Il Passatore Varese Reviews
Vintage restaurant, the waiter was very helpful with my dog, he brought water first to him and then to us 🥹, very good dishes, fresh fish, friendly and helpful owner and waiter, the chef came to the table for my allergy, personally bringing the dish, very satisfied, I recommend everyone to go there
A restaurant of Sardinian origins that offers a wealth of authentic cuisine and slow food. The prices are quite high, but the quality is evident on the plate. As maestro Iginio Massare says, "There's a difference between the words 'expensive' and 'expensive.'" As you can see from the photos, the place is classy and well-kept. The service is impeccable, and I wholeheartedly recommend the tiramisu; it has that something extra that captivates the palate.
Amazing 7 courses with different fish from carpaccio to squid to sea bass and turbot. The almond dessert with panna ice cream was.lush. Fantastically paired with white wine.
I have been there recently for a graduation celebration. The service was impeccable, the tasty food was served in copious portions and the wine of excellent standing. They accommodated us with all small requests we might have, all this while being polite and discret at the same time. I would highly recommend.
A restaurant in a stunning villa, with quality food. Fresh fish and wines/Proseccos pair well with the food. Gesuino and the waiters are very friendly and welcoming, creating a very pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommended, although the prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. Top!
Delicious
Beautiful place , very tasty risotto and nice staff. The place - Abita hard to get to the restaurant but once you get there it's Beautiful outside and very romantic the inside decor is a bit outdated but have something to it. The food- we started with see food risotto, that was very tasty!! I really recommend to try it. The second course was good , not to special but decent and well made. The service was very friendly and good , the price is on the more expensive side but worth the money
MUST !! ♥️
Lovely terrace in warm, sunny weather, shaded by trees. They also have suitable seating in cooler, sunny weather. So, this restaurant is perfect for any weather. The menu is entirely Italian. The house grilled mixed fish is a real treat. The service is very friendly and speaks a little English, which is more than enough.
Amazing delicious authentic Italian food, family style and friendly waiters chef and beautiful wine selection! I'd stop by Varese just to eat lunch here again! 5*
the same excellent and reliable kitchen of the former Al Passatore is now located in the beautiful (and hence better) ambiance of the Hermitage. to be honest I was hoping they also would have used the move and the new fancier environment to innovate the menu. No revolution, just innovation... But that is my personal opinion. what they make is excellent with good products and honest craft manship
We've been to this restaurant before, but Sunday was and will be the last time! I'll start with the seafood spaghetti dish, which was boiled spaghetti with oil, parsley, mussels, and clams, and no other fish or shellfish. I'd eaten it before, and it definitely wasn't these. I reported the issue to the waiter, but there was no attempt to remedy the situation. The calamari was awful! At the next table, two parents with a toddler did everything they could, without them caring about the other guests in the dining room. Before leaving and paying, I pointed out the incorrect dish to the owner, and he was very evasive, placing the blame on the waiter and shrugging his shoulders without any attempt to remedy the situation. A few explanations would have been enough. Not to mention the handwritten bill on a piece of paper with no specifics. I left feeling very disappointed, especially since it was an important occasion.
The villa that houses the restaurant is very pleasant, and the service is fast and attentive. The oysters are excellent, and the salmon is a worthy seafood appetizer. The menu offers simple dishes and won't appeal to those who appreciate sophisticated cuisine. The bill doesn't list the dishes consumed, but rather the total cost; unusual and discouraging behavior.
€30 for a first course, dessert, and water. The first course was good but nothing special; tiramisu with hot coffee and liquid cream. The price was definitely too high for what we ate. The place is charming and has a lovely atmosphere.
It's known as a Sardinian restaurant, but the only Sardinian thing I can think of is the seadas for dessert. The atmosphere is lovely, the staff friendly. The food is really good, but the portions are little more than samples. Very few specialty dishes. All the other dishes are very common, which we usually cook at home. The prices are truly absurd for these very reasons. At the very least, they should be generous (but really, not like when we asked for a large plate to share and it barely satisfied one of us), and do something sophisticated. Perhaps even something related to Sardinian culture. At the checkout, prices are set "by feeling," meaning not in front of the customer, and above all, the details of each dish are missing from the receipt. How can you argue with that? Well, if you want to sweeten your appetite, I recommend the tiramisu. It's amazing, and very filling! Sorry. I'm a no-go.
Milanese cutlet for €20, about the size of a pork chop, with an unpleasant-tasting breading, half broken off so we had to remove it to eat the meat; tagliolini with scampi and zucchini flowers was flavorless, it felt like eating plain pasta. The fillet with green pepper was soft, but too salty. The place is old, with completely bare walls. The service is inaccurate; they forgot to bring wine while we were already eating, the dishes all arrived at different times, and the wait was long: we waited about 50 minutes for the first dish to arrive (with the place half empty). The only positive note: they immediately brought out bread and small samples of pecorino cheese (the best thing we had tonight), but when we paid we realized the cover charge was four euros per person! Absolutely not recommended.
