Juniper Restaurant Tulsa Reviews
The food was delicious. I had a wonderful experience this evening! My server Cinder (not sure how to spell her name correctly) was amazing, very informative and knowledgeable. Service was prompt and well timed. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared. Tables around me were happy with their meals and had attentive servers like mine as well. This establishment will now be my absolute favorite place for Brussel sprouts. Beating out McGills on 19 and Bird & Bottle IMO. The Goat cheese and toast app was well paired. Hunter the beautiful manager stopped by my table for a chat which just completely topped off the night. She was sweet and cared and made me feel seen and heard. I will 100% be coming back. The menu has so many wonderful items to choose from.
From the pork belly scallops, wagyu burger, chimichurri lamb and cheesecake. Every bite was delicious! Our server was very attentive and the atmosphere/vibe of the restaurant was very pleasant. We most definitely would recommend this restaurant to all and can’t wait to dine here again. Thank you Juniper for a lovely experience!
Was in town for business, came here on a whim with my coworkers and we all were pleasantly surprised. The food looks and feels fresh, the meals are robust and delicious. All four of us were looking for reasons to stick around and try more food. We then settled on just coming back again another night. The service was excellent and welcoming, could not recommend this place any more
We tried Juniper last night and it was a bit of a mixed experience. The crabcakes came out fast, but our drinks took a while — we actually got the appetizer before the cocktails, which was surprising since it wasn’t very busy, I think they may have been short staffed. The bread with cherry ginger butter was good, and when the drinks finally came they were delicious. For mains, the beef stroganoff (usually my favorite) was a little disappointing this time, still tasty but the noodles were almost cold, the steak itself was hot and fresh off the grill but it felt like the pasta had been sitting too long before plating. The salmon was fine but didn’t quite have the flavor you’d expect for the price.
Amazing! Awesome food, service, and location. Loved the chocolate pie and the cocktails are stronger than expected.
Highly recommend! We sat at the bar and got to know the manager, bartenders and a waitress. All were very friendly! They made us feel welcomed and talked about the food and drink menu well. Very laid back atmosphere but super friendly. Food was phenomenal! I’m celiac and they were very knowledgeable and made great suggestions. Definitely will be coming back
what a wholesome experience! erico (sp?) entertained my wish for a full chef's choice dinner, and boy did they nail it including drink pairings. creative cocktails, exceptionally well prepared dishes, great curation. this place goes on the list!
Came here for my birthday dinner and was not disappointed! We did the tasting menu and 4 out of the 5 courses were 10/10 for me!! The fish option was the only one I wasn’t crazy about. The beef stroganoff is the star of the show, you can’t go wrong ordering it!!
I had a very good dinner with my parents at Juniper restaurant. The service was attentive and our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu, wine and cocktails, and gave excellent recommendations. As far as food is concerned, almost all the dishes were expertly cooked and tasted great. Only one item, mushroom fritto, was absolutely under seasoned so we had to ask for salt. Four different cocktails that we tried were very creative and quite tasty. I wouldn't hesitate visiting this restaurant again.
The service was exceptional. The steak was so tender. The food fresh and clean. I really appreciate the selection of mocktails and alcohol free wine. Just because someone doesn’t drink alcohol doesn’t mean they don’t appreciate a refreshing drink to compliment their meal. I wish more restaurants offered this selection. The noodles in the stroganoff were perfectly cooked and tasted freshly made. Try the whipped goat cheese!!
SUMMARY/BLUF: A real gem in Tulsa area, amidst the myriad of average to above average fine dining options in the area. Food (esp cocktails) and ambience are excellent, and service is pretty good. Value for the price is spot on. Will return - and potentially our go-to dinner date spot. I don’t give 5 stars that often, but Juniper deserves it from me. DETAILS: We had dinner there this weekend, prior to a show at the Tulsa PAC. It was within walking distance which is why we decided on it. We were greeted promptly at the door, en route to our tabled reservation. Wife ordered a Pinot Grigio, while I got a “Smoke Signal” (variation of Old Fashioned). Both were excellent, mine being one of the best I’ve had (they infuse their own). Our meals were the goat cheese and crab cakes for appetizers, followed by salmon and cider porkchops. All were excellent overall - cooked and seasoned very well. Much care (as it should) was taken in the kitchen to prepare it, which is much appreciated. Only minor (suggested) improvements were that our main dishes were lacking a little side/seasoned veggie of some sort (perhaps some young carrots?) and my risotto was a little on the dry side. Dessert was great too - apple caramel bread pudding. Service (waitress) was okay to start, but got better as the evening went on. She was attentive and not overbearing. Needless to say, we were satisfied customers, and it set the mood for our fantastic evening for arts and entertainment at the PAC. Will revisit again, as they change their menu… this menu was based on the Fall season.
We ordered the 5 course tasting menu and it was fabulous! The goat cheese, the carrot puree soup, the salmon....gastronomical heaven!! We want to give major props to our server, Mark. When we didn't care for one wine pairing and found one of us wasn't thrilled with heavier tannins, he catered to our tastes perfectly!! Exquisite experience overall...highly recommend!!
We were in Tulsa for a weekend and decided to give Juniper a try. What a great spot - Service was so accommodating and helpful to our dietary restrictions and the food was so flavorful and perfect. We ordered the duck two ways, signature beef stroganoff, and finished with the crème brûlée. Five stars all around and would definitely return!
I visited Juniper several times years ago while in Tulsa for work. This time, I was on vacation and brought my husband. Juniper is proof that Tulsa is a sophisticated city with a vibrant culinary scene. We started with some local craft beer and the whipped goat cheese with honey, served with salami and grilled bread. I could have made a meal out of it. The friendly servers brought us more grilled bread, which was excellent. My husband ordered the fried chicken curry and I ordered the trout. The chicken featured red sweet potato curry, seaweed dashi, yuzu aioli, and basmati rice. The trout was served with red pepper piquillo sauce, grilled asparagus, oyster mushroom, shallot, lemon, and micro greens. Both were delicious and attractively plated. Unfortunately, we were so hungry I did not remember to take photos until we finished. The restaurant is lovely, nicely decorated. Happy hour is 4 - 6 with good prices on local craft beers and classic cocktails. Street parking is free in the evenings which was a bonus. Highly recommend!
If you're looking for a dining experience that celebrates local flavors and seasonal ingredients, Juniper in Tulsa is an absolute must-visit. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance set the stage for an exquisite meal, but it's the food that truly stole the show. We started with the Brussels sprouts, which were perfectly charred, offering a delightful crunch with a sweet and savory glaze that was just irresistible. Next, the scallops were a revelation; cooked to perfection, they were tender, sweet, and complemented by a sauce that enhanced their natural flavors without overpowering them. The beet & pear salad was a vibrant dish, with the earthy beets juxtaposed against the sweetness of the pears, all tied together with a light miso honey dressing. It was both refreshing and beautifully presented. For our main course, the pork chop was a standout. Juicy, flavorful, and with a crisp exterior, it was evident that the meat was of top quality, sourced locally and cooked with care. The jalapeño apple butter and sage polenta added a unique flare to this classic dinner staple. To end on a sweet note, we couldn't pass up the chai crème brûlée. The custard was silky smooth with a delightful contrast from the caramelized sugar top – a classic done to perfection. Juniper's commitment to using fresh, local ingredients is not just a promise; it's evident in every bite. The menu changes with the seasons, ensuring that every visit here feels like a new culinary adventure. If you're in Tulsa and want to experience dining at its finest, Juniper should be at the top of your list.
Wow!! The steak was EVERYTHING, cooked to perfection. Dessert was just as good. Everything had full flavor, and whoever said otherwise must smoke cigarettes. It's a MUST TRY, if you're in downtown tulsa!! Put it on your list ✨️👌
Juniper Restaurant is a farm to table restaurant with a seasonal changing menu that offers an exquisite night out at a great value. We selected the 5 Course Tasting menu that had just changed. Each course was expertly prepared and presented. The well prepared coursed were generous, the drinks were creative and delightful. The staff was professional. We will be back for this unbelievable value. Was planning on taking photos of all courses, the experience was too delightful to not get lost in.
GREAT!!! Loved everything about the place, glad ChatGPT recommended this place as a top-rated local restaurant. Had the Brazilian Cod Stew and Sweet Carrot Soup to start things off. The bread and butter tasted fantastic with it. For entree we had the Gnocchi and Roasted Cauliflower. Both were truly excellent. For dessert we had Apple Crisp with vegan ice cream. Appreciate all the gluten-free and vegan options.
If you haven't had the pleasure of an intimate farm to table dining experience, I highly suggest you make your way to Juniper as soon as you are able. The bartender was amazing, and made both of us the perfect drinks. My black walnut old fashioned was absolutely perfect! I indulged in the Taste of Juniper, a 5 course sampling of the best dishes, and was absolutely blown away. Whipped goat cheese, fresh market salad, ruby trout, beef stroganoff, and crackerjack ice cream to finish it off. The service was fast and personalized, and the cheery on top of a fantastic evening! Easily the best dining experience I've had this year! We will definitely be back!
Really great evening. Great food. Great wine. Great environment. Great company.
Ate here in August for a celebration. The host we interacted with was absolutely amazing. I do not have her name, but she made a solid conversation and was very informative. We talked about California a little bit as she had lived there as well. Our waitress was eccentric and polite, but barely spoke with us. I requested the Vegetarian Tasting Menu and recieved an item with meat, but she exchanged it quickly. With that being said, I recommend the tasting menu. My partner had the traditional tasting menu and enjoyed everything. I had the Vegeterian Tasting Menu w/ wine pairing. I did not finish the wine nor the cocktails we ordered. I had the Jalepeño Peacharita and the kick was pleasant. Just enough to tickle the tongue. We ordered the Charcuterie Board prior to the tasting menu and that alone was plentiful. I loved the fresh blackberries, crostini, cheeses, and nuts. The dessert (Justin's Favorite Chocolate Pie) is a must if you are a chocolate fan! The base is an Oreo Crust, but there is chocolate cool whip and ganache. Delicious! The only thing I did not love was the pasta that I recieved (w/ the Vegetarian Tasting Menu). It was salty. Perhaps too much pesto? Regardless, their were beautiful chunks of heirloom tomatoes in my pasta that helped balance it out (which may have been the purpose). The restaurant was clean and I didnt have to battle flies buzzing around my plate like so many other places do in the summer heat. I do suggest eating here if you are having any doubts. The staff overall is great. We had an additional waitress come by as well and enjoyed speaking with her (again, didn't catch names). Im generally not super social, but I do like talking about culture, food, and travel! I am so happy that I found a nice place for us to eat for my celebration. Thank you, Juniper.
I've been to Juniper once before. My visit tonight was a surprise and it was a good one. Juniper has a crisp, bright but down to earth feel. Comfortable and cozy and polite and proper. Juniper is very service oriented and ensures a good table. I found our waitstaff to be very considerate about interacting with the table. The reservation was for 6pm. The evening was splendid . We ate and drank until around 7:30. For our opening aperitif: Age of Aquarius, Apple infused old fashioned. This old fashioned was delicious. They infuse apples and whiskey. The whiskey aspect of the flavor is very muted allowing the apple flavor to really mix with the cherry and orange zest. For our meal: Spicy Chicken, Grilled Lamb Chops. I have been craving good lamb for literally 2 years. My lamb chops, medium rare, were done perfectly down to the sear marks. The meat fell off. The Mediterranean flavor was perfect. It was served on a flavorful bed of taboli infused with fat orange slices and cherry tomatoes. There was a bed of plum like jam. Bites of the lamb with some jam was everything I wanted in a bite. The spicy chicken was served on a bed of coconut Jasmine rice. My better half said it was like eating a cloud and a bite of heaven.
Perfect place for dinner on any kind of night out. The atmosphere was personal, but energetic. You could get loud laughing with your friends, or stay quiet with a date and be able to hear every word. The service was phenomenal. Our waitress talked to us about astrology, and was incredible astute at understanding when we wanted her conversation, and when we wanted her to go away so we could talk to each other. Do not miss the goat cheese appetizer or the mushroom short rib (even if you're not vegetarian). The duck was excellent as well. The bar and bartenders had everything covered, expert mixology, wine/desert wine selection, whiskeys and other spirits. Any weekend in Tulsa downtown would be made better with dinner here.
It was a very great experience here. I got the tasting menu which I was not able to finish since it was a lot of food but I was able to get it boxed and bring it home. Once I was done the waitress brought out a mock tail called the falcon punch. Great service and great food
One of the most amazing meals we've ever had in Tulsa hands down. We would highly recommend the 5 course tasting menu, you won't regret it. We will definitely be back sooner than later.
Went with my sister for her birthday and it was amazing! We both had the Cranberry Julep to drink. Very refreshing! We both had the beef tenderloin with the truffle mashed potatoes and haricot vert. Cooked perfectly and delicious!! Our server was very good! She gave us the specials, gave is time to look, and drinks were never empty, plus got my sister their chocolate cake! Too bad we didn't have time to try it but it looked delectable!! Definitely recommend trying this restaurant!
Went here for dinner the other night, had a great time - went there for the charcuterie board but ended up getting salad, wine, and some more plates. The service was great! The salad was okay, could be a little more seasoned but not bad. The vibe was super chill, wasn’t very busy - and overall like a 9/10!! Wine was good too! Charcuterie board was amazinnnnnggg❤️👍🏽
Staff was excellent! Charcuterie board we had as an advertiser was well worth the $25! And I stop over for drinks as well as they have craft cocktails and the one I had was amazing! Would definitely recommend
HIGHLY recommend! Everything here is delicious- including the service. The staff was attentive, friendly and explained what they were bringing to the table - I selected the tasting menu. If you’re in town for a visit, I recommend the tasting menu as it was a great to sample a lot of their delicious food. Everything tasted fresh, well seasoned. The wine pairings with each course were perfect.
Casual chic restaurant. Shared a few appetizers (must try the whipped goat cheese). Main entrée was a spicy duck soba. Closed with crème brûlée 🥳 all super delicious!
One of the best meals we've had in a long time!!! Everything was perfect--so fresh and such a wonderful mix of textures and flavors. The service was impeccable, there's a nice ambiance, and every last thing down to the drinks was excellent. I'd come back to Tulsa just to eat here, any day. Can't recommend enough!
Nice restaurant in downtown Tulsa. We came on Friday night, reserved a table online within 30 minutes of deciding to dine here. We were seated promptly. They have a good selection of wines. Our service was great. We had the Napa cabbage rolls as an appetizer. I enjoyed the duck breast and my daughter had salmon. For dessert we enjoyed creme brulee and chocolate pie. All of our choices were excellent!
The lighting set the mood of the dining space, and although it was fine dining, it still had a warm and cozy feel to it. The interior designers did a fantastic job with the exposed brick and modern decor. The gentleman working the front was very accomadative in seating us even though we didn't have a reservation since it was during a busier hour of the night. We started with a charcuterie board and the whipped goat cheese. Everything paired nicely together, especially the honey and goat cheese. The seared duck breast was the star of the show though. It was bursting with flavor, and it was extremely tender. It was simple yet complex at the same time. They kept the duck the star of the show without overdoing the dish with extra ingredients. The duck was paired with a fig sauce that was delicious. The arugala salad on the side dressed with a light vinaigrette and paired with blackberries and blue cheese complimented the dish nicely. We ended with a creme brulee that wasn't overly rich which was nice, and it was paired with seasonal berries on top. It is on the pricier side, but I knew this before arriving so it wasn't much of a concern. Juniper nailed everything from the service to the food, and I would defintely come back here again!
Seriously in love with this place. Absolutely can't say enough great things about the food and service! Natasha was an amazing host with an infectious personality. A must stop for all foodies
I tried the tasting menu with wine pairings and I am not sure who does the wine pairings but they need a raise. I have never had such an amazing pairing menu before. I hope to come back and try it again when the menu changes.
Yum ALERT 🚨 Came here for Sunday brunch; we made reservations but it’s wasn’t very busy. Both the Juniper omelette and bread pudding were drool worthy. The biscuits were good, but too dense for my personal preference. The staff was on it! Ambience was serene. Will need to return for dinner sometime.
Lobster Thermidor & Filet 4 course meal for Valentine’s Weekend. Wow There was absolutely zero complaints, and I usually find something annoying about service. The waitress didn’t reach over our plates and drinks. The silverware, dishes, and glasses were clean. Junipers obviously takes pride in their professionalism. My wife and I are from out of state and hate that we may never eat here again. This was an outstanding romantic dinner that we happened to find via google. I was very impressed. The filets were cooked to perfection. The potato/beet soup was amazing. The salad was spot on, and they brought this apple “single bite” appetizer that was unexpected and delicious. I can’t even tell you what it was. The bread was good, siracha butter was unique and provided some pizazz. And finally....the dessert. OMG 3 scoops of ice cream from a local shop, served with a tower of toppings. I was becoming full but just couldn’t let this yummy dessert go to waste. All portions were perfectly sized with exception to the dessert...it was double portioned. I felt I could not improve this meal in any form. We have a restaurant back in Lexington called “Tony’s”.... Junipers has joined them on our top dining experiences list. Seriously if I was ever close to Tulsa I would make the drive to eat here again.
The beverages, the meal: sides, entrees, desserts & our service with Blaze, was all wonderful. The seating & atmosphere could be considered more limited in comparison to the meal & service, but it was also very pleasant. Great meal & experience overall & highly recommend.🙌
We hadn't planned on going to Juniper's for our anniversary, as we had a giftcard to their sister restaurant, Isla's Kitchen. When we learned that they had closed down we called Juniper. They graciously honored our guft card and Bryson gave us a first class experience. He made sure we had flowers at our table and a complimentary dessert at the end. The storganoff (with filet mignon) was top notch. I can never have it another way! And the Wagyu burger was delicious. Erico gave us excellent service and our drinks were consistently filled. We will definitely be back!!
The most incredible restaurant experience I’ve had in Tulsa in over 20 years! My sister and I had dinner at Juniper to celebrate her birthday. The manager, Hunter Merritt, heard that it was our first time there, and within moments had come over to say hi and give us a complementary starter. She was genuinely personable and pleasant and along with our waitress, provided an amazing hospitable experience. And the food was INCREDIBLE! We just had to meet the chef,Nikki Cagle, who is beyond talented. These women are a credit to this industry- this type of hospitality isn’t taught! The restaurant itself is welcoming, the ambiance, lighting, decor and location are all designed to make you feel that you’re truly being treated. Can’t wait to visit again!
Loved it. Best food we’ve had in Oklahoma. Our server Cassidy was amazing! They were super busy and she was still very attentive and helpful. She went above and beyond. Great experience overall!!
I used to travel heavily for work all over the U.S. and Canada. One of the best meals I ever had was at Juniper in downtown Tulsa. I chose a cassoulet. Couldn’t tell you if it’s still on the menu. That simple, delicious food certainly made a lasting impression.
I love the atmosphere of this restaurant. I ordered the house specialty, beef stroganoff, and the included filet was delicious, cooked to perfection and fork tender. The noodles were delicious. My wife ordered a long bone rib pork chop and sweet carrot soup. Both were outstanding. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and we leaned on her for dinner and wine selections. I was very happy with the entire evening. I am very picky about lighting, and the lighting and atmosphere here are perfect. Easy access to parking, and a few short block walk to the PAC and other attractions. Will definitely visit again.
I had the tasting menu and found it rather underwhelming. For the food alone I would give 3 stars but I bumped my review to 4 because of the excellent service I received. The staff was very attentive! The Brussels were good… as long as you got a bite with the whipped cheese. The ones on top were rather plain. I wish I could have skipped the next 2 courses all together. The arugula salad was meh and the walnuts tasted burnt. The corn risotto was just plain bland. I will say the asparagus on top was cooked perfectly. The tenderloin with fingerling potatoes and Demi glaze stole the show. It was cooked beautifully and seasoned to perfection! The mushrooms needed to be cooked more.. they still tasted raw or could have been left off the plate in my opinion. If I would have eaten the tenderloin & potatoes and nothing else, it would easily be 5 stars. The dessert… whew buddy, I’m glad it was only a tiny silver! It was a little to rich for me. But if you had some with the fresh strawberry it was really tasty.
Quaint little restaurant in the heart of downtown Tulsa. Eclectic taste and unique flavor combinations. Nice for a date night. Staff was very friendly and attentive.
I really wanted to give Juniper five stars, but it just isn't quite there. The restaurant is nice and the staff was friendly and helpful. We decided to go for the tasting menu, and it was a good variety. The meal started with an edamame toast with mushrooms and arugala. This was absolutely delicious. Second course was a salad, and the pickled pears were the highlight. We ordered a couple of cocktails and they were excellent. Next is where things started to drift slightly. The next course was a brown butter fish with Brussel sprouts. The sprouts were amazing, as well as the grains under the fish. The fish was cooked well, but it was under seasoned which sort of damped out the other flavors a bit. Darn. The last course was a seared duck breast with a reduction and puree. All of the flavors were there, but once again the protein wasn't quite right and the skin side ended up being a little tough. The flavor of the reduction was excellent, but there were many seeds pulverized into it which messed with the texture. Finally, we had a slice of chocolate pie. This was pretty good, but the ganache smear appeared to have broken, which messed with the expected smooth richness. Overall, it was a good meal and we had a great time. So much potential and so close to being amazing. If someone asked, I'd probably suggest they give it a try.
Juniper is one of my favorite restaurants when visiting Tulsa. My risotto was a little cold when served, but I chose not to ask the server to reheat it. It was an exception in my experience.
After many years of enjoying consistently excellent meals at Juniper in the Vail Valley, our most recent visit fell short of expectations. The restaurant was offering a 50% off entrées special, which understandably drew a large crowd. However, the volume of guests appeared to overwhelm the staff and space. We had a reservation for 6:15 and arrived just a few minutes late, but there was already confusion regarding our seating. We were eventually placed at a four-top, but the tables were so tightly packed that it made for a very uncomfortable dining experience. Even the patrons seated behind us expressed visible discomfort. To their credit, the waitstaff did their best to manage the situation and accommodate everyone. As always, the food quality remained excellent—Juniper never disappoints in that regard. That said, the portions seemed noticeably smaller, while prices have continued to climb. Will we return? Absolutely—Juniper remains a favorite. But next time, we’ll avoid visiting during high-volume specials, as they clearly impact the overall experience.
Maybe I came here on an off night. It was a Tuesday evening. I was excited to try out this restaurant from the reviews I had read. Because my airplane was delayed, I wasn't able to arrive until 8:15 PM. The restaurant closes at 9:00 PM. I ordered the five-course meal plus the wine tasting. I was forewarned by my waiter that the courses "may come closer together since the kitchen closes at 9 PM." The waiter wasn't joking. He put one course down before I had finished the other. Same with the wine. After the third course, I requested that the kitchen slow their roll so that I could actually enjoy the experience and the food. I understand staff wanting to go home, but have some pride in what you do and in your restaurant. Someone aside from the server delivered the scallop, exclaiming, "Here's the scallop". There was no explanation of the dish's accompaniments. When the waiter dropped off the wine that paired with the dessert, I had to ask what it was. He turned around and said, "oh, it's a port". When the dessert was delivered, the waiter exclaimed that the kitchen had gone home and this was the best he could do. Wow. Despite the food being good, I feel like I wasted $140. The service was not commiserate with the cost. I wish I would have followed my instinct and had gone to FarmBar, but I read on Tuesdays they only have a pop-up menu and I really wanted to try a variety of food. I felt hurried the entire time. In fact, the bartender was doing his entire closeout procedures which included taking out the trash and loudly dragging the container back in across the floor in the area where I was sitting. In any case, this restaurant seems to have gotten complacent and could care less about the customer experience. For a highly priced restaurant, I expect more. It has potential but the staff needs some serious retraining. Lastly, the upholstery needs replacing (at least in the bar area). It's worn and dingy.
Food was good. Service was alright. Was charged $75 dollars for a $7.5 1/2 bottle of wine. Rip off.
