Amazing food! Have never been let down. Always consistent and good! My wife and I got the blue plate specials. I got the large and she got the small. Comes with a drink and chips.

I looove this place. Been going for 25 years. Since I was 5 and didn't even live in Waco. Now I do and have been going for forever. No other sandwich place has anything on these guys. The jalepeno cheesy bread needs to be a permanent menu add! Fantastic sandwiches.

It was my first time here and I am very much pleased and extremely satisfied with my amazing BLT. I would recommend having a salsa available because it would pair well with it but I still gobbled it down with out it. Thank you! Ill be back again for sure! ✌️👽

Best sandwiches ever in Texas. You can never go wrong with a Schmaltz all the way, and get the cup of cheese soup. Too drink you ask, the famous sweet tea and a cookie.

We moved to Waco a few years ago and wanted to try Schmaltz's and it did indeed live up to is reputation! The Original Blue Plate special was delicious and didn't take long to be served up. The staff were friendly and competent even during the Saturday lunch rush when my family and I stopped by.

The best Sandwich place in Central Texas. The best customer service, the best atmosphere and a quick service. The friendly welcome to the place goes to the owner -Nelson, manager Christiana, Ms. Morgan, Irene and Rayna etc. I would give a five star to this place which is in existence for over 50 years. Try this and you will be their customer forever - Pratap Assar

Omg these sandwiches are so good. The Schmaltz sandwich was so delicious. They were fully loaded and the bread was oh so good. The broccoli and cheddar soup was like a cozy warm hug. Highly recommend this spot!

Great locally owned and operated sandwich shop. Can't go wrong with the Schmaltz! I was lucky enough to get the jalapeno cheese bread, it could have been baked longer as it was missing a nice crunch that I'm used to receiving from a similar chain. Texan approved sweet tea and for dessert I highly recommend the chocolate chip pecan cookie! The customer service I received was great and the cashier was very polite.

Excellent sandwiches & sides, & the bread is something special. Nice environment, friendly (& quick) service - well worth a visit for a hearty lunch. ETA (March 2024): Still great, new pic (roast beef with cheddar).

These sandwiches are so good we looked for this sandwich shop again! They did not disappoint. The sandwiches were not soggy, had great flavor, and remind me of my most favorite sub shop.

Great bread. Fortunately I had the jalapeño cheese bread. Really can taste the homemade flavor. The meat on its own is average at best but Schmaltz does wonders by turning the blah meat into a 5-star sandwich. Seasoned and topped to be delicious. I recommend the blue plate special with potato salad. Some of the best.

Best sandwiches in town! I ordered a blue plate with LG Schmaltz sandwich (with no onion, tomatoes, or olives) and it definitely hits the spot and had my other half for leftovers. The bread is amazing. Highly recommend dining here!

Schmaltz's is far and away the best sandwich shop in town. Their homemade bread is fantastic, and really it's what takes their sandwiches over the top. It's been years since I had eaten here last, but the quality has not wavered a bit. Since the last time I visited, they have introduced a jalapeno cheddar bread. They were out at the time, but I will be coming back more often to try and get some! I also recommend trying their wheat bread, I think it's even better than the white bread as if that was even possible! Their portions are huge, and their large sandwich always satisfies. Can't go wrong with any sandwich on the menu either! The only knock I have on my latest visit was that I asked for no tomatoes and I received tomatoes. Not a big deal, and definitely not enough to keep me from giving 5 stars.

Schmaltz’s sandwich on homemade toasted bread with garlic butter and your favorite toppings. The tasty big sandwich was very filling.

You know that feeling when you bite into a sandwich and it's just perfect? That's what you get at Schmaltz's Sandwich Shoppe in Waco. I hit up their bigger spot recently and it was fantastic. I have fond memories of coming to Schmaltz's as a kid, and now, over 30 years later, it's incredible to share that same delicious experience with my own family. It’s more than just a meal; it's a taste of nostalgia and a new memory being made. I went with the classic traditional Schmaltz with honey mustard, and seriously, the bread is the real MVP here. It's homemade daily and toasted just right, so you get this awesome crunch on the outside and it's still super soft inside. Schmaltz's has been a Waco staple since '75, and once you try it, you'll get why. They've got soups, salads, and plenty of ways to customize your sandwich too. If you want a genuine taste of Waco – and maybe relive a few good memories or make new ones – you've gotta check out Schmaltz's. It's truly "Waco Born & Bread." I'll be back soon...with ❤️ April

I really wanted to like this place. Mind you nothing was bad, but it just didn't live up to my expectations. I mean Schmatz born and bread Waco! I was excited. This may as well be Schlotzsky's. I had the Large Pastrami with Swiss. It was nearly $16 (see pic). I expected a Jewish Deli to have home made Pastrami...nope. I didn't ask but could tell from. The look it was typical mass-produced. Also maybe 1/4 lb of meat on the sandwich? Bread was home made and food but nothing special. This place is average. I'm disappointed 😞 poor value and average quality.

I stumbled across this hidden restaurant nestled in a small plaza and thought I'd give it a try. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is that it's quite dated with the decor. You will hear music from the 50's, and the 60s, which surprisingly was quite nice and relaxing. I ordered the turkey sandwich, and when the server brought it to me, it was on a Styrofoam plate. Hmmmm, okayyy. Nothing super impressive, but the bread they use had a crispy buttery taste and it was good. Now, what I didn't like was the cost of a simple sandwich I could have made at home. I paid $14 for my order. In my opinion, this is overpriced, and I'd probably prefer to go McAllisters where at least the sandwiches look restaurant worthy and the overall presentation of the food looks better.

It smells oddly old inside. The bread is dense and not very flavorful. Everything was fresh and service was good but it just wasn’t that tasty. The overflowing trash by the fountain soda while the staff just stood there and talked amongst themselves was a giant bummer too.

I waited over 20 minutes to get one sandwich. Place was completely dead 5 workers standing around talking very disappointing and frustrating experience. I’ve been served 3x faster with the place packed out many times before.
