I had mixed feelings as one of the girls cleaning the dining room was friendly and nice. It was refreshing to see as no one likes cleaning up after customers. However, the person who took my order was slow and disinterested. Even though no one was in front of me, it took an unusual amount of time for her to come to the counter to take my order. It appeared she was on her phone, which may have been the reason. After the order, it took much longer than it should have, especially since it didn't seem that busy while I was visiting. A few cars were in the drive-thru, which may have been why it took so long even though I was inside making my order.

service here doesn’t even deserve a 1 star, they take way too long to give out food in the drive thru! they really need to step up their game, either hire someone who is good at taking orders or take the people who work drive thru off. you guys are called a fast food restaurant for a reason, it should take 30 minutes to an hour for me to get my food!

Summary: - Extreme wait times - Bad management - Lazy, incompetent, or untrained employees - Employees eating behind the counter while you wait for a half hour - Lied to me about a refund - Food was what I expected I visited on 8/10/24. I waited at the end of the drive thru line for maybe 5 minutes and the cars never moved, so I parked and went in. There was no line, and maybe 5 other customers, half with food. I ordered a burrito and fries and took a seat. I waited for 25 minutes before I went up to the counter to see what was going on, and they had deleted my order or sent it to the wrong person because it wasn't even on the screen. The manager saw me waiting and gave me a refund (she said). It's 5 days later and no refund on my credit card. There were four employees behind the counter: 1 manager, 1 line guy, 1 drive-thru gal, and 1 other gal standing around eating. The guy making food was told by the manager to make my burrito. He wasn't working on anything at the moment. Then he made another order before making my food. He walked up to me and handed me the burrito, and I then told him I also ordered fries. Instead of turning around to the fries ready in the station directly next to him, he said "ok" and then went back to his station. I had to wait another minute for drive-thru gal (apparently the authorized French fry assembler) to take 5 seconds to scoop me some fries and hand them to me. The manager and another employee were eating behind the counter while I waited for my food. Very cool. The manager has no idea what she's doing; there is nobody expediting, nobody checking orders, nobody prepping food so that the guy on the line can work faster. The stations are unclean, and there's food and bags of tortillas scattered all over the place. The floors are DISGUSTING. One employee was standing around eating. Drive-thru gal was doing a great job for what it's worth. But the employees are either incompetent or don't feel empowered to do an extremely minor task outside of their station. The wait times are entirely self-induced. I've been to this Del Taco probably a hundred times since I was there on opening day, and it's a shadow of its former self.

Before I even do this review let me say del Taco make certain things from scratch. I would give this restaurant one star due to the fact that my food was mixed with old scrapings off of the grill. I let's not be returning here I would not recommend that anyone go here as well.

The staff left drinks out where multiple customers walked past and over them. Because of the uncleanness, I could not bring myself to eat most of the food or drink the soda. When we asked if we could take the drinks since they had been sitting there, the workers refused and were very rude. They also forgot to add the second taco to our order, and when we brought it up, they refused to correct it and insisted their count was right. The food was really gross, and I ended up getting sick afterward.

I had one of the worst fast-food experiences at the Del Taco in Tehachapi. I placed my order ahead of time and still waited about 45 minutes. The staff had a rude and disrespectful attitude and gave me looks instead of assistance. I recieved my order missing items. When I tried to explain, I was accused of being wrong and asked to return all the food so they can count it???.Completely unacceptable service. I will not be returning to this location.

I don't know what's going on with this Del Taco, but whoever owns this one needs to take a car trip to Barstow CA and see what a real Del Taco is all about. I ordered an 8 layer veggie burrito and got one layer of crappy hard rice, 2 pieces of tomato a small dab of sour cream and 2 shreds of lettuce. Seriously what the hell. You guys really need to do better.

About 6:30 pm 4-24-25 They went and said they had a shortage of fries I ordered a number 7, they asked if it* was okay cause we don't have fries, we said no* and requested two chicken tacos, they said it was fine, when I went to go eat my burrito the top was wet and slimy, with the smell of bad breath. After gagging we returned to have the burrito remade they asked* Andrew to make my burrito again when he had the biggest dupers delight smile asking if I wanted less queso. So I knew he did spit on my burrito so I asked for my money back. Going back to get him on camera for my review. They tried to cover for him when I caught him smoking out in the front trying to hide that dupers delight smile. Never again Del Taco!

I get to the drive-thru and look at the menu. It takes about a minute for me to pick what I want. Then I wait. And wait. And wait some more. I see people inside who look like they may be working and a car was in front of me so the system should have been working. But nope, pure silence. No "what do you want to order" or even a "please wait". After 5 more minutes of waiting, rather then wait out my life, I just went to Taco Bell down the street and actually got my order.

I am usually really friendly and patient with fast food staff because I think people can be unnecessarily rude to them but the Tehachapi Del Taco SUCKS. I recently went and splurged on a steak and bacon burrito. When I got home I bit into it and it was cold chicken and Guac, which didn't match my order receipt. Biting into a burrito thinking it is going to be steak and finding instead cold Guac and lettuce is a travesty. I returned to get the correct burrito and the drive through line had 8 cars in it. I tried to go into the lobby but the door had a trash bag tied around the handle to keep the door shut. I cut my loses and bounced because I didn't have time to wait an hour in line. The staff are generally friendly but always under staffed and slow. This location needs new management. I recently contacted corporate about how this location is inconsistent with every other Del Taco I have been to. I recommend not going to this location until management is changed. The light in the drive through has also been out for three years.

I’ve been living in tehachapi for a long time now. This is the only restaurant that repeatedly disappoints me. Every late night I try to order from this “24 hour” restaurant they are “unable to take orders” the health rating here is a “B” rating and I can understand why. I’ve only ever gotten sick here in town. The management here really needs to get it together. Also the fries are cold. That’s the real reason for a one star.
