This coffee and ube place is a Union City Filipino special — none that can ever be replaced. I remember this being Hippies Brew (the Black owned business) before they closed down, but I’m actually glad the owners who operate Macs by Icky actually decided to lease this property and put it to good use — doing event pop-ups, while continuing operations at their very home store. It’s also very conveniently located right by Toppings Too, so there is actually quite a bit of space to find parking should you find yourself craving a bit of ube and a bit of kick of coffee. I ordered an ube latte — in a large, and it did NOT disappoint, y’all. When I tell you there were more hints of ube syrup than there were in all of everything else, alongside the espresso shots, it tasted like it was destined for success. The hospitality at Macs by Icky was very open, welcoming, and they even gave you suggestions for drinks if you were walking in, being completely clueless for the very first time.

A real love letter to local culture with a beautifully modern twist! Bustling on a Sunday afternoon but still provided fast and excellent service. Make sure to stop here if you need a pick-me-up :)

Tried Macs by Icky for the first time. Went on a late morning on a Thursday. It wasn’t busy when we got there, but after ordering there was a small line. The service was great, was greeted with a smile, it was our first visit and the young lady that served us was helpful and patient. 👍 The gentleman that was working was also very nice, as I asked several questions 😊 We dined in, the wait time for the food was reasonable. I had the corned beef hash sandwich, a flavored lemonade and an ube crinkle. All was delicious 😋 Will go back to try different things as well as the same things 😊

Super yummy and great prices! We had the tocino pandesal and bacon, egg, and cheese ube pandesal - both yummy. The ube soft serve was the icy kind which we liked and tasted very much like ube! The calamansi lemonade was refreshing and ube latte was also good (could’ve tasted a little more like ube)!

The best desserts place in town!! Located in the heart of Union City @ Smith St.beside Filipino Restaurant “toppings” This shop is at the center of the building/Plaza and easily located at the intersection of the park. Ambience feels so relax, casual and it feels like home with more of a “purple”/pinoy vibes inside. The place is clean, organize and well maintained. Customer service is Top Notch! The husband and Wife owner/partner will guide you through their menu (food/snacks/drinks) There’s a selection/varieties of items to choose from.My suggestion is- try 2-3 items at once so you can savor the taste.👏👏👏 I loved the Overloaded Ube Halo halo mixed with ube cake pieces, Ube muddy cereal mix, home made ube halaya (ube jam) and Ube soft served on top. I just wished that they have more “UBE halaya/Ube Jam not just a smear on the cup, other than that it is one of my faves.💜💜💜 I also tried their fruity pebble cereal macarons-this one has the perfect quality and taste of macarons so please try their macaron,This Is what they’re known for eversince (Flavors can change ) ✅✅✅✅ Then for their Mac Nut Coffee/Latte with Ube soft top-This one hits the spot🔥🔥🔥 A must have A must try I will definitely will be back soon and try their other menu. Another TIP-✅check their Instagram for updates/store hours and MENU ✅Make sure to register your phone number for REWARD Points. ✅Bring your appetite with you coz you will be blown away😂😍 ✅Don’t forget to take a photo and share with your family and friends. Music is a little loud but understandable due to opening day 👍. OG Halo Halo was really good, just wish they would have layered the ingredients a after a scoop of shaved ice since the the plastic spoons aren't string enough to mix. Minty milky child like, had a real mint flavor. Son killed the smashed lemonade. Good new addition to union city

It’s my first time going to a Filipino cafe that looks aesthetically pleasing. They really serve delicious Halo Halo. I didn’t get the original one since I always have it whenever I eat it, which is why I decided to get the Ube only version of it. I also like how big the Pan De Sal is since the ones I see from bakeries are usually small. Looking forward to trying other Filipino treats!

This place was shown to me by my mom an I said "THAT LOOKS GOOD!" . We went and it did not disappoint. Service: GOOD Food: SARAP (Delicious) I had a choco taco an it was good and the lemonade was HUGE I have put some pictures down below. (Ps: if you read this whole thing 👍)

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mac’s by Icky is an absolute gem! Their drinks are fantastic, and the Ube is simply divine. Every baked good I've tried has been amazing. The customer service is top-notch with a personal touch you won't find at places like Starbucks or Philz. Despite being always packed, they get orders out quickly without compromising on quality. I love coming here to lounge, prop up my laptop, and get some work done while enjoying their delicious offerings. The ambiance is super chill, music is on point and GREAT and again, team members here are so awesome! I'll be coming back again and again! Highly recommended!

The coffee was hot, the music was cool and it was an overall neat experience. I had a butter coffee which is like a croissant, cooked in a waffle maker. That makes it buttery and light on the inside and wonderfully caramelized on the outside. I was glad I stopped in.

Hip new place, had the corned beef pan de sal, and that was hella good. Also really enjoyed their "boneless" cookie. Definitely check them out. Highly recommend the corned beef pan de sal. Had eaten it before taking a picture of it.

This is my go-to place when I’m waiting for someone. The Ham and Cheese pandesal is ridiculously good and I look forward to it every other week when I visit. I haven’t tried much else here but I’m sure it’s awesome. My only complaint is that it’s just a tad too loud, but otherwise great. Update: I tried the chocolate and vanilla soft serve and it’s incredible. It’s arguably better than that Livermore place people line up for.

The absolute best sopas IMHO. We drive 30 miles on Sundays for it. Corned beed Pandesal is a classic. And their desserts. Oh come on!! Awesome place, great vibe.

Clean space, many seating area indoor and outdoor. Line was out the door upon arrival but moved fast! Ordered the OG halo halo, matcha strawberry, and Sunday Sopas. Halo halo isn’t too sweet . Lots of ube, not much fruits and beans to mix at the bottom. Matcha is average. Strawberry had a stronger taste. Tasted more like strawberry milk. Sopas is good. Flavor is perfect. Noodles were mushy at the bottom. Best to keep noodles separate until time of serving.

It’s nice to see a small business coffee shop take over the old Paddies location—a spot I was a big fan of, especially as someone from the Une. I wasn’t too fond of Hippies Brew before them, and the customer service there left a lot to be desired. That said, one thing I’ve noticed here—and at places like HB, Boba spots, Starbucks, Peet’s, etc.—is that when you ask for light ice, you don’t always get it. A lot of the time, baristas will still put in regular ice, assuming customers won’t notice. It’s quicker for them and saves on product cost. I know this because I worked at Peet’s for two years. I’ve done it myself, although I usually honored customer requests. There’s a clear difference in weight and volume between light and regular ice, and it’s easy to tell when it’s not right. I guess next time I’ll just say “no ice” to avoid the issue altogether.

Usually it’s great service but , today I was completely ignored . Upon walking in the employee clearly saw me standing there. She seemed a little busy so I waited. But after that, she was just pretending I wasn’t there. There was zero acknowledgement when I’m just trying to pick up my order. It was 1 drink so I knew for sure it was ready. for about 15 minutes they were just turning their heads , and washing dishes. I was waiting for an opportunity to talk but she kept turning her back to me. And looking around. It was very rude. I gave her the benefit of the doubt at first but I literally made eye contact with her and clearly showed I was trying to get her attention.I finally said excuse me and she gave me a forced smile and just came out with the drink. It had been sitting, there was literally no customers and no line. It’s not nice to just ignore a customer.

You would think for how much of a snob the employees acted their drinks would at least be good... Came here today to a cashier with his back turned against the register (with his hair in full view which, by the way, could use a hat or net if he happens to be handling food), gave grace and waited for him to turn around. No greetings nor pleasantries, waited for me to say what I wanted to order, so I did. I also said I wanted oat milk for my latte to which he responded with the sassiest "What?", maybe if the music in-store was not so loud he would hear me. He then asked for my name and then I paid. By this time, I already wanted to leave. I had my eye on the receiving area where the drinks would be handed. The barista, seeing as I am looking, flicked his pointing finger, signaling that my coffee is done-did not call my name (which defeats the purpose of the cashier asking for my name in the first place). This was not a major issue as I am the only customer there at the time, but this shows little to no communication between two employees with varying roles, and overall, contributed to the rude and unwelcoming ambiance that the cashier inaugurated. As the young people would say, the latte was "mid" at best. The place was empty for good reason. Altogether, I would not recommend. There are better places with better people to support.
