Billy’s Stone Crab Tierra Verde Reviews
Amazing!! This is my first time visiting and I've already made this my favorite hangout of all time! From the galley bar to the "loft" - there are eclectic and hand-selected nautical themes all around the buildings. My favorite is the loft which offers spectacular views of the water, and reminds me of being at a deck bar on a cruise ship. The pictures don't do it justice - you HAVE to see this place in person to appreciate how wonderful it is. I came for a quick lunch and had the fried haddock with fries and pineapple coleslaw. The fish was cooked perfectly with a thin light batter coating. It was fresh and delicious. The pineapple in the slaw gives it a refreshing sweetness and complements the tart cabbage. The fries were good but I think they used old oil - so they had a metallic taste. Overall, the staff were attentive and friendly. The views were superb. The patrons friendly and conversational. The prices are fair. And this is where I'm going to hang out from now on. 💯🙌
Great atmosphere, beautiful view, food was great, though appetizer portions were somewhat on the small side. Conch fritters were to die for, but would have needed four helpings to satisfy my lust. Come here for some good shoreside vibes and great decor. Live music in the evenings. I would come back here.
An extraordinary experience every time. Everyone leaves feeling younger and better, like a local party! An extraordinary older crowd where anyone over 60 feels like a teenager again! You have to witness it to believe it. Wonderful live music and dancing! Fun times guaranteed! Rob on the sax and Pete at Donna's loft are extraordinary!
What a great place! Absolutely incredible seafood! The hot stone crabs were perfectly cooked — tender, flavorful, and full of freshness. The atmosphere had that perfect coastal charm. Don’t leave without trying their homemade peanut butter pie — it’s rich, creamy, and unforgettable. Love it and excited to come back.
Our group of friends visited Billy’s for the 1st time and our experience was great. The atmosphere was welcoming, the Karaoke DJ was living her best life singing her versions of hit songs from across multiple genres. Our server Jackie was sweet and helpful and to top it off the food was amazing!!! We really enjoyed our meal. A suggestion would be to arrive before 6:30 to enjoy the early bird pricing, but even there regular prices are reasonable. I highly recommend the Conch fritters!!! They were amazing by themselves. A definite return estsblishment
A great place to go for stone crabs. They also offer many other seafood options. We ordered the grouper nuggets and really enjoyed them. Our server was friendly and attentive.
What a hidden gem of the Florida area!! They have great specials and a wonderful view of the mangroves and sunset around dinner time. We ordered the stuffed hogfish, oysters Rockefeller, stone crab legs, and scallops—all wonderful. Plus, their garlic bread is spectacular! Our server was super helpful and attentive. After dinner, we wandered up to the upstairs bar for some light music, drinks, and a fantastic view. The key lime martini was AMAZING and a must try!
I really enjoyed my experience here. Most beach restaurants are overpriced with poor quality food. We thought the food we had was good quality and a great price! The hush puppies were my favorite I’ve had so far in the atea! And house marg wasn’t a total sugar/syrup bomb. The inside vibes were coastal and the view on the water was great! We will be back!
Wow! This is the hidden gem of a typical Floridian style restaurant and bar. Fresh local seafood, and anything you order is amazing, as I can't just choose one thing! The upstairs bar has live music, a crisp breeze, and a view of the water. It's definitely a vibe upstairs! The cocktails were well crafted as I recommend a banana daiquiri after a hot day at the beach. I can not say enough about the staff! Fast and friendly service! As Tampa locals, this is one of our go-to places to impress our family and friends who want great seafood!
Love this place. It became our yearly tradition for New Year’s Eve. Great selection of foods, drinks, service, atmosphere + great band! The place is huge, plenty of seating inside. Always enjoyed our visit here- spending with the Fam & Friends!!! Happy New Year 2025! 🥳🍹
Honestly one of the best places around with unbelievable seafood and the most relaxing atmosphere I can imagine in the upstairs rooftop bar. There’s always a live solo musician that helps set the mood, but that’s almost not needed with the amazing waterfront views, cool breezes, quaint and rustic decor, and fun people. We always have to go here when we’re in the area and I try to take mental pictures and movies to reflect back on when we get home. A truly perfect experience. I didn’t much focus on the food here in this review yet, but I will say I had quite possibly the best grouper filet in my life the last time we dined at Billy’s. Oh, and stone crab claws as big as your hand! Try this place out!
Great food and drinks after a long day of fishing. The service is good and prices are affordable.
Tim our waiter was fantastic (Donny Osmond look alike) drinks and food were super good. We shared prime rib, scallops, lobster, grouper. Everything was delicious.
Excellent choice for our Anniversary! Went early for happy hour and we like the bar so we sat at the bar and were served by Rae who was terrific. We are not normally "early-bird" people but their early bird specials were unbelievable so we took advantage of those. What a great meal for a incredible price! There was live music in another part of the restaurant. Rooftop bar also. Lots to choose from here - we will return.
After a grueling day of hiking and snorkeling at Shell Key Preserve, we topped off our day with some fantastic dinners at Billy's Stone Crab. The entire decor is inviting and comfortable. We were seated with a perfect view of the wharf and inlet. It was rather tranquil. I had their outstanding Angus beef burger topped with pepper jack with a side of fries, while my wife had their snow crab legs with pineapple cole slaw (and yes it was good). We topped off our dinner with key lime pie. Our waitress was perfect as was the entire experience.
Love Billy's. Never miss an opportunity when I'm the area. Classic Florida feel in an area that seems to continue to succumb to developmental pressures. Reasonable prices. Food is always delicious and service has always been friendly and inviting. I usually get the stone crab in season but everything I've had has been really good and appears to be fresh. I'd highly recommend
Great experience in one of the best restaurante in St. Pete. Great location by the water with delicious seafood options. First time I've ever tried stone crab and they were delicious. I read about the caching process and it's not easy, the high price is worth paying. Good selection of alcoholic drinks and really good prices. I definitely recommend this place 👌
Arrived around 3:30 pm and decided to have dinner and drinks at the upstairs bar. Views were outstanding as were the bartenders. Quick service, well made drinks, along with friendly staff all made for a great evening! Live entertainment provided by JT Wilde, formerly with the band Blackfoot. Acoustic guitar and great vocals, also very sociable, allowing audience participation. I ordered the North Shore platter, fried. This dish consisted of scallops, shrimp, Cajun fries, yellow rice and sea bass. I had 6 Oysters Rockefellar for appetizer. Everything was delicious, cooked properly and served hot with one exception. The sea bass was massively overcooked. Other than the fish, everything was very good. I still gave 5 stars due to the fact everything else was delicious, service from bar staff was unbelievable and entertainment from JT Wilde was wonderful. Check them out on your next visit. You wont be disappointed. There is also inside dining as well.
Donna was awesome! Great personality awesome house margaritas at AWESOME 2.99 price tag especially! Love the live entertainment was seriously awesome one man band! The grilled fish was a little blame but the onion crusted fish was amazing and the shrimp and scallops did not dissapoint! LOVE THE ROOF TOP BAR AND VIEW WITH DINNER!
We went to 5 different restaurants that were undesirable until we stumbled upon this place. Wish we would come here first! Sat at the bar, bartender was awesome, service and food was great. Try this place out, you won't regret it!
We never go wrong with coming to Billy's... The food is always great ... We were seated fairly quickly ... However this time the service was more focused on the larger family tables.. our waiter was also the bartender... We tried and tried Several times to get the young lady waitresses attention but she constantly walked right by us.... However because this was a first time thing and we were seated with 3 larger tables...it more than likely would have been a good thing to have more help back there as we got ignored most of the time ..him behind the bar and her with the other larger tables .. but we will be back again ..one time will not stop us from coming back
Spent the day on the beach at Fort Desoto and went here after for a meal. Cool place right on the water. Seemed to have two indoor dining rooms and separate room with a dance floor. We went to the rooftop bar because we were dressed super casual coming from the beach. This was Saturday night and there was someone playing electric guitars and vibe was fun and jumpy. Ordered fish spread and it was a home run. Fresh and tasty. We both ordered grouper sandwiches and were very pleased. The rooftop bar is very cramped, but we did not mind at all because the food/music/company was incredible.
Had an amazing dinner tonight for our anniversary! Shrimp appetizer to start, followed by stone crab 🦀, then main courses of the Maine lobstah and she had snow crab legs. The drinks were well made, the atmosphere perfect, even a sunset on an otherwise rainy evening. Mitchell was very attentive and the service was top notch! We'll definitely be back to Billy's!
We sat at the bar and Jack waited on us. The service was excellent. He didn't miss a beat. One of my friends ordered margaritas and thought they were divine. The place is known for the stone crab but pretty much anything you order is good. Jack recommended anything with grouper. I particularly enjoyed the pineapple slaw. The views are fabulous and the marine decor makes you feel like you are on ship. It is a nice place for date night or for the family. It was a great experience, especially because of Jack. Give that man a raise!
We came here on a whim while we were in the area and we are SO happy we did. We got the blackened grouper bites, shrimp, mahi tacos and stone crab of course. Everything was perfectly cooked, seasoned and a great portion size. Will be back and would recommend!!
We ended up at Billy’s on accident but it worked out great! We sat at the rooftop bar to enjoy the view and ambiance. They had some nice live music which made the place feel so lively for a TUESDAY! I had a really good margarita and shared 12 raw oysters with my BF. They were fresh, sweet, and delicious! My bf ordered the conch bites and I wasn’t the biggest fan of how chewy they were. I loved everything else otherwise! If you’re in a hurry, this might not be the spot for you though.
Great view and fun staff. Sat in the bar up top. Excellent place to view the water and islands. We even saw a manatee. The drinks were very reasonable. The coconut shrimp was excellent. The burger was ok but should have known since it was a seafood place. The stone crab looked amazing and wish I would have ordered that. The staff was friendly and kept our cups full. Will return
Great local place, but don't miss this if you're a tourist. Friendly servers and excellent food. I had a hog fish sandwich , which I recommend. There are steps, so keep that in mind. The owner was around and keeps the place shipshape.
Perfect spot by the water. Stopped here for lunch after an afternoon at Fort Desoto Park. We sat up in the loft, which had great views of the water. They do great lunch specials. I had the Shore Platter, which was a piece of sea bass, shrimp, scallops and two sides for $22. I also added hush puppies for 99 cents. My friend had the lunch surf and turf. The food was tasty and the service was great. They also have cheap happy hour specials all day until 6.
Looking for a great relaxed place to grab some killer sea food and watch the sun go down? This is it! We stumbled across Billy's Stone Crab while on a work trip to Isla del Sol. The atmosphere is laid back and the sea food selection is fantastic. My co-worker tried the hogfish and I grabbed the scallops which, in all honesty, were some of THE best I've ever had. Our server was fantastic with recommendations for what was in season and what wasn't and we both left completely satisfied with our choices. Even better, it didn't break the bank! There are technically two dining areas and a surprisingly fun rooftop bar so you've got plenty of options if you're looking for a casual meal, something a bit more formal, or just a drink while the sun sets and some tunes play in the corner, courtesy of the night's live musician. Seriously-- this is my kind of place! Highly recommended.
Food was amazing, the run specials on raw oysters and stone crab both were delicious. The hush puppies are really good. Service was incredible everyone we encountered was super friendly.
I have tried crab legs at many different restaurants, and they did not taste as good as the ones here. I also love how one side of the restaurant is for loud party people while the other side has a quiet, relaxing atmosphere so that they can serve both crowds. I am dreaming of the day get to come back to this restaurant! 🤗🦀🦞🦐🐚
Had a great experience at Billy’s Stone Crab. The lobster was cooked perfectly, tender and full of flavor, and it came with warm butter that paired perfectly. The service was friendly and welcoming, which made the whole meal even better. Great place to enjoy fresh seafood and relax. I’ll definitely be back!
Went to Billy's 2x during our short 5.day visit. One time to connect with family which was very nice. Food was good and we stayed a long time visiting. We never felt rushed. The only drawback was the music was quite loud. The 2nd time, only 2 of us. We had delicious meals with plenty to bring home. Highly recommend.
My server Bob was so nice and friendly! He gave me excellent service. Burger was amazing but the only thing I would recommend is changing the time on the menus for prime rib & surf and turf… yes they had a sign on the table in a small place but sorry, I’m not looking at shit on the table that I don’t need. I will just look at the menu.. so when I went to order bob let me know i couldn’t get the prime rib or surf and turf until 4pm
Maddie was our waitress. Outstanding food! Had stone crab for the first time. Delicious. Coconut shrimp was the best. Scallops were amazing. Drinks, desserts were great. Will go again!
The best dining experience the place is amazing with great views and vibes, but the food and service another level everything taste fresh and delicious our seafood boil have real garlic and lemon incredible flavor the best dinner I had in a while. The house margarita was on spot and at a great price. I love everything about this place
Went to meet a friend for live music. Learned Peter plays there 3x per week & he's great, rock music. Place is kind of tucked away. Drinks were delicious, atmosphere was jolly, view over water inlet was perfect for a sunny FL day & staff was very attentive, happy & helpful. Food at the bar was a second thought but surprisingly good. Burger & prime rib both good. Key lime pie delicious. Nice to have a go to place in St Pete!
This place was so fun and really big. There are many twists and turns, dance floors, several bars and a great view of the water. Everyone at my table ordered oysters and crab legs. I'm a vegetarian and there wasn't a whole lot for me to order. I gave it 5 stars because my peeps said it was very good.
Have been coming here for 35 years when we visit the area and I don't think I've ordered anything other than grouper. It never misses - on a sandwich or other preparations. My daughter loved the fish tacos. Nice, peaceful view of water. Only downside is that I find it hard to navigate where to go with the different levels and spaces - but worth figuring out!
Very cool place for karaoke, live music, sports and drinks. They have 3 separate bars and just a neat set up. The top bar overlooks a spot where you can sometimes see manatees. Definitely a homey vibe. I've never felt out of place or uncomfortable here. We usually come to just have drinks and be a part of whatever is going on. Lots of people really enjoy the food here too.
Me gusto
We arrived here right when they opened at 11:00am on 1/19/22 so we were the only customers which was nice. I ordered an appetizer of chicken strips and a bowl of clam chowder. There was actually a lot more in the bowl from what you see in the picture. I didn’t think about taking a picture right when it came out. The soup was very thick and creamy with a very good portion of clam. On a rating of 1 out of 10, I would give it an 8. The chicken strips were a little over cooked in my opinion but was still good along with a very good BBQ sauce. My wife had the Mahi-Mahi sandwich which you can see was a huge piece of meat. No complaints whatsoever with that. A definite 10. Love looking at the water and lots of wildlife activity to watch. This is our 4th time here and will be coming here again when visiting the area. Oh, and service was excellent.
Stayed here for lunch after the clear kayak trip (do it!) And thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't like oysters, but my new friends talked me into trying them and I didn't mind it. The Grouper sandwich was decent as well. Quite a few things on the menu I still want to try, I expect I'll be back. Can't beat the view from up top!
The atmosphere is great on the water. The staff was friendly. We ordered hogfish sandwiches with fries. Mine were supposed to come with steak fries but they were potato wedges, not fries. Hogfish is great. It's one of my favorite fish to eat besides grouper and mahi mahi. It's a very mild fish. It's great blackened. The coleslaw a little bland but overall good food. I would go back.
While out on the motorcycle, I like to try different restaurants, on this ride we stopped in Billy's. Appetizers we got hush puppies and onion straws. Main we got the Shore platter which was the only thing I could find that looked good, that had to deal with seafood. Unfortunately everything else I was not feeling it. Reason for 4 stars they have 3 desserts, turtle cheesecake, Peanut butter pie, key lime. For those that have nut allergies your stuck with the key lime pie. Which limiting someone's options like that is not ok, at least putting warm bread pudding on menu for these cooler days/nights might be helpful to those that can't eat your desserts. Tho the key lime pie wasn't tart like most, it's a dessert I have to be in the mood for and wasn't really feeling it. View on the other hand gorgeous and the decor was amazing, the wood design is to die for, and the top of building reminds me of the old TV series "Fantasy Island" the plane, the plane Yes I did go there...
Great views. Good "locals" place to hang out. Bob the bartender has a fantastic wardrobe! Julia is great at helping at the tables.
We enjoy stopping at Billy’s after a day at Fort Desoto. Typically have live music at the upstairs bar where we always sit. Water is self serve at the end of the bar. Food is typically good with the occasional miss from the kitchen. Service is usually good with an occasional wait/attitude. Last time we went I switched from a seafood dish to the prime rib which was great for being a seafood restaurant.
Love Billy's for seafood..crabs, grouper, mahi and lobster. There are 3 different seating areas, each one with its own special appeal. My favorite is the inside bar area with great views and trophy fish hanging on the walls The service is great as the staff is both friendly and attentive..
Would return. Fun atmosphere with nice views if you are lucky enough to get a bay-facing window. Great menu, small portions for the apps. Service was decent but we were waiting forever for that first round of drinks during a quiet evening.
We came for the advertised spectacular sunset, which was unfortunately blocked by newly constructed condos. We ate on the upper, outdoor level to see the view, and it was nice up there. My fish tacos were not that great, however. Dry and little flavor. When we went downstairs to leave, the space was wall-to-wall partying people. We were very thankful we chose upstairs!
Solid food , but over priced like crazy for the quantity. I’ll get over it. Just the way things are nowadays but a good spot to hang. Peanut butter pie can’t compete at all with Leverocks. Same price and very underwhelming. I’m sure I’ll be back but not for the food.
the restaurant was very warm and they were using portable AC units. we were able to switch tables to an area that was acceptable. three of us ordered a salad and they were inconsistent in the quantity and quality. very little lettuce way too much dressing.
The place is big and bright and on the water. The stone crabs were stone crabs, nothing in particular stood out about them, though they were fresh. The desserts were tasty. Our waitress was pretty scattered, and all 4 of us ate our dinners staggered. It wasn't disappointing, but I wouldn't call it memorable either.
We found ourselves drawn to this coastal gem after searching for a last-minute dinner idea from Google, eager to enjoy a meal near the water. Arriving on a Sunday around 5 p.m., we were greeted by a tranquil atmosphere—the restaurant was pleasantly quiet, creating a peaceful backdrop for our evening. Upon perusing the menu, we noted a disconnect between the enticing reviews with pictures on Google to the descriptions and the actual offerings presented to us. The sides depicted in the photographs didn’t align with what they actually had on the menu, highlighting the need for a menu refresh that’s overdue. Additionally, the seating could benefit from a bit more comfort for a more enjoyable dining experience. When it came to the food, there were some standout dishes worth mentioning. I highly recommend trying the gator bites; they offered a delightful crunch paired with a rich flavor profile. The prime rib was another highlight, delivering tenderness and a satisfying taste. However, my surf and turf experience, priced at $23, fell seriously short of expectations, featuring a petite prime rib steak alongside two scallops and three shrimp that were overcooked, tucked alongside two sides that didn't quite impress. For the little ones, the burger was decent, while the chicken sandwich received a thumbs-up for its flavor. However, the shrimp flatbread, priced at $14, was a tad disappointing due to the limited amount of diced shrimp it featured—roughly two ounces on a crisp yet understated thin crust. On a positive note, all the vegetables served with our sandwiches were fresh and added a nice touch. The fries were notably crunchy and delicious but would certainly benefit from a dash of seasoning to elevate them further. Service began on a positive note; our waitress was attentive and accommodating initially. However, as the meal progressed, we experienced a dip in service. After a wait for our drinks, we noticed our server chatting on the dock outside, leaving us feeling somewhat abandoned aw we were searching for refills. As newcomers to the restaurant, it was challenging to seek assistance when we felt a bit adrift. In summary, while this seaside restaurant has the foundation to be a fantastic dining destination, it would greatly benefit from a menu revamp and improved service consistency. With a little polish, it could become a favorite spot for beachgoers seeking delicious coastal cuisine!
Billy's was a huge disappointment for us. Went on a Monday & was anticipating something good as it's a beautiful place. We had to wait over 30 mins for a table, no problem bc their upstairs bar is great. We got a great booth & ordered food immediately. However, our apps came at different times. My oysters were very expensive, $24!! & the smallest, driest & bland I have ever had. We live Downeast NC & know our seafood. Entrees took over an hour. We didn't see many waitresses, including ours, during this time, but when ours finally appeared, we asked what was going on & that we wished to leave. We kept being promised 5 to 7 mins till 20 mins more passed & they arrived. I ordered the onion crusted grouper. Once I pealed away the excessive onion, my grouper was perhaps 3 ounces. I was so annoyed at the size for $30 & the taste was dry & meh. The over mayonnaised Cole slaw was bigger. Lost my appetite. They took it off our bill, thankfully & we could not wait to leave. This place has good ratings & we were so looking forward to it. Perhaps it was an off night? Who knows, but if you don't have the staff, close some of those rooms down. People just sitting looking glum is not what you want to see eating out. We will never return.
Beautiful setting with great views. Service was pleasant but not very attentive. The stone crab special missed the mark. The claws were overcooked and difficult to remove from the shell. Ordering them chilled instead of warm would likely improve both texture and flavor. The shrimp portion was minimal, and the salad was overwhelmingly onions. The greens were very good. Cool vibe overall, food was okay at best.
Several people told me to try this place as I love lobsters so I decided to go and try it for the first time. The place is what you would find in key west. It is old but has that historical charm. The place has a bar side with very loud music and a dining side where it is more quiet where you can talk. We had reservations so they sat us in 10 minutes. The view wasn’t bad but the sun was shining directly into my eyes so I could not look at the people sitting across from me. I ordered the small rock lobster for $14.99 and a side of mash potatoes which was a la cart for $4.99. The mash potato was the size of a scoop of ice cream. The friends ordered several other side dishes and some hush puppies. I ordered a red sangria and it was sad looking sangria drink that I have ever seen. Small glass with one slice Orange in it. It tasted horrible so I drank the water. The hush puppies came out within 5 minutes. However, it took them over an hour to bring our food out. I looked around and it wasn’t that busy and was wondering why it took them that long. Maybe it is how long it takes for them to get the food out. The waitress didn’t even come over and say anything. For what I have seen in many restaurants, it is usually 20 minutes but this was a horrible experience that I have experienced in a very long time. When the food came out, my friend’s salad dish was very soggy and it wasn’t at all cold and crispy. The small salad cost $9.99 and it was the side of a side salad you get at a restaurant. Overall, I definitely would not recommend this place for so many reasons. The value is not there as everything is over priced for what you get. The terrible long wait for the food is just wrong. The food was very subpar of what you get at a ba and not at a restaurant.
Our visit tonight was... less than memorable. I usually am accommodating, considering we made resorvations a day in advance for a special birthday celebration of 13 visiting from London. We came to the restaurant earlier in the evening and dropped off the special cakes and the manager said everything would be ok. But.... The wonderful room the put us in, was hot, and eventually an hour later got slightly better, but our service was incredibly slow. I felt bad for our waitress, as she was obviously very busy else where. It took 40 minutes to get water, and another 30 minutes to get drinks. Appetizers were fair, and our dinners, were also... fair. Unfortunately most were either cool or luke warm, and we had to ask 8 times to get the entire order correct. House Salads were overwhelming loaded with onions. My blankened grouper sandwich, was cold. Worst of all, the birthday boy, who is vegan, had to wait for his meal of soup and salad, until after everyone else was served. I felt terrible for my parents (who live here on the island,) who were obviously not pleased at tonight's experience. Parking is difficult, extra parking in the field... is not well lit, or recommended for those with issues walking. Expected a lot more for the amount paid.
Food is just ok. Very overpriced for the portions. 1 crabcake for almost $20. The shore platter had 1 fish, 2 shrimp, and 2 scallops with ff and slaw for $30.(A baked potato was a 2.99 upcharge). We had a table of 4 and everything was just meh. The view was nice of the water. The waitress was nice.
Cafeteria quality, steakhouse prices. The service was fine, the building was noisy and both the waitress and runner both barely spoke louder than a church mouse, and we were in the "quiet" part of the restaurant. I asked if they made the lemonade in-house, was told that they "brew it" themselves. Tasted like a slightly watered down Minute Maid juice. My dinner was the "surf n turf" for $27. I got the thinnest slice of prime rib I've ever been served, along with a dried-out baked potato and unseasoned green beans. Prime rib tasted fine. It also came with "gulf" shrimp and scallops, both woefully undersized considering the number of pieces (2 scallops, 4 shrimp). Husband had a "jumbo" serving of stone crab for $70, but it was a medium portion for other restaurants in the area. He also got the pineapple coleslaw, which was decent (more like an essence of pineapple, one chunk in the whole serving). We were underwhelmed to say the least, and now know which friends we can't get restaurant suggestions from. Save yourself the headache and try another place on the Bay.
Wife and I got the cod from the early menu. Mine fried. It had the texture of fish that was prepared earlier then microwaved. Wife's was blackened and over cooked. Rice was pasty. Green beans and baked potatos we're good.
Pros: comfortable place with a nice view. The server was kind. Cons: my meal was horrible. Cod fish had a plastic-like taste. Collard greens were overcooked and became mushy. Water and coke had a strong sulfur taste from thw municipal water (please install decent filters in the kitchen). The server was kind, but he was the only one for all tables. My experience here was very disappointing. I hope they improve the overall quality for the next summer season.
I'm not normally one to write a bad review but I just has one of the worst dinner services tonight. I'm local so I know season is starting up so being short staffed at 5pm on a Thursday in feb isn't abnormal but not greeting a table for almost 25 minutes after they were sat is ridiculous. First off I want to give a shout out to the host, he hussled. He saw that we were sitting for awhile and checked in on us and we saw him talk to the server AND manager about our table and the lack of service. But unfortunately that is the only positive I can give about the service. We were getting ready to head out by the time the server finally showed up. We ordered drinks an app and our meals all at once not knowing if we'd see an employee again .. drinks came in a timely manner wernt anything to write home about but atleast it was something. And then we waited again. 10.. 15... 20 minutes pass nothing. Server pops back up saying he'll check on our apps. We asked for refills since our drinks were empty , server said okay and we waited again.. Somehow 10 minutes later our appetizer and meals showed up together but no drink refills. Server stops by to drop off napkins and see the empty glasses and go 'oh yeah your drinks I'll be right back' . . . I'm sure you can guess how that went. To wrap this story up service was horrible (besides the host) Food and drinks were mid Views are always beautiful I've been to BSC many times and I'll probably end up back again eventually but this just wasn't the quality experience we normally have. If I come back I'll make sure to sit at the bar, atleast I know I'll get some kind of service there.
Came here on a random weekday afternoon while visiting Florida on the way to Fort de Soto. The building itself is a throwback with plenty of history and lots to look at on the walls. The location is quite picturesque and certainly a good spot to go on a sunny day with the right seat. I will preface this by saying they may have been having a real bad day and this is based on my one visit as a tourist. The food itself was ok, but just ok. At a cheaper price it might have got an extra star, but at the charged prices it didn't make sense. The service was bad, both meals ordered came out incorrect (one of them twice) and we ended up with a spread of various plates and bowls as other parts of the meal appeared independently. I guess we got a bowl of free coleslaw that wasn't ordered out of it. For nearly $100 spend for 2 people it just wasn't up to expectation.
Great views if you get table near water but be careful time of the day -sun may be at a brutal angle. Service was slow, hostess seemed annoyed that we were even there and food was just mediocre. We will not be returning.
The food was just average, the chicken was burnt, the hot shrimp wasn't fully cooked. The server we had was Amazing!!!! He was ontop of everything. Drinks were never empty. The atmosphere is so pleasant. The cooks may have just had a bad night. They were packed!
My husband and I visited this restaurant and made a special effort to get to this restaurant given their notoriety for stone crabs. There was nothing special in our experience. Our waitress was young and polite, but inexperienced with most of the menu and could not give great recommendations. My husband ordered the stone crabs and was disappointed that the meat was not moist. They did not taste that fresh. My hogfish dish was nothing remarkable. The seasoning on the fish was just OK. The pineapple coleslaw was not to my liking. Not very tasty pretty bland actually. We did not order alcoholic drinks, but I’m sure those would be fine. And we were there on a rainy evening, so no view. Pretty expensive and not worth our Uber there and back.
Returned after a disappointment 13 years ago. Waiter was terrible. Food came out with hair in it. Not much flavor. Crazy overpriced. Should have listened to my last review and never returned.
I don’t know how anyone could have a good experience eating here. I gave the service 0 stars. Rude, unfriendly service people, from the host/ hostess and two female bartenders. We sat at the bar downstairs. Horrible night . You get the vibe that the people that work there are burnt out and don’t like people. The crab claws were good . Live music was a plus. Ate there last night.
My girlfriend and I visited Billy’s for the first time and ordered the medium stone crab meal, the stone crab appetizer, and a half-pound of snow crab. We were excited to finally try stone crab, especially after hearing so many positive things about Billy’s. The claws were served hot, but the meat was firm, difficult to remove from the shell, and didn’t carry much flavor. The snow crab was fine, just a bit salty, but it wasn’t the main reason we came. For a $100 visit and a place known for stone crab, the experience didn’t quite meet the expectations we had. Hoping this can be addressed, because we were looking forward to making Billy’s a regular spot.
We were regularly coming to Billy's for many years, mostly pre-pandemic, but this last time was the last. I ordered the Grouper meal, blackened not the onion crusted as recommended. It came with two sides, so I ordered two of the homemade wedge fries. My wife ordered the grouper tacos and a large spanish salad, la carte. While we were waiting, we also got the happy hour margaritas Salad was out fast, before our drinks. That hadn't changed it was excellent, but we noticed the size was smaller, and I could have eaten it all. The waitress returned to inform me they were out of the fries go figure, I told her the cajun ones were fine. (SISCO crispy fries an Arby's copy) The meals arrived, and I immediately noticed how small the grouper was. The potato almost dwarfed the fish. This grouper fillet was about 4oz. I didn't know that they had filletes this small. Was this a legal keeper size of 20" ??? The wife's tacos looked good but had three small grouper bites in each taco. She said they were good but not stuffed with grouper. After I was done with my meal, I reminded her about the margaritas as they still haven't arrived. When she went and got them, nothing special standard bar mix with cheap tequila. I asked for the menu (still hungry) and ordered the slider appetizer, another mistake as they were dried up 1/4" beef hockey pucks. I fixed them up and choked them down. The bill was $80 without tip. Yes, that's what I said! I'm telling you to avoid this place! If you're coming for salad, fries, cheap drinks, and the atmosphere, maybe. There are much better places with beter portions and prices than here, and it's a shame this place was great, and now, like so many others, I can no longer recommend that you patronize this restaurant.
I visited here on my anniversary and had the worst experience ever. I normally meet clients in the area her for lunch or a couple drinks after meetings and normally it’s a great experience but on my last visit I decided to come and celebrate a special occasion which was a huge mistake. We sat in the dinning room where the server was an older gentleman. We were there maybe 15 minutes before he took out drink order and waited another 15 minutes to place our food order. While waiting for our food another table was leaving where a customer stopped the server and expressed he wanted to leave I’m guessing the food runner a $30 tip and expressed he wanted to put it in his hand because he did a great job. The server replied he understood and found the food runner. When we finally got our food we made sure to ask for the check as well because we didn’t know how long it would take for him to return. After I finished my lunch I went outside to take a business call where my fiancé met me after paying the bill. As well we’re getting in the car I heard a gentleman yelling in the background but paid it no mind until I saw my fiancé step back out of the car where she replied yes I’m serious have a good day. After my call I asked her what was going on and she replied the server ran out of the restaurant and yelled aggressively from the ramp “ARE TOU SERIOUS ABOUT THIS?” where she explained she didn’t feel comfortable leaving a bigger tip considering the service we received. We never got a refill on drinks and waited 30 minutes to place our order. Regardless of the tip I consider it extremely rude and unprofessional to react like that towards customers where this situation could have escalated had we not paid for an art class that we were heading to.
