The Westerton Arms Stirling Reviews
Great food. Great service. Very well presented. Been 3 days in a row now for lunch and dinner. All very tasty... Would highly recommend!
We took our daughter in here when visiting her at Sterling University. We got a warm welcome and it was a lively but cosy atmosphere. We were offered the chef special which sounded lovely but opted for other options from the menu we had already spied. My daughter had the Bruschetta and a Pizza, The Bruschetta was large in size and tasted on point. She enjoyed the pizza also. Me and the misses got the small mussels to share which weren't actually small. They were of good size & tasty. I had the beef shin main which I was still enjoying the flashbacks of into the next day, the stew broke in your mouth and the accompaniments were equaly as delighful. The misses had King Prawn linguine that she really enjoyed, not a patch on the beef shin though. We highly recommend a visit here. We had 2 soft drinks each and it all came to around £80 pounds total. We were happy with the value for money.
Great food and friendly staff, I had the beef burger, was really nice, partner had the steak pie which she said was great as well, massive portion and lots of meat inside. Would highly recommend 🙏
Phenomenal food and quick service - faster compared to other places we tried around Scotland. I had a fillet: a tad on the expensive side, but perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Rest of the family went with the slow cooked shin of beef (excellent according to the wife), risotto (same rating) and a burger (the best one we had until now according to father in law). Staff was very friendly, service quick and professional, portions very generous. All in all an extremely enjoyable dinner.
Came for lunch and got a nice table near the window. Lovely and warm inside on what was a cold, windy day. Staff were friendly, polite and professional. Great menu choice. Drinks order was taken promptly and food order taken when drinks arrived. Food didn't take too long but was hot, freshly made and delicious. Macaroni cheese was super cheesy. Very nice and not too overpriced. Approx £34 for lunch, no side orders, and soft drinks. Only criticism would be the soft drinks were pricey. But still 5 stars.
Was in tonight , what fantastic value for money and the food was fantastic as was the service xx
4 of us visited here on a busy Saturday evening for an evening meal. Food: the food was brilliant. Wellington was incredible as were the burgers. Very well presented and decent size portions. Skinny fries with parmesan were a particular favourite! Service: great service, had to wait a bit of time between receiving the bill and paying but it was busy so understandable. Staff very attentive, friendly and welcoming. Credit to the venue. Atmosphere: really relaxed atmosphere, perfect for a casual evening meal. Parking: private parking is available but also plenty of free on street parking nearby. No issues at all. Price: for the quality and quantity of food and overall experience, I believe this place is priced appropriately. 4 people, 2 courses and 2 drinks each approximately £30 per head. Top highlight(s): skinny fries and sticky toffee pudding. Will definitely return and easily recommend to anyone in the area.
Stopped off for some dinner. Welcomed in by friendly staff, they were all wearing masks and the place was spotless. Ordered drinks at the bar and went to sit in the beer garden. Drinks were with us in minutes and our food order taken. Barman came back with card machine for us to pay and we were told that they were continuing the 'eat out to help out' scheme throughout September, which was great as a reasonably priced dinner became even better. Food was very tasty and hot. Will definitely be back during our holiday. Many thanks to all staff.
Great cafe for breakfast and brunch. Staff always happy to help and accommodate all requests. Free WiFi and huge free car park space adding on the value. Try for yourself and won’t be disappointed
Storm day Friday 24th January. Hadn’t prepared and was stuck for food and a warm coffee. Hot soup , coffee and steak pie dinner. Manager and staff very helpful and friendly. Warm log burning fire set a nice atmosphere.
Was my sons 21st Birthday, just a small group of family and friends at The Westerton after being let down by another restaurant.. I’m glad they cancelled. We couldn’t fault the staff, service and food. The staff were super helpful, helping with balloons, banners and serviettes for the birthday boy..took his cake and presented to him with the candles and flares.. Pauline was who I spoke with on booking and she was there in the night, arranged everything and looked after us all so well. Food was amazing, tasted so fresh, and served all of us together with really warm tasty meals. Lovely ambience, clean and immaculate. If you are in BoA.. you must go to The Westerton Arms.. you will not be disappointed 😊👍 Catrina Mootie
Had a great lunch in the bar area yesterday. Good food. Dog friendly. Excellent staff.
Absolutely delicious food. Had food envy too as every plate from the kitchen looked amazing. Very good quality and price.
I was in for steak pie and chips on Wednesday 2nd July and I’m happy to say that the food, friendly atmosphere and service were first class, I’ll certainly be back this week for more of the same
Excellent pub and pub food venue, they do great deals during the week as well on food. Sunday roasts are very good here. Also, just had a breakfast and the westy special is magnificent!
Stopped for lunch on our long journey home. Good service and felt welcome. The food was really fresh and well presented. I had the best mussels I've had for a very long time!!
Excellent food and service. We tried several dishes and everything was great.
Was so good. The staff were friendly and kind. Very recommend!!!
Amazing place, food and cofee 🤩
Dropped in for lunch in the passing and didnt dissapoint. Lovely meal with great service.
Lovely lunch with 😋 wine here on Saturday. Good value for money large portions and tasty food. Staff attentive but not intrusive. Excellent find
Really good food!!! Amazing service a bit slow but worth the wait! Highly recommended
A lovely experience, staff were really lovely, happy to recommend dishes. Service was spot on and food was delicious.
Really nice pub, friendly staff, lively! We returned for breakfadt on our last day in Bridge of Allan and it was tasty and ample in portions.
Excellent pub restaurant with a comfortable atmosphere. Both of us enjoyed different dishes, each prepared with attention to quality. We were lunch hungry, and said so, but even though our choices were 'longest to cook' we didn't notice the wait. (Teriyaki Salmon and Beef Shin). Staff were attentive and service was friendly. We would eat there again.
Popped in on our way home from Stirling, wanted somewhere suitable for my husband who has coeliac. Good choices for him, and all the food we had was delicious, fresh and plentiful. Will definitely come back when we're next in the area.
Visited today for lunch and chose from the market menu. Cracking food quality and amazing value.
Delicious food and great service. Nice interior but could do with some touches to build atmosphere- music, candles, nice flowers. I went for the chicken supreme which was absolutely mouth wateringly good. Full of flavour and cooked to perfection 👌🏻 staff friendly and efficient- couldn’t fault the service. Really impressed and good value too!
Had an amazing lunch here today. The chicken burger was one of the best I've had. The staff were all lovely and food was piping hot when it came out. Will be back again
what a wonderful bar/ restaurant on the high street in the Bridge of Allen Stirling. The menu is good with choices for age groups. The Sunday Roast ohhh wonderful roast chicken, my fiends had steak, fish n chips and maccie cheese, puddings just hit the spot. A good range of beers and wines on sale .All table service in a lovely roomy dining area. There is also a bar with a lovely atmosphere There is a b
Such a great meal last night after a long cold day of exploring outdoors. The warm fire by our table was so welcoming and the food was delicious. Our group had the BOFA shark, muscles starter (small was quite enough for sharing even!), chicken with cauliflower, gnocchi, and beef shin. Everything was so delicious! We would highly recommend!
Arranged to have a birthday meal for 20 on Saturday 31st. The staff were 1st class before with booking confirmation and follow up phone calls, during the evening very attentive. The food was delicious. Highly recommend
Great time here today, haven't been for a few years but it's still great. Great value for money, good food, slick service from the app niceness garden. Had lots of choice in BoA for lunch glad we chose this one. Keep up the good work
Fantastic Sunday roast, had the beef, no complaints! Wife had the pie, also no complaints. Will be back.
Just about the best Sunday lunch in Scotland. My friend and I were delighted by the quality of the meal we were served, and by the absolutely spot on service - always helpful but never obtrusive. The beef alone was a standout, the vegetables completely matched in quality and quantity, so much so we could not consider the amazing cakes on display. Two happy people waddled to the bus to Perth and snored gently. . . ... Cannot wait to come back and try more from the menu. An absolutely delightful lunch, thank you so much.
Lovely, welcoming atmosphere and staff. The food was delicious. We opted for starters of hummus and lobster ravioli. For mains we both chose a pie - beef & ale and pork bourguignon. Amazing flavours and the accompanying mash and veg were perfect. Sadly, we couldn't manage dessert. We'll definitely be back!
This is a mix of modern and traditional. The place is a main road location but you don't realise once inside. Staff attention suoer without being over bearing. The food stole the show, 6 of us dined two chicken n mushroom pie delicious light pastry, lots of filling, excellent. One curry the right amount if hot to be flavoursome without spoiling the flavour. A beef pie mash n veg, not a lump in sight, lots of meat and exceptional veg spring cabbage carrots and mange tout cooked together beautifully. The shin beef could have been slightly hotter but that was the only hiccup. Highly recommended snow ball sundae to finish. Very reasonably priced including wine and soft drinks approx 57.00 per couple. We will be calling again...
Popped in here through word of mouth on our way from Perth back to north west England. We are glad we did! The food was delightful! One pork burger and one shin of beef, both wonderful. Great value, tasty and very well presented! If we are ever in the area we would definitely pop back in!
Delicious and great value meal last night. I loved my Shin of Beef. Compliments to the kitchen and front of house. Definitely will be back.
I've been here a couple of times. Since it is under new management it has been servicing fabulous good food. Think they are struggling with service staff and systems. The outside beer garden is fantastic but really should have service, as they would be able to sell more food and drinks. Nice when the sun is out too. We had the lobster ravioli with sapphire on top. It was tasty and good size. We also had the scallop thermodor, which was delicious. Should he served with bread. Highly recommend both.
Very nice staff and good food .Spicy Hunters Chicken was good but, dirty fries was delicious 😋
Great food and friendly, unpretentious service. Can especially recommend the fish and chips. Would happily return if passing through again.
Pleasant place to enjoy drinks and/or food. There is outdoor seating front and rear of the property. Smoking is permitted in the rear beer garden. Staff were pleasant and friendly. I enjoyed my food, the prawns with chorizo was excellent and the portions for main meals are generous.
We had the Sunday roast. The staff were nice enough but there seemed to be a lack of interest in the customers.
This would be a great place but the WiFi never works and half their taps are out. Nice that they have a wood burning stove and the atmosphere has a lot of potential. I don’t think this necessarily needs to be a work hub or anything but it’s difficult to draw postgrads, professors, or local professionals if they can’t at least check their email while they wait for folks to join them for a pint.
Visited for the first time in many years. Customer Service not that inviting and the atmosphere in the bar albeit busy seemed cold. Beer garden at the back good.
Been here a few times and thought it was good. However my last visit was a disappintment. Had booked a table and on arrival was placed at a 4 seat table next to a large crowd who were quite loud. Asked if we could change to a 2 seat table away from the large crowd to be told that the table was people who booked. Eventually the manager came and myvfriend managed to get another table. Food was very disappointing as well. Ordered rose prosecco and hot white. Staff weren't very attentive. Eill not be back.
The vegan options could not have been saltier (hummus starter and risotto) if they tried and the portions were massive, if you were to finish these dishes you would get very ill, my partner had these dishes yesterday at lunch and he has felt sick since. In addition the Risotto had large pieces of raw onion. The bruschetta was lazy and consisted of cherry tomatoes sliced in half (unseasoned) on top of rocketsalad on a very oily piece of bread and about 8 pieces of varying size chopped red onion, it did not taste like much but oil and balsamic vinegar. The "vegan" burger had a very odd patty like nothing ive ever had before, the staff could not tell me what brand it was but returned with a list of ingredients - it had a very odd meaty flavour and was incredibly tough and chewy like rubber and on top of the patty was melted cheese that tasted oddly like halloumi which is obviously not supposed to be on a vegan burger (i only had one bite since i did not trust it to be vegan). With the burger came fries that had no salt at all which was surprising because everything else was so salty it was hard to eat, it also came with coleslaw that had only red cabbage and a "sauce" that tasted like water and cleaning solution. I would not recommend eating here as a vegan nor vegetarian unless you prefer an overconsumption of salt at lunch/dinner.
1 hour 50 minute wait for our main course. Waitress who was stroppy and rude. I am in BofA a few times a year and I would never go back again.
We ate at this restaurant having been gifted an Itison voucher. The voucher offered a 2 course meal from the main menu, with some noted exceptions (such as seafood dishes not being included). We looked at the menu prior to visiting and were impressed by the range of dishes which looked interesting, especially for a pub restaurant. On arrival we were given menus and some time to look through them. When the waiter returned and we presented our voucher the waiter took our menus away and got the ‘special’ Itison menu. This ‘special’ menu contained 6 or 7 of the most basic, standard items from the menu (steak pie, macaroni cheese, burger etc.) This was such a disappointment, before our meal had even begun, especially as I had advised the restaurant that we had this voucher when making the booking. We then ordered our meals. Given the limited menu we chose from and simplicity of those dishes I would have expected the standard to be reasonably high. However we were presented with plates including overcooked vegetables and a burger salted to the point of being inedible. We raised a complaint with Itison as we honestly felt the menu we were presented with was in contradiction to the advertised offer. They contacted the restaurant with our complaint and the manager offered us a £50 voucher as the experience had not lived up to the offer. This seemed reasonable and I considered the matter dealt with. However, 6 months later, after numerous phone calls and emails and an escalated complaint later we have not received this voucher. It's such a shame as on the face of it this establishment seems to be trying to ‘fit in’ with a competitive offering in Bridge of Allan (there are many other outstanding independent eateries which I would highly recommend.) The staff on our visit were attentive and the ambience is pleasant, but overall this visit and the subsequent communications were extremely disappointing.
