Teru Sushi Studio City Reviews
TL;DR: Veteran sushi spot that delivers. Clean cuts, creative rolls, sharp service, and a smooth dinner flow. We pivoted here after a bad vibe elsewhere and I’m glad we did. Shoutout to the service from Satomi, she was warm and efficient. The kitchen moves fast without losing detail. The Spicy Tuna Rice Cake is excellent with real crunch and balanced heat. Signature rolls hit hard: Sexy Roll, Latino Roll, and Mango Roll all tasted fresh with distinct textures. Dessert was a win too, the Teru vanilla brownie with ice cream. Room feels cozy and lively, not chaotic. Drinks are solid. This is easily top tier on Ventura for roll-forward sushi and consistency. Pro Tips: • Start with the Spicy Tuna Rice Cake. • Add halibut carpaccio for something light. • Pick one classic and one signature roll to compare. • Save space for dessert.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Teru Sushi absolutely lives up to its reputation! A friend recommended it as the first (and best) sushi restaurant in the San Fernando Valley, and they weren’t wrong. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff made us feel right at home. The highlight of the night was meeting the owner, Mike, who went above and beyond — he gave us a tour of the charming back patio with the koi pond and even showed us the private dining area. A true gem in the Valley and a must-visit for any sushi lover!
Teru Sushi in Studio City is a hidden treasure that exceeded all our expectations. The moment we stepped in, we were warmly greeted by the owner, Mike, who made us feel like honored guests. Their genuine hospitality set the tone for what would be an unforgettable dining experience. The food was simply exquisite. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, showcasing the high quality of ingredients they use. The patio area, with its stunning design inspired by traditional Japanese interiors, added an extra layer of charm to our evening. The lively atmosphere was infectious, especially with two birthday celebrations happening while we were there. The joy and positive energy around us made the experience even more special. Even the valet service was exceptional, with a courteous and professional attendant who added to the overall positive vibe. Teru Sushi is more than just a restaurant; it’s a place where you can enjoy amazing food, a beautiful ambiance, and the warmth of a family-run business. Thank to Mike and Ali, we had such a memorable time. I can’t recommend it highly enough and will definitely be back!
Stopped by here on the way home last night, they had the biggest sushi portions with a really nice presentation. Pricier but well worth it.
Dinner date night at Teru Sushi was an absolutely wonderful experience! I loved the little entry walkway just outside that gives the feeling you’ve been transported away from Ventura Blvd with the relaxing little bench, pond, and other decor. The hostess inside was warm, welcoming, and had us seated immediately. Service from the waitress was also very quick and attentive with making sure we had any items or refills as needed. On to the sushi!! There were so many appealing sounding options from the creative menu names and accompanying descriptions, but we ended up going with the Sushi Combination, ‘Studio City’ rolls, and some Spicy Tuna Rice Cakes. For drinks, we did a Strawberry Nigori Sake, which was a deliciously light and fruity accompaniment to all our sushi! I loved everything we ordered, and also found the portions quite generous, with both of us being left very full. A few notes: For the Sushi Combination, I loved that it came with a little side of miso soup. Relaxing and soothing, miso soup is always a must for me at Japanese restaurants! Also, a lot of the sushi for the sushi combination plate had a bit of wasabi on them…that wasn’t an issue to me, but if you’re someone who doesn’t care for wasabi, such as my partner, that may bother you a bit. The ‘Studio City’ rolls were definite highlights of the meal for the both of us - FULL of salmon, cream cheese, avocado, tempura batter, spicy mayo, AND more….it all went together surprisingly well and was an amazing fusion of flavor, creaminess, & slight heat that ended up working perfectly! The Spicy Tuna Rice Cakes were also very solid and delicious to enjoy! We loved everything we ordered for our dinner, and the ‘Studio City’ rolls are a MUST ORDER! From ambiance, service, and the sushi/other food itself, it was all absolutely a 5 out of 5!! I highly recommend and will be returning in the future to try more menu options!
Shout out to Luis (from Guadalajara Japan) 😂 at the bar! Delicious and reasonable pricing. Not the cheapest but reasonable. Favorite items... Yellow tail with uni, Salmon cream hand roll, you fancy huh, salmon with fresh truffle, and the yellow tail sashimi with ponzu sauce. This is our new favorite spot!
The atmosphere here is great if you get the chance to sit outside in the back. It's not as intimate as I would have wanted, but it's still a great spot. The food was also good, it's not the best I've had, but still tasty. The service here was fantastic, someone was always checking on our table and always had someone clearing empty plates. I would highly recommend coming here! If you do, arrive early to get a good parking spot!
As a regular customer since 1985 I have never been disappointed. When I want Sushi I want Teru. Simple. Fresh. I have many great memories at Teru. The restraunt has a romantic atmosphere especially outside near the ponds. It is with all confidence that I can highly recommend Teru Sushi.
Excellent experience and service. The food was fresh and delicious. We came to celebrate birthday. There was a spacious space for big party. Thank you. Will come again for sure. Now it’s in the list of favorite places to go.
I love this spot! I try to visit every time I visit LA. The staff is always incredibly nice and the service is prompt. I went there for dinner in this visit. It was busy but not too crowded. I have sat on the patio in the past but not this time. Teru Sushi is easily one of my favorite sushi spots in the Studio City area.
I’m not a fan of sushi, but the food in this restaurant was really great. Went here with a friend of a friend who knows the place and we eat what he considered that is best. We shared around 5-6 different sushi and all were delicious. The restaurant is on this location from 1975.
Came here for Dinner with the boys. Wait time for 4 was about 20 mins. We sat in the back patio. From the moment we walked in everyone was nice and inviting. Great ambience and flow to the place. The sushi was fresh and we did not leave a single sushi on the plate. The sushi was not too big and the portions were good. Overall, this is a good spot to have sushi. Enjoy!!
Where do I even begin? Amazing doesn’t even cut it. Phenomenal service. Best quality sushi I have so far. After having so much sake and Sapporo I think my brain had left the universe along with my stomach. Let me say the servers here all work so hard and of course the waitresses they are so attentive and amazing. They have the best customer service. Always made sure we were well taken care of. Even on a busy night. Their sushi boat feeds two but honestly I wish we could’ve just ordered that instead of feeding all four of us with all this amazing plates. I felt so fat from eating some high quality food. Totally worth everything. The scenery is beautiful. Reminds me a bit of being back at home in Japan. So kawaii. I would like to come back in the future because you guys made our night more memorable. Such sweet owners and staff members if your in the area you have to defiently give them a shot. You won’t be dissapointed. If I could give them 10 stars. I so would you guys are fantastic once again thank you so much
AMAZING!! Anyone and everyone should go here. Louis is the best sushi chef we’ve ever encountered his energy was everything. The owners were so kind , the food was by far best sushi I’ve ever had. Must must go!
Fantastic food and a very cute spot. Very authentic and gorgeous setting, fish was so fresh and every dish we had was delicious. Recommended!
Been coming here for 30 years and the sushi has never disappointed. There are so many options when it comes to sushi in LA, but I keep.coming back here for the food, service and the friendly environment.

Great service and truly fresh, delicious food. Love Chef Esa’s personal touch!
Amazing sushi, very fresh! Isa was extremely friendly and prepared the best sushi and sashimi for us. Arash, the manager, was welcoming and professional. We had a great experience.
Our friend Christina Pope took us out for another stellar meal. This time it was Teru Sushi. Ambience was great as we were seated in the back garden area. It was a bit hot back there with the only drawback being a fly who decided to go for a swim in the gyoza dipping sauce, otherwise a great dining experience. Our server Josh was extremely attentive and did a wonderful job making sure everyone was taken care of and satisfied with our selections. The food was very good and well plated. The only complaint was everything came out at one time which made things a bit unmanageable for our 4 person table. I am glad there was only 3 of us. Lastly, I found this a bit entertaining that a fly decided to take a swim in our dipping sauce. It actually fell into, did a swim across the bowl and was able to to climb out up the side of the bowl, sit for a while and then fly away. I have the server replace the dipping sauce after the fly left. 🤣 Very funny to watch.
One of the best sushi spots I’ve been to. High-quality ingredients, excellent taste, and great consistency. Service was top-tier thanks to Mika. Professional, calm, and very attentive. If you value great food and exceptional service, this is the place.

DO NOT order on Uber eats. Horrible experience the crab hand roll was 40% mayo and 40% rice and the rest was crab and avocado. The tuna jalapeño had more pepper than a peppered steak. actually the worst roll i've ever had. the only thing edible was the eel roll which was just a standard eel roll.
