Kanishka's Gastro Pub Walnut Creek Reviews
We thought the food was very innovative and fresh. Tried some amazing combinations (Chicken Tikka Masala poutin) and couldn't believe how tasty it all was. We highly recommend and will be back very soon.
Kanishka's is a local favorite. Their tapas style dishes are really cool! The vegetarian fare is almost as good as the non-veg!
The food is excellent providing small portions so everyone can enjoy the entire menu without going over budget.
Great little dishes to eat with the drankssss. Good place to catch up with friends!
Great modern, creative Indian food with substantial vegan options.
Terrific neo-indian food with friendly wait staff
This place was a pleasant surprise. The concept is American Bar food with Indian seasonings. Everything was fantastic. Our waiter was the best part of the evening. Super friendly and knowledgeable. He was super attentive and helped us pick items we would like. They lettuce wrapped the sliders for me to accommodate my gluten allergy. I had my children and parents with me and everyone enjoyed the food. I will definitely be back.
We went to Kanishka's during the April 2017 Walnut Creek Restaurant Week, in a group of 12. Our tables were all set and we were seated right away. The service was timely, the servers were helpful and knowledgeable about the food. The Lamb Sliders, Kathi Rolls, Tangra Chili Chicken were amazing, to name a few. When the owner Paramita Roy found out that we were also celebrating a friend's 44th wedding anniversary, she quickly threw together a special yummy dessert platter with fresh fruit and assorted ice creams. This certainly was great customer service! This will now be one of our favorite gathering spots!
I liked the who concept. Take some foods from all over the place, put an Indian twist on it, and serve it in reasonable small plates to share amongst a group! Was there as part of a group of four and it was both fun, inventive and tasty. Service was fantastic as well!
Exceptional flavors and a beautiful array of tapas style dishes to try. The coconut shrimp was a particular favorite. We will be coming back for sure !
Nice tapas style Indian food. Very unique twist to these dishes
Occasionally they have a fix plate option, and the food has been really good.
Nice little pub with an interesting menu and nice spin on Indian snacks.
Great experience, great food.
Not bad, but not great either
Tasty small plates
Terrible food, over priced and on top of all that they serve uncooked meat. If you want to take some sick days from work, definitely visit this place.
The food was pretty decent, very fusion-ish. You can taste the Indian masalas and yet, it's not too spicy. The ambience was good. The service was below par - issues with getting us a table even when we had a reservation, had to ask for menus and cutlery/plates after being seated and waiting for a while. The food was not fabulous enough to warrant a repeat for me.
I have never heard of an Indian Gastropub that made the place exciting to dine at our anniversary. But the experience was not up to our expectation. There were some high points and low points in our dinner even with the excellent decor and the wait staff. The highs were the Crispy Paneer Lollipops and the Masala Fries. The low were the Chef's Street Style Kati Rolls and Garbanzo Masala Sliders. The raw wrap on the Kati roll made is less appetizing even with the excellent filling. When we ordered the sliders, we expected good Indian style sliders but what we got was mediocre. We received the piece of bread (not even toasted) covered with raw chickpeas. Overall not a great experience.
The food was pretty bland, and very expensive for the tiny portions. Ryan (our waiter) was more interested in playing on his cell phone, than refilling our water in a timely matter. And, when asked about things on the menu, he couldn't be bothered to give us specific answers. When the food finally arrived, most of it was luke warm, or cold. A friend in our group discovered why Ryan was so distracted. It turns out that he was cruising guys on Grindr, while he should have been working. Very unprofessional, as it seems like Ryan was the only server.
Slow service but good food
