Friedmans New York Reviews
I’ve been here several times and always received the best food, the best service! Their chicken waffle is amazing!!!! But this place is always crowded. Better reserve a seat before you come.
Great place for breakfast and brunch. Service was on point and the poorly was great. Gluten Free options across the breakfast menu. I would definitely go back in the future...
It’s the first time I experience gluten free burger like a ‘normal person’. In other restaurants they give you burgers with gluten free bread like a sandwich but here the GF buns looked like regular ones. We ordered the friedmans burger, i highly recommend to put some sauce/cheese because it’s a little dry. The hot chocolate is sooo delicious. They offered me cheese but I thought it was an extra portion but there is not included any. Staff is attentive and nice. I highly recommend to do reservation on weekends. We went on a Saturday at 11.30am and we had to wait after 7 turns. The place is also gorgeous and it has an elegant restroom.
This is an upscale diner consisting of the finer things. My only critic is the hash browns. As a southerner, we need a little more flavor. That also seems to be a consistent one for hash browns in NYC anywhere we go. These had none and I had to add a little salt and pepper. Everything else was fantastic. The strawberry jelly and the bread seemed to both be home made. The bread had a nice chew and snap to the rind. The serving sizes were huge. You honestly could share the meals. The pancakes were nice and fluffy and the whip cream was the real deal. Not the canned variety. The syrup was classic maple and the bacon was a thick cut that might of needed a bit more crisp to my liking. All in all, I’d come back to try other things.
This place was phenomenal! I was really excited because I had heard really high reviews for Friedman's and it was so worth it! The whole menu can be glue free except 1 or 2 things. They were very efficient in making sure that everything was safe for celiac disease. We got the macaroni and cheese bites, lemon ricotta pancakes, potato hash, macaroni and cheese, and the berry French toast, and it was amazing.I highly recommend Friedman's. I felt really safe to eat there as a person having severe celiac disease. The prices are a little high and the macaroni and cheese is way small for $15 but otherwise, we had a wonderful experience.
My absolute favorite restaurant in New York City! Beautiful interior, modern yet cosy American flair and food. The service is really friendly, well informed and super fast. The food has exceptional quality, a lot of gluten free options are available, including pancakes, fried chicken, waffles, bread and toast. The fryer is completely gluten free, something like this does not happen often. The servers are well informed about gluten and can provide additional information. Pancakes, fried chicken and co are also available as a side dish, allowing you to try more food. Everything is reasonably priced and the food arrives super fast. 12/10 would recommend again.
The food was delicious, so many delicious gluten free options! I was very impressed with the quality of the food and the staff were very helpful to accommodate my needs. The most amazing gluten free Waffles!! There are several Friedman's in New York, I visited two during my recent visit. The one in Hell's Kitchen was smaller and offers a more chilled vibe. Both were fantastic!!
Great food for the whole family with an upscale flair. The decor was interesting with simple jarred veggies along the walls which made for great entertainment while we waited. The service was good and the food came pretty quickly. There is no kids menu but there was plenty to choose from. My son had Mac and cheese bites from the app menu, for example.
Perfect pre-MSG concert spot! Walked in during their Happy Hour, which is daily from 2-6pm! FYl, their HH bevs are always avail, but their HH small bites are only avail on the weekdays. We shared everything as a party of 3 and it was just right: - Sweet Potato Fries (HH): Plentiful and the perfect finger food to pick on - Buffalo Wings (HH): Standardly coated with the right level of spice - Korean BBQ Wings (HH): Reminds me of a soy garlic flavor, YUM! - Classic BLAT (Reg item): Shared this w my sister and it came with fries too! This was the right amt to share with all the HH items we got Overall, would return for a reliable, decent American bite if I have another concert nearby. Spacious restaurant, clean restrooms, and helpful staff.
Definitely recommend to try this place . We had a great time here. Our breakfast was good. People are nice and friendly. Atmosphere was great. My meal was OK. I got myself shakshuka. It was good but little bit too much bitterness/sour tomatoes. Omelet was great. One more thing coffee was not good. But overall great place, good service and friendly atmosphere.
5 stars for customer service and overall vibes. Our server (see photo) was wonderful, very patient and knowledgeable of the menu. 3 stars for the food itself- it’s not the cheapest so I was expecting more flavor. The Mac and cheese bites were tasty but for the entrees, I ordered chilaquiles and the grilled cheese but both were bland and lackluster. Did not justify the price or location within Chelsea market.
I went for a late lunch with a friend. It was a Tuesday afternoon, my overall impression was that it was a decent place to go for a meal and chat session near Penn Station. The food was decent. Fries could be more crispier but thats my personal preference. Sandwhich was good and good portion. Would I go again? Yes, its in a good place, spacious, decent range of food. Worth the money? Considering the area and type of food, wouldn’t hurt to try. I think dinner menu is different and would like to try that next time.
We chose this restaurant for Thanksgiving because I have Celiac. We started with the Mac & cheese bites which were amazing! My sister ordered the prefix Thanksgiving dinner which she really enjoyed. I took advantage of the chance to have gluten-free fried chicken, mac & cheese, and roasted Brussel sprouts. Everything was delicious. The only thing that could have been better was the apple pie crumble. It was served cold even though the waitress said it was a warm dish. When I let her know that it actually wasn’t warm, she did not offer to heat it up.
We skipped the free hotel breakfast (no regrets) and found this spot thanks to good old Yelp. For a late lunch, I’m not mad at this place. Judging by the crowd, it’s clearly popular, but even with the rush, we were seated pretty quickly. My wife ordered the chicken and cheddar waffles, and I went with the B.E.L.T. and we both had a mimosa. The food came out hot and fresh. The chicken was perfectly fried, crispy, moist, and seasoned just right. The waffle had a nice texture: soft with a little crunch. The cheddar was mild and didn’t overpower the waffle. Overall, a solid combo. The B.E.L.T. hit the spot. The bread was toasted just right, and the bacon was high quality. I swapped the sunny side up egg for scrambled, and it still worked great. The potato hash was fried nicely, could’ve used a bit more salt, but nothing a little ketchup couldn’t fix. Our server mentioned the $10 mimosas, so of course, we had to try them. They were just ok, with extremely small portions. I also would have preferred other juice options for the mimosa besides orange juice. Overall it was refreshing, but next time I’d probably go for a cocktail or just a plain Orange Juice. Overall, a good spot. I’d recommend it.
This was my second visit to Friedmans, although at a different location. The food and service were excellent! My salad was so large I could not finish it, and I regretted not being able to take the leftovers with me. There were four of us in total and everyone was very pleased with their meals. This location was much quieter than the one near the Broadway Theaters. That one had singing servers, while this one did not. No worries though, we really enjoyed the calmer atmosphere here. Plenty of gluten-free options also.
Good food but disappointing service. Our server, Tseten, was extremely slow and unprofessional. I asked for a coffee refill — after a long wait, it finally arrived in a plastic to-go cup instead of a proper mug. I asked specifically for cream, but the second time they brought milk. Even the checkout process felt messy and amateur. The kitchen does a great job, but the service needs serious improvement
