Pho Mac Vietnamese Restaurant Staten Island Reviews
I had a wonderful experience at Pho Mac, I would recommend the Grilled Pork Chop w/ Rice or Chicken Pho. Only did takeout so I'm unaware of their dine in experience but the food is certainly delicious. One of my go to spots when I'm in the area. A bit to be desired with parking but not impossible.
My favorite Vietnamese restaurant. I went to many popular expensive ones in NY and so far nothing compare to this place. Must get summer roll and spring rolls for app. Pho is always good. Super friendly and good service alway
Best Vietnamese spot in Staten Island by far. Coming from Brooklyn, I was concerned about restaurants lacking in quality. This place hits the spot. The meats are cooked right, the chicken is tender and juicy. The fried calamari is crispy. I was hesitant when the staff recommended the curry, but they definitely do a great job with it.
I've been there a couple of times with my friends and family. There's actually a second floor which was nice that they were able to seat my party of 10. The food was delicious, the beef pho broth is definitely on point, it warmed my soul. Another time when I was here with my friends, I actually saw my other friends ordering takeout from here! This place is definitely a hit. I had a bunch of items from here. The beef with fried rice was amazing, I had to order two! Also ordered the seafood pan fried noodles, another must get. Got the summer rolls, spring rolls, and fried squid for apps - classic and stuffed. The coconut juice is fricken amazing, it comes from a real coconut and super sweet! Definitely organic. That's when you know it's the best. Highly recommend this place if you're around looking for a good yummy broth! Service was great, super attentive and friendly. The host was super sweet and asked if we needed anything else even though she wasn't our waitress. Parking was easy, lots of parking spaces. Overall, honestly, probably one of the best pho spot I've ever been to and highly recommend to all my friends and family!
Beef broth is savory and light but flavorful. It does not seem to contain MSG. Summer Roll is fresh and warm when served. The sauce paired with it is sweet and savory with hoisin and peanut sauce. Spring Rolls are made different from other Vietnamese restaurants. Waiters are clear and direct. Food comes fast and hot. There is limited parking in their parking lot. Plenty of seatings throughout the restaurant, there are two floors, Upstairs has booth and tables. The place is cozy and authentic. The bathroom is located on the ground floor and located in the back.
Dropped by Pho Mac for dinner on a weeknight and left happy — it's a reliable go-to for Vietnamese food in the area when you're craving something fresh and flavorful. Service was top-notch: staff were super friendly, attentive, and quick to refill water/tea. They greeted us warmly (even brought complimentary hot tea right away) and checked in without hovering — made the whole experience feel welcoming and personal.
Would likely get 5 stars if I never ordered online. In the restaurant the food is amazing. They have a selection of sauces: soy, hoisin, sriracha. Takeout? Nothing. Not a good look. Also, I absolutely love the chicken wing curry appetizer. I order the chicken curry entree hoping it would be just as good. Very little flavor and mostly onions (photo of just the onions I picked out included.) I'll be back to the restaurant but really hoping I remember to never order it to go again.
Barely parking in front otherwise, look for street parking 🅿️ people having a hard time to get in and out in here 😅 Ordered 3 food and all tasted good. But, the service is not friendly. Sat second floor and the lady (short straight hair) seems to be grumpy and seems she wants us to leave immediately staring at our table which making us uncomfortable. Not sure if I’d come back to eat because of it.
Three of us shared Bahn Hoi Bo Nuong Xa, Bo Luc Lac and a big bowl of Pho. Bahn Hoi Bo Nuong Ca is more than average, but the rest are the below average. Spring rolls seemed to be pre made as it was served immediately upon order. One of the most awkward moments during my dining experience was that the one of the servers who seem to be the owner got upset and shouted at me when I tried to pay for my bill. So I asked her if she got upset with me but she just said no and no explanation. I may not go back to this place but it would be great to hear the reason why she got upset and yelled at me for no reason.
If you like eating out at places that treat you like a complete burden from the second you walk in, then Phò Mac is the place for you! When you walk in, a server just points to a random table for you to be seated at, and begrudgingly waits for you to scan their very elaborate and excessive menu options in a matter of seconds. If you ask for more time (because you're still deciding) then they become irritated and ignore you until they feel like coming back around again. The food wait time was fast, and portion sizes vs price was decent. However, if you decide to want to take some of the food home with you after, the sever will look at you like you're insane. The phò was missing ingredients that make it flavorful, such as cilantro, and lime. They give you mint (for some reason???) as an alternative, and raw bean sprouts that don't even blend well in the dish. Even though I was looking forward to ordering the phò, I was let down entirely. The entrees are mediocre. The boba in the bubble tea was alright, it had the right texture which a lot of boba shops fail at. Servers are standing around most of the time, chit chatting and making snarky remarks about customers within earshot, some keep checking the time on their phone every minute to see how much longer they must suffer there for. Finished/empty dishes start piling up on your table, and someone will eventually come around and take it away, but until then, it's just going to sit there until that happens. If you're a family, you're treated like 2nd rate customers, so skip this if you are. You get talked down to by staff, it's very demeaning and unprofessional. Awful customer service, to say the least. When you're done and ready to leave, they rush you away and hit you with a very empty sounding Quik-E-Mart "thank you, come again". It's very telling that something is wrong when you see a restaurant half empty during dinner rush on a weekend. This was a very disappointing, a forgettable experience, and a complete waste of money. I would pass and look elsewhere for phò, this isn't it. I wouldn't recommend Phò Mac, and I'm not coming back whatsoever.
I walked in at 8:20PM on a Sunday evening when Pho Mac closes at 9PM. I was rudely told that I can only order take-out and could not be seated. I have been a loyal customer for 15 years and have never been so disrespected at a restaurant. .I feel like the ownership must have changed recently as the quality of the Pho has slipped quite a bit in my opinion. Will be the last time I frequent Pho Mac. NASTY People never succeed.
