Dirty Taco Wantagh Reviews
amazing experience!! our server nick was very attentive, even with all the bustle. the owner tom came by to check on us too, great service! the food was amazing, blown away by the short rib taco and the baja fish taco! desserts were great as well! definitely coming back!
It was our first time there. There was a long wait. First come, first served bases. It was definitely worth the wait. The tacos 🌮😋 was beyond delicious. My blueberries 🫐 magarita was amazing. The staff was super friendly. We got our food in a timely manner which was great! It made up for the wait time. We will definitely revisit this establishment.
LOVE this place. Awesome decor, funky, vibe, and super cool wait-staff. They know how to make a drink and a taco. SO many different options, so definitely something for everyone. Highly recommend!
If you’re going to Dirty Taco, do it the right way — start with the birria. It’s an absolute must. Rich, juicy, perfectly spiced, and dipped in that deep, flavorful consommé that hits every time. I pair it with the sweet plantains (non-negotiable for me), and it’s the perfect balance of savory and sweet. Pro tip: grab a seat at the bar. After 6pm, the Latin music comes on and the whole place shifts into full vibe mode — lively, fun, and exactly the energy you want for dinner and drinks. The atmosphere, the food, the music… it all works together. I keep coming back for the same order and it never misses. Easily one of my go-to spots.
The food here was delish!! Had the Mexi street fries, Korean chicken bowl and Bang Bang shrimp tacos. Gina was a gem in recommending some of the choices. The chicken in the Korean bowl could have been more tender but it did not take away from the experience. Everything was so tasty, served hot and full of flavor!
Went for dinner on a Saturday night, it was bustling. The tacos were really good, our group tried a good variety from the menu. Personally, I had the Cuban and the Dirty Taco and was very pleased. Appetizers were very good, ordered their loaded tater tots, corn and sweet plantains. Their dessert was decent. We had their version of apple pie ala mode. The apple filling was wrapped in a wonton casing, which was good but the folded parts were a bit tough and chewy. Parking lot filled up but there seemed to be ample street parking.
We just visited the Wantagh location of Dirty Taco and were so impressed with the service, food and drinks. Our waitress Gina was so friendly and helpful with our order! She explained the menu and dishes perfectly, listening to our likes and dietary restrictions. The food was over the top from starters (chicken dumplings) through dessert (churros). Tuna & jerk chicken tacos were both delicious as was the Korean Chicken bowl! We will be back soon! I wish I took photos to share. Thank you Gina!
The manager David and server Sophia made the evening great. David gave a full rundown on how things go at the Dirty Taco. Mix and match 3 for $10 tacos. No special order on the Asian flare menu (in order to keep the theme solid). Our server Sophia was very attentive and patient with us as first-time dinners at the establishment.
What is "Dirty"Taco? (I have an idea of my own, see below) Is it following the " dirty" Food truck concept from the West Coast but bringing it inside like this Wantagh location. Actually, that is what we were told, and it sure is a cool concept! I think there is another reason it's called Dirty Taco, but first let me tell you about how well our first visit went... Our server(Gina) was like a breath of fresh air. She was very knowledgeable of the menu, she knew the ingredients of the tacos, she made suggestions, she was very informative, and her passion for what she does showed, it's just a pleasure to have a server who cares about the customer! Other servers should have to watch Gina to learn how's it done. Oh yeah the food; 4 different tacos, and a side of sweet plantains; all very good, most with some kind of slaw, and a corn or flour tortilla; the Bang Bang Shrimp taco had cabbage slaw was crispy and tasty, sriracha drizzle giving it just the right spice. The Korean Short Rib taco was filled with meat, kimchi slaw, and a nice & spicy mayo ( quickly became a favorite for us). The Kung Pao Chicken taco is a medley of flavors sure to please and w/ included peanuts too , and the last on our list this trip was the Blackened Salmon ( least favorite) piled high with pineapple pieces and aji sauce makes this a nice combination - maybe it's the salmon/ blackened combo part that didn't work for us ( and one less star)? Okay for the "Dirty" part and where Dirty Taco gets it's name is imo the messy taco' s spilling over on your hands and plate lol. Oh well just a thought but it's a delicious mess that makes you feel good so no complaints here. Obtw, the place is kinda tight and cramped but it's really a very cozy, cool atmosphere, and nicely decorated, and clean, but just remember it can turn into waiting a bit to get a table. Enjoy and don't forget to ask for Gina you will be pleasantly surprised at her efficiency and expertise!
A truly unique experience from our perspective. Yes, we had to wait 40 minutes for a table for 4 on a Tuesday but well worth it!!! The choices were many, where we were already planning what to eat the NEXT time we have the opportunity to eat either here or maybe the one in Smithtown where our daughter lives. The tacos were stuffed and 3 each were almost two much for me and and my son (we're not small guys lol!). The wait staff were friendly and very attentive.
Dirty Taco was a great time for Cinco de Mayo! Everyone my buddy and I encountered were really friendly and accommodating. Of course it’s gonna be packed on a day of celebration, but the wait was worth it. Music was great but the food was even better. The starter nachos came out in about 5 minutes. The tacos I had were the Dirty Taco and the Korean short rib taco. Don’t you dare sleep on the house margaritas! We got free Cinco shirts! Dirty Taco+Tequila 👌
Got lucky with quick seating, this location is small and busy. Plenty of menu options for meat, fish, veg and chicken. We kept it simple with salsa very tasty just a pinch of kick and chips lightly salted crunchy. Blackened salmon taco juicy with pineapple and slaw. Shrimp taco nice Thai influence. Overall thumbs up, only down for me hard metal chairs not a game changer, all the food top winner.
In Long Island for a quick weekend we stopped by this place. For a place called Dirty Taco I can assure you it was very clean and the service was pretty quick. This place is a franchised restaurant so there are other places you can find this food. I’d say the food is that of an elevated sports bar with an inventive twist of cross culturalism. It wasn’t bad and also had a good drink menu.
Our visit was on a Friday afternoon at 4pm for three guest. It was fairly empty which was nice because I’ve gone before and was given an hour wait! Great COVID standards. All employees wore proper attire and everything was spaced out. The drinks were amazing. So amazing I forgot to take a photo! Reasonably priced for delicious drinks. The tacos were good. The server recommended a few. I was not to pleased with the calamari taco. It was very hard and chewy so we decided not to eat it. The other tacos were delicious!
I had gotten take out a few times which was alright, average. We weren’t really greeted when we walked in. I was with a four year old but we were seated at a table with tall seats which was complicated with a small child. A family with two young kids came in right after us and were offered a table with lower seats that would be easier for the kids. Not sure why I wasn’t offered that. A waiter also offered their kids New Year’s Eve paper crowns but didn’t offer one to my daughter. The food was pretty average, definitely not authentic Mexican. Our waiter was friendly, but not being greeted when we walked in just didn’t set the tone for a great experience. Wont be coming back.
Went here with two friends last night. They said the wait would be 15-20 mins. It was longer than that. There was no room at the bar at that moment, so we waited in the waiting area, which was very cold. We finally had some drinks and they were good. I liked the jalapeño tequila. We finally sat down and ordered some apps. The menu looks amazing, but I felt it was very hit or miss. For our apps we had the chips and guac, some wings, and the habanero ribs. I had been looking forward to the ribs all day since I checked the menu online earlier in the day. There is a little chili pepper on the menu next to it and I love spicy food. The meat was so tender and that was good. But it lacked flavour. It was a total let down. The wings were good and the chips and guac were good. But nothing special. We then ordered tacos and one of my friends and I cut our order down from what was originally planned because the apps were nothing special. The tacos came and they were nothing special. I ordered the Ahi taco and the special Korean short rib taco. The short ribs were very tender, but again lacked flavour. The Ahi tuna was refreshing, but again it was nothing special and not spicy as advertised on the menu. My friend got a Birria taco and that had flavour. I felt disappointed. It was Taco Tuesday and I probably should have just done the 3 for $10 deal. The special tacos are hit or miss. Food lacks flavour and spice and is bland. The place is also very small and loud. I come to LI about once a year and was hoping to make this the new place to get together at, but no. My other two friends will probably not return. Please add flavour to the food!
Came here before to try the birra tacos. They were actually pretty good! Pickup service was not my favorite. I ordered $30 worth of food over the phone and came in the girl asked me if I was an uber driver….. I may be the only mixed person there to order but idk what about me makes me look like an uber driver. Maybe next time just ASK A PAYING CUSTOMER if they placed an order already, blondie. If I go back I’ll go to the location on the north shore.
Super loud, uncomfortablely close seating, and ZERO atmosphere. Like NO music or anything. Just drunk people at the bar. But that wasn’t the worst part! The food was terrible! The ribs were tough AND flavorless!! Couldn’t believe it for $14!!? The only taco that was semi decent was the Jamaican Jerk and that’s only because it was spicy as hell, but otherwise it was like a child came up with the recipes. Insane how much they’re charging for such awful food. 🤯🤯 If you have even a decent taste in food, don’t bother. If you just plan on getting drunk with your friends, maybe this is the spot for you!
The waitress was a disaster. Literally the worst service that I have ever had in 57 years of life. Beyond taking the initial order and doing so for five other tables simultaneously, this waitress planted herself at a table with two of her customer friends and ignored the people who she should have been serving. She did not check in with me and my guest once. I repeatedly asked for a knife and two glasses of water and she was unable to make that happen. I was never served water! I actually regret having paid the bill and refused to tip her. Horrible lack of regard for paying customers and the food was a huge disappointment. Bizarre flavor combinations that I will be vomiting up shortly. So disappointed and disgusted. Sincerely. I will not be eating at the Dirty Taco in Wantagh ever again. Go to the one in Rockville Center if you want a better service experience and the same bizarre menu.
