L'Assommoir Torino Reviews
Pienamente soddisfatti. Servizio perfetto! Super consigliato
The food was amazing and the service.
Discovered this restaurant by chance. But I'd say it was a great discovery: a welcoming, elegant, and modern place. The service was excellent; the waiter was attentive but not pushy, answering all our questions, and we had pleasant conversations about the dishes. Some of the dish pairings might seem daring (for example, the pasta with trout, cauliflower, and vanilla), but they're worth it. Well, what more can I say? The place is worth it, the staff is worth it, and the food is absolutely worth it. I recommend everyone to stop by.
Excellent service and quality. The venue was used for a corporate event with a 4 courses food journey matching the autumn 🍂 season. The 🎃 🥧 was amazing 👏. The staff was keen to explain what we were about to eat so that everyone enjoyed knowing the subtilities of the meals.
Wonderful experience. We loved the simple and yet sofisticated atmosphere at the same time, as well as the food! Very good service, and it is located in the city centre, so it is nice to take a walk after. We went there for a work lunch, and our guests were amazed.
So... The staff were courteous and extremely knowledgeable, the dishes were high-quality and beautifully presented. In my opinion, excellent value for money! Recommended!!! In the photos you'll find: Spaghetti with crispy leeks and Toma cheese fondue, Tuna marinated in teriyaki sauce and sake in an egg and coconut cream sauce, Linguine cacio e pepe with lemon amberjack tartare, Spinach Malloreddus with calamari, anchovies, capers, and Taggiasca olives.
Well done. Excellent food. All the dishes I ordered were nearly perfect. The Fassona tartare was among the best I've ever eaten in my life (and I eat it very often, always). The staff is young, knowledgeable, and friendly. My only suggestion: I think they need to put more thought into the wine list, which is a bit sparse. I'll be back often.
Excellent restaurant. Very kind staff. We celebrated my son's graduation and were treated wonderfully. When we booked, we requested a dessert, which was promptly prepared. It was truly delicious. The professionalism and quality of the ingredients were expertly used, and the chef's recipes were truly exquisite. We had a wonderful time!
A delightful restaurant in the center of Turin, just steps from the Egyptian Museum. We went for dinner, and were greeted and guided by extremely kind and knowledgeable staff who also recommended exquisite wines. The bread, homemade as is the pasta, is stellar, and arrives piping hot. The appetizers are delicious (pictured: mini fig and lard burgers), the first courses are sophisticated (pictured: saffron and bacon buttons), and the desserts are truly imaginative and delicious. Highly recommended!
We found the restaurant somewhat by accident after being passed over by several others because we hadn't made a move in time. It was a nice place, but nothing special... so, unsure of what to do, we decided we were too hungry to give it a try. A perfect decision! The young, knowledgeable, and incredibly friendly staff, but above all, the dishes were BEAUTIFUL, truly GOOD and TASTY! Unfortunately, we're not from Turin, otherwise we would have become regulars! They've only recently opened and need to make themselves known, so we couldn't help but give them a great review! LET'S GO!
It’s a Monday and not many restaurants are open. I saw this restaurant with a French name (but it’s all Italian) near our studio and decided to give it a try. Very friendly service with an interesting menu. The red wine we ordered was very good and we enjoyed almost every dish we ordered. Surprisingly my favourite dish was the salted cod cappuccino, though I found the trout pasta a bit tasteless. The beef cheek was very tender and the octopus was grilled nicely. My husband said his battuta with bone marrow was a perfect combination. We were pleased to have the 3-course as the portions were smaller allowing us to taste different dishes without overeating.
A lovely place with delicious options. The staff were very professional and friendly, explaining and recommending the dishes and wine pairings. We tried the excellent leek spaghetti and the linguine with chestnuts and lard, both of which were also interesting. The brownies with red bean flour and salted caramel were delicious, as was the hazelnut cake with ricotta. We booked with the fork. Highly recommended.
We had dinner at this restaurant yesterday, but it was unfortunately disappointing. We didn't like much of what we ate. The dishes were bland, dry, and sometimes had raw ingredients (eggplant). I'm very sorry to write this review, but I think the chef isn't experienced enough. The service was quick and friendly, and the price was also reasonable. It's a shame because we had high expectations based on the menu and photos of the dishes.
We had a rather disappointing evening at Assomoir, in a somewhat modern, slightly industrial setting. The menu was interesting, with varied options, including several vegetarian dishes. Despite this, and despite the warm welcome and friendly service from the waitresses, the poor quality (and quantity) of the dishes we tried didn't make up for it. Pumpkin ravioli with chestnuts, where the ravioli was nonexistent, the pasta was more like maltagliato, and even the pumpkin was missing; the sauce consisted of chunks of chestnuts thrown in and not blended into the dish. The green gnocchi with goat cheese fondue weren't exceptional; I expected a more intense flavor, but they were definitely better executed than the other first course, both in the seasoning and the gnocchi. The braised cheek lacked the tenderness typical of a well-done braising process, and even the creamy sauce had a somewhat chemical aftertaste. The fried polenta was fine. The pistachio mousse with crumble was also puzzling, as the pistachio flavor (and white color) were difficult to identify. It's unfortunate to classify it as the worst place we tried with the TheFork discount. The quality/price ratio was disappointing, especially for a restaurant that claims to be above-average.
Rapporto cibo/costo sproporzionato.
The food was truly subpar, disproportionate to the price. I feel like I want to, but I can't, because I'm sorry, but the food was really bad. The staff is friendly and kind, but that's not enough.
So disappointed
DO NOT EAT HERE. Terrible quality of food and ruined my night. I cannot understand how this place was rated 4.8 stars. It has clearly been set up to be a tourist trap - they do not care about food in any way. It has been designed to scam their customers. The pasta was so thick, I don’t believe an Italian cooked it. The pasta was supposed to come with “guanciale”, but in reality it was a few scraps of cheap bacon. The “pecorino romano” filling tasted like a plastic McDonald’s cheese sauce. Carluccio is rolling in his grave. Far too salty. An utter insult to true Italian cuisine. So, so disappointed. The only compliments I can pay is that the food was edible, and the waiter was nice. I feel sorry for the waiter, who has to work with such a dreadful chef. Please do not eat here for your own sake. Should be shut down for fraud.
How this is 4.8 star rated is crazy. The worst restaurant food I have ever had. The watermelon starter was warm and off, the cod was the saltiest thing I’ve ever eaten, I couldn’t bare eat any more than a few mouthfuls. The guanciale ravioli was revolting, and it was just cheap bacon on top with only 3 pieces of tough ravioli and a mcdonalds style cheese sauce! Not pecorino romano! Very expensive! A price reduction was asked however it was not granted and thus I have had to leave this review. Feel scammed. Marc the waiter was ok though.
AWFUL FOOD, DO NOT GO HERE. At best the meals were tolerable and fine but hugely overpriced nevertheless. However, many of the combinations simply didn’t work. The cod fillet was so salty that it was uneatable. The pecorino pasta was truly revolting and tasted off. It is a shame for the waiter Mark who is nice and served well that the chefs he works with are so bad. To be avoided at all costs. A true rip off for an dreadful standard of food.
