Pasticceria Gemmi Viale Giuseppe Mazzini Reviews
Indescribably beautiful, totally unique, such fun and so memorable.
Top
I could write a poem to describe this place, starting from the marvelous interior, until the extremely kind and professional service. However, if I should summarise the whole in just a word, the first one coming to my mind is “amazing”. Because this is not just a restaurant as someone may usually conceive, this is an experience with capital E! The quality of the food is almost going in a second stage comparing to how your eyes will be caught by the enormous amount of decorations details, spread throughout the whole restaurant which neither seems actually a restaurant, but more a medieval villa where the time stopped at 1300. Even the cutlery seems coming from that time, massive but in the same time refined. Just to let you understand, with my wife and a friend of mine all of us living in Budapest we have already discussed to organise a flight to Pisa just to have a lunch/dinner here. All in all, if you are in Sarzana you cannot skip it, it’s a must see location!
Super
Location: 5 Food: 5 Prices: 5 Service: 5 A well-preserved location of historical and cultural value. The food was worthy of the location: the flan was tasty, my first course was truly excellent, and the Chantilly cream and red fruit cup was as good as I expected, considering the close collaboration with the historic Gemmi ice cream parlor and pastry shop. Average prices. Quick service and courteous and welcoming staff. One of the few. Provide an ice pack to keep the white wine chilled. I recommend it and would gladly return!
Best experience in Sarzana.

Quality coffee and pastries. Terrific ambiance. Decor and setting are what you would hope for an authentic experience.

Immersed in an atmosphere of refined hospitality, Il Loggiato stands as a sublime culinary oasis. With a masterful blend of elegance and warm hospitality, this restaurant offers a first-rate dining experience, expertly balancing the quality of its dishes with thoughtful and appropriate pricing. The fragrant and exquisite cream-filled cannoli is a highlight in the array of delicacies on offer. The courtesy and professionalism of the attentive and cultured staff add a precious touch to this superlative culinary experience.
Good
We entered this restaurant drawn by the beautiful loggia that welcomes diners, located in a truly charming old villa. Unfortunately, however, even at the table the flavors are a bit outdated, with dishes that are too reminiscent of 1980s cuisine. The portions are generous, but the prices are quite high for the quality of the food offered.
Always a splendid location, although I personally find the chair upholstery and tablecloths in need of updating. Very efficient and friendly table service, except for the owner, whose smile is lacking and her cold welcome makes the atmosphere more gloomy and uncomfortable. Tasty dishes and appropriate portions, but the plating and garnishes could be improved. Note: tagliatelle del loggiato (specialty), clams, asparagus, and bottarga. The dish was delicious, albeit inconvenient: 9 empty shells and 3 clams. I reported this to the waitress, who kindly notified the kitchen, and they brought me a separate portion of full clams. An unprecedentedly professional gesture, I really appreciated it! :)
Beautiful restaurant in Sarzana, the patio is the best spot. A little disappointing for the food but it was the most touristic period in august, I'll try it again in low season.
A well-known pastry and coffee shop. Have had good buccellati here before. Cakes and other pastries ok but nothing special. Spungata ok but not fantastic. service neither particularly friendly o.r…

Unfortunately the "boeuf Robespierre" was nearly cold when it was served. Even after telling the servant and a second try it was served just a bit warmer. While the employees were friendly, the lady who took the orders and was in charge of the place was unfriendly and in a bad mood right from the start, not willing to understand our needs later on. Lots of restaurants are by far better in this town. Guests from different tables were placed so close together that they could nearly not move. (Even befor Corona this would habe been too close for feeling comfortable). Two instead of one star because of the nice loggia and and the friendly servants.
We visited this restaurant on Saturday evening. The food was good and well-presented, but unfortunately, everything else ruined the experience. Upon arrival, we were told that our reservation "wasn't recorded," even though it had been confirmed over the phone. After a somewhat annoyed attitude, they seated us at an unset table with a dirty and wet tablecloth. A truly terrible welcome. Long waits may be understandable on a Saturday evening, but the staff's professionalism was almost nonexistent: one waitress brought our coffee without a tray, holding the cup with her finger right where the customer is supposed to drink. Unacceptable from every perspective. The icing on the cake came when we got the bill: we paid €197 in cash, but when we asked for a receipt, we were handed a ready-made one, taken from a pile of receipts near the register. The receipt read €195, with a different time and clearly not related to our table. This was inappropriate and lacking transparency. It's a shame, because the food is worth it, but with such poor service and questionable practices, we certainly won't be returning, and we can't recommend this place.
Horrible service. Starting with the fact that you don't meet anyone, and even when you reserve a table, you remain standing and try to "catch" a member of staff. Furthermore, the service is inexcusable. While the staff is talking to one of the guests, you can receive a plate in the face and not even be able to apologize. Serving dishes out of order is standard practice. Furthermore, you might be served leftovers after someone else. My lobster pasta was taken away first because I had also ordered a salad that was supposed to be served first. After that, they brought the pasta with the leftover lobster (apparently after another customer). The dish contained no lobster meat, and there were parts of the claw and shell. The overall impression and the evening were ruined. The staff and management didn't even apologize. They tried to justify themselves by saying that the lobster had been boiled during cooking. However, they didn't explain the lack of meat and the presence of a small part of the shell. Disgusting! The only positive things about this place are the interior and the building itself.
