Steel Pan Pizza is loved for its crispy, flavorful individual pizzas, including vegan options. The Detroit-style pizza and truffle pizza are popular. The staff is friendly, and the crust is fluffy, not hard or heavy. Some find the pizzas a bit pricey for their size.
Tip: The pizzas are individual, so order several to share with friends.
First off- no corners are cut here and if you have taste buds you will KNOW this. This owner and or chef GETS FOOD! Hats off. Cuppy Roni 10/10: From the fresh garlic to the high quality cheese & marinara. Nothing subbed with cheap ish. I ordered extra sauce and it was truly an ignorant insult to the chef on my part because unlike other places his ratios are perfect without needing tweaking. I am so used to going places that don't account for the thick crust so I have to ask for extra, but NOT HERE! He put perfect amount of sauce under the cheese. Impressive. Next time will not order extra. Caesar Salad 10/10: Magnific! You will NOT get some basic a s s bland chicken thrown into a cheap salad. Everything was FRESH AND DELICIOUS! Chicken was well-seasoned and prepared perfectly. This was the best Caesar salad I've had in a long time, and in fact the only thing that might kick it up a notch for an added wow factor would be shaved pieces of parm as opposed to shreds. Fries are the perfect thickness when you consider they serve pizza fries. Smart. Will return for sure. Flavor: 10/10 Cleanliness: 10/10 Staff: 10/10 Price point: Fair & worth it. If you like pizza, check them out!
I’m an instant fan of this place. It had good crisp. The flavor was great. It had the perfect amount of cheese. I would say don’t bother with the breadsticks. The pizza is enough. I will be back to try other kinds. I just went traditional pepperoni for the first one and it did not disappoint.
When food is made with love you can taste the difference. This place has amazing customer service with a smile. My #4 pizza came out perfect and the flavors were exceptional! If you are in the area I definitely recommend this pizza spot!
Pan baked pizza tastes so great, and they are very good at making quality pan pizza here, it's so yummy that it's hard not to finish the whole box in one sitting, which is big enough to split if you really wanted to, the pizza very well worth it as an occasional indulgence
Arrived here by accident, by greatful I did. The pizza was delicious and very cheesy. The crust was crispy and the amount of pepperoni they put on each slice is great. The staff (Joanna..not sure if that's how she spells it 😍) was very helpful and polite. Helped me get to where I was actually supposed to be. I will be back again soon, even if it's a bit of a drive for me.
Located at Rodeo 39 food hall. Detroit style pizza that baked fresh to order. I ordered the burrata margarita. Very generous with the burrata, ingredients tasted very fresh. Crispy square deep dish pizza that was so delicious. Good size personal pan pizza with 4 pieces. Another one to add to my list.
I read this spot was top 5 best pizza places to try in O.C. I Had the Detroit pepperoni and sausage.. Everyone must try. It won't disappoint..
Let me get this out of the way first... I came here for pizza fries, and they no longer do pizza fries 😭. After the shock and disappointment, we ordered out pizza. We thought it was a little pricey until we got home and realized that the size was deceptive. Each pizza was incredibly filling. We only ate 1/2 of each of our pizzas. It was slightly buttery throughout, not a single dry piece, but also wasn't overwhelmed with sauce. We got a bunch of dipping sauces - none were ranch. Parking was easy to find, even for a Friday night, and the wait for the food was minimal. Ultimately, the $60 price tag did feel worth it to us.
Got the truffle mushroom, nuts & bolts, pepperoni, and bbq chicken and all were super delicious! Great customer service, would recommend to everyone that wants great pizza. 10/10.
The truffle pizza and garlic bread are so good we had to follow them to this location from 4th Street Market!
Pizza was Crispy delicious and absolutely amazing. Definitely worth the price, so many delicious options.
I was gonna try their big pretzel they were offering for Oktoberfest but couldn’t resist the pizza. I’ve never had Detroit style so I went ahead and asked for the marinara stripe on it too. The guy that took my order was easy to talk to, friendly, and above all, the pizza rocked. Can’t wait to come back and get another pizza.
First of all, #PizzaIsLife. I love pizza and I am very particular with how my pizza is made. It's either good or it's not. Here at Steel Pan Pizza, it's GOOD!!!! They are individual pizzas that are nice and crispy and tasty. I was able to order several kinds and share amongst my group of friends. The pizzas are made fresh and the staff is very friendly. Steel Pan Pizza is located in the new trendy food plaza called Rodeo 39.
Pizza is amazing but this is the best Caesar salad I’ve ever had.
Love Love their food!! Pizza was great the salads are awesome!! Great place to eat.
Amazing pizza..so crispy and toppings were abundant!
Best vegan pizza in Orange County hands down.
DeeLish Detroit style pizza with butter crust. I love the nuts and bolts
24 bites of heaven in four slices. THIS is IT, folks. None better.
I loved this place when it was in Santa Ana. I wish they didn't move to another location.
Great customer service! Food is amazing and always consistent !
Some seriously excellent Detroit Style Pizza.
Julie will help you out and wear a beautiful smile doing so!
The Detroit pizza was really good!
Tasty food, and a lovely hostess! Would recommend.
Pizza, salads and desserts all delicious!!
Detroit style pizza! Amazeballs!
Good pizzas and good service.
Amazing
Ive been a professional chef for 18 years. Hands down best pizza place. Thank you, you guys killed it
Love this place from the amazing crispy crust, great sauce and awesome toppings 🤯🥰. Service is always amazing and with a smile 😊 I'm definitely going to be a repeat customer 🍕💯
Just superb excellent Detroit style pizza!! Pure Quality and great taste!!
The people here always go out of their way to hook it up. Great pizza, great sauces and fries, pretty good price for the area.
Great taste and texture. Portion seemed small but was actually very filling. Staff were courteous.
Amazing Pizza! I was recommended by a friend and the pizza did not disappoint. The 'Spicy BBQ Chicken' pizza is one of the best I have ever had. Even those who are traditional pizza fans will love their unique combinations. However, you can't ever go wrong with their meat lovers either. My new favorite pizza place.
BEST TRUFFLE MUSHROOM PIZZA you will EVER taste. I knew it was going to be good but it was mind blowing. The pizza is small but its thick and packed with toppings and easily shareable. Also pay the .50 for the garlic butter sauce..OMG! The homemade ranch was also tasty. Pepperoni pizza and fries also well received at our table. This place is not just an ordinary food court pizza place. They go the extra mile. I will dream of that truffle pizza until I see you again
Being from Detroit, I know this style of pizza well. The crust was phenomenal and the pizza sauce was very good. The cheese and toppings were plentiful. I will be getting this again and often as it’s the best pizza I’ve tasted in California, granted I’m partial to this style of pizza. Well done and highly recommend.
This pizza is a taste all its own. I'm a Detroiter. Cali's, like one review here, doesn't get it and is a hater. California, unless you've traveled to say Sicily (or Detroit)won't crave this thick , cheesey type of pizza. This is an old recipe loved by Detroiters, and many, from 2 pizza places , Buddy's and Cloverleaf bar. Old school. Love that I found you all the way out here.
Pizza is very good, crust is crispy and lots of cheese, sauce, and toppings. They're individual sized pizzas and are plenty of food for a single personal. Order ahead online and skip having to wait for your pizza to be made. Prices are a little higher than going to blaze pizza or pieology, but it's definitely more unique.
Fell in love from the first time I tried it! I always custom make my own vegan pizza. The service here is always great, they're very patient with their customers. The food is made quick and they sell Faygo!
I am from the Detroit area and I have never heard of "Detroit Style" pizza. I went in hoping for a good pizza. I came out after having a great pizza. Great service. Great pizza. Place was clean. Waiter was friendly! Why wasn't this place packed!? I cannot wait to get back!
Steel Pan Pizza is the go to pizza place. Great Detroit style pizza and super fast service. Met the owners and they are great people with a amazing work ethic and shows in their food. Must go to if your at Rodeo 39 Public Market
I had the steel Pan style pizza: chicken, bacon, mushrooms on a white pizza finished with arugula & parmesan. I ate the arugula/parm off the top like a starter salad and then dug into the pizza. While not that large it was filling and plenty for one. The crust was thick and chewy with crusty cheese around the edges. There were ample toppings and it was very satisfying. Great job, steel pan!
Best pizza in So. Cal. Whenever I'm in the O.C I make it a point to stop in for a pie or two. If you like thick crust squares this is the place to go!
Ordered ahead was on time and fresh. Still HOT! Customer service is amazing and they have Faygo in bottles. No pics cause we ate so fast it was so good!
I absolutely love this place! Especially when I have that pizza craving. It gives the perfect cheese pull and great toppings. The crust is so crunchy and flavorful.
I just went to Rodeo 39 for the first time today. My boyfriend and I ate at Steel Pan Pizza. I have not had pizza that fresh and that good in a long time. That's what I told my boyfriend and I thanked him for taking me there.
The best pizza I've ever had. One bite and you are hooked. I had pepperoni, sausage and bell peppers. Really delicious.
As someone originally from Detroit but living in SoCal, I appreciate this restaurant bringing Detroit style pizza to the area. The Crispy Roni pizza was delicious as were the pizza fries. I would recommend this pizza shop and will be back!
Absolutely one of the best pizzas I've had in a looooong time. 3 Pizzas, fries, parm breadsticks were so good. You must try.
The BEST. I am always looking for a better pizza yet I CANT FIND A BETTER PIZZA BECAUSE THEY ARE THE BEST. The sauce is heavenly, I love their dough - you seriously can't go wrong eating here. On top of having the most delicious pizza in southern California, the people who work here are really chill and genuinely very nice. My favorite is the pepperoni, but the Hawaiian, the everything, and the caprese pizzas are all equally amazing. Enjoy 🤌
The food was delicious. Edges were nice and crispy. They definitely do not skimp on the toppings. We ordered the Spicy BBQ Chicken (with added pineapple) and we built our own Sausage, Pepperoni, and Mushroom. Got both with the house made vegan cashew cheese. Even as a cheese lover, (my partner is sadly allergic) it was excellent. My only real complaint was that the garlic bread dipsticks were covered in cheese, but the menu makes no mention of that. Kinda strange for a place with vegan options. Otherwise it was an overall good experience, which seems rare these days with restaurants. We'll definitely be back.
I'm crazy in love with the Truffle Mushroom pizza. They serve Detroit style pizza there in boxed single serving pies. They also have full and side salads. I enjoy a house side salad with my pizza. That makes a good-sized meal that I'm sure light eaters would need to split or have leftovers. You order and pick up at the counter. They issue you an electronic pager that alerts you when your order is ready. That allows you to roam around and see the sights. It's located within Rodeo 39 Public Market food court, so you can find seating and a table to eat within the court. I normally get it for takeout to eat elsewhere, but there's a pleasant atmoshere there, and I've seen live music on the weekend.
I tried Detroit-style pizza at this restaurant for the first time last weekend. The price was cheap, and the pizza was delicious, so I was very satisfied. I haven't been to Detroit yet, but the pizza here will likely become my standard for evaluating Detroit pizza. I hope this place becomes more well-known.
No puedo esperar a volver y comprar otra pizza.
First time trying Detroit style pizza. Admittedly a NY crust purist but did find enjoyment in this expertly crafted pie. Reminded me of Boston Bakery style pan slices and toppings were delicious.
Went to Rodeo39 to try anything that looked good, Steel Pan looked amazing, tasted good too. I would eat this again, and that's a lot coming from a thin slice of Italian style pizza kinda girl.
Make a right when you enter the market! Got the truffle mushrooms! $16. You can smell the truffle oil when you open the box. It is on the thicker side. There’s a string pull too! They did not skimp out on the mushrooms which I do appreciate! They have this mesh on the bottom so the crust stays crispy. It’s really the little things that makes the food good! It comes out piping hot so be careful! price: a bit high for the size of the pizza. Wait time: they’ll hand you buzzer. We waited 20 minutes. We got other food while we waited.
the detroit style pizza here is great
Good pizza 🍕 Better steel pans !
Great service.
The pepperoni's were awesome! I really like slightly burnt pepperoni, and these were exceptional. The cheese was melty and stringy. Loved it! It was a bit oily though, but it is pizza so that's not uncommon. The bread sticks were great also! I really liked those. The place was difficult to find, but that's likely due to that I'm from out of town and was unfamiliar with the idea of inside food court. Obviously that's not a problem to the restaurant though. The workers were super cool! I enjoyed chatting with them. Overall, I highly recommend.
We ordered a personal sized truffle mushroom pizza ($13.99) in person and was given a buzzer to notify us when the pizza was done. It didn't take long (~7 minutes) but the price is a bit steep for a small personal pizza. The pizza is cut into 4 pieces but they are heavy on the Pecorino cheese which I wasn't a huge fan of. The taste was mainly of the mushroom mix so we barely tasted the truffle. The crusts were crispy though. For the leftover slices, we added honey since we felt like something was missing, and it really elevated the pizza.
Esperamos 20 minutos. Nos trajeron otra comida mientras esperábamos.
Pizza are very, very, very small for the price. I assume most of the price is that it's a "speciality" pizza.
I came and was not impressed with the truffle mushroom pizza. I came back and tried a custom pizza with pepperoni and jalapenos. I was asked to come give the pizza a second chance (especially being the truffle mushroom is top seller) I spoke with Conrad and Joleen personally as requested I tried them again. She not only made me a the pizza of my choice she ended up throwing in the truffle mushroom again to give it a second try. Came out fresh and hot. Crust & garlic butter so goodddd I still was not a fan of the truffle mushroom. I think it could be too much truffle, but a lot of people like that. I gave three slices to my brother and he loved it. I did enjoy the pepperoni and jalapeno better. The biggest distinguishing part this second time around was the jalapeno. It was fresh with a kick of spice. Most pizza places do not use fresh jalapenos on their pizza. It would lead me to believe their ingredients are fresh for all orders. I would try them again.
So living in California I came to realize I spend a lot of money supporting bad business ideas translated into food trucks, pop ups and start up that mostly seem to be trash.....today I drove from Redondo Beach to try Steel Pan Pizza. Sadly, this place is another bad business idea brought to light. They advertise they are selling you 1 pound of food, or in their case pizza dough. This, to me is part of the issue here. The pan pizza is very small, bout the size of a dollar bill squared and upon first seeing the pizza it looked like it was going to be good. Looks are deceiving....the dough is soo thick it was undercooked. There was a disgusting gum line from the improper bake and the pepperonis were undercooked except a few placed on top around the edge. If they learned how to properly cook the pizza I believe it would be much better. Ordered the pepperoni and added burrata and basil. They cheese was crazy, way too much mozzarella then add the burrata and it just tasted off, like way to much cheese. You lose the taste and flavors in the sauce and basil and how it all pairs together. It's just all cheese and then a gross tasting dough. Due to the underbaking you taste partial fermented dough and that's not awesome. For $16.30 I would not come back here. It looks like good pizza but don't be fooled....its poorly made, over-priced and taste like a home pizza maker took their shot way to soon to open and actually charge people realy money for this. It overall had a very similar, chew, taste, and experience to Pizza Hut when they offer Detroit style pizza. Won't be surprised if this place is not here by end of 2023. Best of luck!
Ladies and gentlemen I do not know how this place has five stars. Maybe it's because of all the hype I saw on the reviews, but I was let down. The texture was great but outside of that not much else. The cheese, pepperoni, and sauce all felt like they were missing something. On top of that it feels like you're spooning oil down your throat. One of the pieces became too soggy to consume. I know this place isn't supposed to be healthy but I felt like I gained 5 pounds off 2 slices. Pains me to say this because I am an avid lil seizures hater, but it's better than this.
I’ve had this place a handful of times, as I am from out of state, and I was so disappointed when I got my order and realized how over baked the pizzas were. I called in a phone order at 8:15 and was advised to be there by 8:30 and unfortunately when we got home, we realized our pizzas were so over baked, that they even smelled like burnt bread and burnt pepperoni the second we opened the boxes. I was so excited to have this pizza as I don’t have anything like this back home but it was hard to even enjoy the pizza as every bite left a bitter, awful taste in our mouths. Normally, this pizza is good, but I can’t believe how inedible this was. The establishment didn’t seem busy at all, I’m surprised they didn’t just tell me that they would remake the pizzas as I would have happily waited and understood. The gentleman handed me the pizzas in a plastic bag so I wasn’t aware of how burnt they were, or I would have brought it to his attention. I’m so disappointed.
The prices on line are not the same when you pick up, I paid 15.00 more then what I was expecting, and the answer when I questioned it was ,we did post them prices and are trying to change it but I’m still out extra money plus not very good pizza and antipasto salad was not worth 16.50 was a lettuce bowl. Definitely won’t go back58 bucks for a pizza and salad 🤨bad deal
The least of my choices for pizza in oc. I think this taste/style is an east coast thing. Tasted like a microwave pizza... And they don't take cash, so obviously a business that doesn't respect American business practice....
