We really came to live this place while we lived close by. The staff is usually fabulous. They begin to recognize you right away. The food is really great. Prices are comforting.

I had the chicken enchilada lunch special. Food was hot, arrived in a very timely manner and never once had to ask for a refill or anything. I definitely will be back.

My m-f go to lunch when I'm at work & usually what I crave any other time I want chips & queso. They are warm & friendly, remember my order & it's usually easy to get a table. Closed on Sundays, for worship service 🙏🏻

I've loved Tinos/Martinez for years. (Actually since Martinez was a small location in the strip mall on Gross Rd) Their food is consistently delicious, fresh, and generous servings for the price. We always receive excellent service and are treated like family if we dine in or take-out. My kids are now Tino's super-fans too!

The meat is very tasty and Fast service.Lots of good chips and dip and the waiters are very nice and always make sure you have what you need or request 11/9/2024 Update : I previously gave 5 stars for their fajitas but today I chose something different , Chile Relleno . It smelled spoiled like maybe the cheese was spoiled or the meat or something so I called them to get my money back and she said the manager is not there till tomorrow and nobody can give me a refund until tomorrow after 2:00 . That is unacceptable!!! Someone should always be at the restaurant that can attend to these matters.

My mom was at the hospital at Baylor. My sister and I got together to see our mom and thought we need to eat, told my sister about Tino's. We haven't been there before, but so glad we did it was really great tasting enchiladas just the right spices and chips and salsa was great. My husband and I went there last night for a quick bite and had great service. The food was good, the place was clean and the ambiance was fun! Even the bathrooms were pretty. They have a large menu for all our likes and the kids menu had great options. To top it off, there was a beautifully shaded patio seating with 3 big fans! My kind of place. We'll definitely be back.

We went to Tino's last night and I played it safe with the always delicious chicken enchiladas with green sauce. My wife tried the carne asada. She let me taste it and it was delicious so needless to say we went back tonight and I of course ordered the carne asada😋! IT WAS SO GOOD!!! We were lucky enough to be helped by Natalia both nights!!! She is awesome!!! Of course a delicious meal and excellent waitress, Natalia, made both visits perfect!!!

The whole staff is very friendly and answers any questions you have about the menu. We love that it’s family run too! Was looking for a good place to eat nearby while on vacation. I was quite pleasantly surprised. I figured it would be a decent place to go. But I was quite impressed by the the quality and freshness of the food, the artistic presentation of it, the very clean environment, the colorful surroundings and memorabilia, and the honor of having Chef Tino cook for us himself. I was invited to lunch at this restaurant that a friend frequents. I was smitten as soon as I got out of the car. The smell alone had me hungry. We were both greeted upon walking in, seated, and immediately asked what we would like to drink. Our waiter George was great to share some favs with me. The service was just as great as the food. My friend told me about the sweet tea from this place so I had to taste it. Remember your mother telling you not to drink before your meal? Well, I lost myself at the bottom of my cup. 😁 Then, the salsa and fresh hot corn tortilla chips made their way to our table. OMG, I could just drink the salsa alone. It was everything to my palate. The flavor was fulfilling with every bite. When I looked into my cup, I actually could tell you every single ingredient that made this salsa desirable. This wasn't that store bought stuff. This was the when is it going to be ready salsa. Now for our food. She ordered the chimmey chunga meal, and I ordered the Mesquite special which consisted of one beef enchilada with the gravy and one sour cream chicken enchilada covered in real sour cream, rice and frijos, not that powdered stuff made from a package. Not calling out any restaurants. But, know your food. Especially Mexican cuisine. My plate was piping hot when it arrived at the table. The food was filling and satisfying. I can tell you that what we ate was less than $30 for our meal. I highly recommend Tinos for lunch and dinner. I even went back just to buy some sweet tea. It's addictive (sorry diabetics) but the food was awesome! I will be visiting again after the holidays. Oh, let me not forget to mention that they do sell authentic pork tamales, too. Went for 2 b-day gatherings. Service & food was good as always. The only thing that isn't so great is the only special thing they will do/provide for b-days is a sopapilla. Tinos has always been reliable for good and friendly, fast service. It's been one of those go to places for us when we want to go eat but not sure where. Milanesa chicken has been my usual, but I'm fond of the chimichanga as well or the occasional Chile relleno. It's a welcoming, comfortable place.

The steak fajitas are really excellent. The flavor is one of the best. Salsa was good but the queso was bland that was on top of my enchiladas. I added a bit of salsa on top of my queso topped steak fajita enchiladas and boy howdy it was excellent.

The food was ok. I got the chicken enchiladas and double rice. The question sauce needs a little more cheesy flavor (more on light to no cheese taste side) and the chicken was kinda dry with light seasoning.

Good TexMex. A step above average. The price is reasonable. Service is average. Food is occasionally not consistent in seasoning and freshness. But, over all, pretty good. There are no margaritas or any other alcoholic beverages.

Good, decent,consistent standby Mexican food. Family owned Restaurant(s). They have Tino's too in Plano on Avenue K. They also own the Bull's pen Cafe in Sunnyvale on Interstate 80. And they have the Martinez restaurant in Mesquite on Gross Road. They have good chips and hot sauce, good enchiladas, good fajitas, good tortilla soup, good sweet tea. Never had a bad meal here! I eat here often, as my office is very close by. Service is good during lunch, they seat you right away and your food is served right away as well. what I like thru the years is that there food is consistent, taste the same every time. very good food, prices are reasonable.

The staff is very accommodating. We have our Bible study there 4 times per year. They are always so nice to us. The food is very affordable and always fresh.

Nice place for family dinners. Went here with my son's granparents. Very friendly staff, and as I am aware , a family owned establishment for many years as well as two other restaurants owned by them in Mesquite. Jalapeno poppers seemed to be homemade, and I believe their tortillas are as well.

Food here is very filing and makes your taste buds happy! I had the Tamales and they were so good. The service is great and the atmosphere is welcoming. The bathroom was so clean and nice I had to mention it.

I absolutely loved the Guiso Ranchero the 1st time I ate here, however the 2nd time was not as good...over half of my beef was fat and grissel and I couldn't eat it. I usually get the Guiso at Martines, but the last time I ordered Guiso for pickup at Martines, there was no Guiso in my bag when I got home, Just rice and beans at around $15.00

Tino's is a great place to eat dinner. You will be seated quickly, and taking care of immediately. We really enjoy the fajitas for two with rice and beans. The tortillas are always hot and fresh. Chips and salsa come to the table promptly. Great dining experience.

Great food and have always had excellent service. The only thing that keeps me from going more often is the fact that they do not serve any kind of alcohol. It would be nice to have a beer with my dinner. I know that liquor is harder to get a license for, so ok with no margarita, but beer and wine, at least, would be nice.

Service was great and the restaurant was clean. The enchilada plates seem more hardy than my tamales plate.

The food and service were very good. Good prices, 10.00 for lunch. Only issue was the temperature of the dining room. It was very cold.

Tinos is about average for Tex-Mex. It's a local favorite here in Mesquite/ Sunnyvale. Food is served promptly, it's hot, The service is only about average. Prices are reasonable.

My family had an early dinner here. We had the guiszo plate, the flautas plate and the kids quesadilla plate. Let me start by saying the chips and salsa was good. The salsa was actually spicy. The spouse said his guiszo plate was good. The flour tortillas are "real" and delicious. My flautas we're huge could have better with more chicken in them. The kids plate was smaller than expected my kid said it was good as a well. Our server was friendly and was consistent on checking on us.

Tacos are not cooked properly. There's a mistake in my order. I only ordered chicken taco, but it came with beef in it. Despite mistake from restaurant side, i still got charged for that item.

Nothing special, Decently priced. Got several dishes, they all tasted pretty much the same. They coats the dishes with cheese and other topping to keep it alive.

I would say average Mexican food. Prices are reasonable. The overall value for our experience was low to medium. The parking was limited. With less than 10 tables at 8:30 on Thursday night the quality of parking available was poor. Looks like the workers get any parking close to the entrance. But, this was my first visit and we went 30 minutes before close.

The Horchata which I'm a big fan of was fabulous to say the least, service was decent I won't say great or bad it wasn't busy either service was just maybe a 6 out of 10. The food quality was good and quick too and cooked al the way through. Once again the negative remarks go to the servers there attitude wasn't the best and didn't check on us but 1 time while we were there and mind you there was only us and 4 other parties of 2 and 3. Would I go here again yes. The price wasn't to terribly bad for 2 people we spent about 45 dollars but we had drinks and appetizers along with our meal.

The food is excellent, but the service leaves much to be desired. The waiters are always in a rush—before you even finish eating, they are already asking if they can take your plate, which feels pushy and unpleasant. Also, when calling ahead to have food ready, the person answering the phone is extremely rude, curt, and makes the interaction uncomfortable. That said, I keep coming back because the food is truly worth it. I only wish they would improve their service so customers don’t feel pressured or uncomfortable by the staff’s attitude.

I've been here several times and most times they are okay. I was in here on Friday and the salsa was bland. I got their tamales and the chili on top tasted like a can and the meal was lukewarm.

A confused Mexican restaurant. Not the cheapest prices but some of the cheapest food. You bring me rice shaped like a cup with not much flavor. The picture is milanesa chicken which was alright, but nothing to write home about. Sunnyvale just doesnt have any good offerings.

I had a chicken tostada and a beef taco. The chicken tasted like it was canned chicken and the lettuce was yellow. How do you expect to produce good food when you start out with low quality ingredients. The beef taco was so salty due to the lack of their creativeness. BAD

Our server was an excellent and professional example of how to make a customer's experience top-notch. A great-haired gentleman of class. Thank you Sir. HOWEVER. Although the establishment is lovely and the food is good, it is terribly over-priced for what you actually receive and it's served with a disappointing presentation. This establishment does not put lettuce, tomato, or any other traditional nacho fixings on a $7.59 "half-portion" plate of beef fajita nachos. This plate LITERALLY consisted of EIGHT chips, dabbed with beans and topped with a small amount of minced fajita beef. It only came with a condiment bowl of canned pickled jalapenos, & a dab each of sour cream and guacamole... I would have been charged extra for real nacho toppings..... Note: This lunch was supposed to be a gift for my 40th birthday, on Cinco de Mayo... Disappointing.

Having eaten at Tino's, Martinez and Bulls Pen for over 20 yrs. and my wife was eating her enchillada dinner when she pulled a sliver of a steel brillo pad for cleaning pots and pans out of her mouth. Staff seemed less than concerned about the experience, were more interested in getting us out of the restaurant.

Absolutely the worst Mexican food I've ever had. I ordered a simple dosh you just can't get wrong, and they somehow managed to make it inedible. Sour cream chicken enchiladas. How do you mess that up? My not using sour cream or anything that even comes close to sour cream. They spread the outside of the tortilla with something that looks like fluff, and tastes like rotten milk. Whatever they did, the cream party was dry and liked like marshmallow fluff, wth, and it was too much like acid reflux taste. Not kidding. The rice was horrible and super dry and the beans had to be reheated from last month. $30 down the drain. The 2 plates weren't hardly touched and the waitress never asked why! Never again. I'd rather easy at a gas station.

Service was pretty bad at this location especially for their prices. Bernice was the waitress. The tilapia was not fresh and smelt bad. Got it exchange for enchiladas and it was better but just bland. Waitress was rushing us to sign our receipt at the end of the meal. That did it for me. Mesquite location was okay a few years ago. I don't like giving bad reviews on any businesses but if you need to improve your service and food.

Ordered tea with a couple of extra lemons. They wanted to charge extra for lemons. No thanks. Nacho plate literally had maybe $1 worth of food on it and there is no way you can tell me it wasn't microwaved. Horrible experience. Never again.

Love the food when it’s good but hit & miss. Not consistent. Got simple cheese enchiladas watered down cheese sauce. Cheese inside not melted & foreign objects that are NOT part of a cheese enchilada meal. Stuck in my teeth. Grossed me out. Looked like a chicken feather. Bought 2 meals. Called & was told mgr not in & could not refund my meal off my credit card. Only ask for credit back for my meal not the whole ticket. SO what could have & should have been easily resolved ended in this review. Again when it’s good it’s good. Been eating every Wednesday for awhile. NOT again & I’ll get my $ back by contesting charge with my card. Totally avoidable. If you can TAKE $ you can refund it back. Could have cared less. Workers don’t understand they can RUIN a businesses reputation. Owners should never not have someone capable of FIXING things

The food tasted like cafeteria food. The tortillas were decent. I got the nachos and I’m pretty sure my plate was in the microwave for 10 minutes. It was so piping hot my chicken looked like cat food. My waitress rushed me to order. My queso bowl was cracked and missing a sliver out of I didn’t notice until I was half done with it. Idk how these guys have 4 stars, but I would never recommend.

A friend went there today, been there several times. They ordered water with lemon for their drink and the meal. When they brought the water out she asked for extra lemon, the waiter said there would be an extra charge for addition lemons. Are all restaurants going to be nit picking for extra ways to get your money. Hope they find enough fools to pay that charge to make up fir the customers they are going to lose

This is how my food was served to me. I will never ever eat here again. This is going in the trash cause it looks like slop. To think this would be served to any customer is ridiculous.

Hey everybody I just wanted to give you a heads up on Tino’s in Mesquite it’s kind of borderline Sunnyvale but it’s off of Collins and right across from Baylor Scott and White. This review is from a disappointing and disgusted view of what happened to me today, it’s sad but true. If I could give it no stars I would. This restaurant has been here for years and years and they’ve always been fairly steady and good we’ve been coming for well over 10 years usually doing takeout, eating and we swing by a couple of times a month to get a side of the refried beans. they’re actually pretty good we get the large (16oz) Styrofoam cup and they’ve always charged us six dollars apiece, well today (Jose ) he said he was the manager and that everyone was wrong, all the team members he trained, but yet he had to go in the back and check on the price, now you would think the manager/owner would know this stuff, if that tells you anything) and if I wanted the cup that we’ve been getting it was going to be $10. Now we’re talking about $1.25 at most worth of refried beans to fill that cup up and he wants $10 he said everyone has been doing it wrong for all these years and he wasn’t willing to honor that, and he said he didn’t care what I said, or how nice I asked ( and I said please several times nicely) or what I posted online, he didn’t care whatsoever. He was very arrogant and demeaning to me in front of customers. Do not come to this place that’s not the kind of service you want we’re talking again if beans (beans rice chips and salsa are so very cheap to Mexican restaurants and everybody fills up and loves it and eats everything else but he’s gonna lose business over some beans that he’s already making 600 to 1000% profit at least on) people were talking $1.25 worth of beans to satisfy a customer that repeats and comes back many times year after year after year. So for the difference of $8 today he is willing to lose business. If he would’ve just come across with this has been wrong, I’m sorry, I’ll do it for you today but going forward I won’t be able to do it just so you know it’ll be $10 then we could’ve had something to work with but he didn’t. 😳 Smart business or dumb business you can decide. This guy is a total piece of bad work, I don’t know maybe he woke up with a taco in his butt or something. He is willing to lose not only my business but business from family and friends that I tell about this and hopefully anybody else who reads this review. Question, how can businesses afford to lose business like that at this time, because most of last year Tinos was struggling to stay in business like everyone else. maybe it’s just me but it’s like this guy just jumped off the high board into a pool of Idiocracy and doesn’t care. There are so many more places in Mesquite and Sunnyvale area that are good Mexican restaurants that you can eat at and that give you great service, and great value for your money, you don’t need to come to this place, take your business to the other ones where they appreciate it and will do right and aren’t trying to make 1000% mark up on everything they sell, and again we’re not talking fajitas chicken shrimp anything like that we’re talking refried beans here. Please don’t come to this Tino’s, you will be very disappointed. Anybody that’s not willing to make that concession in this day and time when it’s hard to stay in business is a moron, do not come to Tino’s you’ll regret it if you do. While this was happening a couple came in and were asking about a certain waitress if she was there working today because they said they were told she was, and he said she wasn’t and just a sitdown someone would be with them, they explained that they drove for over an hour and a half to get here (which I can’t even comprehend) but that they needed this particular waitress because there were some kind of something going on but they were promised she would be here to take care of them and again he said she’s not here sit down someone will take care of you... really? Now this is the manager/owner.

Went in and asked a simple question about ordering fajita meat a la carte. Guy at the front seemed very annoyed when I asked him how big the portions were. He was being very condescending with his responses. I just wanted to know, so I would order enough. Needless to say I walked out of there without ordering just because of how rude the guy was. I guess I’ll look elsewhere.
