Gypsy Joynt Galveston Reviews
The food was great. Huge servings. Just an amazing place we found near where we were staying. The flavors of the food mixtures were incredible. They have their bakery on site and all of the bread, cookies, pasties, and other desserts are made from scratch. The burrito I had was so good and my wifes sandwich a complete meal.
I came during Restaurant Week for their specials, but honestly, I’ve been to Gypsy Joint several times and this place never disappoints—no matter what you order. One of the things that really sets them apart is that they have a bakery on site. They make their own desserts and even bake the bread for their burgers, which truly takes everything to another level. You can taste the difference. And let me just say… the Yippee Yahweh Burger is so good that it’s basically the only thing I ever get. It’s that good. Every single time. If you’re a burger lover, this is a must. Highly recommend checking them out—especially the decor! Restaurant Week or not, they’re consistently amazing.
Food tasted excellent and staff was very friendly. Lots of artwork and pieces around to look at while seated. We come here now almost every time we’re in Galveston for breakfast
This place is has a pulse! Lots of nostalgia throughout the restaurant and even a private party room. The staff provide excellent service, and their food selection is amazing.
Everything looks and tastes homemade! This place is absolutely amazing from the atmosphere, service, and of course, the food! The biscuit and gravy was long gone by the time I decided to take a picture. My walnut buttermilk pancakes were chefs KISS!
I love this place. It's not cheap, but things like the unicorn coffee that came with a rock sugar stir and the salad with seared shrimp and choice beef strips are just examples of unique, highly flavorful, and fun items. The decor makes me happy. Take your gal pals here and be gypsies.
The Gypsy Joint has an amazing variety on the menu and fun vibe. We had the Pesto pizza, which was more than the two of us could eat and delicious. The staff were super nice and helpful. We will go back and I definitely recommend it. There is something there for everyone.
Everything here was just perfect. 💜 the decorations, service, food!!!, and coffee. You can taste the care that went into the food. We will definitely be back again and again.
A group of us went here tonight and had a great experience. I got the muffaletta sandwich which was actually better than some of the muffalettas I've had in New Orleans. Others at my table got the surf n turf quesadilla, the fried catfish sandwich, the taco salad, the fried shrimp plate, various kinds of nachos, and the pulled pork sandwich. Everyone was very happy with their food, the servings were plentiful, the atmosphere was lovely, the staff were friendly & pleasant and checked to make sure everything was good. Good thing to know here is that once you walk through the door, grab a menu and order first thing at the counter. They'll bring your food to you, but it's not really table service. Once you get your food, you refill your own drinks etc. We were all very happy with this place and none of us had been here before. Most of us are just visiting from out of town, but we come through town occasionally and will be back to have some more yummy food. This spot was recommended to us by local friends, and after eating here I can see why they sent us there.
It's been a good, long minute since I have had a memorable, craveable, experience at a restaurant. My daughter and I went to the Gypsy Joynt this weekend to sample the catering menu for her wedding. My expectations were fairly low. We walked in and were immediately greeted by friendly staff. It smelled amazing inside and there were some seriously impressive baked goods displayed. We were sat at a table quickly and then they began to bring out the selections for our tasting. We tried a Banana Bread appetizer, Roast Chicken with Veggies, Pot Roast, Honeyed Carrots, Cajun Rice, and Shrimp and Grits. My daughter and I started with the chicken. I mean... It's roast chicken for a catering order. I expected something perfectly "fine". Like Boston Market-esque. What we had was a religious experience. It was probably some of the best chicken I've ever put in my mouth. It was definitely some of the best FOOD I have ever put in my mouth. It's entirely possible that a soul or two was sold to a Voodoo priestess in exchange for the talent in that kitchen. Everything we ate was amazing. I told my daughter that people might not talk about her wedding decor, and they might not talk about the entertainment, and they might not talk about the venue... But they will DEFINITELY talk about the FOOD! Before we left, I bought a selection of the baked goods that they sold at the counter, and I would be lying if I said I ever had a better cinnamon roll. It was bigger than my face! I waited until the next day to try it, as we were so full from our luncheon, so I expected it to be slightly stale, and that would be fine; but the roll was tender and flakey, the thick frosting was sweet and creamy without being cloying, and there was a crystalized, buttery, cinnamon-y bottom that made you want to eat this thing upside down. I was able to eat about 1/6 of it before I was stuffed, and my whole office smells like a hug from a grandma. Do not miss an opportunity to try this place. Don't waste your time on fried frozen food at the sea wall. If you want to remember your trip to Galveston, Tx, RUN to the Gypsy Joynt and eat ALL the things!!
Aestheticlly, fun. Pizza, burgers, wings, and much more. They have refill station for drinks. They do serve Coke products, not Pepsi. That being said, there's no waiter. You sit yourself and order at the counter. We ordered the Shroom Burger and Joynt Nachos this time. The Shroom Burger was just ok, but the chips that came with it were great. The nachos were really good.
The staff were amazing 9/7 6pmish. The burgers we had are in point. We will now be a local visitor. Great to see everyone was happy a work!!! They happen to be out of the spice I wanted to buy and I was going to get it next time I returned. The young man actually caught me outside to bring a sample to my car before I drive off. That shows a level of customer service that you don’t get everywhere. Thank you to the team on shift !
Great gem in Galveston, newer location seems to be in a good spot. Met with the owners to work on a catering gig for a June Beach Celebration, really nice people. They are working up a great menu for us. Decided to grab a burger and tacos to go while we’re there. Great flavor and delicious meal. Definitely will visit again next time we’re down to the island.
I’ve been coming here since they were in the old building near the strand, and I still love this newer location just as much! Food is always amazing and is full of flavor, I really love their scrambled eggs! They also give you a really good jam that is absolutely amazing on the toast. The atmosphere is fun and there is plenty to look at, and everyone working is always super nice and friendly. I will definitely continue to come to Gypsy Joynt when I come visit home! definitely check it out!
Everything about this restaurant was absolutely lovely! The staff were so nice and pleasant! Food was presented deliciously hot at my table, very yummy. Although the prices are a bit pricey this place definitely does not disappoint; especially with the beauty of its decorations inside, it feels so magical you never want to leave :) The breakfast menu sounds just as appetizing and I am looking forward to ordering breakfast here one day!
Different type of atmosphere but nice! Family run restaurant with great tasting food. We stopped in for breakfast after trying to get seated at Waffle House. The food was much better! Slightly higher in cost, but well worth it. The cinnamon roll was very good! We were so full, we skipped lunch. We had breakfast.
Everything I’ve tried from here has been so good. I figured they’re definitely deserving of a 5 star review. Today we went for breakfast and the food was outstanding as usual. I had a breakfast bowl with potatoes, grilled chicken, queso, scrambled eggs topped with verde salsa. Hubby had the biscuit and gravy, fried chicken, fried egg with sriracha. The iced honey bear coffee is sinful and I get it every time. Love this family and what they’re doing. They put nothing but love into their food and it shows. 10/10.
My fiancé and I LOVE Gypsy Joint. Everyone is always so nice and the burgers are to die for! The restaurant is also so cute inside.

People were super friendly. Menu is huge and so are their burgers. Made fresh with fresh ingredients. Place is fun and some say its pricy, but its cost no more than other places in town.

Ordered to go. The food was okay. We got the All American and the Shroom. The burgers are big size wise, veggies are fresh , buns are good but the meat patty was dry. The fries were cold. Dessert , we got the banana pudding which was fine. Nothing specially. It came cold and in a Chinese container.
The service was decent and attentive.\nThe prices were rather high and the Food.. it was literally the worst tasting pizza sauce I've had in my life.
Yummy breakfast items. Super fresh. Highly recommend. A little pricey, but worth it. Great atmosphere.
This was a cool little place! Plenty of food options. Friendly staff. Yummy pizza! They have live entertainment in the evenings!
We had good food and affordable prices, but too much wait for the food was coming. Waitress were really nice. It looks like a nice place with friends. Only one choice of beer. No wine

This is 4th time in a row they screw my burger a simple task of cooking a patty well. They just simply never thought how to cook a patty.. I thought my 9 year old and she does Better job when I’m watching her. The way it comes it’s never cook loyalty uneven raw meat everywhere which is basically seared, and when I ask to be well done the give it to me burnt so I thought I ask for medium well and they burnt it even more plus super salty this time. If you going to charge $20 for a burger better teach you cook how to flip a patty.. smh never going Back to this place again. Used to be a lot better when they were on 27th and market. I posted this picture even the AI titled it Charred burger ahaha
