Thai Kitchen Union City Reviews
One of my husband's and my favorite Thai Restaurants. The food is really good. I love their praram chicken, yellow chicken curry, chicken fried rice and their coconut ice cream with sticky rice. Yum!!!
Usually no wait for seating, and the dishes are really good. I particularly like the Mushrooms Galore. Note that you will need to ask for rice specifically if you want it as it's not included with many of the dishes that you think it would be (like the curry dishes).
Surprised by the great quality of food, service and choices. Awesome taste and always ready on time. This is our go to place for Thai food. Pineapple fried rice and pad thai are our favorites. Curries are super tasty.
Just had my dinner here the second time around, and... Their Cashew nut Chicken w/ steamed rice & Thai iced tea is DeeLicious! The service is verY good and the food there is sooo yummy even the second time around! Me & my friend ordered the same thing. 😂 (My faVorIte). 😍❤ Will go there again soon. Highly recommended#! 😁👌
Cucumber salad is excellent. Tom kha soup is excellent. Fried rice is good but I asked for extra spicy and its not but just put tabasco Scorpion sauce on and hits the spot.
This review is a long time coming. I always order the spicy beef salad (yum nua) you can choose the spicy level. It is so good, and it’s been CONSISTENT! Tried other places and it’s never the same. I love how much dressing they put, it’s so good with a side of steamed rice! I’m here way to often and don’t even regret it!
I had my lunch here today with my son, it was our first time to visit this restaurant, and i was very much satisfied, the place is so clean and tidy. The lady server was so nice and friendly. Service was so fast that we didn’t have to wait that long for our food to be served. The food was very good, we loved it. I highly recommend this place for ppl who love Thai food. Will definitely come visit this place again. I give it a 5 stars. A bunch of thanks to the lady who serves us. You are very patient and nice.
This place is great. I was brought here by a Thai friend previously and every dish is wonderful. The place is owned by a nice lady and her son was our server tonight. It is very clean and the menus are very complete. The soups (I have had the Tom Kha and Tom Yum) are fantastic. But there are just so many other things to choose from. They have many vegetarian options too.
My favorite Thai spot. I've been coming here for years and never disappointed with the food. I love the chicken satay and Beef salad. Service is always good since I've never seen more than 3 customers dining in. Mostly take out and doordash orders.
Cannot rave enough about the Tom Kha; I've never had it so perfectly balanced. The Crying Tiger was also superb (the sauce especially). Pad Thai and See-Ew were both also tasty (bonus points for our picky eater having no complaints). Update: I've now dined in as well as taken out. Still perfect Tom Kha. The Pad Thai and yellow curry are also excellent.
I love their food! Their service, prices and location is awesome. I work in the other plaza so this was convenient for me. Whenever I’m craving something savory or spicy I know I can count on a Thai Kitchen to satisfy those cravings. Their portions also are very gracious and affordable.
This place was such a great find!!! The lady serving everyone was so sweet and friendly and the food tasted wonderful! We were early for our nearby doctor's appointment and stopped at this place on a whim and it was worth it. Great hidden gem and I'd love to go back!!
Ordered take out after a long day of hiking. Service was awesome and very polite. Food was outstanding 👌. Love the combination fried rice!! 😋 😋😋
The food is delicious 😋 the decor is beautiful 😍 the service was good 👍🏽 I shred the beef salad with my friend and then I had chicken curry with rice, of course . The salad was sweet and refreshing, fresh lettuce and nice sized cucumbers and tomatoes. The beef was perfect. I didn’t get a picture of the curry but it was great. The Thai tea is also perfect, not too strong or sweet. I’m excited to try new things next time. It was a lunch menu, and the portions were large, I had leftovers.
Decoration is Thai traditional One of my favorite Thai restaurants to go to! This place has incredibly reasonable prices and food quality is really. Food portions are really big and they taste really good. The place is really nice but dim here, but doesn’t really change the fact that this restaurant is good for eating with Thai traditions decoration. Staff are very friendly when they use simple greetings to say hi to customers. Definitely will come back for more!
Delicious food and fast service. We tried Thai fried rice, green chicken curry, chicken satay, and Thai tea.
Super great value with large portions and low prices. We were able to make a reservation for 12 people which was easily able to be accommodated. The decor is not quite the most modern but the staff is friendly and food tastes great. All of the dishes we had tasted great and no complaints with lots of veggie options.
Quante restaurant with amazing Thai food. Clean and friendly service. Tom Kai soup with chicken. Rice Gah Bong (Thai tempura) Drinks Very flavorful. Cost about $36
Excellent food. Wonderful server. We had take out for 16 people and it was all delicious! Mar. 2022: A local friend and I enjoyed delicious take out that was ready before we arrived. Vegetarian spring rolls, soup and curry chicken.

Thai Kitchen has been around for decades - I remember eating here often when I was a child! We decided to host a private party here - rented out the entire venue - and we are SO glad we chose Thai Kitchen! We coordinated the event & menu with Apple; she was so easy to work with! Very laid back / easy going & accommodating. Her son Bach essentially took care of the buffet line & dining room by himself during the entire event and provided impeccable service! He kept the buffet trays well stocked & continually went around the room serving beverages & clearing dishes. They clearly know how to host a private buffet party- everything was set up beautifully, the evening went so smoothly, and guests kept raving about how much they loved the venue, food, & service. We were so impressed. We had some people who were allergic to fish & could not eat fish sauce, and they were able to accommodate the allergies and make dishes without fish sauce. On an ordinary night, they have great service, nice ambiance (It's not super fancy or modern - more traditional thai decor on brick walls, white table linens with glass topped dining tables, reminiscent of 90s, but well maintained & nostalgic to me), & yummy food at a reasonable price. Portions are good for a big individual meal (ie, we ordered at least 1 dish per person, and opted to order a few additional dishes to try). Our favorite dishes here are: yellow chicken curry, garlic fish, mango salad fish, pineapple fried rice, beef salad.
One of the best Thai food spots in the Bay Area—especially for vegetarians! I absolutely loved the spicy mushroom fried rice, drunken noodles, and the Tom Yum soup—each dish was packed with authentic flavor and perfectly balanced spice. The highlight of the meal, though, was the dessert: fried bananas with ice cream. Simply outstanding. I would highly recommend this place to all my family and friends. On top of the amazing food, the staff was incredibly warm and attentive—easily a 10/10 experience all around.
The oldest thai restaurant in Union City (and probably one of the longest standing in the tri city area) for a reason. Great food with great staff/owners who have worked here for multiple decades.
We went here and had the most amazing tom kha soup. Like in my lifetime I've eaten a lot of Thai Tom kha soups, but this one tops all of them. We are planning to come back a million more times for their soup. It had the sweet, it had the sour, it was the perfect ratio for everything. I'm still reminiscing about it. We also had other dishes and they were great, packed with a lot of flavors except the cucumber salad which was bland and not so exciting. This is our new favorite Thai restaurant!!!
Been to this place a few times. The serving portions are generous, quality of food is good, and seems like a family run place.

I lived in Thailand for over 20 years and consider myself pretty knowledgeable about Thai and Lao food. I have been a customer at Thai Kitchen for many years and have never had a bad meal there. The ambivalence is not the best but I don't go there for romantic meals, just good food at a fair price
I am a little biased, my wife is the Chef, So I will talk about the atmosphere instead of the food, which is also Great. Feel like your family when you come in. Not fancy or prentencious but simple good food for the whole family. You will be kindly greeted, if you wish to dine in or choose to take it to Go.... Plenty of medium party's where friends and families get together, or quiet dinner for 2 or even a quick snack and a beer after work. Some days are super busy and some days are not so much, Fridays & weekends are usually busy, so be prepared if you plan to visit on these days.
Nice open restaurant located in a plaza with plenty of free parking . The Food and service was great , they have a good variety of food options. But what was something different was the Spicy Salmon, I haven't had this at any other Thai restaurants . Will come back to try other item on their menu.
Good Thai food. However, they could have a dedicated vegetarian menu with increased choices (this is one thing I miss about My Thai which gas closed). Not crowded for a Friday evening. Good location and parking. Reasonable prices.
Food was decent overall. I ordered the tom yum expecting a classic, flavorful soup, but it didn’t quite meet expectations in terms of taste. I ended up switching to the tom kha, which was better and more enjoyable. Portions were reasonable and the overall experience was fine. Not outstanding, but a decent place if you’re in the area.
Pad Thai was pretty good. Chicken Satay was delicious. The yellow could have reduced & maybe they forgot the rice but typically Jasmine rice is served with R.Y.G curry 🍛. None the less, a very tasty dinner, & lunch, large portions.
Dropped by on the weekend. I've been coming here for years. Food has been good and constantly that way. Place has plenty of parking too. Overall a gem in Union City.
The food was ok first time going there and definitely trying a second time to see if it changes my mind to great. all restaurants have there bad days so I’m giving it a second chance server was nice and friendly and brought air water and drinks right away .
My waitress was polite. Though she asked ifni wanted an option on my rice as if it was free, but come to find it is 3.00 extra dollars. My server was amazing. The food was decent. Great flavor, but a tad too much of it. The curry Lamb had a strong sage or ginger taste. The seafood mix was great. The food could have been more soft texture. The jasmine tea was just right in heat and had the strong bitter taste.
Sat Nov 4 2023 7 p.m. good courteous service tasty crispy egg rolls sweet sauce with a kick. excellent brown rice mushroom filled tom yum 🍲 Thai tea tasty. vanilla ice cream and sticky rice dessert hit the spot. pra - rarm chicken brown rice had nice crisp edges
I loved this place. Very quite and quick serving. Food were fresh although the brown rice seemed needed a bit more cooked. Red chili curry was really good.

First time ordering Pra-Ram vegetables, it was simple but yummy. A delight for vegetarians. Roti could be crispier.
Veggies and tofus are chopped twice as big as I’d like . They do come with rice
I wanted to like this place more. I've ordered from them 3 times now and I always feel like it just missed the mark of being great. Nothing I've tried is terrible, but nothing has been super good or really wow'ed me. The best thing I have had so far is the yellow curry and it doesn't have enough vegetables for my liking but that could be a plus for some. I've also had the crying tiger, angel wings, fried veggie rolls, the thai style tempura (can't remember the name), the pineapple fried rice and the mango and sticky rice. I also think it's a bit expensive for what you get but I understand that the bay is expensive so it's not a big deal.
Food was a bit bland. The “wild curry” was watery, unlike any curry I’ve ever had. The whole fried fish was insufficiently fried, leaving a chewy skin and bland meat. However, the sauce that came with the fish was excellent and the service and ambience were also very nice. Not crowded at all.
This is a cute mom & pop type spot. The atmosphere was neutral. The papaya salad was delicious. The fried rice was okay. It seemed that only parts of my fried rice was seasoned. Some bites were flavorful and others were bland. Overall, it was okay.

We leave close by, and always eat here for almost 10 years now. Since with COVID the take out food was very disappointing: the Pad Thai was just noddles with 2 shrimps and some peanuts, the mango sticky rice had a very hard rice that couldn’t be cut with a spoon, probably old and dry. The Tom Yum soup, yellow curry, and Satay chicken still great. We’ll wait until they open for dine in before eating there, and order from the next door one to be on the safe side.
We ordered a veg Tom kha soup. It’s had a layer of oil on it. Coconut milk looked grainy and was about too thick for a soup. Kids and I didn’t like it. It’s also expensive, $18 for a medium sized bowl.
I Dont know why?people gave them a 4 star review but there are more resturants to go to. So many places to eat but i was not impressed. The man that treated us that night was polite but if u pay over 20 dollars a plate thinking u get 4 stars ?! No way! I think im going to be a food blogger.. the food wasnt great , small portions , the tea wasnt hot it was watered down and my eye witness saw the waiter taking the left over tea from another table. Was it because we came 2hrs before closing? I had to ask for water.? , cutomer service and the cook can make and break a restaurant would i go back and eat there agian ..thats a Big Fat No! Spend my Hard Earn Money Somewhere ELSE! Oh if u want to know what i spent it was $80... the guy was like ahh..big portion it came out it was a small bowl .. i felt i got rob..and i got lied to. and this was a party of 4.
My family and I have ordered here in the past and yesterday’s meal was NOTHING like I had experienced before. The green curry was watered down (tasted like unfiltered tap water), the garlic shrimp count was only 8 (!!!), and the flat noodles with beef had TWO small pieces of meat in it. My husband even felt queasy the whole night. It must have been teenagers running the place on 1/19/20 bc the service was very unprofessional. Very disappointed and I hope they get better cook(s) in the kitchen. Avoid this place if you can.... not worth my $60!
The food at this restaurant is average. Still I was a regular customer for past 5-6 years as it is close to my house. I order on phone every two weeks and pick up on time. But this time they told me that they don't trust me to pick up so I need to prepay my order. The owner is arrogant and told me she doesn't trust people. I never trust people with my food who don't trust others.
