Serata all'insegna della bagna cauda.
Want a good meal for a low price near the Balon, no better place. Menu options are typically Italian plates, 5 prima, 5 secondo. Very fast servings.

Friday is fish dayy!!
Issimo!
Food was fantastic.. Where the locals eat
Gut, mit Potential nach oben. Was good, can increase the whole concept. Osteria, no? Espresso macchiato, top. Conto prego!
DECEMBER 28 24 - I went back on Saturday, always excellent value for money: €7 for first courses, €8 for second courses, €4 for side dishes, €3 for a quarter of wine. I had rabbit in Arneis with cauliflower. Warm and informal atmosphere, very busy, you feel at ease. Tried during the week: excellent solution for a weekday lunch! Complete lunch (first course, second course, side dish and water €10). Abundant and all very good, satisfactory value for money! Good atmosphere, just like an osteria. Quick service. I added a quarter of red wine on tap (good) €2 and coffee €1.20
Osteria del Balon in Turin offers tasty dishes with authentic flavors, at reasonable prices that make it an attractive choice for a casual lunch. Service is extremely fast and organized, a sign of well-established efficiency. However, the atmosphere can be quite chaotic, especially at peak times, and the pace of service gives off a somewhat assembly-line feel. As soon as we finished our meal, we were asked to leave the table, which can detract from the pleasure of the experience. Overall, a good place for those looking for a quick, tasty meal, but less suitable for those seeking a relaxed lunch.
A nice little restaurant with decent food. The only flaw I found was that after we finished our coffee, they immediately asked us to get up and pay, so they could seat other customers. It's a shame we'd reserved two tables for the same group, and the other table was still finishing its dessert and coffee. So we had to wait outside for our other friends, where it was cold that day. Not very professional.
It seems they don’t have a fixed menu, maybe it depends on what they bought in the fish market that day! And they explained us what they have quite patiently. Food is very good, but no official bill in the end and they don’t accept card.
The only positive note was the service: fast (too fast, in fact) thanks to the smart, lively, and decidedly friendly waitress. The food was a bit disappointing. The first course (pasta and beans) was practically cold. I only had two side dishes: the ribs were passable, but the baked potatoes were practically inedible. The fruit salad was unspeakable, with peaches as hard as rocks. An experience worth repeating, but not on a Saturday when the Balon is open and the place is packed.
Pesto pasta served less than 5 minutes after ordering 😂....the penne took 8 minutes to cook, and in fact the pasta wasn't al dente but raw. When we sent it back to the kitchen, they brought it back slightly overcooked but soaked in oil and pesto 😅😅😅. The poor waitress rushing to serve!!! It's a restaurant, not an athletic field. It's distressing to eat in such a rush; it felt like a factory cafeteria, not a relaxing Sunday lunch.
The food is not good, my dish was cold (and I asked for soup, and it’s winter)!!!
Polenta e sugo senza sale. Caos totale all'interno.
Unthinkable. After a twenty-minute wait, the waiter cleaned the table WITH HIS HAND, the same hand he used to serve tables. When we sat down, literally none of the dishes listed on the menu were available. They brought us a pasta dish with sauce that contained four pieces of bone. The main courses were ridiculously tiny. We ordered bread and side dishes, but they never arrived. I recommend this restaurant reconsider its table size, because the food wasn't bad, but the service was truly appalling.
I happened upon this restaurant at lunchtime. You have to rate it from 1 to 5 stars, but if there had been fewer than 1 star, I would have. The food was awful: I ordered boiled potatoes, but my 90-year-old grandmother with Alzheimer's cooks them better. Tasteless and without any flavor, I couldn't believe it!!! Luckily I didn't order the starters, because I could see that the dishes were arriving a little pale, it looked like they had been reheated. Yet the prices aren't joking. A dessert costs €6, the stuff of a high-end restaurant, and when we're just talking about scoops of ice cream. Service: I've never seen service like this, it was like watching the game "The Cage" live on TV. Everyone was in a rush, and when they left the dishes on the table, they almost threw them at you. PRICES: a first course €8, a second course €8, a side dish €4, coffee €1.50, a full €2. It's a shame to see an Italian restaurant like this when so many tourists see it, and besides, tourists seem used to everything in Italy these days. Anyway, I'll definitely never go back again. I see so many people coming back, unsuspecting tourists are better off arriving, so we all have to work.
They made us wait relatively little and then made us sit at a table that still needed to be cleared, after several minutes they set the table in front of us throwing placemats and napkins at us without leaving us any menus, which were given to us when we ordered so we could choose very quickly. We took two first courses and two second courses. My first course arrived first, tagliolini with tomato and basil. Dishes literally thrown and slammed violently on the table in a hurry. Pasta so overcooked that it had already broken during cooking, tasteless, full of water with half a teaspoon of uncooked tomato sauce, without a hint of basil. Even though I had added a lot of parmesan, that pasta was unwatchable and inedible, we sent it back. When I finished my first course, my boyfriend's still hadn't arrived, 25 minutes had already passed, we asked and it arrived, mediocre. Let's move on to the second courses, the worst veal with tuna sauce I've ever eaten but by forcing myself with the bread I managed to finish it, even if it was a small portion. My boyfriend ordered a late sirloin, COLD, with a horrible appearance, full of fat, not cooked well, looking at it it looked like a hospital canteen dish, next to it there was an unidentified food, they looked like pieces of croissant, I attach a photo. At our second complaint made to the waiter and then at the cashier (because at that point we got up, we would have had dessert and coffee but the situation around us had also become unmanageable, waiters who were yelling because they couldn't find the table numbers between curses and swear words), both the waiter and the lady at the cashier asked us very rudely why we hadn't said it before, blaming us, instead of apologizing. The only positive note is that they removed those two dishes from the bill, for the rest it is the worst place to stop to eat in general, not just during the balloon. I also add that the alleged dishes you see online about this tavern are not at all true.
