Oh maaaan this experience was awesome. Most definitely recommend this restaurant is not only for the great food but also the service thanks to Sky. Checkout my YouTube channel @ Steven Reactz. And thanks to Sky we almost moved to San Diego. Plenty of parking and it’s free and they do offer a military discount. We will definitely be back and y’all should definitely come and visit. All I can say is wow.
It was happy hour and wing Tuesday half off so it started to get a little crowded as everyone mission was to eat the most wings. There was a variety of wings seasoning to choose from. Except for guiness there wasn't any stout or porter for me to choose from so I went for the Elysian Space Dust which was a nice IPA
Dirty Birds on Tuesdays is the best. Can’t go wrong with half price wings and they have been running that special for a long time. Work colleagues and I try to make it over there to partake every so often. Today I ordered an Ace Guava Cider as a refreshing drink to go along with the wings. It wasn’t as busy as I’ve seen it in the past but they had all of the televisions set to various sports stations and some music playing in the background. We all ordered the 10 piece wings with two flavors each. I ordered the Diablo and PMP Warrior sauces and since I like extra sauce I always recommend ordering them “Extra wet” if you like it that way. Additional note: you also have the option of ordering all drums if that is your preference. Ten wings comes with some celery and carrots and either blue cheese or ranch side. The Liberty Station location has a nice outdoor patio and plenty of seating inside too. Parking can be somewhat challenging on a busy day but there is a lot right by the building and, if nothing there, you’ll have to go to one of the main Liberty Station lots and walk. Service was friendly and casual - no formalities here. They also don’t have a problem splitting checks if you are going with colleagues so that’s nice. There are approximately 40 sauce flavors so if you love sauces like me there are plenty to choose from. I highly recommend them - especially on Tuesdays!
Wednesday night. Dodgers Padres game night. Tons of TVs and tons of patrons. Was told a 45 minute wait, and checked several times as it got closer and closer to the 45 min mark. We checked at 45 and hostess said she told us 55 minutes. Why would we lie to ourselves? One of only a few minor reasons I gave it four stars instead of five. Yes. Could she have mixed us up with someone else, yes. Just seemed odd. And silly. And after waiting 45, rude and not accountable. Just say it’s gonna be a little longer. Atmosphere was lovely as any 74 degree beautiful weather night should be in San Diego with all the games on. Server was friendly. Most memorable? Onion rings. Great. Would go again just for those. Wings were good. Super large and tons of flavors to try. Ranch was above average. None of the wings flavors we got screamed at me to love them but they were good enough to be curious about coming back to try others. The auctioning off of food at the table was overkill at one point and then realized maybe an extra order had been put on our tab but either way, just stood out…and had some delays in getting our full entree order out at the same time.
We arrived on Friday during lunchtime and it was busy. We decided to sit inside the establishment. I had ordered the chicken quesadilla and it was delicious with sour cream and fresh salsa on the side. Also, ordered their wings and it was very delicious and highly recommend as they have a plethora of options. Lastly, my friend ordered the steak sandwich with amazing flavor. It was a bit chilly and cold inside so recommend sitting outside in the beautiful San Diego weather.
I used to love this place and would wait a long time for a table. Now it’s essentially a walk-in the food quality is poor and the price is outrageous. Who would’ve thought a chicken wing dinner would be more expensive than sushi. They charge a dollar for an ounce of ranch. Are you kidding me. I used to enjoy their specials now their specials aren’t even worth mentioning. As you can see, you have driven your loyal customers away and hopefully that is some feedback to improve.
Got seated pretty quickly but sat there for a long time before someone came to take our order. Wings came out really dry as if it was reheated and also left on the table for a while before being brought out to us. I ate 2 pieces and left the rest. Server was nice, it was later in the afternoon so maybe just tired or understaffed. I don't blame her but that was just our experience that late afternoon
Good burgers, and the young lady who served us was professional, BUT… …they hit you with a 4% service charge. Yes, by patronizing Dirty Birds you will give them an extra 4% of your hard-earned money in exchange for NO goods or services. The service charge notice wasn’t conspicuous. It might be on the menu but I’d bet it’s at the very bottom in .0001 size font. Why be sneaky? Why are they scared to raise their prices instead of resorting to a service charge? If I had seen the notice I wouldn’t have dined here.
The atmosphere and service were good. However, do not order the “salt and vinegar” “dry rub” unless you want soggy wings doused in malt vinegar. They wings themselves, both boneless and bone in, were dry. The sauces we tasted—buffalo, corn hub, and hot honey mustard—were only ok. The hot honey mustard was nasty. The highlight was lemon pepper tatar tots. They tasted very clearly and strongly of lemon pepper and were very tasty. Overall, first and last time coming here.
I cannot fathom why people would eat here. The prices are insane. I paid $36 pre-tip for wings a side and a coke. The wings are big but they were overcooked and the sauce was just slightly above average. I just can't get over that the mac and cheese was 7.50 for that tiny cup. If this wasn't a work expense I would be mad I even ate here. Only upside is nice workers and I got to sit right away with open seating at the bar. Also food came out crazy fast.
Huge bummer to write this review, but whoever was cooking the night of 11/10 should be fired. Ordered a 20 piece wing and about 5 of them were of the quality dirty birds usually puts out. These things were completely overcooked to the point of chicken jerky. I typically always order from pacific beach location, and that was solidified tonight. Not sure if it was just an off night, but it was the worst wings I have ever had. Quality control needs to be better when you hang your hat on specialty food.
Dirty Birds, more like Dirty Tricks. Sadly, the wings at the Liberty Station location tasted like they had been sitting in the freezer longer than a forgotten TV dinner. Dry, lacking that saucy kick, and nowhere near the quality that used to make this place a favorite. It feels like the “birds” had their wings clipped — once flying high, now grounded. I used to rave about this spot, but this visit was more fizzle than sizzle. Hope they get back to their old standard, because right now, these wings are just too dry to fly.
Busters. I sat at the bar today. June 8th, 7pm. I got 10 wings, but I ordered them by 5 and 5 differentflavors. But instead of giving me the 10 piece price he, he charged me more money by charging me the 5 piece price. Then, a 1 dollar charge for ranch. Smh. Whatever. Wings came out suspiciously fast. I usually vouch for Dirty Birds, but this is the 3rd time I have had a bad experience. Hopefully, it's just this location. Other than that, dirty birds bout to lose their good reputation if they haven't done so already.
HIDDEN FEES!!! This Place has Hidden Surcharges and if you have 6 or more people a mandatory 20% Gratitude. Nowhere was this 6+ People Gratitude posted anywhere, I confronted a waitress aboht it and she showed me a tiny text on the bottom of the menu. Why was it so small? Why was it hidden? Why is it not obviously posted outside of the store? This is ridiculous and Tip Culture is out of hand. Being forced to pay a tip because you technically Legally agreed to it by ordering your food is robbery at its finest. Not to mention everything cost an arm and a leg.
Thought long and hard about writing this review.. my husband, infant, and I came here on Sunday 10/12. We came through the patio area and there saw there were some tables taken inside and outside but there were many open tables and bar was dead. We waited at the host stand where the sign says “please wait to be seated” many bussers and runners passed by saying someone will be right with us. We waiting about 2 minutes before the hostess came and told us to sit anywhere and handed us menus to take to our table. The menus she gave us were piled on top of the host stand with a wet towel on top. I assume those meant to be cleaned first.. (I used to be a host we always piled menus on top of the stand to wipe them down before putting it away behind the stand) we sat down and our server came right away asking if we were ready to order. I said we needed a minute to go over the menu and requested water first. She brought out the waters right away and never came back to our table. We waited almost 20 minutes before we walked up and left. Our server had a party of 8 in her section and took their order first and then stayed at their table the entire time chit chatting. An older server noticed us waiting for a while and even said something to the hostess and pointed at us. The same hostess who gave us dirty menus took a couple steps peeking at our table and then walked away. After waiting another 2 minutes after knowing other workers knew we were waiting, we left. As we walked out, the manager and bartender watched us leave and continued watching football. Nobody said anything to us and nobody offered to help take our order. I have NEVER walked out from a restaurant before. I was a server for over 3 years and worked as a hostess, runner, busser, and EXPO for years before serving. I know how restaurants work and how servers think. They assume how much a table will tip/not tip based on their age, race, etc. maybe the server assumed our bill would be small because we only ordered water, ill never know. The server attended to her big money making table probably in hopes of more tip on top of automatic gratuity and never came back to our table. And the fact that nobody wanted to step in and help because that’s not their section is a prime example of staff not working as a team. The manager on duty the other hand should’ve been walking around asking tables how everything is going and if they need anything, especially if they see servers struggling or not managing tables accordingly. I was very disappointed in how poor the service was and I will never be back
Got a honey mustard salad and some of my coworkers got tater tots and wings. Buy 1 get 1 50% off wings comes out to be barely 20% off and is hence not even a deal. Food was the definition of mid, and pretty expensive. And on top of that they do a 4% surcharge for whatever reason and automatic 20% gratuity for 6 or more people when the server was rude, took forever to tend to us and get the food and barely deserving of a 15% tip. Definitely do not recommend this place, there’s many much better spots here at Liberty station
The food is amazing, but the service was terrible. Since i first came in to get settled for a table the hostess that attended my family gave us a terrible look at us and told us that we have to wait 30 minutes and we asked if we could sit somewhere or at the bar meanwhile and she said no with a terrible attitude. we waited outside sitting in the bar and went to kick us out saying that underage teens can’t sit there. Finally when they gave us our table and they wanted us to sit outside when we wanted to sit inside, at the end they gave us a table outside and the hostess always had a dirty look at us while we saw she treated other clients differently. Also the restaurant was empty aswell as all the tables and still made us wait around 20-30 mins. I am not assuming anything but I wouldn’t discard the idea and issue that we were not treated with respect that everyone deserves as a Mexican family. There was also very heavy tension.
First and last time here. 10pc Wings were overcooked, dry and chewy. Frozen wings? BBQ and Teriyaki (over saturated sesame seeds, SMH) sauces not that appealing, after one dunk into the room temperature blue cheese condiment, I did a full stop as it had a funky taste. Server was polite and did the best she could considering she was only person besides bartender. Thankfully I went on Tuesday for 1/2 off wings, so was $10 + tax/tip. For wings, this is not the spot. At the moment, Phil’s BBQ 2-miles away or Pizza Port in Solana Beach is still King of the Wings.
