Sotto le Stelle Long Island City Reviews
What a great dining experience. Staff were very welcoming and the restaurant had a great vibe. The pasta had an amazing texture and was accompanied by generous portion of sea food. The pizza was fresh straight out of brick oven. I appreciate the soft texture of cheese inside the crust. The price of the dishes were very reasonable.
This is absolutely delicious! Whether it is for dine-in or takeout, I’ve loved the food they serve here. My favorite is the Star Pizza, it comes with a creamy and delicious ricotta cheese crust that just goes perfectly with the prosciutto. It is so well balanced and tasty, it is an 11/10. My friend this time we went ordered the octopus I believe and said it was really good as well. Here are some pics. This place is a must try for sure if you’re in the area.
Delicious food and a friendly vibe - what’s to not like! Came here on a nice summer day and the outdoor seating was fun and packed. All the food we ordered was delicious and they had some great rotating specials. Definitely stop by if you’re in the area because it’s worth it. Also, get the tiramisu! That was the star of the show!
Cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and delicious food. The pasta was perfectly cooked with rich, authentic flavors. Definitely a place I’d come back to and recommend.
We loved this place, we are Italian but we live in ct, and I find this restaurant vey interesting. We ordered bruschette with tomatoes for appetizer, then 4 pizzas and 2 dessert. Very good quality of the food, we really enjoyed everything! The staff of the restaurant were amazing, and some of them are Italian, we appreciated so much the hospitality 🫶🏻
Best italian spot in queens maybe nyc? I am biased since I became a local in my short yr in sunnyside. Miss visiting this place weekly and chatting with the staff and Marsat! He really made me feel at home away from home. I will always make it a point to stop by next time i am back in the old neighborhood! ps: their backyard is a lil gem in sunnyside be sure to ask to be seated in the back ;)
Very busy and a little confined but got settled out back where it was quieter. Food came out quickly and was delicious. Calamari was cooked perfectly and both pizzas were divine. Will definitely go back
This restaurant is truly authentic Italian, and the food quality is exceptional. We ordered the Prosciutto & Arugula Pizza and the Diavola Pizza. The crust is classic Neapolitan style — thin with a slight chew — and honestly, it’s all about that crust. The sauce was full of flavor, perfectly balanced with just the right amount of cheese and a little kick. The prosciutto pizza was equally delicious. The Seafood Pasta was on another level. The dish is prepared in a pan, then topped with a thin layer of pizza dough and baked in the oven to form a perfect dome. At the table, you peel back the dome and dip it into the rich, flavorful sauce — OMG, it was incredible. From now on, I’ll be comparing every seafood pasta to this one. If you love seafood pasta, this is a must-order dish. I only wish I lived in New York so I could visit Sotto Le Stelle more often. The service was outstanding, and it’s clear the Sotto Le Stelle team takes great pride in the food they serve. Our server, Bigo, was wonderful — friendly, attentive, and added to the overall experience. We definitely will be back.
My wife found the spot looking for pizza. We had about a 15-minute wait for a table. Staff was friendly. The pizzas were good, reasonably priced, and served fairly quickly. My wife had a seafood pasta dish baked into bread. She liked it. It is a bit of a cramped location but that is dinner at most smaller restaurants so it's expected. We will likely return again.
We are big fans of their sister restaurant just a few blocks away and this one may be even better because of the pizza and the outdoor patio, which are huge pluses. Service, food and ambiance are incredible. Loved the prosciutto and arugula pizza, as well as the fried artichokes, octopus and lemon gelato for dessert.
Excellent service & delicious foods!!! We were seated right away & water was brought to us & poured immediately. Here are what we got: 1.Fritto Misto - was okay :) 2. Tiella Pasta - yummy! Loved that it was baked in pizza dough (which was surprisingly tasty to eat with the pasta!) We just wish the portion was a bit bigger Generous amount of seafood compared to the pasta. The sauce was addicting. 3. Angel & Devil Pizza - SO. GOOD. The pizza was thin w/ crunchy crust. The center was so flavorful (maybe too much?) but we ate it with the crust so it evens out. 4. Tiramisu - delicious! But halfway into it, it tasted a bit too sweet. 5. Gelato (pistachio & hazelnut) - I wish there was more flavors but they were good! Smooth & melt in your mouth. I didn't know they have a dessert shop next door, I found out by noticing that the manager went out the restaurant & came back with out gelatos, which amusing to watch. Lol. But if you notice, they pass the desserts through a window by the bar. Oh! & we got 2 shots of limoncello on the house when we got our check! :) All the staff was very attentive, everyone was friendly, the food came out quick, & the experience was superb. The atmosphere was cozy & welcoming. Highly recommend & we will be back to try ALL the pizzas!
Amazing, amazing flavor. My friends who have been to Italy marble at the taste and quality of the pizza. I don't ever recall having pizza that tasted this amazing. The pictures don't do the food justice but you must, must go and try it. I took a pie home for my friends to try and they will go for the experience. Their Italian beer is tasty too.
After our 3rd visit to this place, it is valid a great Review. The first time that my wife and I visited it was pact, and we were offered a seat at the Bar. In that particular night this guy (it was the owner or the guy in charge) was here and there making cocktails, moving tables, taking orders etc. The place is cozy and has a outside patio in the back we'll decorated and a wooden oven that makes a great pizza. Margarita and Diavla are our favorites, the price is moderate and the service is great. We will definitely stoping by again to keep delighting ourselves with more of this great pizza !!
I came here with my brother and his friends and we had such a fun time chatting and eating good food. The place has A LOT, and I mean, A LOT of pizza options but out of the 4 ones we ordered, I recommend their Star Pizza because it has just enough of everything. We also ordered Carbonara Pizza but I do not recommend it; it was too salty for me. The true star were the desserts; the homemade gelato really took it for me. As an avid ice cream and gelato lover, I think I’d come back just for the gelato.
Staff were friendly and professional but the food was disappointing. We were told that they weren’t serving pizza which was a bummer. The polpette didn’t taste homemade and had a boiled texture. The bolognese pasta tasted like Ragu sauce. The la gricia bacon was overloaded so it was extremely salty. What sucks is that it’s pricy for what you’re paying for. It also doesn’t help that the air dryer in the bathroom doesn’t work and there were no paper towels.
This review honestly hurts to write because the food was great and our waiter was one of the kindest, most respectful people I’ve ever been served by. He immediately made us feel welcome, recognized that we were Muslim, and carefully walked us through what we could and could not eat. His customer service was beyond excellent. What completely ruined the experience was the way he was treated by who I believe was the manager/bartender (short black hair). Multiple times during our visit, this man loudly yelled at and humiliated the waiter in front of a full restaurant. At first it was in Italian, then it became both Italian and English. He mocked him for not knowing how to use the register and even dragged other customers into the situation, laughing and making comments at the waiter’s expense. The waiter stood there with a forced smile, but it was painfully obvious how uncomfortable, embarrassed, and hurt he was. Watching a grown man be repeatedly degraded in public like that was heartbreaking and deeply upsetting. This happened more than three times while we were there, and the manager carried himself with an attitude full of arrogance and disrespect. I wanted to speak up, but I was afraid it would only make things worse for the worker. No employee deserves to be treated like that—especially one who was doing everything right and giving amazing service. Great food does not excuse abusive behavior. Management seriously needs to reflect on how they treat their staff, because no customer should have to witness something so cruel.
The taste of the food is so uncharacteristic that it can not be described. Pizza and pasta that taste better than this level can be found at any pizza restaurant in New York. The interior and the decoration are mediocre. Pizza was fully burnt. However, what I really want to say more than anything was the staff's manners, which were absolutely below standard. Even though the few customers were eating, they were giggling and chatting loudly among themselves, which made it very noisy and unpleasant. Furthermore, I was surprised by their attitude of showing no care even though we had to call them several times before they finally responded. We felt like we were not being treated appropriately. This restaurant, I never want to go back again. It's not worth the price and to spend time.
