This dinner was wonderful. It was a good bloody rare steak. Local to Tyler, & great place for events or perhaps a large family gathering.

Everything was a amazing, it is pretty expensive but its is definitely worth it. I will be coming back here again. In the photo I had already started eating the grilled salmon before I remembered to take a picture.

We just had the best; shaved steak sandwich, steak tacos, taco salad and bread pudding any of us have ever had. And we eat out a lot. All over the world. Service (Heath) was also five stars. This place was a home run. Great ambiance. Wow. Wow. Wow.

We had shrimp cocktail, fried mushrooms, the catfish, greens, potatoes au gratin, and the pan fried garlic chicken dish. We also had bread pudding and peach cobbler. Everything we ordered was amazing, except the chicken. Skip it. Ignore it. Pretend it doesn't exist. It was an unseasoned, dry, stringy chicken breast. Very disappointed. (Photo attached.) But get the shrimp! The mushrooms. I ate some catfish and it was great - and I normally hate catfish. The bread pudding has a strawberry on it and I'm deathly allergic - not listed on the menu so ask good questions. Our server was in the weeds but trying super hard. Over all very, very good. I'll definitely be back.

Had a great lunch and the customer service was excellent, I had the Hawaiian burger and fries. It was delicious and perfectly cooked.

Took my daughter here tonight for a mama/daughter evening. Jacob was a great waiter.. The hostess was a little snooty, but the evening was great and food is always great. I work on the square so I often order their food for lunch and it never disappoints. Dinner is a different atmosphere tho. In a good way. Their bread pudding is absolutely phenomenal and has a flan texture. Will always go back! Many yrs ago before I worked on the square, I served as a juror for 5 straight days and this was our lunch every single day. Has been consistently wonderful for years! (Pictured: bread pudding)

This was a great choice for our Friday night date. Before we got there we did not know about the live music but apparently this is the place to be for great live music. The band was awesome with 80s music and played all the hit songs.... one after another. But we were there for the food and we ordered Mezze platter, Mediterranean Chicken Salad and Voodoo Chicken Tacos. All three items were really good. Tacos were spicy hot with generous fillings. Mezze platter was pretty good with mostly authentic taste items. Margaritas were good and 'old fashioned' was not bad with traditional taste but little too bitter. They have large menu with steak and seafood and burgers. Burgers on a brioche bun was odd and I had to pass on that since there was no other bread choice for the burger. I definitely plan to go back to Rick's place for some more music and next time will have to try the Hawaiian burger. Since we went rhere earlier for dinner we got in without a reservation. Otherwise a reservation is highly recommended.

Great dining experience! Not crowded on a Monday evening. The service was the best (thanks to Heath). The fruit plate was so fresh, Cesar's salad also. Special was crabmeat-stuffed redfish (see photo). It came out hot and plenty for both of us to share. I highly recommend the bread pudding or banana pudding for dessert; different than any I've had before.

Excellent! Best "pulled pork sandwich" I've ever had. Sweet barbecue sauce with a bite. Roll was soft and lightly toasted and scrumptious. Option of potato chips, fries, or onion rings. Easily eaten with a fork, but not lacking in moisture. Great service with Heath and great atmosphere. Love this place! I'll be back.

Highly recommend this restaurant. Casual fine dining. Nice, relaxing atmosphere. Staff were professional and nice. Well maintained restaurant. Our server, Heath, did an amazing job. The food is freshly made and delicious. We recommend the fried oysters, sauteed squash, and bread pudding. Definitely plan to go again.

Great ambiance. Loved the historical wood construction with the exposed brick walls and the post modern painting. Loved watching the game projected on the big screen. They told us about a 30 minute wait on a Saturday night at 7p but we were seated within 15 minutes. The food was amazing. I had tacos and they were a perfect blend of flavor and size, not too small but also not too big. Slight preference for the pork taco. Others at the table got the red fish taco and shared that was their favorite. We finished the night with a bread pudding which had a good balance of sugar sweet. Another review had hinted a bit of a flan type texture which was a good description. Service was great. Will be back again!

Walking in, it was a bit upscale & a bit bar with big tv. Our server was Rachel, who was excellent. She was helpful and personable. We enjoyed our cocktails. We ordered a 5 oz filet with scalloped potatoes & grilled vegetables. Unfortunately the filet was overcooked but Rachel quickly had it made right. Second filet perfect. The grilled veggies were sooo good. So were potatoes. Gumbo was very tasty. Definitely recommend & will return.

My friend took me to Rick's for my birthday they had a band playing and it was great, First time I had ever been. The atmosphere was super relaxing and the Wait staff very professional and friendly. We had some great appetizers, killer bloody Mary's and the Reuben was superb... Love the salt and pepper steak fries ... Will be going back

Wildly exceeded my expectations. Fantastic, amazing southern comfort food at a decent price. Top-tier approachable and engaged staff. And the atmosphere—especially out on the patio—is great. A+

Great food, and service. Quick on the drinks and food. I’d go with the filet over ribeye, personal preference though!

We've been coming to Rick's for almost 4 years, and it is one of the best spots in town. I will say that we try to avoid going during the busy times. For food: We recommend the filet oscar, gumbo, ahi seared tuna, and grilled Texas bites. For drinks: bluebonnet, indian paintbrush, and pimm's cup if you like specialty cocktails, or they can make you whatever you want.

We had a fun evening at Rick‘s on the Square. Excellent service and good food. Stayed for the live music and the band was solid.

We were in town for gymnastics competition and thought we give this place a try. So our group of 12 was very glad we chose Ricks because everyone enjoyed what they ordered. I didn’t hear any complaints, the waiter’s were amazing with bringing our food out making sure everybody ordered was correct. They went above and beyond to get anything we needed( specially pickle spears lol)

We had the pleasure of having an Awesome waiter named Brayson, who was on top of everything. We could tell he enjoyed his job and truly wanted diners very satisfied with the service he provided. For our dessert the cook even created a beautiful intricate rose made from a strawberry. The best cheesecake ever. Thank you

The kind of older restaurant and bar with character, quality service, and good food. This venue is just on the square of Tyler and with the construction improvements, this hangout should become an even better destination for lunch or dinner.

Needed a place to put my brain on ice today. The patio at Rick’s on the square was perfect. The heaters were on, the vitamin D felt amazing, my gumbo was fantastic and my extra dirty martini was the best I have had in a very long time. Thanks for the perfect break in my day!

Rick’s in downtown Tyler is a true gem, offering a perfect blend of atmosphere, quality, and service. Upon entering, you’re immediately greeted by a warm and inviting ambiance that sets the tone for an exceptional experience. The well Jameson’s is a standout—smooth, rich, and served with care, providing the perfect complement to their wide selection of drinks. For those who prefer something refreshing, the Miller Lites are ice-cold and crisp, ideal for a casual yet refined night out. The culinary offerings are equally impressive. The chicken nachos, in particular, are a must-try. Generously portioned and layered with tender, perfectly seasoned chicken, they’re an irresistible mix of flavors and textures. The combination of gooey cheese, fresh toppings, and a touch of spice elevates this dish beyond standard bar fare. Overall, Rick’s is an exquisite place to unwind and enjoy both impeccable drinks and a delicious meal, all in a setting that feels both lively and laid-back.

I dined here last night with my boyfriend. Heath was our server and he was amazing! He was very personable and constantly checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. We had the crawfish beignets for an appetizer and they were awesome. The bread pudding was delicious and the drinks as well!

Very cool restaurant! The menu has lots of options for lunch and dinner. Steak was good!

Excellent food and service. Every dish we have tried has been perfect, and we always have the same waiter who makes the experience that much better. It's not exactly cheap to eat here, so be prepared. The atmosphere is dark enough where we needed our phone flashlights to read the menu, and the bathroom is a labyrinth away.

We came on a Monday night and loved everything about it. The grilled oysters on the half-shell are outstanding. The bartender was a pleasure and knew her stuff. She made drinks we didn't even know existed. Tell them what you like to drink, and they'll mix something delish up - doesn't matter if it's on the cocktail menu or not. Excellent burgers and steaks. Loved the homemade deserts. We found the prices very fair too. Good value.

We loved our dinner here at Rick’s on the Square! I had the red fish tacos and a side salad. Fresh ingredients and great service! My husband enjoyed the salmon! We shared a slice of key lime pie and it was excellent! Who ever manages the music needs an award. Awesome rat pack songs all the way to 70s. Love!

We were in town for business and we like to support the local resteraunts. Rick's has a wonderful atmosphere and the manager was super friendly and helped us pick from the menu. My husband chose the prime rib sandwich. He did a little happy dance, so I know it was delicious...I had the chicken fried steak and it was also very good. We had the bread pudding for dessert which was fabulous, we ate it all! We are debating whether to go back tonight and try something different. We will definitely put this on our list to revisit on our next trip to Tyler!

We recently hosted a rehearsal dinner at Rick’s, and it was absolutely perfect in every way! Rick went above and beyond to work with me on the planning and menu selection. His communication was excellent. On the day of, Heath, the manager, truly did a phenomenal job and worked his tail off and met my every request. All of the staff were so kind and attentive, the room was beautiful, and the food was excellent! We received so many compliments. Don’t hesitate to book Rick’s for your next event!

Great food, and our waitress made sure my drink was always full and that we didn't need anything else. The band kept our ladies singing, which is what we always want. Me on the other hand, prefer a little harder jams and not so much the wimpy radio favorites. But hey, the girls liked it so, "winning".

Sorry, I don't have any pictures. This was the second time my wife and have been to Rick's. This time it was for our 30th anniversary, and I must say, this visit was even better than the first! It was a Monday evening, so there wasn't a crowd, and the music was audible but not so loud that we couldn't chat quietly. Jessica was our server and she did an outstanding job. I had tried to arrange with the manager ahead of time to play a specific song from the wedding, but unfortunately you can't really look up particular songs on Pandora. But thanks for trying, Danny. All in all, this was an awesome experience. Oh yeah, almost forgot. The kitchen staff obviously know how to perform, because the meal was almost unbelievable it was so good. Thanks, everybody!

Great place to hang out and eat! Food was phenomenal. The rib eye, raw oysters, and fried mushrooms were great but what really stood out were the sides (I got turnip greens and sautéed squash) and my drink! Those sides sent the food over the edge in the best way and the Part Time Lover with tequila was heavenly. Beautiful flavors!! Our server Heath was very friendly and helpful. A little extra LOL but we enjoyed his service. There was a band playing that we enjoyed towards the end. We'll definitely be back!

J
Jennifer McAlister

I had the grilled pork chops, potatoes grautin, and grilled veggies. The pork chops were so tender that I was able to cut it using a fork and butter knife. Yes, I said butter knife! The grilled veggies had a sweet sauce on them that I wasn't pleased with but everything else was good. They played R&B music, the old school vibe not the new one! The only thing that I didn't like was that they charged us a processing fee for using our card but wasn't told about it until we received our check. Had I known upfront, then it would've been ok because I know there is a fee but to be surprised by it wasn't right, in my opinion. Would I go back? Most definitely, the appetizers of fried mushrooms, chicken nuggets, and jalapeño poppers stuffed with shredded chicken was superb! The parking is horrible but that's to be expected when parking downtown. Oh yeah, the banana pudding was good too!

J
Jason Simon

This place is a vibe! Love the food, the drinks, the wait staff. Literally everything on the menu is spectacular and they have great beverages to accommodate the great flavors. Make sure to catch it a night with music definitely has a great vibe!

There’s plenty of places to go in Tyler, but you won’t find anything like Rick’s. There’s a certain sensuality and warmth to this place, that can only be defined by the staff. Trusted capable people with a passion for what they do is a rare thing in this world. It was pretty damn refreshing. To Alyssa, thank you for the time and heartfelt conversation. To Jay and Heath thanks for letting Toughy in. You lead one hell of a team and should be proud.

This local restaurant never disappoints our family. Great food, specifically the seafood salad, is my personal favorite. My husband prefers the burgers and no one pushes away the decadent bread pudding. If I could just come for dessert I would!

Even though I haven’t been back to Tyler or to Rick’s in many Years, I will never forget seeing Kenny Wayne Shepherd perform here on 2 or 3 separate occasions back in the 90’s & seeing KWS here was Phenomenal! One of the KWS concerts I saw here was during Halloween & KWS was wearing a Jimi Hendrix costume. All were Great Performances!

In town for the weekend and stopped by because my said it sounded good, glad we did. Great atmosphere, great food and prices are good as well. Our server, Ryilee was amazing! Very friendly and attentive, she couldn't be better. Will definitely come back the next time we're in town. Thank you for a great meal and experience.

Nice exterior on the downtown square. Parking meters are free on the weekends. Found a spot right across from the entrance. We arrived around 7:30pm on a Friday evening. The place was like a ghost town. Not many people in the area or at the restaurant. We went inside and saw the hostess. She had a bland personality and wasn't too helpful. We were there to see a band that started at 8:30pm on the patio. She informed us that the patio was open seating and we would be required to pay a cover for the band. We paid her, then she gave us 3 menus and 3 silverware settings...then we were required to seat ourselves even though I told her we had never been there before. We found the patio after a few questions...The patio was really neat, nestled in between two old brick buildings. There is two levels, upper level has tv's and the lower level is closer to the stage. Fans were on to keep the summer air circulated. FYI, This is a SMOKING facility on the patio. We found our seat, there were plenty of options since it was not busy at all. The waitress greeted us promptly. She was polite, had a smile and helpful. Lots of options on the menu. Custom cocktails and a decent wine list. All beers are bottle or can (NO Draft!?), choices are nothing to brag about. Ordered pork chops, chicken fried chicken and pulled pork sandwich as entrees. All food was delicious. Sides were also very flavorful. The band came on as promised. It was a private concert for the first 45 min set, as it was our table and one other couple on the upper level. In the middle of the 2nd set, around 10:00pm the patio began to fill with patrons and partiers. Band was talented. There was a small dance floor in front of the stage that my wife and I used to cut a rug. A couple others danced once the alcohol started kicking in. All in all, we ended up having a good time. We will probably visit again if there is a band that we want to see. To me, that was the biggest draw...Great patio and a good mix of entertainment.

Went here for my birthday... Place was dark 2 me had a hard time reading the menu... It was very loud to me... But I must say the food was great! I was with my old lady and she also loved the food... We will be back 🤗👍🏿 We did not stay for the band

Food is good. Some of it is expensive for what you get. Only got three shrimp on my shrimp fettuccine alfredo. Dessert was great with a large portion of the mascarpone cheesecake which was excellent! Lots of interesting appetizer choices. Good atmosphere, seems like a great place for large groups to come, or to take a date. Service was a bit slow, but we were there on an off time. Has an attached bar area.

Was very pricey. Food was okay. Our server Calista was sweet. The Deviled Eggs we're very good. I ordered a Taco Salad with NO avocado or tomato. I got plenty of both on my salad. My daughter got the Hawaiian Burger. Was good. My Husband got the Texas Burger. It was very spicy but good. The fries were good. The Onion Rings were okay. They had NO Sweet Tea. The can of Sprite was very flat. The Coke in my Husband Jack & Coke was very flat. The Lemonade was good. The Banana Pudding and Key Lime Pie was good

My husband and I recently had dinner at Ricks, this was our first time eating here. We were there on a Friday around 6:15pm so it wasn’t very busy at all. Our server was Heath and he was very knowledgeable about the menu and funny! My husband has a seafood allergy and we told Heath and they were able to accommodate him. We both had the cocktails, the Bluebonnet and Long Island Iced Tea. Both drinks were good but I think we preferred the LIT. We had the Grilled Texas Bites for an appetizer and I truly enjoyed them! My husband had a rib eye, purple hulled peas and fried okra. He was a little disappointed in his medium rare steak. He said that it lacked seasoning. Initially he didn’t ask for an add-on sauce for the steak but after tasting it he asked for the creamy peppercorn. I had chicken fried chicken, sauteed squash and steak fries. I thoroughly enjoyed my entire meal. The squash was well seasoned! There was so much food that we both had to get to go containers. Overall I would recommend Ricks for those wanting to try a steak and seafood restaurant without the hustle and bustle that come with other restaurants. Just FYI, we arrived before the live entertainment that was scheduled at 8pm so I am not certain how the ambience was at that point.

K

We had a great experience here for lunch when we were in town for a short stay. We ordered sandwiches. I ordered the BLT that comes with half a pound of bacon! Wow. I could hardly take a bite. It was stuffed. Delicious. The hand cut steak fries were perfectly seasoned, not too salty. Our waitress was very friendly and prompt. The patrons next to us were rude to the waitress, and she handled it with grace and continued being cordial and prompt. They have a large selection from the menu for just about anyone's taste - steak, seafood, salad, pasta, sandwiches, street tacos, and more.

C
Clarissa Robinson

This was a delivery order and the food was still hot when it arrived. We ordered the Fried Catfish, Chicken Fried Pork Chops, Chicken Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, greens, cornbread muffin, purple hull peas, banana pudding and peach cobbler. Out of all of that, the peach cobbler and the purple hull peas were the star of the show, the rest was mediocre. The pork chop and chicken breast were ok just lacked flavor. The catfish wasn't cooked throughly, we threw it out. I was expecting the greens to be homemade and they were canned greens. The mac and cheese had potential, it was a little bit overcooked. The mashed potatoes and muffin were ok. The banana pudding wasn't good at all, the bananas that were in it were super dark and old plus the wafers were mushy. Disappointed to say the least because we spent $100 and only enjoyed $20 worth.

M
Marshall Brown

The food is good and the portions are plentiful. The dining area needs some higher wattage lightbulbs though. It's hard to see your food with dark wood, black table cloths, and dim bulbs.

K

Our first time visiting the restaurant, I had the pot roast, big portion served, meat was so tender along with the potatoes and carrots. Definitely will be going back to try the other dishes such as the meatloaf on Tuesdays. This place is certainly worth a visit.

Rick’s didn’t live up to the hype for me. We’ve been to see bands so were excited to try the food but we were left underwhelmed. I wasn’t expecting gourmet or anything but this was chain restaurant quality. Also, why is everything stuffed with angel hair? To cut costs? The server was dry and uninterested but so am I so I didn’t mind. My wife, however, did. The food wasn’t terrible but “not terrible” really isn’t ideal, is it? Maybe we’ll try again in the future and I’ll make different selections but for now, Rick’s is mid in my book.

C

Excellent food! Hubby had the chicken fried steak, okra, and turnip greens and I had the prime rib dip, both were fabulous 🤩. Our server Abriana was fantastic! Music wasn't our genre so didn't stay - was definitely filling up with college students. ✌️

We are from out of town so really had no idea where to go, my son chose this place since it was his birthday. We were not impressed when we first walked in it felt dank and greasy and there were literally maybe 2 other tables at 7:00 on a Thursday. I got the feeling it was not kid friendly but we had our 3 year old and decided to roll with it. The hostess, like others have said, was on her phone a lot. Nobody came to our table for a while; once our waitress got there she was nice and gave recommendations which I always appreciate. I was surprised by the food as I was not expecting it to be good. Pita bread and hummus appetizer: hummus was pretty good and had good flavor, pita was like cardboard. I got the bacon and blue cheese burger and honestly it was one of the best burgers I have ever had; cooked perfectly, they have a homemade ranch dressing that is DELISH and went so well with my burger. Penne pasta was good, macaroni and cheese was good. Chicken fried chicken was pretty good. House made chips were good. It was pretty expensive and like others I don't like being up charged because I use a debit card. It was over 200$ and we don't drink alcohol. We had 4 adults, 2 teenagers, 11 year old, and 3 year old. The waitress was sure to let me know their restaurant was geared more towards adults so we probably will not be going back because we always have children but I would not mind having that burger to-go again!

There is a 3% charge to your bill if you use any type of card payment. This was not disclosed to us until after our meal. My recommendation to the establishment is to let patrons know before ordering. The food was fantastic and so was the atmosphere. Great service from all staff.

J

Had the lunch special, beef tips over rice. It was very tender and well cooked. Needed a little bit more flavor but I’d eat it again. Taylor was an amazing server.

M

We ate lunch here last week and the food was good but the service left quite a bit to be desired. The problem was mainly that it took so long to get our food, specifically about 40 minutes. We had arrived there at around 2:00 and we were about the only people in the restaurant so the explanation could not have been that they were busy. The server did not check in on us very often nor did he offer any explanation as to why it was taking so long to receive our order. My chicken fried chicken was very good but there just was not very much of it for the price. The mashed potatoes and gravy were delicious as were the green beans.

K
Kaicee Campbell

We had a large group for a joint birthday party. Sam and MJ did an excellent job taking care of us. I can assure you if we go back, I'll request to be seated with one of them. Our food came out timely, they kept our drinks filled and they're just delightful people! Heath was very kind in rearranging our tables to accommodate everyone. The atmosphere was great and the food was good.

This past weekend was my birthday weekend. Even though I received a call stating that my reservation was void due to the fact that I wanted the Patio. Upon having to seat ourselves as the hosted directed us to the area and told us to grab any table. After waiting for 15 mins for a waitress or waiter. Heath the waiter and manager from what I hear. Asked my party to move . That this is for reserved for regulars that’s why it was marked reserved. Now I’m thinking that I just received a call that you could reserve the patio. On top of waiting 20 mins for drinks 15 mins to receive them , then having to wait 20 mins just to get menus, my hubs was being charged unnecessary amounts for things that he didn’t order. The appetizers weren’t just as good as you would have expected for the price. The catfish was horrible. I had traveled and paid 187.00 for bad service and horrible food, and drinks that were small and you had to mix them yourself. I’m such a foodie and didn’t enjoy anything but the patio .

J
Jeremy Smith

Have to say, rather disappointing to be honest. Server was not very attentive, nachos were missing pico, the breading did not stick to the chicken fried steak and her “medium rare” steak was well done. Why they put the steak on that big of a plate I couldn’t tell you but it made it look even smaller. WAY overpriced for what we got.

K
Katie Cummings

First of all let me say I used to really enjoy Rick's. However, my most recent visit was just not very good. Our waitress was great but that's where the compliments end. The food was sub par at best. I make better deviled eggs. Except for the Ranch, the sauces were strange. My husband got catfish but his tartar sauce was more like honey mustard. We asked the waitress if she accidentally brought honey mustard and she said "no, I think that's how they make it." Which is not ok. The Thousand Island I had with my Reuben was more like Canes sauce, but witouth the flavor. It was a Friday night at 7:30 and should've been busy, especially with the cover charge to watch the band at 10. I think that's partly why it's so dead on a Friday. People don't want to pay extra to sit on a great patio for dinner if they aren't staying for the band. There has to be a better way to navigate that. This is my experience and these are my opinions. Take it for what it's worth. Thanks.

The food was average and not much flavor. The service was slightly below average. The cheeseburger was bland with no flavor. We will not be back and pay over 50 bucks for sub par food.

Food here is usually is very satisfying but this past Saturday it missed it's mark. We had family in from out of town to attend a birthday dinner. We had talked up the experience before everyone ordered there food. To start the gorganzola wongtons was missing all of it's gorganzola. There where multiple orders of catfish, one order of redfish and two steak dinners. All of these dishes were completely missing it's seasoning. My wife comes here half a dozen times a year and it's never been like this. Not sure if the cook, or supplier has changed but please go back to what y'all are known for. Not use to eating catfish in east Tx that's not seasoned. We'll give it another try in a few months.

We ordered a $50 steak. The presentation of the food was nothing special. We waited at least 10 minutes before anyone attended to us although I will say the waitress was nice when we got service and it wasn’t busy yet when we arrived. My food was not cooked the way I ordered it and for the cost of the steak I would’ve expected it to taste way better than it did. The steak had no flavor except pepper. The squash was more like baby food squash. I normally don’t complain but we won’t be going back. We spent $150 for 2 and it was nothing special.

Nothing stellar with food, but a great old fashioned. Higher end appearance, that lacks the upkeep to justify the price. Peer around the room and you'll notice copious amounts of dust and the rest...shame. Clean up a little and it would be a revisit for me. Very slow time of the day, so service was good.

Food was very underwhelming. I do recommend the crawfish beignets. They were very flavorful. Green beans were canned and just mush. Steak fries without any seasoning. Reuben was huge, but scorched. The house made chips were too salty to eat. The steak we had at our table was cooked perfectly and was a decent cut, but even for ribeye, a little too marbled. A nice size and good flavor. The wedge salad with blue cheese dressing was a little cloying for some reason. Did not have red onions as is tradition, so the white onions did not add a nice sharpness. Atmosphere is almost sportsbar-ish. The bar area was pleasant. Nice high ceilings which broke up the dining sounds nicely. Our waiter was tops and rather charming. If this were a more elegant place, I'd say he was a bit to "familiar", but for Tyler and the type of place this is, he was spot on. His only real faux pas was repeatedly stating there were large parties to deflect our slow delivery of food. Food took a while. Guests should not be told about internal issues. Bathroom was very unpleasant with a towel machine that gave like 3 inches of towel and a used Mrs. Meyers soap dispenser filled with some industrial solution. I would say this place is fine for a casual night out, but it is not elegant. No waits on a Saturday night though we did make reservations. Easy parking and valet available.

It's a decent place but way overpriced. Got three drinks on a Saturday night and it was $50 with tip, plus the amount on the bill didn't match the amount on the charge slip (before tip). Have visited a few times before and it's ok but not all that. Unfortunately it's where the typical "Tylerite" crowd likes to go, so for them it's all about how much you spend.

Service was good, Food was not. Their Greek hummus plate was fantastic wish we only ordered that. Hope it improves after construction is over.

The kitchen messed up my food (a taco) so I sent it back to be remade. By the time it came out, my side (which I paid extra for) was cold, and my date was finished eating. We also asked for salt and pepper but also seasoning for his salmon because it tasted as if nothing was on it. When our bill came, over $70, I asked if anything could be done about my food being wrong, then very late (not even mentioning the bland food). The manager came over and immediately was confrontational asking what do I want done about it. I said whatever he thinks is right. He said they fixed my taco so everything should be good. (I never said I want my meal free or even discounted, I simply asked if he could do anything to make it right. I even said I didn’t know how much my food even cost.) He was insistent he fixed the taco and we should be good not seeming to care about how long it took to get my food correctly. He eventually said he’d take the cost of my taco ($7.00) off our bill after repeatedly saying he fixed the taco. We are very disappointed. This is definitely not the treatment I would expected from such a wonderful establishment like Rick’s on the Square. I noticed the manager walking around and going outside the front door at least twice while we were there. When an order is messed, I would think the manager would want to, if at all possible, apologize and ensure the customer they are fixing it and getting it out correctly asap and appear to give a crap about how we are feeling about the situation. This manager absolutely did not give a crap about us. Incredibly disappointing.

Place has a great atmosphere, but food does not reflect. Soup was straight out the can. Chilling was on par with dairy queen chilly. Pulled pork sandwich was bad, I've had better sloppy Joe's in high school. The fried appetizers were ok, all had the same bland batter. This was extremely disappointing.

The restaurant is cute in general. They have upstairs available for private booking and an outside area with live music. My party and I, arrived there but there was no indoor seating available so we decided to seat outside but there was a 10$ cover charge for each, i am assuming because of the live music which is totally understandable. The band was amazing, i loved their performance, however the service on our table was bad. Everything took so long, and the waitress was nowhere to be found and kind of rude. We ordered drinks and appetizers we got them but no water and no silverware. We had to bother another waitress for those cause ours disappeared for 30 mins but by that time we had to eat with our hands. We asked for another round of drinks and we receive them one whole hour later. We got main courses, the salmon was dreadful and my brother ordered fried pork ribs or something and it was raw. We didn’t want to send it back cause it would have taken so long to prepare another one. Also we asked for a beer and the waitress said it’s gonna take a while… for a beer…..??? Like why? and she recommended we should go inside the bar if we want it fast. Just ridiculous. Definitely not coming back.

We have been here many times but tonight was upsetting and embarrassing. We ordered our regular appetizer and were making our choices for our meal and desert. I am diabetic and i take my diet sprite with me everywhere. Tonight was no different. After i was about half way finished with it the waitress came over and told me that she got in trouble by the manager. He "really fussed" at her because i brought in my own drink. I nicely let the waitress know that i was diabetic and diet sprite is the only soda i can tolerate. Before i finished the sentance she started shaking her head and told me it didnt matter. She then informed me that everyone has that rule and she just stood there for the longest time. So long that we thought she was going to take my cup away. I was embarrassed and it totally ruined our date night. We finish our appetizer and did not order anything else. So, over a drink worth a couple dollars the manager chose to make a big deal. Was it really worth embarrassing your customer by calling them out over an unwritten rule? (Honistly it is not stated anywhere!) Was it really worth making a customer feel like the place they chose to eat dinner is owned by a person who cares nothing about them or their evening out. They lost way more than the cost of a soda since we did not order 2 meals and we did not order 2 deserts. Plus... we might not go back.

For an established restaurant, I do not feel they should charge their customers a 3% fee for using a charge card. Would not have been upset over this is if I was told up front! Had a Ruben sandwich, which was good. Homemade potato chips tasted like leftovers heated up- they tasted like old grease. Had to ask for a glass for my beer, in which I was rudely told it’s not standard to come with a glass. Would not go back.

I don’t normally like to be negative but with a $133 bill I would have expected A LOT better food! Texas burger had zero seasoning and flavor and the homemade chips also had zero seasoning and were room temp so no added seasoning would stick! Grilled shrimp taco also no seasoning and the only flavor was the sauce! Better tacos at Taco Bell! The filet mignon was ok but not worth the price! Best thing we ordered was the Rick’s Wings tossed with bbq sauce. Disappointed for an anniversary dinner! Our waitress was Chloe and she was awesome!!! That is all!!😵‍💫

I have mixed feelings about this place. Hostess and waitress were both on their cell phones constantly. Hostess actually made us wait until she finished her tiktok video or whatever she was doing. The waitress was nice. Started off good, but went slowly downhill from there. The chicken fried chicken is crispy, but extremely greasy in a bad way, not a fried way. Cream gravy was good. All their peas etc taste straight from a can, no flavor. Potatoes were bland. Salad and dressing are very good. They charge extra for using a card to pay. Your prices are already up there, just add the charge into the food. I hate the sneak attack at the end. The brunette bartender with the thick lush eyebrows, (sorry I don't know your name) was very kind and attentive. Not to just us, but to everyone at her bar. You need more like her! Her smile made us feel welcomed. If you go here, maybe stick to salads and none fried food. It's got a nice atmosphere. Pin up girl fans look above the bar.

I’m giving 2 stars for the first three times I’ve been. The food is fantastic. The service is usually great. We were in today for dinner (5/10 5:30 PM) & sat at the bar. There were two ladies working. The younger of the two was our server or bartender, not sure. Either way, I will never be back. She was so rude. Not only was she rude but we told her three times we do not drink & she kept offering us alcohol. I was really looking forward to dinner, we love this place. But we left. When you have people come into your establishment, the least you can do is have a good attitude. I will not spend my money somewhere that thinks good customer service is optional.

The staff was very friendly & welcoming! Our sever was good, but the food was not. I was expecting my food to have more flavor…the grilled veggies I got tasted sour. The only thing I actually enjoyed were the onion rings & my glass of wine. I wouldn't return just based on the simple fact that the prices do not reflect quality in my opinion…I was with a group of friends, there were 5 of us. We all got different things. Unfortunately, we all agreed it wasn’t very good & we wouldn’t go out of our way to return!

We came for a rehearsal dinner and had the upstairs ballroom reserved. Had a limited three item menu (salmon, fettuccine, or Burger) and it still took over two hours to get our food. They served tables based on proximity to the kitchen so the head table was served second to last. Salmon was flavorless and the veggies were cold by the time the food got to our table.

We came for dinner for the first time after hearing it was good. We both had a pasta dish because we figured you cant go wrong woth pasta. My husband had the Alfredo and I had the al a vodka. The pasta was way overcooked (should always be al dente so when added to the hot sauce it doesn't get mushy, which ours was). The Alfredo had no flavor, no salt. Just bland. The vodka sauce was okay. It at least had flavor. The chicken also was not seasoned. Way overpriced for what we received. As someone who owned restraunts and travels a lot, I wouldnt recommend.

I came here for New Year’s Eve 2024 because there was nothing else going on in town, and I will say the night itself was fun, though that had everything to do with the wonderful people I met. My issue is quite specifically with their exorbitant prices. Please tell me how you can justify a $25 cover charge in Tyler, Texas? I pay that (and sometimes even less than that) to go see well-known bands with at least one opener. But I digress, this was not the worst thing about the night. The cover charge was nothing compared to their drink prices. I’m an avid Manhattan fan, and I was so happy to see it on the menu. However, I didn’t prefer their whiskey choice so I requested my favorite bourbon, which they had. I had 3 drinks the entire night, and according to their website the base Manhattan price is $13. I expected, as with most every establishment, a bit of an upcharge for the drinks. However, I received my ticket back and they had charged me an extra $11 PER DRINK. $33 in added fees — ON TOP of the base price of $13. If I had known they were going to charge me separately for the bourbon on top of the drink price, I probably would’ve dealt with the whiskey or just left. If you want to throw away your money for an honestly average experience, this is the place for you, but I suggest going just about anywhere else in town or just heading to Dallas if you actually want to have fun while spending this much.

The first time we visited Rick's, it was amazing. The service was great, and there was music afterwards. However, last night was completely different. We were given room temperature water with no ice we had to ask for it. It took over an hour to receive our food. I ordered a salad as an appetizer, and after waiting about 30 minutes, I asked the server, and it was finally brought out. I ordered a ribeye, and to say the least, it was extremely disappointing. All the food was extremely bland. I actually brought it home so I could add some seasonings. When leaving, we needed to use the restroom, and the host told us to come right back, acting as if we were attempting to sneak into the live music. I find that extremely rude, as I am an adult and was spoken to like a child. The bill, just for myself, was $60, and I would have been happier with McDonald's. The staff is rude, and the food is bland. I wouldn't waste my money again.

We made a reservation for 9pm and drove over from Shreveport, La Our waitress Elsa and the rest of the staff were very nice but sadly our food experience was nothing short of terrible. We received drinks and appetizers an hour after we arrived. My fiancée ordered their Swoon special, asked for her ribeye to be med rare and it came out well done. When the second ribeye came out it was not only rare but was thin and looked more like a skirt steak than a ribeye. They were also out of baked potatoes so she had to pick another side I ordered chicken fried pork chop. It came out raw and my grilled vegetables tasted like lighter fluid and balsamic, as well our au gratin potatoes tasted like they had white gravy on them. 2 hours later, we are driving home hungry and very disappointed. I will say they “helped” with our check, as they put it. Overall, I will most likely never go back to this restaurant.

I must be missing something here. The food was awful and unseasoned. We started out with deviled eggs, which tasted bland and cheap, and also ordered jalapeño poppers, which was alright. For mains, I had a reuben with chips, pretty plain and no salt, and my husband had the steak sandwich, which had no seasoning and taste exactly like plain steak with cheese on bread. My husband ordered one drink, an old fashioned, which cost $22!! That's more than we've been charged for an over priced old fashioned in Vegas. This place is just over priced Diner food. I really don't understand why this place has good reviews. Our bill was $100 for the awful food. You're better off going to Sonic. I don't eat fast food, but it would taste better than this

I came here for a going away party on 1/19/24 and this is the worst experience at any restaurant I’ve ever had in Tyler. Food - I ordered the Hawaiian cheeseburger and chips and the burger, as well as the chips were both burnt. Several of my coworkers also had issues with the quality and lack of flavor of the food. Service - we had a decent size group so I was cutting the waitress a little bit of slack. HOWEVER, I sat at the table for 3 hours and didn’t get a single refill on my water, and the waitress spilled someone’s water on our table, gave us a rag and never gave us new napkins or silverware. Bill - Unfortunately the 20% tip was included in the bill due to party size, or else I wouldn’t have tipped. When I paid my 20.73 bill, I paid with 21$ in cash and never saw any of my change. The waitress KEPT the 27 cents, which isn’t much, but for terrible service and food, I was going to keep my change. I will NEVER be back to this establishment and I’m sure several of my coworkers share the same sentiment.

We drove almost 2 hours to come to ROTS for a date night last night and were greeted by the rudest hostess I’ve ever encountered. We walked through the rain to get in the door, and she told us that we could only sit outside or on the couch. We obviously didn’t want to sit outside because of the rain (didn’t realize until after we left that some seating was covered; she never offered that information). She told us there was no waiting list and that she “couldn’t keep up with that”. We asked if we could have a few drinks at the bar while we waited on a table… That basically was not an option so she told us again that we could go outside or sit on the couch… All while obnoxiously trying to charge a $10 cover per person to listen to music that we weren’t even allowed in the room to hear or see! Last night, we were treated like we were a bother and NOT welcome whatsoever. ROTS must not require or teach customer service… It was so bad that we will never be back.

Bartenders extremely rude, and basically belittled me when I asked for my drinks. Gave me attitude and I told her she’d receive a zero tip so better give my tab to someone else who will care / be respectful. I ordered shots and drinks that never came out. I refused to pay the tab due to not receiving the order, then they proceed to charge my card and FORGE the tip / signature line. I found this out because I disputed the entire charge through my bank and they sent me a copy of the forged receipt. Glad my bank forced the refund and gave me my money back. Yeah will never be back and will make sure everyone in our community knows as well

I took my wife for Valentine's Day to have a special dinner and to enjoy a band. That did not happen. We were seated two rooms away from the band. The waiter would only let us order our drinks before he left and didn't return for almost 30 minutes. Then we got to pick an appetizer, and he left for almost 30 minutes again. Then we got to order our meals, which took at least 30 more minutes to get and were brought by someone else. The waiter finally returned about 15 minutes after we received our food, which was missing my shrimp, and some of the food needed salt, which took him some time to bring back. The redfish was dry, and the shrimp was overcooked. Our food and two drinks cost $175, and the service was crap; the food was subpar. Two hours and $175 later, we finally got to leave. We will never return.

This is the worst catfish that I've ever eaten and something about this mac and cheese don't no about it either. The coleslaw is somewhat good but too much pepper. We went to Rick's on the square yesterday in Tyler.. I mean it ain't got no taste to it and their tartar sauce to me it tastes like honey mustard. Definitely not worth $20

I ordered the lobster with mixed vegetables, for dessert, cheesecake and coffee. The food lacked flavor, very bland. The cheesecake tasted odd, maybe freezer burned. The bathroom doors will not close either. Service was slow. Lots of open tables. Do not waste your $$$. Extremely disappointed

J
Jim Cleveland

The food was great, service was perfect, and I really liked the atmosphere. But, if a restaurant adds 20% on to the bill, that’s a scam. I decide how much I want to tip and when I tip. If it’s obligatory, it is NOT a tip and should be included in the price. This is my first and last time at Rick’s.
