Cẩm Hưng Sandwich & Coffee Sunnyvale Reviews
I’ve ordered at Cam Hung many times. I can without a doubt say that the food is fantastic! Sandwiches are the big and not expensive. Also, whoever makes their baguettes does an excellent job. I love the mom & pop atmosphere and I always feel welcomed ordering food here. This is my go to spot for Bahn Mi. I recommend the 4B with pâté.
I’ve been looking for a good local bánh mì shop near me for a while. Happy to say that the food here didn’t disappoint. The baguette was fresh, crunchy, and very large. The curry chicken was very good, and the pickled sides were fresh and crunchy. I also had a Vietnamese drip coffee, and it was well mixed with an excellent ratio of milk to coffee.
Might seem like a hole in the wall… But they make some of the best Vietnamese sandwiches in the area The owners are a sweet husband and wife combo… Great selection of Asian snacks as well
The chef here is a master bread maker. My banh mi ham sandwich came with the best French baguette I've tasted in the Bay Area. It is superb and puts that other local bread, Dutch Crunch, to shame. I honestly haven't had such a delicious baguette since moving here from New York. The breakout star was the pate chaud. It's chicken or pork pate tucked into buttery phylo dough and the texture was a delightful surprise--light, crispy, and flaky. Talent like this is wasted on just bread alone. I hope the chef ventures into making more types of French-Vietnamese fusion pastries! UPDATE: Ordered the BBQ pork sandwich and still stand by my belief that they make the best French baguette in the Bay Area. I'm guessing that at noon the baguettes will be fresh out of the oven, so your best banh mi experience may be around that time. Know that this is a neighborhood mom and pop store, so until they get to know you service may be a bit gruff and cold. But once they see you're a regular, service is much friendlier. So impressed with this unassuming little shop. Modest facade, spectacular food. ❤️
Very generous portion for the price! Flavor is good too. Love the peanut sauce that comes with the rolls. Rice box comes with a huge chicken thigh, pickles and cucumber. A lot of dessert to try too. Recommend! I gave atmosphere a 4 because it was a bit smoky inside and my eyes hurt, sorry.
Amazing pricing and great flavor! I've been going to this place for months, perhaps a year now, and it never misses. The auntie who works here can be a bit unwelcoming at first. Very straight to the point, doesn't do all the social niceties. She is still very kind though, as she gave me a couple free sesame balls out of nowhere! First impressions are decieving, but the family that works here is super sweet and helpful! 10/10, perfect food, pricing, and I like the people working here.
Listen, don't come to this place expecting it to be a Michelin star restaurant. This rating is purely for what this place is meant to be. The food isn't mind-blowing to me and I don't come here for an elegant ambiance. It's a no-frills, small, mom-and-pop kind of spot to get a quick Vietnamese meal. I come here mainly for a Vietnamese sandwich and am loyal to getting some banh-mi with the pork roll. It always hits the spot for me when I'm craving a sandwich, it's convenient and quick, and the service is consistently friendly. I love these types of places because it feels more like a small neighborhood kind of spot and the owners and staff treat you like you're family. Plus, there's a convenient store component to it so you can also get in some Asian snacks and treats as well.
Super affordable banh mi’s that taste amazing. They’re quick to make them! I keep coming back because of the portion size, taste, and price. Min $8 to use credit card, but practically everything on their menu is $8, it’s just some of the other snacks sold in store might not meet the min. Only downside is that there’s no where to enjoy the sandwiches in the establishment since it’s take out only. There’s no tables outside either.
My favorite Banh mi that I’ve ever had. It doesn’t give my mouth a bunch of cuts, and it’s well priced $9. We like to add egg on ours. The sandwich is fresh and made to order, it comes out hot and the bread is soft, compared to many that have bread as hard as a rock. The rest of the store is like a grocery store of snacks. There’s lots of handmade desserts and Vietnamese foods. I’m a bit curious to try it someday. No place to sit so we eat in the parking lot. Looking forward to coming here again!
I love Bahn mi and all kinds of Vietnamese treats but this place is by far the most enjoyable experience we've ever had. It is just a small business with limited number of items (compared to other places we've been before). But they carefully worked on the taste of every single item they are selling. The host was very nice and attentive and helped us find things we like more. The Bahn mis were super delicious and juicy. We tried bbq pork and bbq chiken and they were amazing. The honeycomb cake is my favorite and it could not be any better. All in all, it was an absolutely amazing experience and we will be back there aoon :)
Was in Sunnyvale for a convention and went hunting for a little hole in the wall spot… Cam Hung on Reed nailed it. Grabbed a couple banh mi to go. Bread was fresh with a nice light crunch, veggies still crisp, meat tender and tasty. Simple, real Vietnamese sandwich flavor… very yummy and still priced fair for the Bay. The shop is my kind of organized chaos. Tiny place, line of people, every inch packed with stuff. Coolers full of basil seed drinks, tamarind tea, Vietnamese coffee… stacks of green and purple jelly desserts, rice cakes, spring rolls, marinated meats to take home. Counter is covered with snacks, candies, steamed buns, random goodies. Staff was friendly and smiling. Little bit of a language barrier but nothing pointing and nodding could not fix. Place is crowded and parking is tight, and there is a small card minimum, but everything I could see looked clean and well kept, which honestly impressed me with how much they squeeze into that space. Bottom line… this is exactly the kind of mom and pop shop I look for when I travel. If you want a legit Vietnamese sandwich instead of another chain lunch, Cam Hung is worth the stop.
Small take out only grocery store that sells food, drinks and snacks. No frills, no seating. Just take out. Bah mi I ate wasn't very fresh at dinner time. Decent price though.
I'll start with the positives: the service is fast, the staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. I ordered a mango dessert and a grilled beef sandwich (#9B). While I initially enjoyed the mango dessert, I lost my appetite after seeing pieces of mango peel in it. The sandwich was so salty and spicy that I couldn't eat more than a couple of bites. Needless to say, I won't be returning.
