4.5 so rounding up! Whenever I go to Rodeo 39, I always have to stop by Tenori! Love that they have a deal, 3 for $11 and I usually will double up on honey walnut shrimp and then also get the pork belly. I've also tried the spicy tuna and kbbq but keep falling back to my faves. Ngl, it took me a few visits to notice that they're labeled by the paper they're wrapped in LOL. Before I would just guess which one I picked up, which wasn't the worst thing. I recently tried their poke, which I barely noticed a sign since it's not on their huge wall menu. The poke was fresh but not as spicy as I'm used to! Still good though and my fiancé thought it was a good spice. They also have lemonades and we tried the lychee one which my fiancé loved.

This is a cool place inside a food hall. These onigiri are big and filling. So 3 are enough for lunch. It’s not purely rice but it has the tuna or salmon inside.

Tenori was pretty good! I was a little underwhelmed with how much filling there was and the lack of labeling so you are stuck just biting into the onigiri to figure out which filling it has. However, their menu has a good variety and I feel as though there is something there for everyone. Their bundle deal is a great option for trying different fillings, and it is offered at a good price. Service was good. Cashiers were friendly, and the staff cooking made our food pretty quick. Would definitely say Tenori is worth a try if you are in Rodeo 39.

Located in Rodeo 39. I love musubis so had to try onigiri which is white rice formed in a triangle wrapped with nori and stuffed with various cooked items. I ordered the spicy salmon, spicy tuna, KBBQ and pork belly. So delicious and glad to see that it had a good amount of filling and they didn't skiMp out. Tasted so good and would definitely order these again.

This place is great cute little spot been dying to eat these. Now I can drive somewhere to pick these babies up when I’m too lazy to make it myself. The price is decent and there are tons of flavor to choose from

Spicy Tuna could be a little spicier, but their onigiri was solid. 15 minute wait for our order so we just walked around ordering food from other vendors and came back once it was ready.

For all you nigiri fans, Tenori is your Mecca for great ingredients stuffed in rice and nori. There are several option for you to try so that gives you reason to return over and over again. The workers are friendly. It's located in the center of Rodeo 39, a new trendy food plaza.

As I told my significant other, I have ordered the same order from their soft opening!!! The taste, the service, the price are pretty much the same.

Yummy!! The best onigiri I’ve ever had personally! Rice is yummy and the outside is savory and crispy. Fillings are good too. The little papers wraps are what label each one btw!

If you like sushi you're gonna love this place! Like wowsers! We ordered the 3 different wusubi, the spicy salmon, spicy tuna, and the honey walnut shrimp, let me tell you I wish I had two stomachs like a little cow! These are sooooo GOOD! I eill definitely be back for more and more and more!

I feel like there aren't that many onigiri spots in Orange County so it's good to have places like Tenori that specialize in them! I tried their three most popular flavors and all of them were delicious with my favorite being the spicy salmon.

I love anything with spam and rice. This place is always top-notch. You wait in whatever line is there (though only once it has been packed, it’s usually barely a line present), you use the kiosk and then pick up your delicious food shortly after. Plenty of options here, clean place, super friendly staff.

Different, very tasty and good value for the 3 for $11. Concoction of your choice of meat or seafood stuffed in rice with sprinkling of condiments and wrapped in seaweed sheet which is a good source of healthy iodine.

D

This is the best onigiri I've had outside of Japan. Best value is going to be the current offer of 3 for $10. I recommend the Spicy Salmon (not really spicy), and the Tuna Mayo. I like that they put some furikake on it, which just adds bonus flavor. Tenori is in the middle-back of Rodeo 39 so you can find it if you go straight back from the front facing Beach blvd.

this place is delicious!! i ordered the kbbq and pork belly musubis. there was lots of filling inside for the price and it was definitely worth it. their drinks were also so good! i got the strawberry lemonade and my friend got a lychee lemonade. probably one of the best lemonades i’ve ever had. if you’re in the stanton area, you have to definitely check this place out!

This spot is a gem. Simple and relatively quick when it's not busy. Get one to hold you over, or enough for a full meal. All choices have great flavor and texture, I highly recommend it.

Me and my husband were visiting from Chicago and a friend that lives here pointed us in the direction of route 39 for food. We tried tenori and shamelessly ended up here 3 times out of the 6 days we were in cali lol would have been more but we were in Vegas for a couple days

Had a great time at Rodeo39 the other day. I think these fully cooked onigiri are really yummy! Rice balls come in a lot of flavors and I think my favorite was the pork belly. I found the strawberry lemonade to be too sour for me, but it was extremely flavorful.

Pleasantly surprised by how delicious the onigiri was—our spicy salmon and pork belly wrapped in toasted seaweed really hit the spot! Note, order from kiosk and staff hands out the food.

Visited Hangar at LBX after almost an year. Its buzzing with energy and new exciting eating spots. Stephen was our server and he was extremely helpful and explaining all the options and made good recommendations. Tenori has a simple menu and I opted to get Salmon and Tuna with Mayo Tenori balls. I was pleasantly surprised by the taste and quality of this. It had great taste and texture. Though this was more of a snack than a meal for me.

Spicy salmon: Pretty good! Slightly spiced but not hot. Lots of salmon filing. Probably my favorite. Honey walnut prawn: This was super good too. Tastes like a good honey walnut shrimp and the breading wasn't soggy. It's a contender for favorite. Pork belly: Least favorite. The pork is pretty dry and the flavor is alright and a little on the smoky side. Lychee lemonade: Pretty good! Light and refreshing. Stronger lychee flavor at first with that sour lemonade punch at the end. Very interesting.

We got lucky and "only" waited total of 40minutes. We tried the pork belly 4*, spicy tuna 4*, KBBQ 3.5*, and spam 3*. We would return but only if line is under 30mins. Otherwise, unmotivated to wait in line for these.

G

Good riceball place though the flavors are nothing special. We get the KBBQ, Walnut Shrimp and Spicy Salmon for $11. The Spicy Salmon is the best. The Walnut Shrimp is creamy but not flavorful. The KBBQ is just beef and rice. The furikake, sesame and MSG mixture they put around the balls are nice but after eating 1 we feel we have eaten them all. Overall, if you're in the area it's worth a try.

It ‘s a small shop in a food court center of a super busy plaza on Beach Blvd, hard to find parking. They have different kinds of “onigiri” (Japanese seaweed rice cakes). We went there once a year ago on a weekend, the line to order was so long so it took us more than an hour to order/get our onigiries but they were so good, worth the wait. This time was on a weekday, no line no wait, but we were kinda disappointed, they were still tasty but the rice was still hardened at some spots, they tasted like being in the refrigerator overnight and not reheated long enough, not fresh like the first time. I thought when they were slow, they should have more time to prep the food to make it better but no… hope not experiencing this again. We like “spicy salmon” ones the most (to me, not spicy at all or just only a touch), they are good snacks/appetizers, they taste better than they look

Located inside Rodeo 39. This place gets busy for lunch. They give you a buzzer and buzz you when it’s ready. There are 8 kinds to choose from for $4 each or 3 for $11. We got two sets of 3. It’s filling because it’s made up of mainly rice. -pork belly - I usually like anything pork belly but this was just one big piece of meat. It wasn’t tender and I couldn’t bite into it. So my first bite was just all meat and the rest was left with rice. -spicy tuna - not as good as the spicy salmon -tuna w mayo - I am normally not a tuna fan but this combo was one of my favorite. It was cooked tuna. -spicy salmon - My favorite. The portions and flavors were right on. -Kbbq - This was the most consistent because it was shredded meat and it had saucy flavor. Each bite had rice and meat. -honey walnut shrimp - Came with 2 pieces of honey walnut shrimp. I was able to take each bite with a piece of shrimp and rice but the proportions were not even so I was left with more rice in the end. We got all 6 to sample, realistically, two will get me full but half the 6 so technically I had 3 and the rice kept me full the entire day.

Please, please setup a kitchen printer in the BOH so the poor cashier doesn't have to run back in forth. I felt bad for her having to cashier, run the ticket and expo on a Saturday night.

We decided to try the mix and match onigiri, sampling the pork belly, spicy tuna, and honey walnut shrimp. The honey walnut shrimp was my favorite. However, the pork belly and spicy tuna were quite underwhelming. Both lacked any flavors I was expecting. Overall, it’s a decent spot for a quick snack and to try something different, but I would not return.

Food: 3/5 Service and Setting: 3/5 Value: 3/5 I really wanted to like this more than I did, but maybe my expectations were too high. I love rice balls and expect them to be super packed with flavor and fillings. While the food was not bad, for the price, I hoped for better to be very honest. If you are looking for something that is a little easier to digest, Tenori is your place when navigating the food jungle that is Rodeo 39. Honey Walnut Prawn: 4/5 This definitely was my favorite of all of the rice balls that I tried. There was a good amount of filling and it was definitely honey walnut prawn. The most pronounced flavor to me was the walnut. The crispy shrimp and nuts were a good contrast to the soft rice and savory furikake coating. Mentai: 4/5 This was also very good and they packed a good amount of mentaiko into the rice ball. Mentaiko, or myeong-ran in Korean, is spicy fermented pollack roe and is extremely delicious. It is spicy, savory, rich, has a strong-ocean essence, and slightly bitter/fermented. If you are not a fan of seafood this is not for you, but if you do want to try something different, I would say that Tenori offers a very good mentaiko rice ball. Pork Belly: 2/5 I really did not like this one, to be frank. The meat was very sweet and tasted strongly of soy sauce. The bonito flakes on the outside helped a bit but yeah still not a fan. I felt that the flavors were very underwhelming and the intense sweetness was off putting. Lychee Lemonade: 4/5 Their lychee lemonade is pretty good and a lot better than a lot of places that I have had similar drinks at. Lemonade is always pretty sweet so I won’t ding them there. The lychee flavor does not taste artificial and there is not that thick sort of syrup taste that you get when restaurants use a lychee syrup. I would not say that this drink matches their food, but it is refreshing nonetheless and I would pick one up even if I was not eating here.

L
Lauren P.S

This is not very good. And it’s not cheap either. The extra rice for poke is 3$ ya it’s generous but it needs rice & sugar. Flavor. The poke has no flavor either it needs salt, citrus yuzu something anything?! The Onigiri is good the furikakya is good but the literally use a seaweed snack?!?! Not even real seaweed so it breaks down very easy. The lemonade was really good and refreshing. Spent like 25$ on sad poke, rice and onigiri :(

J
Janelle Stradling

We had the: - Honey prawn = 5 stars, flavors we on point, I would order this again as a small bite - KBBQ = 3 stars, flavors were good - Pork belly = 3 stars, flavors were good - Spicy salmon = 1 star, not Spicy at all, a lot of mayo, and the salmon was hot temperature wise - Spicy tuna = 0 stars, you can taste that the tuna is from a can - Over all I would go back for the honey prawn for a snack but that's all I would order

B
Brad Spitzer

Mostly rice, bad or no service. Wouldn't sub sauce. Overpriced and salty.

My first visit was awesome, which made me excited to return. But, second visit was disappointing, I was told my instructions on my order was not clear. I asked a friend about my instructions and was told that it was very clear to understand what I wanted. The pork belly that I ordered was not prepped nicely as the filling inside was visible.

Rhiannon Karvelis

I wouldn't recommend stopping by here if you have food aversions/allergies. The shop did not do a good job of properly separating the orders and then when the mistake was pointed out they were willing to correct it but needed to verify the information 3 separate times. If you'll eat anything without adjustments you'd like it, or if you am not eating with people who need adjustments then I recommend it. Otherwise I'd say stay away.

J

It's my second time here and the food was just as good as the first time I came. On the other hand the service was by far some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I didn't get her name but she was super rude the entire time. When I ordered on the kiosk and chose for a printed receipt but when I asked for it she rudely cut me off and told me to get it when I get my order and walked away. Then when my brother came to order with his kids there wasn't anyone in line and no one around waiting either so his kids just so happen to be standing in front of the 2nd kiosk and she rudely asked "which one are you using" and then turned around threw her hands up and walked away. The food was amazing but the customer service was horrible she had no intention on showing any customer service at all whatsoever. I didn't get her name like I said but for the owners she worked Sunday 06/02/24 at around 1:30pm

$5 is NOT worth it for these onigiris. i ordered walnut shrimp, spicy salmon, and spicy tuna. they are decently sized, but the filling to rice ratio is terrible. 85% rice, 15% filling or even less. i also ordered it on doordash but they don't even assemble the seaweed for you - it's separate from the rice balls.. which i would've expected since they do that for inperson orders?

I don’t write reviews often but I felt like I had to. love onigiri so I decided to try this place and was pretty disappointed by the food. Of course I didn’t expect it to be exactly like Japanese Onigiri (as foreshadowed by the furikake covered photos), but this was a bit of a butcher. All the food was heavily sauced, salted, and filled. It’s like the American sushi version of onigiri but on overdrive. Basically what I’m saying is I expected something somewhat delicate and light but ended up feeling as though I bit into 3 balls of salty grease.

I ordered a lemonade for $4.50 and watched as they filled my 16oz cup with ice and poured lemonade straight from a Kirkland Organic Lemonade jug from Costco. The same jugs cost me only $7.25 for two 96oz bottles at Costco! What’s frustrating is that they advertise it as “homemade lemonade,” but it’s clearly just Kirkland bottled lemonade. I don’t mind paying for quality or service, but honesty matters. It’s disappointing to pay $4.50 for a drink that isn’t what it’s claimed to be
