Tucked away in the historic heart of Valencia near the Mercado Central, this rustic, time-honored bar offers a rare escape from the typical tourist trail into a world of genuine Spanish soul. Eschewing modern trends for weathered wooden tables and a traditional atmosphere, the shop is run by seasoned Spanish gentlemen who provide warm, old-school service and take orders entirely from memory. The menu focuses on honest, market-fresh tapas that prioritize authentic flavor over flashy presentation, making it the kind of local secret that Valencians themselves recommend. We had the patata bravas, grilled squid and the shellfish salad, each of them wonderful!
Probably the best 'tapas' bar in the centre of the city! Always busy with tourists and locals, serving tapas ('raciones' really) of fried fish, octopus, squid, prawns, cockles, peppers, salads and all the other typical Spanish dishes. Sit at the bar for the best atmosphere. Ask for a 'media' (half) portion if not hungry or you want to try more things.
I have rated this place based on how genuine it felt. For the best experience, just sit at the countertop right next to the food. Restaurant is tourist friendly with menu cards in English, but has enough local foot traffic to convey authenticity. Very welcoming atmosphere. Excellent location by the Mercat Market. The shop can be crowded during lunch. Try this place if you are at the vicinity!
It's a place that not many tourists know about, but it's a truly authentic Spanish bar right in the city center, close to the Mercado Central and La Lonja de la Seda. It's a rustic, traditional spot that has been around for many years, don't expect anything fancy or modern here, but rather the charm of an old local bar full of history and character. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd hope for in a typical Spanish bar: simple wooden tables, both indoor and outdoor seating, and locals enjoying their tapas and drinks. The staff are elderly Spanish gentlemen who take orders from memory, give great recommendations, and treat you with genuine warmth. The food is very good, traditional tapas just like you'd find anywhere in Spain, fresh and full of flavor. It's the kind of place that locals themselves would recommend, far from the touristy restaurants that try too hard to impress. Here, everything feels real and authentic. If you want to experience true Spanish flavors and atmosphere in the historic center of Valencia, this is definitely a place worth visiting.
Located in a vibrant street in the old town near mercat central this place offers a variety of items to suit every taste and budget. To start off i had an orange juice, fried fish tapas, the anchogies with vinegar tapas, and the bread with tomatoe The juice was fresh and tasted good The fried fish were crispy and tates great not too salty or oily. The anchovies were absolutely mouthwatering they were jot salty and the contrast with the vinegar so simple yet tasty Tapas arr of fair price for quality but they offer sandwiches and main dishes rhat are quite affordabletheir wine and drinks are also pretty cheap for thei location. Staff are friendly
If you're looking for an authentic Spanish experience, this place is a must-visit! The food was absolutely delicious—calamari, pimientos de padrón, and patatas bravas were all perfectly prepared. The white wine from Valencia was a delightful pairing. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, adding to the great atmosphere. Best spot for a Saturday lunch in the sun! Highly recommend! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Great location, great food, friendly staff. We got artichokes, garlic shrimps, mixed plate with fried squid and croquettes, bread with tomatoes and some olives. Everything was good! You can also order at the counter and pick what looks best - you’ll probably have trouble deciding since everything looks amazing. Prepare for some wait time to sit down, it’s very busy but in a charming kind of way, the atmosphere is great. The food comes fast once you have a seat. The beer was also tasty and refreshing. It’s a bit pricey but I would definitely recommend visiting!
It is always crowded and exuberant. All dishes are fresh. If you couldn't find suitable tapas bar in the mercado, this bar would the best choice. In the evening, you may stand a line to occupy a table. There are so many residents to enjoy their evening. I recommend a small tipping for the waiters.
I loved loved loved eating here! I was dining alone and sat at the bar. The staff was friendly, funny, and helpful. I got the whole fried fish and pulpo and olives and a couple of beers and left with a full belly and happy heart. I only wish the plates were a little smaller so I could have tried more things.
We had a small selection of their fish tapas and vegetable dishes and the food was tremendous. The staff were also very friendly.

Servicio eficiente. ✅ 2. Buena comida a buen precio.✅ 3.
No tomamos vino.
This place always seemed the most crowded. I guess this is a local restaurant. You can see the menu if you ask them to bring it, and the most of the time they just order it at the bar. The fried shrimp was delicious, but the price is slightly high(9euros). So it would be good to stop by at least once as it is a local restaurant.
Not a super classy one but a pop-up tapas bar just across Mercat Central Valencia. Ideal for a quick bite. Service is fast, prices are average maybe a little more than ordinary tapas places cos' that is what you pay for when you eat pure sea food. Fully fried shrimps and fish were delicious.

Very nice traditional tapas in a very good location outside the Central Market. Very reasonable but very popular you will need to queue at busy times but worth the wait.
They microwave their pre-cooked food. Dont go here and if you do. Do not eat their calamares. Nice area tough and the wine was okay.

Food was so so nothing to shout about. Service was a little slow and felt forgotten but to be fair to the waiters it was very busy so that had alot on their plate. Tables and chairs very crammed outside together. If you are big eaters wouldn't recommend, as portion sizes are small and it would be an expensive meal to properly fill up.
Situ in lovely area, very busy but worth waiting for food. Was unlucky with the waiter who was rude, forgot order and was unable to explain menu.
