Da Irene e Mary Strada Mongreno Reviews
The place is enchanting, it feels like a journey back in time. We ate well and spent little. The staff is really very kind.
The place is very nice and informal, the atmosphere is very familiar, the food is excellent and the prices are fair, thank you!!!!!👍🏼👍🏼
Nice and friendly service, only locals and good quality food for crazy good prices.
An "old-fashioned" restaurant. Time seems to have stood still. (I'm talking about the structure.) The food is excellent and well-prepared. Excellent service. Courteous and helpful staff. Very reasonable prices. I'd simply say highly recommended.
A restaurant serving traditional Piedmontese cuisine at reasonable prices. The owners are kind and welcoming. I had the chestnut ravioli and the sliced beef with radicchio. The dishes were very good and plentiful. I also ordered the house red wine. I highly recommend this place for sampling traditional, quality Piedmontese products.
Simple place with a mix of an old time charm and a shabby appearance. The service is perfect, even though no one really speaks any English. The menu is more than reasonably priced and everything is fresh and well cooked. If you expect a fast lunch stop on the way from Superga (we did a bike ride there and back), look no further, you wouldn't be disappointed.
Super Staff.....
A very cosy, family-style place with good, simple and seasonal food. The wine is great as well. Recommended for a quick stop for lunch.
I already knew the place and it's interesting even if at first glance it seems an inhospitable place. The entrance is dark, I had a hard time telling if it was open or closed, and access is via a steep iron staircase with no signs in a dark courtyard that's truly uninviting. But once inside you feel a family welcome, a beautiful rustic atmosphere, and the food is a pleasant surprise: excellent appetizers that can be replicated if desired, delicious agnolotti, grilled braciole, good desserts, coffee, and amaro, all in abundance for only 30 euros. In short, take courage, overcome the darkness and you will be welcomed and pampered in a beautiful 70s-style setting.
Dinner on July 17, 2025. Located at the beginning of the Pino Tunnel road, near the departure station for the Sassi railway, the restaurant, spartan as befits a bowling club, offers predominantly Piedmontese cuisine that meets expectations and budget. Acoustic comfort, considering the low attendance, is good. We ordered: tomini al verde, a Savoy appetizer, plentiful and of decent quality (only the vitello tonnato would have been better with a slightly tastier sauce), a thin and well-cooked breaded steak, and a Valdostana-style steak, although different from the traditional recipe, pleasant. The wine list is understandably limited. The service was courteous and fairly quick, at least on the Thursday evening of our dinner. If you're serious about your food and want a good-value dinner, this is a place worth considering. The bill was quite reasonable, especially considering the portions. Rating: 7.5
An old trattoria serving authentic Piedmontese cuisine. A few dishes, but well-executed, slightly lower prices, a simple but clean atmosphere, and quick, friendly service. We were satisfied; the only drawback for those with limited mobility is the entrance, which is quite a few steps and is located in a courtyard where there should be a circle below. Recommended.
When we went (once for lunch and once for dinner), we sat in the outdoor garden. The weather was still nice and the temperature was still quite mild, so I didn't see the inside. It was truly pleasant, both the atmosphere and the people. The charming gentleman who takes orders and delivers the dishes is fantastic: joking, friendly, and down-to-earth, he tries to please everyone. The food is good and affordable if you order the set menu (a first course, a second course with side dish, water, 1/4 cup wine, and coffee; €10 for lunch, €12 for dinner), while the à la carte dishes are more expensive and varied (tuna steak, mixed fried fish, mixed Piedmontese antipasto, and a spectacular handmade zabaglione!). Now that it's getting a bit cooler, we'll try the inside too. It's truly pleasant and relaxing, despite being right next to a busy road, thanks to the greenery that provides shelter from noise, glances, and smog. It was a pleasant discovery, as I thought it was just a club for members. The night we decided to go for dinner, there was also music from a friendly, upbeat, and engaging DJ. At that time, there was no fixed-price menu.
Relax, cosy, friendly place. We ate very good.
I'm a member of the Alpini di Torino - Sassi group and I've known the Ristorante Amatori Bocce since 1983. This time I wanted to introduce the place to friends who came to visit me from Belluno. Always excellent service and food from friends Silvio and Irene. As you can see, I even bring friends from far away! From tourists to business lunches, I recommend it to everyone.
A place that could do much better, even with that kind of shabby decor. Poor quality food, no bottles of wine, only cask wine. I don't recommend it.
