Pigal Tarragona Reviews
We were so lucky to find this fully vegan restaurant, especially since we were only in Tarragona for one night. It’s honestly a real gem in Spain! The place was really nicely set up and super clean. We got the full three-course menu and a bottle of white wine. The food was delicious and the portions were huge. The staff were super friendly and attentive, and the prices offered great value for money. It ended up being one of the best experiences of our trip.
We really enjoyed our stay here. Nice small selection of dishes for a 3 course meal at an affordable price. Food is presented well and the dishes seem original (with the exception of "standard" classics in the desert section) The staff is absolutely lovely and made this good experience into an absolutely great one.
Highly recommend for all vegan friends! Had the lunch menu consisting of a starter, main and dessert. The tea selection is exquisite! The menue also varies. Very nice staff, lovely experience ! The restaurant is on two levels, so if you peak through the glass door on the ground floor and see just one table – that is not nearly all! The 1st floor has many many tables (also aircon). They partly have gluten free options as well. Also dogs are welcome there :)
Wow!! What a great restaurant, we're so happy that we stopped for lunch! It's the only fully vegan restaurant Tarragona and you're constantly reminded why you're vegan - for the animals! ☺️ The food was delicious and the price was fair! You can choose a full or half menu, I'd recommend the full menu though! 😌 We had the Avocado salad, mushroom pasta, black mexican pizza (OMG!), chocolate brownie and cake. The portions were surprisingly good, we left with full bellies and a big smile on our faces! We'll be back! 🥕
This is a must go and visit if you love vegetarian and vegan food. Beautiful restaurant with a fantastic value set lunch menu for €20 for 3 courses. The food is fresh vibrant and very tasty. Menu changes each week but we had Mexican black pizza and the mushroom risotto. Staff are so friendly and help you through the menu
I have eaten here a few times in May and September 2023. The food is amazing, so original, fresh and elegantly presented. The staff have been friendly and helpful to me as I am learning Spanish. I usually go for the daily menu, as it is such good value and also varied. I have really enjoyed the risottos and cheesecakes. The restaurant is located near to the cathedral and a great place to relax away from the busy streets. El Vergel is highly recommended.
Service: Friendly & attentive. Food: Tasty & fulfilling. Atmosphere: Chill & positive. Came here on a whim with my partner, and both so happy we did. Food was delicious, our waitress was kind and helpful, menu was varied and very affordable. I do like honesty when it comes to reviews, and honestly I can't wait to go back some time and try something else! Great job all!
Me and my husband had a great dining experience here. I had a Black pizza with truffle sauce. It was interesting to see black pizza and was very tasty. My husband had a roasted turkey but was a bit too salty. We being vegetarians are not really sure if it was supposed to be salty or not but overall it was okay to him. Finally we had Selva negra cake and it was tasty. We would say although the prices were a bit on higher side, the food was good.
The croquet with rice and peas was great, and so were the desserts. The leek with chocolate dish was a little strange. The pasta and pizza were good but not as memorable as the croquet and dessert. Loved that our dog was welcomed - they offered him a blanket, water, and food. Very nice staff. The prices were expensive, though.
As a vegan, it really pains me to give this restaurant 3 stars! I normally give amazing reviews, especially for vegan restaurants because I love to support ethical establishments who offer amazing food and have lovely atmospheres. Sadly for El Vergel it wasn’t the case and I have tried MANY vegan restaurants around the world. Firstly there’s zero atmosphere! Although located in the beautiful old town, there was no effort to make it welcoming and cozy. You enter from the ground floor- no reception. Just an empty table. Is it open or closed? Unclear. So you go up the stairs and find yourself in an empty’ish restaurant which looks like a hospital cafeteria!!! White IKEA chairs and tables, bare walls, no earthy colours to represent nature/plant-based atmosphere. So that was the first disappointment. Ok no biggie! The menu had an incredible selection of food to choose from. So that was exciting. We were 2 people, so we ordered a few dishes to share. The croquettes were good, a bit too salty. The activated charcoal pizza was strange- the dough was bland and soft- it would have been great if it had some crispiness to it. And the chorizo came with very oily potatoes and zero seasoning!!! Huge disappointment! I really hope this place improves as it has so much potential to be incredibly delicious and cozy. What a shame.
A cosy, beautifully designed vegan restaurant. When we came for the first time, it was fully booked (likely due to the festival), but the other day we dropped in without reservation around 2pm, and there were lots of free tables. Tacos and aubergine lasagna were pretty good, risotto was tasteless and overcooked to my taste. The menu said "leek, cuccini and asparagus risotto with parmesan", which meant there was one single asparagus twig on top, and I couldn't spot any taste other than rice and parmesan. Moreover, risotto was served on a cracked plate. Overall, the atmosphere and service is very nice; the food could be improved.
We went for dinner and food was generally really tasty, although sometimes lacked seasoning. Nachos were great, as were all the burgers. So nice to be able to eat vegan. But there was no atmosphere, completely silent with no music and service was poor, two meals were forgotten and did not come out until every other person had finished.
