Ok I don’t have any photos but this is actually one of my favorite restaurants, I come here a lot. The service workers are SO sweet and helpful and the food?? Scrumptious, always hits 😩😩 As a vegetarian they have a whole section dedicated to vegans/veggies which is great, love to see it, 10/10 recommend

Omg! We are so lucky that this place is in our neighborhood. Cardamom is as good as it gets. The food is authentic and delicious. The service is top notch and attentive and the atmosphere is inviting, warm with good music as well. We have become regulars even though we only recently moved to Sunnyside.

So glad they opened up! This is one of the higher end Indian restaurant that serves quality Indian dishes at a very very affordable price. Every dish we got was delicious. It wasn’t oil yet still full of flavor and spice. Our waitress was also very friendly and sweet. Can’t wait to come back!

Wonderful little place in Sunnyside. The food is delicious and presented beautifully. The wait staff is kind and attentive. In addition to that, the experience is gently accompanied by a soundtrack of culturally appropriate music. I was gonna give four stars, but couldn't think of a reason not to give five. I would definitely go back.

Love this place! Food is incredible and spot on every time. Also the owner is very accommodating and friendly. Had a mixup with my order and went out of his way to make it right. The go to Indian food spot in the neighborhood, will keep coming back!

My fiance and I came here as part of Sunnyside Restaurant Week, where we got to choose dishes off a pre fixe menu. We have been meaning to eat here for a while, and couldnt pass on this opportunity. We are so glad we chose Cardarmom. The service was really nice, the food was delicious and flavorful and the ambiance was wonderful. We will definitely be returning.

Outstanding food! Anything with shrimp is a great bet!!! They know how to cook them so that the flavors are fully absorbed and the texture is succulent. You won’t find the standard dry and rubbery shrimp here. Service was great and we managed to linger (and eat half the menu) while enjoying a cozy conversation.

After a less than stellar experience several years ago, we were recently urged to give Cardamom another shot. So glad we did!!! The chicken tikka masala and chicken jalfrezi are our favorites, plus the garlic naan and mango chutney! We've been back 5 times now and have officially made this our go-to spot for Indian food. Cheers!

One of the best Indian restaurants I've had the pleasure of eating at. Their chicken tikka is phenomenal. The flavors are out of this world. The servers are wonderful. Compliments to the chef.

I had a wonderful evening sitting in the streetside seating. The food was delicious, and the owner is terrific. The best part of the evening was when the chef came out to chat with us about how our food was and explained how they used the clay oven to cook the food. It is BYOB, stop at Lowery liquors for a bottle of wine or seven eleven for beer, it saves you some money anyway. My only wish is they would dim the lights inside and decorate to add a bit of ambience. But still one of the best restaurants in Sunnyside.

I wish I can give this restaurant 10 stars. I had to personally compliment the chef. The food is just simply amazing. A variety of spices that just make your taste buds come alive. By far the best lamb vindaloo I ever tried cooked to perfection . Truely a gem of a restaurant . Best best best Indian food ever !.... small restaurant but very cozy atmosphere. And very clean....

Not required to eat spicy/hot versions of dishes, so all the lovely spices come through without the pain. I have been DYING to taste the complex flavors of Indian food, but could never get past the heat. The Goan curries are beautiful. Very gracious staff, chef and waitress.

It was our first experience with Indian cuisine, and our server, Anup, was on top! His recommendation and hospitality made our night! We will be back soon!

Our family had the most delicious meal at Cardamom's lovely outdoor dining space today. WE sampled an assortment of appetizers and main courses, divided between familiar Indian dishes and Goan specialties like the Xacutti curry. Everything was beautifully prepared. Our waiter was friendly and efficient and the outdoor space well heated and comfortable. Highly recommended!!

Came to this place after leaving Adda Indian Canteen, due to the bad attitude of the manager. Food at Cardamom Indian Cuisine has EXCELLENT goan/Portuguese food. Servers and chef (Alwyn) were so very nice. The Goan Fish dish, the absolute best. My grandparents were from Goa and this food took me home. Taste of food is very important but service and being treated respectfully is even more important.

We went there on a whim, realizing we hadn’t tried everything in our neighborhood yet, and it was a very pleasant surprise. The waitress was very nice, and the food was great, we go the lunch special and got to try their samosas, along with chicken tikka masala, and chicken makni, all of them tasted very accurately spiced with an attention to not overwhelming like some other Indian restaurants, just giving a generic dish. They were very good. We’ll definitely be visiting again.

The dining experience at this establishment was wonderful. I visited with two friends, and we were all highly impressed with the quality of the dishes. For appetizers, we selected the samosas, croquettes, and lamb chops, all of which were flavorful and well-prepared. Our entrées included the lamb shank, butter chicken, and chicken korma, accompanied by a shared goat biryani. Every dish was expertly crafted and delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning.

Awesome restaurant! The food is DELICIOUS! You have to order the naan bread, the Mango Lasi drink, and all of their dishes are so full of flavor. Each dish that I tried had such a unique flavor profile. The service is top notch too. The waiters are super friendly. Just a really nice little “hole in the wall” for great Indian food.

Brand new place, good food, good quantity and important of all good and courteous staff. Loved the quantity of food provided including the portion sizes of rice and sides. Will surely recommend this place and the prices were good too.

We have gone by this restaurant dozens of times and have said often "We have to try that place", and finally tonight we did. DELICIOUS! Fresh, carefully prepared dishes full of flavor. Very kind and gracious service. Especially liked the Lasuni Gobi (cauliflower fritters), Prawn Balchao and the Samosa Chaat to start, the Tandoor Lamb was beautifully charred and tender, Chicken Biryani and the Goan Fish Curry rounded out a very enjoyable meal with lots of different flavors and textures. Definitely a new favorite.

Absolutely fantastic Indian food. I was coming in without expectations and was blown away by the quality of food, service, and atmosphere. As someone who usually makes the trek out to Jackson Heights for Indian, this place is now giving a reason to stay local! Will definitely be back.

When I made a reservation at Cardamom last weekend for my wife's birthday I didn't expect both of us to immediately fall in love with this place. I'm no Indian food expert but I never would have thought the best Indian food I've ever had would be a couple blocks away. The experience was so good that we decided to come back tonight and it was even better. Between the amazing food and the extremely friendly and inviting staff this is definitely now one of our top three restaurants in Sunnyside!

The food at Cardamom is some of the best I've had anywhere. Everything I've gotten has been fresh and flavorful. There is a wide variety of vegan options and I like being able to choose the protein and spice level. The service is excellent - everyone is so kind and welcoming. Cardamom has made me love Indian food and excited to try more!

This restaurant really has the best Indian and Indo Portuguese cuisine in the area -- even better than the ones in Jackson Heights. We've been ordering delivery nearly weekly from Cardamom for a couple of years, and finally ate in their outdoor seating today. I try a new dish nearly every meal, and it's never been bad. Occasionally, I might try something that's not to my taste, but the food always feels carefully prepared with pleasant and complex flavours. Some favourites have included tofu vindaloo, xacutti, and the methi mutter mallai. Their vegan selection is impressive, compared to other Indian restaurants, which tend to have good lacto-veg menus. This is a must-visit restaurant in Sunnyside.

Truly nice place with amazing food! I’m Italian and we are famous for simple ingredients and simple dishes, so I always been weary to complicate plates with lots of spices… but Cardamon changed my mind! Their food is so delicious I crave it every week! The people working there are lovely and very friendly and nice; I was waiting for pickup and they asked me if I wanted a glass of water while waiting. Never happened before, it made me love the place even more!

A hidden gem! We absolutely love visiting this place. Pushpa Ji, along with the rest of the delightful staff, always makes our experience special. Pushpa ji greets me warmly with her unique nickname for me, Chota Ji, which I truly adore. And the owner, Anil Ji, is simply fantastic!

I came toward the end of their service hours, about 9:20 and was greeted warmly. Service was impeccable and the food was so delicious. I usually get Indian food in Astoria along 30th Ave. None compare to Cardamom. They are not huge and doesn’t seat many, but it is clean, well decorated and the staff is friendly and attentive. I had the lamb methi curry, vegetable samosa, naan and mango lassi. All were perfectly delicious and beautifully presented. If I were to have one complaint it would be that the methi curry could’ve been spicier since I ordered at the highest spice level and found it to be just mild. Still delicious though. I will come here instead of my usual haunts.

This is the best Indian food I have ever eaten, and I have dined in Indian restaurants all over the world. We started with the vegetable samosa which was perfectly cooked and so fragrant and delicious! Then I had aloo gobi mutter, all I can say is that it was so delicious I wished I could eat more!!! The servings were so generous I couldn’t finish it! My daughter ordered the chicken tikki Marsala and loved it. I also ordered a glass of the house Cabernet which was quite good! We loved sitting outside as it was a beautiful evening. The service was excellent and everyone was so nice. HIGHLY recommend and will visit here every time I come back to visit my daughter!

Cardamon has been in Sunnyside for almost a year, But today was my first visit. I ordered the Shrimp Balchao for Starter. For main Entres, Goan Fish Curry with Mahi Mahi and Xacuti curry with Goat. My friend wanted to order butter chicken. I told my friend not to order the his standard order in an Indian Restaurant and trust me. He was very happy after tasting the dishes we ordered. Chef stopped by to see who ordered his signature dishes and to say hello.

Had dinner on a week night and it was wonderful. Service was superb and food was accurate and fast. I haven’t ever had this style of Indian food before - definitely breaks out of the same ole same ole that you get from a manhattan Indian cafe. The food was more home-style with less grease and more fresh ingredients. Naan was fresh and chaat was crunchy. Nice find in the neighborhood! Will come back.

Oh Cardamom! Where to begin. The owner, Anil, has brought a gem to Sunnyside, Queens. My wife and I have been going here ever since he took it over a few years ago. Indian food is my jam and I have a very discerning taste for it. I have also had it all over the U.S. and overseas and I would put Cardamom up against any others. We have tried so many dishes and every one just "brings it" every time. We recommend the Nilgiri Korma, Vindaloo, Saag, Rogan Josh, Butter Chicken.....don't get me going. It's all SO GOOD! I am an active Yelp reviewer and Cardamom is the only restaurant that I have reviewed more than once. I truly believe they are just a breath away from getting their first Michelin star. Once that happens it will be impossible to get a table so you better go NOW!

M

This place is actually insane. Been here three times - it never dissapoints. My favorite Indian spot in NYC/Long Island area by far. Freshest ingredients, amazing value for amount of food they give, amazing preparation. Always so flavorful. Great service. Last time I went with my girlfriend we tried Chicken Caldin (Indo Portuguese Goa style) , and Mattar Paneer Curry. Got some Naan as well, (clearly made to order with insane flavor), as well as samosas and onion pakora. This place is irresistible. Also the staff is really kind and attentive. Come here for fantastic eats!

I had been here about 2 years ago, had a delicious chicken byriani. They have since renovated the place, it looks elegant and beautiful inside. I ordered chicken byriani and naan and salsas. The samosas were fresh, non oily, delicious. The chicken and rice were very flavorful with spices and herbs and parsley! Definitely will come again and bring my family

I invited my friend to a fancy Indian restaurant in the city near 14 street and union square the food had a nice presentation but when we tasted it, it did not fulfill our expectation. My friend promised to take me to the best Indian place in New York and she was 100 % right! We came to Cardamom and I had the real and best experience ever, I felt the authentic flavor of Indian food!!! I would definitely highly recommend this place and I can’t wait to come back soon with family and friends! Not only food is great but all the staff and owner are amazing too!!!

M

Made a pickup order and it was ready in good time. Walked in to pick it up and realized it was really cute in there, the decor is very classy and made me wish I had dined in instead. There’s a small bar with 2 seats in the back that I would love to sit at. The lady who helped me with my order was super sweet and friendly. Ordered lamb korma extra spicy. Gotta say, ridiculously good flavor. The sauce was rich and creamy with lots of great spices. The cardamom, anise, etc. Slivered almonds sprinkled as garnish was a nice touch to tie in the almond-based sauce theme of the dish. Spice level was nice (it can always be spicier in my opinion, but that’s a ME problem, not them!) Lamb portion was generous and fork-tender. A lot of places tend to get skimpy with the more expensive meats like lamb or goat, but not them! I was very pleased. Rice was also cooked perfectly and lightly fragrant as well. I’ve lived around the corner for 5 years and never ordered from them. Glad I did tonight, and I’ll be going in to eat next time versus take-out.

Best food, service, and quality in the neighborhood and beyond! Every dish we've had here, both dine in and take out, have been incredible. The butter chicken (it's shredded for maximum flavor), lamb chops, biryani, garlic naan, all appetizers, all the curries have been hits. Their desserts are also underrated. You have to try their homemade pistachio ice cream and if it's on the menu, carrot pudding. The owner and staff are warm and friendly, so you always feel welcome and taken care of. Highly recommend this spot!

A friend and I had dinner at Cardamon last week, and we both agree it was some of the best Indian food we have ever had. Very flavorful and absolutely delicious! Our experience was only made better by the restaurant team. Everyone with whom we had contact was exceedingly helpful and friendly, although special mention needs to go to Ashma, our server. She is exceptional at what she does!

I have been meaning to try out Cardamom for a while but never got around to it, until this year's Sunnyside Restaurant Week. I am so glad I made the decision! Every single dish I tried (the samosa chaat, Chicken 65, garlic/regular naan, chicken vindaloo, tandoori chicken, and gulab jamun) was absolutely delicious and easily beat the vast majority of Jackson Heights Indian restaurants in regards to both taste and quality. The portions were also very filling and appropriate for the price paid! All of the personnel were quite kind as well. Cardamom's place on the Michelin Bib Gourmand list is quite well deserved. Will definitely be coming back.

First time here on Mother's Day, was referred by a friend. My husband is not a person on trying other culture foods. The waiter lady was patient with him by explaining what they have & the taste. She also said we could bring our own drinks. My husband got, dish called: (CHICKEN TIKKA)-$17 w/ 1 lemon rice-$6 & Garlic Naan-$3. Also, she remembers what children usually order for my children to try: (BUTTER CHICKEN- MILD comes w/white rice & green peas on top)-$17. I like anything, so I told her to give me their popular dish: (Spicy Lambseekh Kabab)-$19 with a side of salad called: Saag Paneer MILD- $15 which my whole family loved. Also, we got 2 starters that the waiter suggested called: Samosa-$5 & Lasuni Gobi-$6. Both we're really good that my children were excited to try there main dish. I attached photos, forgot to take a photo of the starters. Will definitely go back again. Update: Got home and checked on my leftovers, the waiter didn't put all my food to go. Make sure you check your leftover food before you walk out.

This cozy neighborhood spot happens to be not only some of the best Indian fare in the area, but in the greater New York area. Never disappoints. The naan is perfection. The curries are perfectly balanced, and the saag is so thick and luxurious. Can’t wait for my next visit.

Great spot for some tasty Indian cuisine. I went with a large group of people and we absolutely ravaged our dishes. All of the curries were so tasty, you can't go wrong with any. The chicken and lamb were both flavorful and tender. I highly recommend trying a curry with paneer, a type of cottage cheese that is just delightful. It's a small place so make sure to reserve if you go with a group!

9/21/22 my family an I went to Cardamom Indian Cuisine in Queens. My son-in-law had raved about this place and how good the food was. Liking Indian food I was excited about going. First and foremost we were quickly seated and our server was extremely helpful. Both my daughter and her husband have been there several different times so they knew exactly what to order. The owner came out and spoke with us and he was such a nice gentleman. Overall I saw the service was excellent For starters we got the vegetable Samosa they definitely did not disappoint it was a crispy turnover that was stuffed with potatoes and green peas the flavor was outstanding and the sauces to go with it were absolutely marvelous. Next we added the spicy lamb dish of Nilgiri Korma this dish absolutely just melted in my mouth the fresh ground met the coriander leaves in the coconut to finish it off was just one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. And Indian food. Next kind of butter chicken which is my daughters favorite dish it had yummy cubes of chicken and it was cooked in a creamy sauce I think tomatoes and yogurt gravy oh my goodness it was just lovely. Another dish with the Vandeloo spicy ham oh it had curry and rice coconut finish we got every one of these in spicy because we love the hot spices. She cut me a meal we got the garlic naan bread with cilantro and then again we got one of my daughters favorites which was the tomato rice basmati rice was flavored very well and was also excellent. If I could give Michelin ratings this would be one that I would write about and give stars to. I know Main‘s to we finish all of this meal. So of course we took home leftovers for later. And I said a touch the meal was a wonderful little ice cream dessert with that little round cake tasted like it had been soaked in honey. Which only complemented the mail more. Thank you for a Memorable meal and excellent service.

Definitely try their nun, it is really well made. Their spicy fish was well made too, great distinct taste of all the spices. Their biryani could have been better! Service was really good and the owner of the restaurant was very tactful towards customers.

One of the best indian restaurants in queens. I love the taste of the foods. The cheese naan was good but I expected more cheese inside the naan. The quality of the Basmati rice is awesome compare to other Indian restaurants. Lamb karai was so good and tasty. I want to talk about the quality of the service and it was so good, the lady waiter was so concerned about us and the service was so nice. Definitely I’m gonna come back with my friends.

First time having this since they changed ownership. Same chef. After walking around a while it was the place I felt the best for outdoor seating on a really cold night. Mostly closed but open enough to be ventilated. The food was delish! Service was great. Bill was cheap because BYOB.

We dropped by on a Sunday afternoon for an early dinner and were not disappointed. We ordered pakoras and samosas to start and each was a delicious explosive flavored small bites. The entrees, butter chicken, another chicken dish a specialty of the Goa region) and chicken biryani were as delicious.we had enough leftovers for 2 more meals. Service was attentive and professional! We will be back.

I like a few things on their menu. It's a great takeout place. I've tried only a few things on their menu and enjoyed it. As a sit-down place though I'd give it only 2 stars. It's a dark and not so well maintained restaurant, not a great service and some native television shows playing the whole time. But a great place to pick up food from if you're in the area. EDIT: actually, a lot has changed here since the last time I been here. The service is very good now and the place also seems renovated. A very different experience I have on this visit. Also, food is so good!!

Best nun breads. After the change of ownership, this place really kicked up the flavor. But they can get some better quality meat. Good service as well.

Small new Indian restaurant. Large menu variety including tandoor, curries, and a few Goan specialties. It was cash only, but I think only due to tech issues that evening. No liquor license at the moment, which other customers were asking about (it was Friday night). The korma was very flavorful, I would order it medium level spicy as the mild was truly mild. The Chef was very attentive to Feedback from other patrons. Definitely order the onion pakora, they were some of the best I’ve ever had!

I tried Cardamom because it is on the Michelin Bib Gourmand list for NYC. It's good, but not great. It's only marginally better than food in Jackson Heights, such as Jackson Diner or Angel --- and both of the aforementioned places are about 1/2 the cost of Cardamom. Didn't try the cuisine from Goa, so I would come back to try that since it's so niche, but we got tikka masala, garlic naan, onion kulcha, chicken 65, and alcohol --- the bill was almost $90 including tip. The service is friendly, attentive, and polite.

Food was great and the waiter was nice, but we found a staple in our naan. They immediately apologized and changed it, but I was expecting for them to at least take the naan off the bill or give us some kind of service on the house considering it could have caused a serious health hazard. I realize mistakes happen, but the manager could’ve done a better job of the customer service compensating for the experience.

Service was helpful. Food was disappointing. Probably some of the most hit and miss I’ve had. Highlights: Curry was well seasoned. Chicken was fresh. The bad: Naan was full of breading and flavorless. Samosa was well fried but again, a lot of breading and very little filling (maybe a teaspoons worth). Mango lassi was very sweet and artificially flavored. Not natural tasting. Conclusion: All in all, most of the food was mediocre save for the curry itself but the owner/chef wasn’t there so who knows if it would have been better had he been present. Final verdict: For 45 dollars I would not recommend.

Horrible service with one of the worst Indian food I have ever had in my Life. I used to go there with my family at least once a month. Food was so good back then. But I really don’t know what happened in last 6 weeks!!!! Food sucked when I went there 5 weeks back. Now I went back like on January 31st 2022 and it was horrible. Butter chicken of this place was of the hook but it seemed like they lost their mojo. Tanduri items are messed up along with Goaniz cuisines on the menu. It was our favorite restaurant but not anymore. Minus 100 star for the food and service. Don’t go there all Indian food lovers.

NVM just got food poisoning after my meal — Very good. Wish the malai kofta had more than 4 dumplings. The entrees are a little pricey ($20+ per dish) but the service was excellent. I love that you can add tofu to any curry.

Good place. Fairly consistent. This is my major complaint. When ordering anything ANYTHING with broccoli they don’t stop cutting at the point of woody stalks. I cannot count the times that I have had to spit out what feels like a piece of a 2x4 in my mouth and throat. For heavens sake I’m all for using up food, but when it’s all the time you’re sacrificing my health as I have gagged on this and its splinters! It’s horrible to have this happen every time we order vegetable Korma, and we order this A LOT!!! I’d make it 4 stars but once again, I had to spit this out. When your dinner is a minefield who needs it? PLEASE if you can’t cut it, don’t use it. 7/29 update - again we tried and AGAIN I sat there spitting out multiple pieces of Inedible petrified broccoli because they’re so cheap they use the worst pieces. Done.
