Mitchell's Valley Stream Reviews
Great service, food and atmosphere. Overall great place!!!
Heads up, I'm going into detail here. Mitchell's Diner Restaurant is honestly the best restaurant I been in ever since Covid happened. This place is easily missable while driving by, it's directly across the street from from a church and a wine store. Now as far as parking you have street parking and a free parking lot half a block away across the street. Now inside Mitchell's Diner, it's a very comfortable and cozy atmosphere, you can bring friends or dates here easily. If you want to have a meeting to accommodate a small group they have a location inside along the wall where one can host such event. The restaurant itself can hold up to around 100-140 people here. Now let's discuss the main portion. The food and prices. The prices are quite reasonable you have items ranging from $10- $30 for both breakfast and dinner. Lunch menu ranges from $14-$23 depending on what you get of course. I tried the lunch menu Homemade Chicken burger that comes with Chipotle Mayo, Lettuce & Tomato and Sweet Potato French fries, this meal comes in with different varieties of soups. I picked Manhattan clam chowder. I'm not going to sugar coat it. The burger was massive I'm talking tower wise, I had to try and compress it, keyword is try and they just piled on the sweet potatoes French fries on the plate, look like it was gonna fall off. The soup came in a medium sized bowl and yes it was delicious. I'm not gonna lie, I struggled with all the food that came with my meal. I wasn't prepared for this at all, I don't eat like bird or anything. I was only able to finish maybe half of it. They give you so much and it's delicious. Oh and the fried fish sandwich lunch special. I never had fish that good, not even my own mom can make it that well and she's from the south. The service was impeccable, I can not say a single bad thing about the service and treatment here, even if you ask 100 questions, everyone is very polite, patient and courteous. What I paid was $16.50 and I ate like a King. Im leaving here with a large take home bag. Now, if your wondering when the bill comes they ask for a tip or tip is included in the bill? The answer is NO, NO tip is included in the bill. The payment they take is cash, debit, credit, Apple pay, and cash app. Too long didn't read. Great restaurant, 5* , bring friends, dates, or meetings, street parking or free parking lot, good reasonable prices and large variety on menu.
Today I met with friends at Mitchell’s for lunch . Our waitress , Kathy is always eager to please us in every way possible. A smile like Kathy’s alone makes a visit to Mitchell’s worthwhile. The owner, Dimitri, Is always very helpful and greets his customers with a warm smile! I highly recommend Mitchell’s for breakfast, lunch or dinner and know that you will always be pleased. In every way. Please don’t hesitate to visit Mitchell’s in the near future you will not regret it.! Paulina from north Woodmere New York
Bro. This place? Bro. Not only was the food incredible (and filling), after we ordered, they baked a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies and just gave everyone a free cookie. It might seem small, but I can't even express how happy it made us. We will be back more often than we probably should be.
Nice place good food. Keep coming back. This is my 4th time here. Love the food, atmosphere and the owner. Recommended highly.
Mitchell’s is such a great place to eat! They have the best soup and such a great menu! 💕💕🌈🌈and the entire staff is soo nice. Cheers has nothing on this place!
I've been to this place twice I plan on making it my regular spot for pancakes they are so good here. Fluffy and crunchy I don't know how they do it. The second time I went my server got Into an argument with another server and my food took forever to come out but hey these things happen. Will be returning for the pancakes
Bank for your buck. The portions are huge and food is fantastic. Great local spot for families and for date nights right in the heart of it all. Definitely recommend to locals in the area
Whenever we go there, we always like to be served by Bladimir; he's an excellent waiter. We spent Thanksgiving there, and he made our evening wonderful. His customer service is top-notch, and he's so charismatic and friendly. Plus, the food is spectacular. The place is also very family-friendly and welcoming.
We had an amazing experience here. The food is always in point and our server Alanzo was super! He was very attentive and goes up and beyond to meet the customers needs. Will come back again.
Special thank you to our waiter, Alfonso and the staff at Mitchell's. Living over thirty+years and now I visit this diner with one of my daughters. The Deluxe pancakes dish was very ,very good and the coffee tasted like coffee with no additional aftertaste! My daughter had the Deluxe waffles which she enjoyed. Now I need to bring my wife next, the ultimate critic! I will definitely be back to dine at Mitchell's.
Nice place. Looks all brand new, food tasted great. I was actually relieved to see a not-so-unlimited menu, made choosing what to eat a bit easier. Finally a place that will cook my home fries well-done, crispy on both sides for real. Was perfect.
My father and I come in here all the time. We have never been disappointed. I had the salmon burger tonight and it was delicious. Just ground salmon and spices. No fillers! Can’t do better than that. Also, the Greek salad was very fresh. Would recommend them to anyone.
I have been a regular customer at Mitchell's for the past 15 years. It is family friendly with a warm and welcoming vibe. I live in Long Beach and drive past other diners on my way to Mitchell's in Valley Stream. The food is always fresh and the owners, Demetri and Vickie, make it a point to check in with all seated customers to make sure they are happy with their meal, and if they would like anything else. From time to time, Demetri and Vickie also offer free desserts to each table. This wonderful personal touch is not always associated with diners. To me it demonstrates a willingness to go above and beyond for their customers, giving them a chance to express satisfaction or, if need be, address any changes the customer may prefer. It's this type of concern , as well as the food served, that has kept me a loyal customer for 15 years. They truly place the needs of their customers first. I can attest to that...
Mitchel’s Diner is definitely one of those spots that makes you feel right at home. The service was excellent — friendly, quick, and genuinely attentive without being overbearing. You can tell the staff takes pride in what they do. And let’s talk about the food — everything came out fresh and hot, but the real standout was the chicken francaise. Absolutely amazing! Perfect flavor, great texture, and something you’ll definitely come back for. Highly recommend stopping by Mitchel’s Diner if you’re looking for great food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere.
We are regulars here for a good reason. The food is always fresh and delicious. We really enjoyed the new atmosphere due to the beautiful new renovations. My favorite is the Salmon. It is so good! The seafood bisque is amazing! I am also a fan of the East End Salad. One of the better places in Valley Stream for sure!
Food was excellent. It has a modern diner/restaurant look, lighting not too bright for coziness feel. The place is very clean American diner with fresh and clean food. Their eggs benedict and omelettes are excellent. As well as the sea bass, French onion soups and salads! The waitresa was professional yet friendy and had extensive knowledge of the flavors of foods on the menu. Helped us get exactly what we wanted and offered great suggestions as to what we would enjoy. Definitely a place to conf back to!
Tried this place after a few years. It’s been completely renovated. Looks great, like a diner. We came in for breakfast on a Sunday morning and got a table right away. Food was good, service was a little slow. Prices were a little steep for breakfast. Spent about $80 for 2 adults and gratuity was automatically charged at 16%. Overall a good experience.
“The Sundae Saves the Day (Barely)” Mitchell’s Diner is like that friend who’s incredibly talented but can’t show up on time to save their life. The food? Absolutely stellar. I’m talking comfort food that hugs your soul. And those sundaes? Chef’s kiss. I don’t know if they’re using some kind of ice cream wizardry or if the angels themselves are working the soft-serve machine, but those sundaes could probably broker world peace if given the chance. But then there’s the service. Our waiter had the urgency of a sloth on sedatives. I ordered my meal with such hope and optimism—I was a different person by the time it arrived. My phone died. I read the entire laminated menu. Twice. I considered learning a new language. When I finally flagged someone down for a refill, they looked at me like I’d asked them to donate a kidney. The sundae at the end almost made me forget the whole ordeal. Almost. Three stars because the food is legitimately great, but Mitchell’s really needs to remember that “diner” implies you might want to actually… dine… sometime this century. Would I go back? Probably, but I’m bringing a book. And snacks. And low expectations for human interaction.
Bland bland bland. Ordered the salmon burger that came with a salad and tzatziki. Paid extra for crispy onions. Onions were not crispy like I expected, it was just caramelized onions and some had a normal onion crunch from not being fully caramelized, but it wasn't breaded or anything, or prepared in any way that would indicate crispy. Salmon burger was plain and ultra bland, didn't seem like it was cooked with love, passion, or even any type of house recipe. The “tzatziki” was more akin to a bland sour cream, most lacking “tzatziki” I've ever had so that wasn't going to add any flavor either. Somehow the feta for the salad was also lackluster, and the dressing was what seemed to be tiny pieces of tomatoes and something else in too much oil and vinegar. When I simply tasted the “dressing” on the tip of my fork it sent a shock wave through my head to my brain. Never experienced that before maybe there was too much undiluted vinegar Idk. Salad was iffy some of the lettuce was browning. Tried one olive and spit it out, possibly going sour. And I had just had a nice fresh greek salad earlier today so the contrast was obvious. Bun for burger was lackluster like something you get at school and eventually got soggy for being in same container w/ salad. The bun was probably already too soft to withstand that close proximity anyway. Gave it two stars instead of one b/c overall seemed the ingredients were at least not super old and the piece of brownie I had was okay. Maybe some of their other more straightforward items are okay but I won't be back to find out. Once I can tell a place is not cooking with passion and finesse I'm out. This is the lowest review I've ever written on here and am usually giving five stars but that's how disappointed I am, especially after reading the great reviews. Couldn't even finish all the food and felt like my money went to waste.
I’ve been to this establishment for many years, but I was disappointed in Mitchell’s today. I ordered a Chicken Noodle soup because I was feeling under the weather, and when I received my soup, I found a steel wool pad in my soup! Seeing that in my soup just ruined my appetite completely. Absolutely unacceptable. I expected better from this restaurant.
