DB's Rustic Iron BBQ Terlingua Reviews
DB’s Rustic Iron BBQ was a highlight of our Terlingua trip. The brisket tacos were incredible and the salsa was amazing. They were fresh, smoky, and full of flavor. The brisket itself was phenomenal, and the sausage sandwich was bomb. Great food, laid-back atmosphere, and absolutely worth the stop.
We got carry-outs of brisket, pork ribs to take back to our camper. Both were the best we’ve ever had.
This BBQ is delicious. I had the pork ribs and my wife had the pulled pork. It was definitely Texas BBQ at its best. The atmosphere was nice in an open air sitting area and the staff were very friendly and asked several times if we were doing ok or needed anything else. Highly recommend if your down in the Big Bend area!!
Great BBQ after a long day hiking. I had the ribs with potato salad and my cousin had the brisket and Cole slaw. Both were incredible. Highly recommend.
Excellent food. Great prices. Friendly owner and staff. Dog-friendly. Live music on weekends. The brisket tacos were delicious. Not a lot of great dining/bar choices in Terlingua so this was a great find after a couple of other disappointments in town. Went back a second time before we left town.
We ate here on a Tuesday night and I am surprised it wasn’t busier! We had the pulled pork and brisket sandwiches, both were great. The price was a bit high, but understandable for the remote location, so no worries there. The staff were very nice, and our food was ready pretty quick. A nice hearty meal after we were hiking that day.
This place is DELICIOUS! Some of the best bbq I’ve had and I was born and raised in Texas. The brisket is to die for, the sausage is so good, and so is the pork ribs, beans, and potato salad. DB’s may not look like much on the outside, but it’s a must-stop if you’re in the area! Plus, loading up on some protein is never a bad idea when you’re hiking all day. I will add that everyone on staff was so sweet, there’s plenty of seating, lots of beer, wine, and other drink options, and they have TVs in the main area where people were watching sports. We loved their food so much we came back again the day before we left to buy a bunch of BBQ to take home! Don’t miss it!
This is the best place for Texas Barbecue! Southern hospitality is a real thing- the staff down here were friendly and welcoming! The vibes in this place are great! There were picture spots everywhere, a great dining view outside, and easy parking. There are condiments and utensils on all of the many tables. Ordering was fast and easy, with a reasonable price (I have never ordered Texas Barbecue before): 1/2 pound brisket, 1/2 pound pork ribs, and a brisket sandwich for $50. Each serving came with barbecue sauce, pickles, and onions, and the meats came with a slice of cornbread. Despite looking like a small amount, it filled three hungry people! The pork ribs were a little dry (the barbecue sauce salvaged it!) and the brisket sandwich was decent, but the brisket was to die for! It melted in your mouth and dipped in barbecue sauce… delicious! Highly recommend for anyone passing through Terlingua with 30 minutes to spare!
Came here on Tuesday when they were open. Apple Map says they are not but that’s not true. Asked for their recommendation and got their brisket tacos. Although the portion could be better, the taste was amazing and each bite was just blissful. Also huge shoutout to the beans that came on the side. One of the best ones I’ve ever had. Must come!
This little gem will be a MUST VISIT for us when we visit Big Bend next year. We found this through a friend and we were not disappointed. Fantastic smoke on the brisket and turkey. Excellent set-up with Terlingua Ghost Town as a backdrop. I’ve been to all of the Texas BBQ hit spots and this one is right up there. Ask for Don and get ready to hear some stories! LOVED THIS X 100000!
We stopped in from a side trip from Presidio for lunch having pulled pork sandwiches. The staff were friendly and courteous, checking on us regularly. The best part was later that evening as we ordered 1 pound of brisket for dinner. Probably the best I’ve had in years maybe ever. I don’t think I can come back to the area without stopping in for a great BBQ meal.
This place is MUST visit when you are in Big Bend and Terlingua area. We were here last year and this year we were blessed and visited DB's again. This unassuming place amazed us last year so we definitely had to return. The atmosphere, surrounding of the restaurant, staff, food... All is absolutely amazing. And because we are meat lovers, we managed several visits there. They have so amazing brisket. So tender, perfectly seasoned, mouth-watering. We had a nice talk with Mr. Bauchman. He even remembered us from last year :-) There take place live music performances as well so you can enjoy great food, nice music, just perfect place to get back :-)
Tasty BBQ spot. Had the Brisket, Pork Ribs, Slaw, and Beans and everything was good. Probably the best Slaw I've ever had. The medium hot BBQ (Chile de Aibol, sp?...it was smugged on the bottle) was hotter than I expected so I'm guessing the hottest sauce is extremely spicy. Their sweet BBQ wasn't spicy at all. Had quite a bit of seating inside as well as a good size covered patio with a stage, with cornhole game out back.
Brisket and roast turkey with a side of waffle fries. Great bark on the brisket, fork tender and juicy (a little on the salty side, maybe because I got the small end of the brisket. Turkey was juicy and delicious and the fries were literally the best waffle fries ever. The best part is the steady stream of locals keeping it interesting. Absolutely awesome customer service, stop by when passing through!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Visiting the area and stopped by here for dinner. Specifically, I had the brisket tacos, turkey, brisket and fries. It was all very delicious and well made. The flavors were 10/10 and so was the service and atmosphere. Also, the beans are delicious 😋 I’m so glad I got to experience this and I hope you do too.
Rustic Iron BBQ appeared out of the corner of my eye like a mirage in the middle of the West Texas Desert. I had been driving for hours to Terlingua TX, on my way to Big Bend National Park. I was tired, hungry, and hot. The AC in my old truck doesn’t work and temp on the day I visited was a very warm 119 degrees. I pulled in to DB’s RIB after their lunch rush in the early afternoon. The place is a modest metal building w a covered patio at first glance. The inside, by contrast, is a well designed, from the bar to the bathrooms, with all the charm of a rustic, desert, BBQ restaurant. It was warm and inviting, and the smell of smoky Mesquite wood was perfect. I ordered the two meat plate with brisket and ribs. It was so so good. The ribs were perfectly smoked and didn’t need any kind of sauce or seasoning added. The brisket was moist, but not fatty, easy to eat, sliced, perfectly smoked to perfection. The owner of the place, “DB”, came out to my table to see how everything was, (which it was obviously perfect), sat down, and we exchanged stories about pretty much everything you could imagine. He was an absolute delight to talk to. I guess I wasn’t expecting the owner of a restaurant as good as his was to be as down to earth as he was, as compared to the bigger city restaurant owners who tend to stay in the background when it comes to customer relations. I highly recommend DB’s Rustic Iron BBQ! Best BBQ in Texas!
The brisket was okay: a little dry and appearance of bark - without the flavor The ribs were a little overcooked. Beans were good. Sauces were good. We had to put up with three unleashed dogs running around and barking through our meal.
Decent barbecue and sides. We had brisket, slaw, waffle fries, house margarita and beer. It was all good. Maybe a little pricier than home, but it’s Terlingua and restaurants are scarce. Pricey for them to get ingredients down here so I get it. The restaurant atmosphere was rustic and cool. And service was good, too!
We tried this BBQ place after a long hike and left pretty underwhelmed. We ordered brisket, pulled pork, sausage, and a brisket sandwich—everything was just okay, nothing memorable. The dining room was loud with bright fluorescent lights, so we sat on the patio instead. What really put us off were the cheap, no-name condiments and dirty, half-empty BBQ sauce bottles. It didn’t give us confidence in their quality or cleanliness. Also, be aware that the cashier asks for tips even though there’s no table service. Overall, not a place we’d go back to.
