Bistro Ete Water Mill Reviews
Wow! Went there last weekend for a pig roast with 10 friends. We had the best time! The suckling pig was incredible. Chef Ari had the coal fired spit going all afternoon. Everything was absolutely perfect. The staff is so friendly, and knowledgeable. I cannot recommend this place enough. The level of detail and execution that goes into every plate is beyond belief.
Absolutely incredible dishes, and so very sweet and patient with dogs. Our pup got to enjoy the doggy menu over the weekend, and the staff was so accommodating. Highly recommend
Such a great experience. The owner is charismatic and I believe stopped at every table. I lived in Alaska for 7 years and I've eaten a lot over Halibut. The special was Halibut w/ a champagne caviar sauce and it was in the top two I've had the pleasure to enjoy in the lower 48. The Truffle grilled cheese was awesome. The duck was cooked perfectly. The steak fritz was on point. The soup dujour was cream of cauliflower and was just perfect on the pallet. We will definitely be back for the aged steaks and more.
Went in cautious from the various one stars but I think they maybe a bit exaggerated. Went on a Sunday night and was treated with great care and respect. The food was typical to the profile of French cuisine and the flavors were robust. I greatly enjoyed the braised beef pappardelle but regretted not trying the escargot because that table next to use seemed to really enjoy them.
Our absolute favorite place to dine in the Hamptons 💓 We fell in love from the first visit. Run by the sweetest couple. Chef Arie’s cuisine will have you coming back for more! Liz makes you feel right at home and has a great staff to take care of you. Anyone who we have brought there , has become a regular. Also they are the most dog friendly restaurant you will find. So easy to go and enjoy a meal and have our pups enjoy their own as well. Best of the best in the Hamptons!
The best restaurant in the Hamptons, hands down. Just dined at their Greek Easter celebration and it was fantastic. They had a whole roasted lamb that was out of this world. Every course was better than the next. We had such a great time? The staff is top notch and attentive. Spicy Margarita is the cocktail to get!
From the owners to the staff this place is truly special. Amazing food and wonderful cocktails. Top notch and we can’t wait to come back.

The food was delicious and you can tell a lot of thought went into it. The staff was very friendly! Overall very enjoyable
Delicious food, impeccable service, difficult to get a table, always booked
Unbelievable restaurant, favorite in hamptons IMO (i've been at least 20 times, hasn't missed once). It is remarkable how many good dishes are on the menu. The chef is a rare talent, French-trained but also uses interesting Cyprian techniques, personally approaches every table to check in. Personal favorites are Jerk Duck Wings, Goat Cheese Salad, Paparadelle Ragu, Aged steaks, Duck Paella with Chorizo, and Osso Bucco with Rissoto. Esp. the last one, never have tasted such succulent osso bucco. Chef's takes on each are original and delicious. Drink menu is outstanding too, rounded by delicious old fashioned and mescal drinks. It is owned by a hospitable couple, really just lovely down-to-earth people, super friendly. I fantasize about their dishes when away.
All time favorite Hamptons eating spot. Amazing food and wonderful hospitality! Love Liz and Arie! 💕💕💕⭐️⭐️⭐️
Bistro Ete has been a family favorite for over 5 years! Liz and Arie are wonderful, the food is amazing and the restaurant is warm and inviting. Perfect for a family get-together or just a cozy night out. We look forward to many more delicious meals!
Bistro Ete has been one of our favorite go-to restaurants since they have opened. Liz and Arie are wonderful hosts, warm and accommodating! The food is always delicious thanks to Chef Arie…he also makes the best Martini’s!!! Our favorites are too many to mention but the steaks are authentic dry aged USDA Prime.
Absolutely love this restaurant. The owners are sweethearts and the food is the best! The service is great, the ambiance is perfect and we bring new friends there all the time- who all love it as well! Thank you for the many amazing experiences and looking forward to the next one!
A special place! Reliably delicious food in the kind of relaxed, welcoming setting that lets you sink in and enjoy it. As much a place for a great steak and top-notch martini (NB: don't sleep on the drink list) as for an early pasta meal with kids, or local seafood and a great glass of white on a hot day, or a warming meal when the weather turns…
My go-to Hamptons gem—Bistro Été In the thick of a busy summer, when even the most polished spots can feel frazzled, Arie and Liz always manage to make me feel like I’m dining at their home—warm, effortless, and sincere. They’re the heart of it all. The vibe is relaxed while serving the best food. The menu might say Coastal French, but honestly, each bite comes with its own passport stamp. One night it’s slices of absurdly good Ibérico jamón served on pan con tomate—hello, Spain—another it’s alpine charcoal raclette, whisking you straight to Switzerland. It’s not just French–Mediterranean: Italian, Middle Eastern, Alpine—you name it, Arie has indelibly woven it in. The onion soup is to-die-for—and yes, you can elevate it with foie gras! The foie gras and truffles are a specialty but so are the simple dishes like grilled chicken, fish and steak. The specials rotate and are often my favorites. There are too many dishes to list as my favorites-I've never had a bad meal here and we have been dining here since they opened. Then there’s the ice cream—homemade and very creative. And for when you want something more grounded, the dry-aged steaks (or fish, seafood, or chicken) shine—pure, honest, flavorful. You can even buy your own whole sub‑primal and have Arie age it for you; how cool is that? The cocktails are another high note—Arie doesn’t just serve drinks; he crafts memorable flavor experiences behind the bar. And of course the truffles are my personal favorite. They’re always in play—fresh, shaved, abundant. The entire staff is attentive, friendly, and genuinely there to make you feel seen. Thank you all for such wonderful evenings!
I’ve spent my life eating at New York’s best—Jean-Georges, Le Bernardin, Marea, Daniel, Carbone—you name it. I know great food when I taste it, and I don’t hand out praise lightly. Three nights a week, I’m here because no one in the Hamptons is doing French Mediterranean like Chef Ari. The pasta trapanesca could stand proud in Rome. The escargot? Better than L’Escargot Montorgueil in Paris—yes, I said it. The Iberico ham is dangerously addictive, and the steak is so perfect that Pat LaFrieda himself would take notes. And then there’s the warmth—Ari in the kitchen, his wife Liz welcoming guests, and their son Jake often nearby. This isn’t just a restaurant—it’s their home, and when you walk in, you feel like part of the family. In a town full of seasonal “it” spots, this is one of the rare places that delivers every single time. If you’re lucky enough to score a table, you’ll understand why it’s always worth the wait.
Omg .. I am 4 generation Hamtonite ! My husband and I love this restaurant .. I love Stone Creek too .. but the fact these two chefs are amazing! You can’t go wrong…to me the top restaurants in the Hamptons is Stone creek inn and Bistro Ete . I have referred this restaurant to many of my clients and they love it …
Bistro Ete is one of the finest restaurants in the Hamptons. Chef Ari's formal Cordon Blu training comes through in carefully designed dishes that brings his mediterranean flair to the best local ingredients. Bistro Ete manages to deliver perfection consistently. The service is always professional without being pretentious. Liz, who runs the front of the house is always welcoming and together with Ari behind the bar create a great vibe.
first dinner experience last night. won't be the last!!!!!! can't say enough good things about this place. greeted by the owners when we first walked in. seated immediately. atmosphere is very welcoming and cozy. we started off with their specialty cocktails. i had the smoked old fashion and my wife had the truffle martini. the presentation was amazing and the taste was out of this world. for an appetizer we split the jamon iberico, which is a cured leg of pork, shaved ultra thin and served with crusty olive oil garlic infused bread. the pork literally melts in your mouth! moved on to the dry aged NY strip that was cooked medium rare to perfection. finished with a delicious ice cream and berry crepe and a delicious espresso! we saw this restaurant featured on news 12 "the east end" program. we drove 40 miles to get here and we will definitely be back!!!!!
This restaurant is by far my favorite in the Hampton’s. I have tried every single dish and I have yet to find one that I don’t love. The service is spot on as they always make it seem like they are welcoming you to their family.
It was our first visit to the restaurant, from the moment we arrived you know you are ìn a special place. The greeting when we arrived by owner Ari and his wife made you, feel like a regular. The ambience Was spot on from the music to the lighting, and noise level not existent. Cocktails freshly made had an off the hook Spicy margarita ,and the menu of very unique drinks were ordered by many. Service by our waiter Arturo was very attentive, And that was just the beginning of a fantastic dining experience ! I need to eat gluten-free. And they had so many choices and the menu, It was terrific! I ordered escargot Which was accomcomped by gluten Free bread so as not to waste the delicious sauce. The bacon wrapped pork loin was very flavorful and cooked perfectly! And the apple tatin,a perfect ending to a perfect meal! We will definitely be regular customers , and if you have not experienced this restaurant don't miss it!!!
We love Bistro Ete, whether the rotisserie chicken which we have bought every Friday for several years, or having dinner in the restaurant at the bar or in the main room. It is always delicious and gracious.
Amazing food and service with a super friendly staff in a space with a great vibe. Probably the most interesting food in the Hamptons. Love the place and intend to make it one of my regular spots. Great fun and food.
Truly the best and my favorite restaurant in the Hamptons!! The most incredible food service and atmosphere in all of the Hamptons!! And the best owners I love Liz and Ari.
This has become one of my favorite restaurants in the hamptons. It was highly recommended to me by several friends and it did not disappoint! Liz the owner is exceptionally accommodating and her team is fantastic. Katheryn our server was as good as it gets. This was our second visit and both times were fantastic.
Amazing food and with an amazingly friendly and welcoming staff. Both the food and the atmosphere are really cool. My friends and I had the greatest time and we will definitely be back.
Bistro Ete is special. The quality of the food paired with the casual but elegant atmosphere creates and unbelievable dining experience, especially when dining al fresco!
I can’t believe the experience we had here. First off, we were a large group of people (15) with five young children. It very hard to find a place to accommodate us in the Hamptons, but this team did it impeccable. The food was excellent, service was incredible and the ambiance was perfect. They even brought a giant teddy bear to the table for the kids to take pictures with. Everything we ate was delicious! I had the bass, hubby & kids had that NY strip, pasta & chicken. The mint chocolate ice cream for dessert is a must. This was our last night in the Hamptons for the season and this team made it very special. Can’t wait to go back here!
Bistro Ete is our absolute favorite restaurant. We love the super cozy, welcoming atmosphere that always manages to feel like a meal at home. The food is wonderful and there are enough changing seasonal specials to keep you on your toes, but also a great menu of fresh and comforting staples to go back to. The simple mixed greens is a life changing salad. Get. It. The staff, Liz and Ari - I cannot say enough nice things about the whole crew, but they are a large part of what keeps us coming back week after week. They are all just the best and their warmth and genuine hospitality make every visit special.
Absolutely amazing! Every dish I have ever ordered has been outstanding. From the duck wings to the fried olives to the halibut with champagne truffle sauce to name just a few. The service is impeccable as their staff is family. The drinks especially the margaritas are delightful. The relaxed family style and welcoming atmosphere are unique to the Hamptons. Cannot recommend it enough.
Sat outside on a beautiful Saturday evening. Brought both dogs and had amazing experience. It’s not a place I’d frequent (the drive is almost an hour and a half from where we live), but as a once or twice a year event, would absolutely come back. The food prepared for our dogs was something I was actually interested in eating so you can expect some extremely upscale dining options. The stand out was our server though. Kat was fantastic, going above and beyond, telling us the truth about food choices as it relates to our appetite, allergies, and taste preferences. We stuck with her suggestions through most of the meal and were not disappointed at any point. The owner was super kind and our truffle cup run over. She even came over with truffle to ensure dogs got truffle on their food! Some folks complained in these reviews about the stuffed animals inside but we were delighted to see a large plush of Remy the rat from the film Ratatouille sitting at a table just inside the front door. Warmed my heart, so I say keep em! Also, if they have the truffle grilled cheese, you need it in your life. You just do. Get it. Now.
Wonderful dinner, we had a terrific dinner. Food was prompt, service excellent, great menu, and our dinner was fantastic. Chef/wife combo works, and 10yrs in business is NOT easy in restaurant space. I can't wait to return.
A true gem! From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed like family. The genuine hospitality of Ari and Liz shines through in every detail. The food is simply exceptional and the drinks are amazing. We eat there quite often and every dish we’ve tried has always been perfectly prepared and presented. The waitstaff are all fabulous…attentive without being intrusive. The ambiance is warm and inviting. We always leave looking forward to coming back.
Bistro Ete is one of the best restaurants in the Hamptons!!! First & most important… the food is delicious !!!! It is clear that Ari (chef/owner) loves what he does & you can tell by the passion that goes into each item served ! Every detail is perfect from the beautiful infused ice cubes, to the speciality drinks & home made ice cream .. all are impressive !! Some of my favorite entrees include Ari’s special dry aged steak & the Friday night rotisserie chicken .. My husband loves the Cacio e Pepe!!! This the perfect restaurant for any occasion, a bday celebration or an intimate dinner with friends. The first time I went I was blown away at the attention to detail & chef Ari’s showmanship!!! I have been a fan ever since!! The staff are friendly, attentive & are very accommodating to certain dietary restrictions. Bistro Ete has a cozy & lively vibe and it never disappoints!!
My first time at Bistro Été was unforgettable. The staff were warm and attentive, making us feel instantly welcome. The cozy-yet-elegant atmosphere set the perfect tone for the night. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. It’s clear the chef puts real passion into the food. A hidden gem I’ll definitely be coming back to.
Bistro Ete is the best restaurant in the Hamptons. The food is outstanding and the owners Ari and Liz make you feel at home each time you walk in. Every dish has so much care put into it and my wife and I get excited to go every week to try new and delicious items. There is something for everyone. It’s become our top spot!
This is by far and away the absolute best restaurant in the Hampton’s No one and I mean NO ONE has their product Their service or their atmosphere What Ari does with Brussel sprouts and Halumi should be illegal - it’s that good No one out here has Iberico ham sliced to order No one has truffles No makes zucchini pasta like he does And I haven’t even discussed the cocktails Liz is a fantastic host and the service team are true professionals that you see week after the week and year of the year because they’re well paid and well taken care of and intern they take care of the customers . The beef is exceptional. The fish is fresh and delicious. It is without question our favorite restaurant out here and we have no problem on a Saturday night traveling from East Hampton to Watermill because the food is just that good.
RIDICULOUSLY GOOD STEAK!!!! My husband and I were in the mood for a great steak and had heard so much about Chef Arie’s aged beef. We showed up early and were lucky to secure last minute table. I’m a professional chef- and I will tell you this was one of the most incredible steaks I’ve had in my life! We ordered the NY strip- cooked perfectly, every bite delicious. The chanterelle sauce was an added bonus! Highly, highly recommend!!!!
Bistro Ete is easily one of my favorite spots in all of the Hamptons. We absolutely love the champagne caviar sauce, truffle tuesdays (!!), the steak (and dry-aged in house!), and frankly everything is full of flavor. Everything here just tastes like it was made for a special occasion. Liz and Arie (hostess, chef, owners) are super friendly and create an atmosphere that makes you feel special. The vibes are upscale but at the same time family friendly and easygoing. They care as much about the food as the experience. Each time we dine here, we say we can't wait to come back (and we do).
Arie and Liz at Bistro Ete never cease to delight…every dining experience is exceptional. Arie’s creative, passionate and exacting cuisine is unlike any other and there is always something delicious for everyone. Liz’s warmth and generous hospitality makes you feel like you’re visiting with family. I’ve been dining at Bistro Ete for more than 5 years and it only seems to get better. There’s such an authenticity to please that is truly infectious. And while they take pride in remembering what your favorite drinks and dishes, they happily encourage you to try new dishes! The ambiance is relaxing yet immersive. I have met so many interesting people at Bistro Ete who have become friends. We are grateful that Arie and Liz have such a passion and panache for what they LOVE! By far…. A true favorite of mine!
Food that is fantastic. Service with a smile. Chef Arie and his wife Liz create a excellent atmosphere. We will be back.
Love the vibe and setting. As Californian’s we seek out very fresh farm-to-table curated menus. This hits the mark. Great cocktails, lovely wine list. Particularly love the breadth of the menu, my husband can enjoy a steak selection while I tend to plant based or lighter coastal meals. This is our favorite restaurant when we summer in the Hamptons. Can’t wait to go back.
Amazing service! Staff was incredibly friendly and treated us—and our dog—with a lot of love. Food was very good but I personally felt not worth the price (though this may just be a product of the location). Would be happy to come back but might be more suited to a special occasion than a typical dinner.
I'm giving this 2 stars because we loved it the first time. The last time it was not good. We specifically went on a Friday to try the chicken because we thought it would be wonderful. I've purchased chicken at BJ's and Costco that was better than the one we ate. The Brussel sprouts were over burnt and not edible. We started with the grilled cheese as an appetizer and that was the best part of the meal. That and the accompanying tiny bit of soup that came with it. That was delicious. wish we stopped there. The fried olives and artichokes were nothing special at all. The Brussel sprouts, olives, artichokes, and 2 chicken dinners we purchased are going in the garbage as I speak and because the meal is pricy my husband wanted to take them home but it is not worth getting sick from. The discomfort I experienced Friday on the way home is not worth it. I loved the Brussel sprouts the first time we had it, This time they must have been left cooking too long or were left over from the night before.. They were too burnt and inedible and as much as we brought all this stuff home because we paid so much for it. It is all now going in the garbage. What a shame because the first time we were there we loved it. Friday, nothing special at all. It's too expensive to not consistently be good. Throwing out $125+ of left overs is ridiculous.
The space is beautiful, both inside and outside - though the outside could do with a little more decor. Service is also wonderful and warm; the staff members were so sweet to our dog and he loved the house-made doggy biscuits. The drinks were great - well balanced and strong. The raspberry chocolate espresso martini is not to be missed! Unfortunately, the food was a huge let down for us. We were initially excited to see the wide range of vegetarian options, which is unusual at a french restaurant. But the chef did not seem to know how to treat the vegetables; they were unseasoned from the inside and the beans were hard and undercooked. The grandly named potato “poppers” were just… cubes of fried potato with a forgettable aioli. We ordered the mushroom scallops and were shocked at how tasteless they were - setting aside the lack of seasoning, they didn’t even taste much like mushrooms. The one good dish was the brie and mushrooms wrapped in puff pastry but that is also a stunningly simple dish to make. Overall, we were disappointed by the chef’s lack of expertise in cooking vegetables, despite being trained at Le Cordon Bleu. We may be back for drinks and the vibe, but I don’t think we would eat here again.
The restaurant has a nice style and has a nice outside terrace. The problem is that there are corny teddy bears and stuffed animals all over the entrance of the place. Also the chef, Chef Arie, is an egotistical corny person who is obsessed with himself. He puts his name over everything. He also stuck in a bite of jamon iberico before serving it to our table. He looked around and looked for anyone looking when he stuck it but he didn’t notice us looking. They also served a 500 degree rock with my dry, overcooked steak. They didn’t warn me not to touch the rock so then I tried move the rock out of the way of my steak and it burned my finger.
Haven’t had a good dish from this restaurant in the 2 times I’ve went here. The dishes are appealing on the menu but the taste isn’t. The food is mostly bland and texturally unpleasant. The service for the most part was good, but chef Ari was annoying.
My friends and I came for dinner on a Saturday and really wanted to like this place given its great reviews. Some pros - the atmosphere is very charming and the drinks were good; but the food and service left much to be desired. Escargot was fresh but under seasoned, short rib pappardelle drowned in butter, and potato poppers were basically burnt home fries that could’ve came from a frozen bag. Worst offense was the very overcooked halibut which my friend sent back - AND he was approached by the male owner of the restaurant who proceeded to rudely tell us it was perfectly cooked (not true and clearly he did not taste it) - this was incredibly offputting for a nice Hamptons restaurant. In addition to all this, our mains came close to 2 hours after we sat. All in all, it was a very negative experience.
