Matilde Bakery Via Orefici Reviews
Consiglio a tutti
I passed by and look at the bakery was tempted. So decided to have a dessert, bubbles and pizza. To my surprise the pizza was great. Kids love it. Dessert was great too. I ordered cheesecake and traditional dessert. cant remember the name but its not tiramisu. So overall i find this place were great to have a stop by. Rest and relax. Luca was great too. He served us with passionate. Price wise is bit pricy but its inner city. And in duomo… so i can handle it.
Was great and taste food. They bring their order quite fast. Highly recommended, prices not expensive as well.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review – Matilda Amazing spot right in the heart of Milan. We enjoyed one of the best pizzas we’ve ever had — perfectly baked, full of flavor, and served in a cozy outdoor area with warm heaters. Inside, the atmosphere is comforting, stylish and very welcoming. The cold cuts were exceptional, truly top-quality Italian delicacies. We came back the next morning for coffee: large cups of hot, aromatic coffee and a fresh, warm croissant that was simply delicious. What really made the experience stand out was the excellent service — friendly, fast and genuinely caring staff who made us feel at home. A real gem near the Duomo. Highly recommended !!!!
Responsive service, lovely bakery, because of road construction very noisy, but we understand that it is not your fault ;) Food and drinks were good, especially fresh orange juice! Too many tables for such a small space. Overall good place to eat quick lunch. Thank you from Latvian Formula 1 fans!
Was looking for a breakfast place before we go to the airport and we found this gem literally within the Duomo Cathedral and Duomo Metro area. Seated al fresco with the morning sun and it was gorgeous. The service from the servers were also faultless. I ordered the Ham and Cheese Omelette for €10 and it was impressive. Simple but very good. The ham was very flavourful and tasty. The cheese was stringy and the egg was cooked to perfection with 3 pcs of bread on the side. Definitely worth a try.

Wow nice place pizza is unbelievable staff are so friendly and the wine also its in a very nice location just next to the cathedral super will definitely be back
Bellissimo locale molto accogliente
We were hungry and ready to eat, just looking for a place with indoor seating in the duomo area of milan. Unfortunately we landed here. For Italy, the food was beyond mediocre. I had the tagliatelle …
We found this whilst looking around for somewhere out of the wind and this was perfect outside had a surrounding window and heaters on. We ordered two pizzas, beer and Fanta. Didn’t think the Fanta was going to be as big but ahh well. The service was good and they didn’t bother us. Would recommend for a light stop but not for a full meal as it would be expensive.
A bit disappointed. We ordered coffee at the bar and snacks to go (to save time and money), but the lady led us to the table. I ordered coffee coretto with sambuca, bartender didn’t add sambuca. Only after we mention that, he said he would bring us “real sambuca” (What does it mean? “Real sambuca”? Was he using a fake one? Anyway… after adding “real sambuca” coffee finally had the taste it should have from the very beginning. The sandwich was a bit oily inside and a bit too dry outside, I think the crust cut my lips. A bit disappointing beginning of a morning. We had a feeling, that we are fighting for the survival instead of enjoying the trip. Weird …
a cozy environment to enjoy breakfast. breakfast is filling but very bread-oriented. brioche, toasts and jams. freshly squeezed juice and coffee. delicious breakfast, not so healthy

E a malapena parlano l'italiano.
At the time of writing, this will be the 667th review of Matilde Bakery. Perhaps I shouldn't bother as "666" seems about right for the food. I should've trusted my better judgement that this was indeed a tourist trap. Whilst the service we received was fine, nor were we overcharged like others have said, but the food was just bland. We had the Salmone Pizza and the only flavour it had was salt. The salmon was also on the light side, barely any on there. We also had the seafood risotto. Other than two massive mussel shells which had tiny mussels inside, there was barely any seafood in the portion. They also insisted we have the complementary bread, even though we didn't want it "but it comes with it you have to" was the response. Would've fed it to the pigeons, but they seemed to avoid this place which says it all really.
Good pasta, but we had to wait very long after ordering, they forgot about our drinks, only one toilet (without a lock) that caused a very long line/queue. Stiff price for this total experience.
I don’t recommend this place, we ordered Aperol, waiter ask about size, small or usual, and bring 0,5 litre Aperol (like 2 portions in “not classic glass for it”), and price for 1 Aperol was 25 euros, like double price. Pizza was just ok. Door in restroom broken and you cant close it(
Honestly, save yourself some time and money and go somewhere else. The cover charge is 3 euro a person here .. But nothing about this place supports that high cover. 7 euro for one cup of house wine is also absurd. I paid less literally right next to the Duomo, and this is a few blocks away. I ordered 1 pizza, and no exaggeration, it took 40 minutes. I have never waited that long for my food since I moved here... Especially now for a pizza!!! The only great thing about going here was I now know where not to take my family and friends when they visit. Our server was nice though, I will say that.
Absolutely horrible service and food. Inattentive waiters. Barely warm soup. Overpriced. This was our worse experience in Milan .. by far. If you are hungry, and near this place, walk away fast.

Overpriced. Poor quality food. A large soft drink was 9.50 euros and flat. Don’t waste your time or your money. Staff are rude.

A tourist trap, let’s overlook the prices—very expensive—but charging €6 for a cover for two teas, then finding faded glasses and €5 for plain water that wasn’t requested is a rip-off.

!TOURIST TRAP! We went there with my girlfriend for dinner. (Since we were walking around the duomo at night there were not a lot of options) The servers were rude. They were acting badly. Some of them are not capable of speaking english, not even a little bit. The food was terrible (we believe they just took the plates out of the fridge after the order, we really believe that not exagerattion.) That was a complete regret. NEVER EVER GO THERE AGAIN (If you have chance I suggest you to dont even walk in front of that place)
Unfortunately, my experience here was disappointing. The pizza was made with low-quality ingredients and didn’t taste fresh — especially the mozzarella, which felt more like a cheap Gino substitute. The flavors were unbalanced and the dough undercooked. I’m sorry I didn’t check the reviews before coming, as I expected a much better experience.
Manager was so rude! We were charged the wrong amount and the manager was extremely disrespectful talked down to me. When confronted he asked for the receipt back to increase the price said we were charged that much cause we had been sitting there for an hr but only sat there as long as it took to have our food and drinks. Also the glasses and utensils were quite dirty didn’t seem like they were cleaned properly. Wouldn’t go here unless you wanted to be spoken to like an idiot even though he was in the wrong.
Tourist trap!! AVOID!! We ordered still water (no prices listed on the menu - RED FLAG we should have noticed earlier) and when the bill came, it was written as “Aperol Spritz €13 each.” Outrageous. We only drank bottled water, never alcohol. This is not just expensive, it’s dishonest. A bottle of water in Milan normally costs €2–4, not €13. Mislabeling it as a cocktail is a clear scam. I didn’t know it was a type of alcohol until I walked away from the restaurant and I checked google translate since I’m not familiar with alcohol names. They’re preying on this kind of tourists who don’t dare to question because they’re not familiar with the language. Luckily I took photos of our food and as you can see there’s only water on the table no cocktail. And if you compare the photo of receipt with photo of the food you can also see the description of the food doesn’t match the photos of the food. I suspect they do this on purpose so it’s difficult to show proof and they can dispute that it’s a totally different receipt from totally different meal. Will be reporting it to the Guardia di Finanza first thing tomorrow morning. Update: I submitted a dispute with my card provider (Wise) and Wise reversed the transaction amount partially to refund me the aperol spritz that I never ordered. If something like this happened to you at this restaurant, PLEASE DISPUTE IT WITH YOUR BANK! You might get your money back. Don’t let scammers get away with it!!
Avoid at all costs. Unfortunately, our experience at this café near the Duomo in Milan was deeply disappointing, and after later reading other reviews, it became clear that what happened to us is not an isolated incident but rather a recurring trend. After a long day of exploring the city, we were searching for a restaurant in the Duomo area and came across this establishment. Regrettably, we did not read the reviews beforehand ,had we done so, we certainly would have avoided it. While we were looking at the menu displayed outside, a waiter approached us and began a conversation. My friend asked whether the cannelloni contained meat, as the menu did not specify. The waiter assured her that it did, but once the dish arrived, it turned out to be only spinach and cheese, with no trace of meat whatsoever, and it lacked both quality and taste. I ordered the vegetable lasagna, which was equally disappointing, bland, flavourless, and poorly prepared. By this point, we were already dissatisfied, but matters worsened when the bill arrived. To our surprise, an additional €6 “coperto” charge had been added. We had not requested the bread that was provided (aswell was only one serving for one person) and when we questioned this charge, the waiter insisted it was a “tax.” However, the coperto is not a government tax but rather a standard service charge for tableware and bread, making his explanation misleading. Overall, the food was below standard, the service was misleading, and the additional charges felt dishonest. This establishment appears to profit from scamming unsuspecting tourists. For anyone visiting Milan, I strongly recommend avoiding this café entirely.
