I came here for the memories. I used to work next door before Amazon took over. This would be my go to place for lunch. I consider this place mid price as well as amazing food. Getting any sandwich combo gives you plenty of fries to enjoy. Also dont forget to ask for ranch as they are not stingy with that like other places. I usually get the chicken avocado sandwich or the southwest and the sourdough bread they used is so good. Makes you want to come back for more. Also realistically the burgers are a decent size to share them on a budget.

Have been going here for 4 years now and love the food. My favorite is the South Western chicken sandwhich and my wife's favorite is the Santa Fe Burger, we usuall share orders of Onion rings and Fried Zuccini. Juat had their Crème brûlée and it was amazing.

On this visit I had the breakfast melt sandwich for dinner. It has ham, bacon, fried eggs (yes, two eggs), tomatoes and cheese on grilled sourdough with 1000 island dressing. Was absolutely 💯% delicious. My family also loves their French Toast for dinner sometimes. The people that work here are amazingly friendly and really seem to appreciate my business. The ladies up front work very hard to make sure your order is exactly the way it was ordered. Tipping them is the right thing to do (good karma too!) even if you're going drive-thru or take-out, they are that good here. I walked out of there paying about $35 for 3 meals last night. So it's a good deal for a quality meal too. I most definitely recommend John's!

Their menu is pretty impressive but I've mostly stuck to burgers/fries and onion rings which are all really good. Need to branch out and try the rest like breakfast.

The Old World Burger makes this place a local landmark. It's located near Millikan High School in Long Beach on Spring Street just east of Palo Verde. Great menu with a wide variety of choices. Their fish and chips are great! My wife loves their cold turkey sandwich. Their French 🍟 fries are fantastic. We drive about 6 miles to come here to pick up and take home. But they have a nice indoor seating area Highly recommended!

Incredible food and nice employees! Cost was comparable to Carl's, where I'd only go for fast food until I tried John's. The menu is extensive, so it'll take me and my granddaughters a while to fully appreciate the total package.🤭

Pretty neat place with an expansive, unexpected variety to menu and lots of different daily specials. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with some great onion rings. Most places the thought/picture of the onion rings is way better than the actual presentation. These ones lived up to those. Will go back when I'm in the area to try different items.

Definitely recommend this place! The menu has something for everyone; breakfast, lunch and dinner all day. The staff are friendly and kind. I've had many burgers and family has had multiple other dishes and everyone has been happy with he food. Plus the bread pudding is huge and amazing along with the rice pudding! I love John's, I've been coming here for 10+ years. Excellent value for size of the meals. Drive through gets crazy through out the day, so calling in orders is a good idea. But really it's all very good, I've had everything fun their gyros to breakfast burritos to salads to, of course, their hamburgers. They have a great combo of onion rings and fries they call Frings, it's good stuff. Definitely recommend!

John's is great. There is a little bit of a wait most of the time, but the food is so delicious you won't mind. They have the best breakfast burritos I've had in Long Beach. This is also my go to Long Beach spot for gyros and bread pudding. Yes, bread pudding. Which I am enjoying a belly full of right this moment.

Huge burger, perfect fries, unique BBQ sauce - everything was delicious! Paid $15 for a double western bbq cheeseburger + small fries. I'd say that's not bad at all for how generous they are with the burger size and dipping sauce.

Can’t go wrong with this burger place. One of the few non- chains out there that is one of the best. My favorite is the Old World Burger. It’s large enough to cut in half and have the other one for later. They’re zucchini is one of the best- better than Louis Burger and better than Fantastic Burger. They’re fries are great also! This is my 3rd visit and each time I have tried something different. Today I tried the Chicken Pot Pie. It was so darn good and flavorful. The filling was well seasoned with a fresh flaky golden crust, served with delicious garlic bread. This is comfort food for real! It's too bad I have to return to work. Side note: The employees are all very friendly. The guy I assume is the owner is a pleasant man as well.

A Long Beach staple for over thirty-five years. I've enjoyed this eatery all the way back in the early 90's, when they were at the old location on Spring St closer to the airport. The burgers and fries are delicious and my favorite, the chef's salad is perfect. The ingredients are all fresh and flavorful. If you're looking for good fast food, don't waste your time at one of the big chains, go to John's Hamburgers on Spring St near Palo Verde Ave.

I've been coming here all the time for breakfast before going to Pinball at I Need a Miracle. I absolutely love the pancake breakfast special and it's always been delivered so quick and it hasn't affected the food or service quality somehow.

Great food and good service. I ordered the daily special which was the homemade chicken pot pie and every bite was great. It had a layer of crust both on top and on the bottom which was sweet and buttery. It also came with a slice of garlic bread which was tasty.

My teenage son is always hungry, and lately very into cheeseburgers. He can eat 2 double cheeseburgers at fast food chains and be hungry shortly after. I saw a recommendation that John's has great burgers, so we tried John's Old World burgers and wow! He wasn't able to finish at all at once. For me, the flavor and quality of the burger and toppings is far superior to fast food chains. I've also gotten one of their salads and the Cali mushroom burger and it's so much better than normal fast food. Since the big chains have raised their prices, paying $15 for the Old World Combo is probably the same as I'd pay for enough food at the big chains, yet it is so much better! Enough fries to share, and I'm guessing without all the additives the big chains use in their food.

Best food in town. Generous helpings of meat vegetables. I get the hot pastrami sandwich. Will be back.

I normally don’t leave many reviews for any businesses, but I have gone to John’s since it first opened. All of the staff are friendly, helpful, and kind…except one person (who is the owner’s son). Every time I go in, he is usually sitting at a table making rude remarks or roaming around making faces along with his rude remarks. One specific incident was when I ordered 1 pancake on the side (for my children) and he mumbled under his breath in front of me, “she doesn’t need a pancake.” And walked away. The cashier even looked appalled. He clearly can not handle any children crying or making any noise because he always gets very irritated and makes comments and faces whenever I am with my children. John’s would be 5 out of 5 across the board if he didn’t “work” there (if that is what you consider working). I feel bad for all of the real hard working employees there.

I've been eating here since the day they opened and have never been disappointed with anything on the menu, the owner John and his right hand man Danny are as solid as they come, before John opened they were the owners of heritage off carson and paramount which was another positive review in itself, When you come say hello to John and Danny, Wednesday is Spaghetti special for only $ 13.50 and I drive 20 minutes for it. Try the butterfinger cheesecake! It's on Danny's secret menu 😋

this is a diner disguised as a burger stand. they have so many delicious, homemade specialty items. Meatloaf, pot pies, ribs etc. they also have the standard burger stand items. their fried zucchini is so so delicious as are the burgers. my favorite thing is their potato salad, but I think it's a summer time thing. I also love love love their beef stew which is available on Saturdays. The service is phenomenal! these are the nicest, most helpful people around. I love this place

World Burger reminds me of six dollar burger I used to eat at Carl's Jr. It's big and juicy with good sauce and condiments. Will go again after ⛳️ to get my burger fixes. Drive thru was bit painful to wait but it's not McDonald's so cannot complain much about it.

Came here to order breakfast and overwhelmed by the portion control. 😂 I order bacon and eggs with country potatoes. They served my food so fast that I didn’t finish setting up my coffee. First time at John's. Found it on Google maps, and just as promised, it was one of those great burger joints we are used to in SoCal. Got the original burger and onion rings. The burger tasted like it was fresh off the back yard grill. The flavor and char were PERFECT! The half-order of onion rings were still over the top, can't imagine a full order. I wish i had room to try one of the soups or the beef stew. I will definitely be back to give those a try. 100% delicious!

Holy cow..I always drive by this spot and have never been like, "ooh let me try it out", (especially it being right next to a high school and swarmed with kids) until it was recently recommended. Damn was I sleeping on them! It's super nice and tidy, cute artwork all over the wall, cashiers/servers are kind and helpful. They have a huge menu, everything sounds mouthwatering, would definitely come back to try out other dishes. Dined in with my family, had the chicken avocado club (THICK CHICKEN 🤤), western bacon cheeseburger (Smoky BBQ 👌) and the heart stopper (Pairs well with A1 sauce 🔥) 🤯🤯🤯 SUUUUUUUPPEERRRR FIRE 💯

I've never had a problem with John's. I always either get the spinach and feta omelette or southwestern chicken sandwich with avocado instead of bacon because they're both so damn good. This time though, I ordered the southwestern chicken sandwich with avocado instead of bacon, and they forgot the chicken... Other than that one issue, this is my go to place for drive thru food.

John's is great for patio dining or drive thru. If you are doing drive thru give yourself some time. The line is often long but it is worth it because they don't precook their food. When you get it, it is hot! They have a big selection of items to order and they don't scrimp on anything! This is on our go to list for regular, easy meals.

With so many non-chain burger joints in California, I don't understand why people go to the chain places. This place has a drive thru but also tables both inside and outside. I tried about every burger there and they all been great. My favorite is the Old World Burger. Fries are crispy and golden brown. I wish I lived closer so I could go more often.

Staff could be a little kinder but the food is delicious. They get pretty busy so I get they are rushed. I love the California Mushroom burger and my husband loves the old world burger and chili cheese fries

Steak sandwich is great here. And so are their fried zucchini sticks. I enjoy them with 1000 island dipping sauce. Devoted friendly staff. Don't forget to tip. Update: Steak sandwiches still delicious on June 16th 2021, however, the last few visits, my steak sandwich has had too much gristle and fat on it. Could be a supply issue.

While this isn't my first pick the food is just fine. Service was wonderful and the outdoor eating area is lovely. They survived COVID and people I care about eat here all the time so if you're wanting a cute simple place to get some food this is a good place to try.

Some of the best food around. A local gem that usually employs local students who are very eager to please. Kind helpful staff who prepares some American classics almost as good as "mamma" used to make. The only draw back is the wait but to make food this good and this fresh it does take a little time. Highly recommend this place.

Good flavor and prices but somewhat slow service. I got the "Old World" burger, a spiced-up and herby burger. Felt somewhat on the dryer side but it was tasty. I got an X-large fries and it was closer to the small size of other joints, and not as crunchy as they look. I came in after the lunch rush and it still took ~15 minutes for that order. I do recommend the place, plus it has a nice patio area outside.

Long time establishment and I know why... the food portions are generous, fresh and so good! The Turkey, Swiss and avocado sandwich was simple, but very satisfying. The French toast was perfect and the pancake plate was more than ample. The restaurant has a small town feel with friendly staff. Definitely worth checking out and I will be returning!

This is a good place to get a quick bite pick up food and take home. It's actually a small chain there's one in Palm Springs Ira highly recommend the tortilla soup it is crowded mostly at breakfast lunch and dinner in between those times there's no crowd more crowded on Saturday and Sunday at breakfast great spot for a quick meal you can eat order eat and leave within 45 minutes or less.

When we first decided to go here. We were thinking it was going to be sit down and order type place. But that’s not what we got. It’s a fast food order over the counter. Although most of the food is served on a nice plated plate. My wife ordered a breakfast burrito, which did not have a ton favor. I order bacon avocado cheeseburger. It also was very bland, although the fries were fresh and just okay. Overall portion sizes were really good. You can order plated food. Prices are fairly inexpensive. Food is less than flavorful.

The portion size is nice here. I think they give you a lot to make up for the fact that the food is bland. It's basically greasy spoon fast food. It's very fresh. I'll give them that. Just not much flavor happening. This review could easily go up if they improved at all in that arena.

according to the name, you'd think they would have good hamburgers. I got the Santa Fe burger thinking it would be flavorful and a bit spicy, it was neither. the meat was bland and for a 6 dollar burger, I'd go to in n out every time and save 2 dollars and get a better burger which is fresher than this. my buddy got the breakfast burrito with sausage and he said it was pretty good but nothing special. anybody can make a good breakfast burrito so I'm not impressed. I don't typically give poor reviews but I was let down for sure.

I ordered a pastrami sandwich. It wasn’t very good. It wasn’t a flavorful pastrami there was some type of sauce on it and the French roll was definitely not very good. The sandwich was very soggy. The onion rings and zucchini sticks were good and plentiful. The menu was large and I will go try something else. Patio dog friendly.

I only go to this John’s when I’m too far from Volcano Burgers on Cerritos across from Los Al High School or John’s on Cerritos and Denni. This John’s is ok. Burgers are good but fries are soggy. The service is always as if you’re interrupting them from life. Ugh!!! When I do go there I make it a point to be super nice and tip thinking that might help…uh no not one bit. Makes me sad because the other John’s has THE BEST SERVICE!!! like you’re family joining them for a Sunday night dinner. I make it a point to support mom and pop shops and restaurants because that’s the foundation of this country. Food, service and atmosphere are all so important.

Turkey Swiss avocado melt- had almost no flavor and felt like it was missing something like a sauce or seasoning. Bacon Breakfast Burrito- No salt, bacon was just in the middle and not spread out evenly. Came in an orange tortilla but it was good Cheeseburger plain- was decent but patty tasted like it was frozen. We had to settle for a plain cheeseburger for our kid since they don’t offer kids meals at all The service was okay. I noticed the reviews said service was hit or miss and that seems it be true. I went up to grab a refill and what looked like the owner, saw me with my cup and no lid, walked to the back of the kitchen, came out the kitchen, saw me again went outside and came back in and looked bothered to be refilling. Overall, food was mediocre at best, and service was half good half bad.

Food was ok. A bit salty. However not nearly as salty as the drive thru windows associate. So sorry the menu online advised “breakfast served all day” so we were unaware the biscuits and gravy were an exception to this rule. Also seemed very inconvenienced by inquiring about a to go menu. So sorry as the price online did not match what we just got charged. Happy to have finally tried it, but doubt we will be coming back.

Mos def a fan of onion rings that are "hand made" and saw that this establishment advertises such. Been planning to check the burger too, because I am also a fan of burgers and thought that the charbroiled situation and high reviews would bear out a schlep and patronage. Went today. Place was bumpin and the drive thru was full--good signs. Ordered up a double cheeseburger and onion rings which added up to mere pennies from $20!!! and no drink!!! Onion rings were stiff, kinda stale and lacking any real flavor at all. Texture was strongest attribute and presented as kinda cardboardish. Not gratifying. Burger meat was greasy, texture also kinda weird and the char was identifiable but too charcoal-y and stronger than the burger or the seasoning. Veggies on the burger were sad and mushy. I would put this combo on the 7-11/free school lunch metric. Atmosphere was Bflat. I ate seven hours ago and I am still reliving the errant flavors in burps as well as a general not feeling super good tummy reality. Low quality food does this. The register employee seemed like maybe at work was not the place she wanted to be. Reasonable. Twenty dollars all told? Unreasonable. One hit is all John's gets from me because in America your only real "vote" is where you spend your money. Peace!!!

Noticed something strange. The majority of customers seemed white. Our family was the only non-white. Our numbers were yelled out to go pick up our order while all the other people got it taken to their table. One time, could be a mistake. But then another non-white family came in and the same thing happened. Last time we will be eating here, avoid if you're n NOT WHITE. Good food though.

This review is based only on their rice pudding. Every time I buy their rice pudding the rice is very under cooked. Sometimes it is crunchy. The flavor is there, but the hard rice really brings the rating down. Please cook your rice until the rice is soft.

I used to love this place but the last few times I have gone we have always had food come out cold. The sausage in my husband's breakfast plate was cold once. We gave it another try and the patty on a burger was cold. Tried one more time and our pancakes were raw in the Middle. When it's good it's good but this happened too often.

Cheeseburger drive-through review only: Read a review for "solid fast food." Sounded good. Not so much: Asked for double cheeseburger. Even repeated it. Repeated the toppings too. They gave me a single hamburger. Me: "I asked for a double cheeseburger." Them: "I charged you for a hamburger." Me: "Fine. Can I pay the difference and get a double cheeseburger? You can just add to this one--all the toppings are fine." I pay. I wait. I eat. It was a big MEHBURGER. Bun and meat sort of dissolve into mush--there's no structure to the bread or meat, so you barely have to chew it. Buns not toasted like In-N-Out. The meat is thick relative to a McDs patty, which seemed great, but zero beef flavor. It wasn't very hot either. Very unsatisfying. Only ate half & didn't want to finish it. I'll see if my feral backyard kitties want the meat tonight. It's possible their other food is great, but not sure I'm willing to try.

The absolute worst breakfast burrito I've ever had. Very doughy tasting, very little potatoes and cheese. Paid three bucks extra for the bacon and it wasn't worth it. Slow service and bad food here.

Don't get me wrong! I love the food BUT one of my favorite meals more than half the time they won't make but it's on the menu! How hard is it to make country gravy! I look forward every weekend for that most wonderful breakfast and only to be disappointed by being told they did not make the gravy! 5 stars for the wonderful food but 1 star for not being consistent with serving a menu item they advertise. :(

How do you offer hamburger steak and only have mashed potatoes and gravy on Thursdays. Plus all the good food they make it only on certain days. When you have a variety of food like they try to sell how do not have gravy. Waste of time Fantastic a least has everything you want to order. The friendliness and kindness of the staff is a hit and miss. There are staff that are friendly and there are staff who should probably take a nap or work a non people job. Kindness is clearly not part of the restaurants culture. Personally, kindness and friendliness (like what you get at Starbucks and at in an out) are key to me but understand that may not be important to everyone else. The cooks do an outstanding job and should get the tips as certain front line staff can drain your energy and day. Cost: not cheap- 20 bucks for a double hamburger special.

Dirty and rundown. I ordered a cheeseburger with no tomato or pickle because I am allergic to tomatoes, they gave me a burger with tomatoes on it and pickles, I had an allergic reaction to the tomatoes and had to go to the hospital. this place should be shut down.

Used to be a regular customer here and tonight reminded me of why we quit coming here. The service is terrible. We ordered a chicken sandwich combo $14.50, and a pulled pork dinner combo ($9.95 per the sign in the window) and a small side salad ($2.95 per the website)....they gave us a total of $35.50. Seemed a little high so we asked to see our receipt before paying and got nothing but attitude from the girl in the drive thru. An older gentleman came over after a minute and told us to "ignore the website, lots of things have changed from there." Anyway....if you go expect to pay much higher prices than their signage and website indicate for bland food made with attitude. Too many choices in LB to care enough to come back.

We went through the drive-thru and got lentil soup. We specifically asked if there was ham in it and were told no. Got home and there are huge chunks of ham in it. We do not eat ham. I called and reported this. I asked for a refund. It's late and the restaurant is closing in 15 minutes so we won't be going back tonight. I have a busy day tomorrow. Maybe we'll be able to get back this weekend. Most places take your name down and when you come back in with the receipt give you a refund. We have to bring the soup back. So I have to put the food in my refrigerator and save it until I make it back there. I personally will not go back after I get my refund. The food isn't that great and it's gotten expensive. 16.75 for a hamburger steak dinner with onion rings which is basically ground meat with some mushrooms and onions on top. Boo John's!

We've been going to this burger joint for sometime now but the last few visits haven't been the best but today it took the cake. The food sucked, the burger was made very sloppy my chicken sandwich looked like something out a horror movie. Do not go there to spend your money on poor food quality, bad service, and negative atmosphere. Won't be going there again ever, take my advise!!!

Ordered a side salad. Got it enclosed in a plastic carton. When I opened it a large black bug; maybe a beetle of some kind was crawling around in it. Called John's and the manager said "Yea, thats going to happen. We do our best to make sure their are none in the lettuce and Wash it twice." Not sure about that and offered a $4 refund for the salad. Never going back.
