Mi favorito lugar cubano. This is my go to Cuban spot in Broward, I live in sunrise but all things considered is great. My family also goes here all the time and the restuarant staff is amazing and like family at this point. Always with a warm welcome. We read all the great reviews about Don Calin and they were right. This is the best Cuban restaurant in Broward County. I had a Cuban Sandwich and my wife had the yellow rice and chicken. Both were very good and authentic. I thought I was in Hialeah. Update: My companion and I again returned to Don Carlin. We were greeted promply, seated and served hot Cuban bread and water. Today we both tried the Chicken and Shrimp dinner. It was excellent. Big piece of chicken, 4 large Shrimp and covered with a red sauce. Would definitely have again. Restaurant was clean, well kept, and the family keeps on checking on you. Definitely the best Cuban resturant in Broward. :)

Yesssss!!!!!! So so good!! It was chilly after. all the storms so I started with cafe con leche and it was perfect!! Foamy and delicious! Plantain chips and ham croquettes for the table and they did not disappoint! Everything was delicious and cooked beautifully!! I had the chicken breast with seared onions and the rice and beans and fried plantains. Our daughter had the Cuban sandwich and almost finished it and hubby had the fried pork chunks and ate every bite!

Sister recommended and mom wanted go. The food slaps! Service was great! Highly recommend if you are in the area and craving some quality Cuban food.

The place gots a nice charm to it, when I came here, it was calming and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The food, it was so organized. The rice was nice and fluffy and the right moisture. The shredded beef mixed well with the rice, not spicy but you can taste the flavor dance on the tongue, I really do recommend this place!

This restaurant was a little place not fancy but the Cuban food was delicious and on point. The service was fantastic and the staff welcoming everything we ordered was fantastic. The only thing they served bread but not enough I feel for the table.

Best Cuban food around sunrise. Love this restaurant but I only do take out. Inside is small but usually busy. Service is always great when I call and order and food is always delish. Never had an issue with takeout. The chicken soup is great as well.

We have been coming to Don Carlin for years. This is the best Cuban food ever! I swear, it's like someone's abuela is cooking in the kitchen! And the cortaditos are perfect! So is their lemonade! The employees are very friendly.

Took my cousin from Denver, who had never had Cuban food before. She loved it! She got the fried fish and I got the pork chunks. Both were excellent. Seasoned and cooked to perfection. Staff is friendly and willing to explain everything on the menu. We don't speak Spanish and menus can be intimidating but they treated us very well. Service was pretty fast, but we weren't in a hurry anyway. The Cafe con Leche just can't be beat! I love this place!

I am on vacation, everytime i am visiting, i come to Don Carlin, i always come before i leave, i have never been disappointed. The waiters and waitress are always smiling and checking to make sure everything is okay. Tonight i had the ox tails for dinner and wow, it was perfect. So tasty.

Loved it! Took the family including my mom, who is Cuban, and she loved it. So if she says it's good than you got to say it's authentic. Service was awesome! I had the grilled fish with shrimp and it was excellent. Wife had the roast pork and she said it was amazing. Kids loved it also!

Tried this place a couple of days ago, and shame on me for not doing it before having lived in the area for a long time, but I digress. I will not go into the details but suffice to say, I will be ordering often. I had the ox tail and it was like home made. In fact, my mother-in-law (who makes some excellent ox tail) would be envious. My family feels the same way about their meals. So yes!!!! the gained new clients for sure!

This place is up the street from my old Workshop. I used to regular this place just for the Cuban coffee and empanadas. I always make it a point to stop by here if I'm ever in town visiting family or passing though. I definitely miss the food from south Florida the most and I certainly appreciate it more now that I moved away. This is a great restaurant, so stop by and promote this place with your business. This was a great experience for both my wife and myself. The waitress and other staff were helpful and attentive. It was our first time here and we asked newbie type questions concerning Cuban food. The pork dish my wife ordered was very good, but my oxtail was excellent. It was one of their specials of the day, and it was spectacular!!! It was sooo good we ordered one to go. I had been searching for awhile for a solid Cuban restaurant. I found it! Don Carlin is an amazing establishment. Food is great, it reminds me of other Cuban hot spots that I grew up with down here in south Florida. Complimentary Cuban bread, lunch specials are great...I prefer the Shredded beef. I had a cuban coffee to go which was smooth and perfectly made. I am unable to find any negatives for this wonderful gem. If you seek amazing, high quality Cuban cuisine.

I’m very picky… with that said… cleanliness excellent ✔️ service… EXTREMELY ATTENTIVE ✔️ taste… OMWow! ✔️ it’s hard to find a place where authentic Hispanic food is found in our neighborhood that check out all my boxes. I've been going to this restaurant for quite some time now. Everyone is very nice and helpful and the food is great. Recently, I didn't have the most favorable experience, however, what I value is customer service. The way the issue was handle was exceptional and has restored my faith as a loyal customer. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. I always order their chicken empanadas. They are AMAZING!

Food was delicious. Best part, I'm disabled and I had my service dog with me. They welcomed us into their restaurant, only rule was my dog need to stay under the table during our meal, which of course she did. We had a wonderful lunch, everyone behaved and can't wait to go back to enjoy ourselves again. Bless Don Carlin for having a huge❤.....

Used to come here a long time ago and recently moved back to Florida. Never forgot Chef Carlin. Because it was the best Cuban food I’ve ever had, and glad to say still is!!! Simple and non complicated flavors while perfectly spiced. I’m so happy they’re still here. This family established is a hidden gem in Sunrise. Service was also impeccable, the gentleman assisting me during lunch was such a sweetheart. I can’t wait to be back with my boyfriend and I’m not Gatekeeping this one. Everyone deserves to know about Chef Carlin. I had masa de Puerco, rice beans and plantains, I also tried the ham croquettes, beef empanada and the Flan. All absolutely Devine darling!!! Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to some Chef Carlin.

Took out of town guests there last night who specifically asked for Cuban cuisine, which they can't get where they live. We ordered way more than we needed, so my friends could experience various dishes. Everything was great. Our server, Angelica, was wonderful -- very pleasant, fun to talk with, and really knew a lot about the food, since we asked her a zillion questions.

Had take out with our Son. Almost ordered one of everything and everything was incredible! Can't beat the prices, so worth it.

I had the fried fish. Wife had the chicken (#2 I believe). Everything was excellent. The rice, plantains and black beans were tasty. Loved the onions in the fish. The service was great, staff very friendly and helpful. My wife enjoyed her red sangria. Will definitely go back. We went at 630pm on a Friday. Made reservations. Wasn't crowded when we arrived but was full when we left. Also looked like their take out was very popular.

My husband and I came to this restaurant for the first time this evening...we loved it! And are definitely going back, again. We're already contemplating on who to invite with us the next time. Or who to order the takeout food for. Lol

Chicken milanesa was AMAZING, my husband and i destroyed that. We got other things to share like the roast pork, yellow rice, black beans, fried yuka (a little over done), plantains, a tamal, beef and a chicken empanada, cheese croquette, everything was amazing. This is a new favorite spot, we will try more.

I have seen them treat complete strangers just as well as folks who's faces I've seen going to this restaurant for years. Excellent neighborhood Cuban restaurant. Discovered Don Carlin by accident last night while driving by and discovered a hidden neighborhood gem! The food was excellent with a huge selection of items on the menu including daily specials ranging from sandwiches to full dinners, all at very reasonable prices. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating and we will return often!

Pleasant and courteous staff, prompt service in very clean environment. Staff quickly clears tables of departing guests and sanitize accordingly. Prices of meals 😋 great. The menu for Deserts should be enhanced. Otherwise lovely, homey restaurant with consistently excellent quality tasting meals.

Read some reviews about this place and decided to try it on a Monday night. Staff is very friendly and we were promptly seated. I had Ropa Vieja (Shredded Beef on creole sauce) it was good so we’re the black beans and tostones. Don Carlin has real Cuban food. Café Cubano was excellent!

Actually , this was my first visit in many years as my ex wife used to pick up food for me from this place. Always deliciousI'm glad I got to walk in and see the friendly people there.

1st off I’ve written a 5 star review before cause we love It here. We usually order Chuletas de puerco & all the cuban food is good. But this is now the second time we order chicken tenders for a toddler and they are completely inedible. Soo fried that it’s like a rock. I don’t know why these would be so off the mark.

Food was great. Had a young balding waiter so obnoxious, we had to ask for service, after he bypassed us twice... Don't know that we will go back again...

Was hoping for better quality food bc so many positive reviews. But the food tasted funny my 4 year old even stopped mid chew and wouldn’t eat more. The rice was better than the steak. The shake was good.

We ordered 2 ground beef plates. The ground beef had chicken in it and it did not taste authentic cuban.

This place needs to be cleaned and/or renovated. The food was not the best. The croquetas were mostly flour without much ham in them. The empanadas were over fried and too brown. They should be delicate and light. I probably won’t go back there but I wish them the best of luck.

All reviews say that they have a great Cuban sandwich. So I was in the mood for one so I got one. It was not good at all. Lacked flavor and had sweet pickles instead of dill. Overall not good.

I've given this place about 3 tries because I'm Cuban, and there isn't any other Cuban spot around. But it didn't work. Someone who isn't Hispanic or Cuban might find the food to be good and flavorful. But it's ok at best. I have tried different beans, chicken, steak, yuca, moro, etc It's just not authentic Cuban flavor. I don't know who the chef is, but he isn't Cuban. It is also very pricey for what you get.

Check your credit card receipt. I was overcharged for a picture up order. They said that it's a printed receipt charge. REALLY??? A printed receipt? I used to come to Don Carlin often. I even sat and ate there on some occasion. They've just recently lost a good customer. I'm owed a lot for trusting them when I pay with my credit card. The food also went from good to bad. I'm not going back to Don Carlin. A lunch special does cost $12.29. I was told $10 & some change, which was the norm. READ YOUR RECEIPT!!!

Unfortunately I can't recommend coming here for dinner plates. It's not consistant and a hit or miss. The hot sandwiches are however pretty good.

I was in the area and I wanted Cuban food. I searched for the nearest Cuban restaurant and found Don Carlin. Since majority of the reviews I read were good. I had to try them..big mistake. My food tasted like unflavored yesterday's leftovers. One star is too many to give. The rice didn't cook evenly, it was hard bits of rice in it. The beans were watery and lacked flavor and the plantains were mushy and overly ripe, but the pork was the most disappointing thing on the plate. The pulled pork was mushy with NO flavor and full of onions. Needless to say, I would NOT recommend because it was a total waste of money....

We have been coming here for years and the food and service have gone down hill. Today the manager had the tenacity to ask my husband. "If he was spanish" because he is "white", and complained about the Ox tails seem like chewing on shoe leather...tough 👞 We have been married for 30 years and I am Colombian, have cooked Ox tails for 40 years and pride ourselves spanish cuisine. What a disappointment.

No me atendieron como a los otros clientes. No me sirvieron agua. Pan. Servilletas y nunca pasaron por la mesa a preguntar si necesitan algo. Por eso ni propina les di. Y no pusieron sorvete cuando le pedí un jugo. No lo recomiendo y muy caro. Mientras que algunas meseras si les pusieron agua y pan a los otros clientes. Comer ahí no fue nada lindo para mí
