Miramar Beach Restaurant El Granada Reviews
I'm going to say that I am biased in this review. My family has been going here for 20 years, at least. Love the view, piano music and history of this place. I have never had a bad meal here and the service has always been outstanding. Plenty of parking. Look forward to the next 20 years.
Celebrated son's 18th birthday here with dinner after a beach day with his two besties. The SUPER -ATTENTIVE staff made it EASY to relax and enjoy ourselves, a family that includes a young adult who is blind and my husband in a wheelchair. Food was EXCELLENT; our party had the risotto, seafood ravioli, the paella, the catch of the day (sand dabs), oysters, seafood chowder, calamari... highly recommended dishes... oh and tiramisu and creme brulé! We've eaten here at least three times recently; we WILL be back... next time to enjoy the lovely fire pit space outdoors!
where to go in SV: Miramar Beach in Half Moon Bay. long beach (3-4 miles) , v few people (pix is Labor Day Weekend at 5pm). v good for dogs. go at low tide. go to Miramar Beach Restaurant. Great food, great friendly service. outdoor patio w tables and sofas. mellow crowd. it's not crowded. we went at 12:15 pm on Saturday and there was no line. seated immediately by the window. we had a house salad and Paella. it was delicious. enough for both of us. very good service. laaaarge afterwards, we walked on the beach. 45 min from Palo Alto. 30 min from SF.
Came here June 11, 2022 on a Saturday evening, the fog parted and it offered a fantastic clear view. Got seated right away with a view one table away from the window. Ordered Miramar House Salad, the greens, cucumber, and blue cheese dressing were fresh and crunchy. The Calamari Steak was tender with steamed vegetables and rice pilaf. For dessert the flourless chocolate cake with Belgian semi-sweet chocolate was a perfect complement to round out the meal. The server was polite and refilling of the water was prompt. The live music was very much appreciated adding the relaxing atmosphere.
We came to this lovely place in accordance with Google reviews, spot on. Excellent beachside restaurant with very good selection of seafood. We ordered shrimps, scallops and 2 cocktails all very good. We’re occasional visitors to California (from Turkey) we’ll definitely come again next time we’re here, thanks !
Beautiful historic restaurant, would love to tour the upstairs sometime. Would be a nice place for a special, romantic dinner. I had the seafood paella today, it is rich and flavorful. Fish is a hair overcooked but the rest of the seafood in it is perfect. Will always come back to this amazing place!
We found our new favorite restaurant in Half Moon Bay. After an exceptional day on Tunitas creek beach we were seeking a casual spot for dinner and drinks. We were pleased to discover Miramar Beach Restaurant! The food, the service, the live piano and the view of the mavericks at sunset made our first visit a memorable and enjoyable one. Great service and well prepared meals at a reasonable price. The full bar is nice too!
Chilling outside, but the pitch lighted up makes it so warm and comfortable. We came here several times, but it was crowded. But we are lucky enough to have the seat or dining outside with the parking space. We took Margaret and some bites. Great as expected. I will try another dish next time. After this brunch, we took a walk along the beach and the trails nearby. Better revisit here, enabling you to be in a terrific mood!
First, view is gorgeous, right next to the water, you can sit indoors or out. We chose the recommended dishes, everything was delicious and flavourful. Maria, our server was friendly and often stopped at our table. We left way after the restaurant closed, we were never asked to leave or take it outside. It is loud indoors, not a quiet romantic place, but definitely a fun place.
Watermelon and arugula salad. It was a large portion, and excellent. The dinner was served with bread and butter for the table. The menu looks a little pricey at first, but the portions match. Service was top notch. Extremely scenic surroundings right on the beach, and live piano music.
We stumbled upon this gem at exactly the right time! Driving up the coast on a Thursday, we decided we were hungry and started searching for food in Half Moon Bay. We arrived about 4:30 and were seated even though we did not have a reservation. We had the Thursday special which was surf and turf with salad and a lemon bar for desert for only $19.95! The food came out quickly and as we dined we saw people start to pour in and realized how lucky it was that we had gotten there early! They even had a piano player! Both the food and the service were wonderful and we would definitely go there again!
The hubby and I came upon this place when our date night restaurant closed down. After a couple of months coming to the Miramar, we knew this was our new go-to place. We love the vibe, we love all the wonderful people here, and Terry, the piano man is awesome. Fast forward to the current time, it's now been close to about 15 years since our first visit, and we we still love everything about the Miramar ❤️❤️❤️😊😊😊 oh, and the 🍹🍸 are also amazing, as well as the sunsets 🌅
This is one of my favorite places to visit in Half Moon Bay with my dogs! If you are interested in being as close to the beach as possible with your meal time, this is the place! There is an outdoor element that has tables, and if you get lucky, you can find availability next to one of the 2 fire pits 😄 it has a glass wall to prevent wind from challenging the experience. Otherwise indoor is fabulous too! They have seating along the glass wall to maximize beach view and a neat bar with an occasional piano player (there's a fire place inside too!). Food is pretty good (I always get the oysters Rockefeller!). Servers are always very friendly. The host could use a nice warm smile 🥰
1st time at Miramar Beach Restaurant and their food was delicious. We started off by sharing their Crab Louie Salad. It had a lot of delcious crab, so good. I had the Sole Dore which was delicious and cooked perfect. My wife had the Peppercorn Steak and she loved it. For dessert, we shared their Bread Pudding which was awesome. The place had a lot of great old photos which was really cool. The sunset views were spectacular. Our waiter was very friendly and humorous. We will be back to try the other dishes.
I love this place. My mom, sister and I love to come here at least once a month and it’s always great. The food is great, but the service is even better. We are always lucky enough to be served by Luis. He is awesome, he is always attentive and already knows how we like our food. He also decorates our drinks and make us laugh. I recommend this place.
Great unrestricted views overlooking the ocean and good service. Went here for a late brunch and the place was packed. We managed to find a table close to the window. We started with some Mimosas 🥂and beer 🍺 and for the main course ordered the following: Diablo Prawn 🍤 Oysters Miramar 🦪 Garlic Cheese Bread 🥖 Miramar (Crab cakes) Benedict 🦀 The food was delicious and the server was gracious to serve an extra beer (after 3) without any charge.
Very nice restaurant, insides deep brown wood. Our group sat outside with a view of the ocean. They had amazing clam chowder. It was nice and hot with a lot of clams. The portions are large, and we all shared them with our spouses. The captains platter is huge. It's all fried seafood but really tasty. Our friends had the Piella, it's a huge serving.
Do not miss eating at this restaurant. They are located right by the ocean and have outdoor seatings with heaters on and indoors with live music. The vibe in both sections are completely different. Very pretty restaurant. About food: One of the best sea foods I have tasted. We ordered alskan fish and chips, which were very crisp and so fresh ( must try) and crab cakes which was so well made. We also ordered hot chocolate but didn’t like it much. But nevertheless this is definitely worth visiting restaurant.
I always wanted to stop by here everything I drove highway 1, and finally today my girlfriend and I had the chance to stop and enjoy some fresh sea food. When we got there around 2pm on a Saturday it wasnot super busy. We got a nice table inside by the window with a nice view of the ocean. Our server was very nice and professional. We ordered a cheese garlic bread for appetizer which was very delicious. We then ordered a bowl of their clam chowder and their sea food captain platter. Food was great. You can easily taste the freshness of them. Service was quick and perfect. Also many parking spots available during our visit. Definitely recommended if you're in the area.
Miramar has a beautiful setting right down on the ocean front. I have been going there occasionally for many years, but the food has definitely improved from past years. The cheese bread was worth the calories! I had a tri-tip sandwich and my friend had fish tacos, both really fresh and delicious.
My recent visit to Half Moon Bay - Miramar Beach Restaurant was delightful! Arriving just before sunset, I was seated at a perfect table offering a stunning view of the setting sun and the soothing sounds of the crashing Pacific waves. I opted for the catch of the day, grilled sea bass, which was incredibly delicious. After dinner, I took a stroll to enjoy the surrounding area, adding to the memorable experience filled with amazing views and yummy food!
Enjoyed an early birthday lunch there today. The restaurant is on the water and great views from each seat. It is dog friendly and had outside seating on a heated patio. We ordered, the Calamari Picante, Diablo Shrimp and Cheesy Garlic Bread for appetizers, very tasty! Entrees ordered were the Seafood Pallela and Scallops and Shrimp over Angel Hair Pasta. The Pallela was just okay, not spicy enough for my cousin's taste. The Scallop and Shrimp entrees were really awful, bland, and tasteless. The waitress was great... she offered to change the order and we got the Captains Seafood Platter...that was delicious.
We had such a great time on Valentine's Day. It was one of my good friends anniversary. I mean, we had a blast. The drinks were on hit they were potent. They were beautifully decorated with fruit and a umbrella. The obvious of the ocean was breathtaking. The atmosphere was very lively. The guest were very friendly the waiter his name was Juan He is exceptional he made sure we had everything we needed. Kept checking on us first we had our drink and had lots of laughs he checked back to make sure we like our drink and I told him was superb. He couldn't have done better if he tried. The famous Mai Thai. With that ocean crashing up against the rocks, the beautiful sun set & the sparkles on the ocean. We had a wonderful table right near the water didn't have to wait long. The food was really good. I ordered a steak baked potato with butter. My husband had the captains platter he said the portion could've been larger. He's a big man. He said he didn't get full, but the food was really good & the hospitality was great. My girlfriend had the clam chowder soup so did her husband with seafood. You get complementary bread and butter. Very tasty. I want to give a shout out to one our waiter who had excellent customer service. He made sure the drinks were good. He came to our table to make sure we had everything we wanted all night long thumbs up Juan for excellent service. I want to point out. They have a fire pit surrounded with cheers you can have a nice dinner out there. It is very beautiful. Keeps you warm as you eat dinner enjoy your beverage and watch the ocean crash up against the rocks ! Great place to dine. Try it I promise you will like it.
We went for happy hour (only at the bar). Even though the bar place was packed, service was quick! Happy hour is half off beer, well liquors, and wine. We ordered artichoke heart cakes as an appetizer and it was phenomenal! My husband had the burger with fries. He loved it, and said it was the perfect burger, but wished the onions were cooked. Quick note: when the server asks if bacon, mushrooms, cheese, etc is good with you, it doesn't mean it comes on the burger. It's an extra charge and ended up being an additional $8... I had the lobster quesadilla and it was amazing! I don't like mango, but it went really well with this meal! There was a pianist playing beautifully while we enjoyed views of the ocean and sunset. We also enjoyed talking with a lady we were sitting beside.
Stopped in for brunch on Sunday and it was everything I thought it would be. I ordered an omelette and two adult beverages. From the fresh ingredients, portion size and how everything looked. It was all exceptional. Service was fast and highly professional. Pricing dips on the high side but considering the above and the location, expected. There is some parking but I was on a walk. I would most definitely recommend and even set outside if you have the chance.
Loved the chicken piccatta, perfectly prepared! My family had various fish dishes, all enjoyed. The flourless chocolate cake was very rich, like the inside of a chocolate truffle, divine! The guy on the piano was very entertaining! Ocean views. The historic building had pictures and origin information on the walls. We did spend about $200 for 4 people but we did get drink and dessert.
Super wonderful place to go with the family after a long beach day. Great piano player with wonderful waiter service. I don't think my soda was empty once and we had anything we need in a jiff. I Had an absolute amazing time. The food was Incredible as well.
Love this place, don't get here often enough...have never sat inside for dining because I don't want to sit inside a restaurant a couple dozen feet from the beach when I could sit outside. The fish tacos are great as is the French dip. The service is and always has been fantastic. They are also dog friendly on the patio.
I woke up this morning with a powerful urge for a Crab Louie, and after looking around the kitchen for a fresh crab...I realized a roadtrip to the Miramar Beach Restaurant would soon be required. I had my coffee and a light breakfast, and a full tank of fuel in the truck so all I had to do was prep myself for the 70 or so mile drive! Sometimes you just crave something so strongly that you just can't resist, and for me when it's a Ctab Louie...It's got to be from the Miramar Beach Restaurant. Always a 5 ☆☆☆☆☆ experience!
One of our absolute favorite spots in town! We've been coming here for years and it's always perfect. The food is consistently delicious, fresh, and full of flavor -- no matter what we order, it never disappoints. What we love even more is how dog-friendly they are. Every time we bring our pup, they treat us (and him!) like family. It's really rare to find a place that cares this much about their customers and their pets. Amazing food, great service, warm atmosphere -- highly recommended for anyone looking for a quality meal and a place where your dog is also welcome. We'll definitely keep coming back!
We visited for Happy Hour and the top shelf cocktails were fantastic. High quality ingredients and friendly bartenders. The drinks were artistry, with sensational attention to detail. The customer service staff here seems to enjoy working here as much as we enjoyed visiting. Recommend the French 75 and the Margarita! 5 Stars.
Nice place, beautiful views! The restaurant is always packed to I recommend arriving early if you want to get a first row table! Our server was very kind, the food in general was good. Salmon was delicious, perfectly cooked, my fried shrimp too! Except for my calamari that was over cooked and tasted like rubber, the Mac n cheese from the kids menu looks like the Kraft one! Bread pudding was good but that sort of chocolate cake not really! They had live music, which made our lunch! We will definitely come back!
Been coming to this restaurant for years and the food and service are consistently excellent. Had an old fashion here today, it was strong and delicious. Their crab cakes, artichoke cakes, sole, crab melt, flourless chocolate cake and chocolate fondant cake were so delicious today. Really nice view from the bay as well.
Miramar Beach Restaurant delivers a memorable coastal dining experience with its unbeatable oceanfront location and relaxed outdoor seating. The atmosphere is casual yet charming, with views of the Pacific that elevate even a simple lunch into something special. Service is attentive and friendly, with staff who are happy to offer recommendations and accommodate shared plates. For starters, the Cajun pot is a standout—spicy, aromatic, and perfect for sharing. It sets the tone for a flavorful meal. On the lunch menu, the grilled chicken sandwich is a popular choice, featuring a juicy, well-seasoned chicken breast on a soft bun with crisp lettuce. It’s often served with golden onion rings and a tangy barbecue sauce, as shown in the attached image. The portion sizes are generous, making it easy to split dishes among friends or family. Whether you're stopping by for a casual lunch or a scenic dinner, Miramar Beach Restaurant offers a satisfying mix of comfort food, coastal ambiance, and warm service. It’s a great spot to unwind and enjoy the view.
Nice little place situated along the Pacific coast. Food was pretty good. Some items lacked flavor, but overall, a good time. Bonus is they are pet friendly. They can bring a dog bowl of water and you can order something for your pooch. Parking is adequate, however, can be challenging sometimes as people park in their lot to access the beach. I watched it happen. The outdoor patio is the place to eat. Enjoy the brisk air, brilliant sun and the salty oven water.

Very dog friendly. Amazing service. Beautiful view. Great food and drinks. Highly recommend this place if you’re visiting Half Moon Bay.
Right on the water and great food. What could be better! Piano bar added to the ambience. Eggs benedict was perfect. Pleasant attentive waitstaff. Large menu.
This is a "must go to" restaurant! Literally steps from the ocean. Great view, friendly staff, delicious food, and amazing adult beverages. The bar area sits in the middle of the dining room. Smart, because it allows for more people getting an ocean view. The bar is totally like a sports bar on any game day. Everyone talking and cheering. The heated outside patio is lovely. Enclosed with approximately 10 foot clear panels, it stays warm on breezy days with gas fire pit tables with lounging sofas. Or, dining tables with gas space heaters. All this while enjoying the ocean view. But, a bonus, the patio is dog friendly. Pets are great conversation starters. This restaurant always has a great vibe. But, remember, you receive what you put out. So go there ready to say "Hi" to strangers. Be ready to smile at random dogs. Be ready to ask the staff how they feel and thank them for being kind. I have noticed the more I engage with the servers, hostess and bartenders, the more personable my visit becomes.
The review depends whether you are sitting inside (3 stars) or outside (4 stars). Inside it is way too loud, likely because of bad acoustic properties of the dining room: We visited this location when it was at about 30 percent capacity and it was almost impossible to have a conversation or talk to the waiter. Outside the problem naturally does not occur. The food is ok and our waiter was professional. In total, we paid $55 including tip for two adults with a main dish each and a soda each.
Great service, amazing sunset view. Dogs are allowed on the patio. They even brought a water bowl out! The clam chowder, the shrimp appetizer and the cheesy, garlic bread were great! The wine by the glass selection was plentiful. The ladies bathroom was clean. However, the artichoke cake, fresh artichoke appetizer, and the fish n' chips were just ok.
Delicious food with amazing ocean views. A must-visit for all seafood lovers. I had the whole crab and my wife had the petrale sole. For appetizers, we had crab cakes and I have the oysters on a half shell. For dessert, I had the tiramisu and she had the salted caramel cake. Both were very delicious. She also enjoyed the lemon drop martini and I had prosecco. The wait staff were very attentive and always checked to see if we needed anything. Will visit again, and again, and again.
Didn't try the food, but met the owner and he was super chill and humble. Staff is on point and luv the view. I come here sometimes to have an Irish coffee.
My boyfriend and I went to this place recently, and it was good ! Right by the ocean with outdoor seating and a cool terrace. Inside, there are plenty of seats too. The only downside is they seemed a bit short on staff. It took a bit for someone to seat us. The food was pretty good overall, but the coffee was served cold, which bummed me out because I love my coffee hot. We asked for a fresh cup, and they brought it no problem. The oysters and clam chowder were tasty, but the sandwich was just okay, nothing too special. But the vibe was chill, and our server, even though she was busy, was super nice and attentive.
When in Half Moon Bay, this is our go-to spot to take out clients especially when you have sunny days. We usually sit outside and even when it's a bit chilly, the glass partitions and heat lamps keep you warm. Service is casual, attentive, and friendly. Food is good. I had the artichoke soup and house salad with blackened chicken. Love the spices on the chicken. Not much gluten-free options if you have seafood allergies. Paella had an abundance of clams, shrimp, calamari and chorizo sausage. Salmon seems to be a favorite in my group. Reservations aren't taken so first come first serve but the wait for a table isn't long.
All of the food was delicious and good size portions also. I tried the jalapeno margarita and the cucumber margarita, both were good. The jalapeno margarita would have been better if there was more heat to it, but it is still good. We sat inside, next to the window facing the ocean. Dining outdoors would have been nice but it was cold that day. I think even with the heaters I would have been too cold because of the overcast and wind. However, there were definitely quite a few people outside, and they were fine. My sister goes here once a month, so she recommended it for our brunch gathering. I will come back when I am in the area.
Get there right when they open, if your going for Sunday brunch. The view is amazing. Our service was a little slow, but the food was delicious, but expensive. Parking lot can get full and street parking is difficult.
The food was ok. Quite bland. The ceviche was NOT lacking in seafood. We also ordered the calamari and the sole, both dishes were cooked well, just very very bland! We used the lemons from our waters to aid in the flavor. The garden rice was just canned mixed veggies added to it, that was a little disappointing. Francisco, our server was VERY attentive. He was awesome. The view was great. We drove nearly 2 hours for this meal, and aside from the bland part, it was worth it.
This restaurant has OK food with average service. The outdoor seating is amazing because of the views of the water. Chowder was good, fish and chips was ok (too much bread!!) and cake was very good. Service was not really that good but it could be because of the outdoor dining. Restrooms are somewhat clean. Some things should be improved on. 4/5
Old school seafood restaurant that’s been around for decades right on Half Moon Bay. The service was terrific. When my companion’s calamari was delayed, the server brought a bowl of chowder to make up for the delay. The food is more mundane though. The chowder is decent but needs Tabasco. The calamari also needs some spicing. My crab Louie had frozen Dungeness that was still good, as it’s out of season locally. It would have been nice if they had Louie dressing instead of straight thousand island. There was a decent portion of crab. There is an outdoor patio with fire pits, for a really nice hangout on a nice day. The restaurant faces the bay.
We had a nice dinner at Miramar, with a view of the ocean. We started with the artichoke soup and then I had the Pasta Carbonara with prawns and my husband had the Fisherman's Catch. The soup was ok. It was a bit bland. The Pasta Carbonara was very good. The prawns were cooked perfectly, not under or over cooked. The pasta was fresh and the sauce was delicious. The Fisherman's Catch was good although my husband was disappointed that the shrimp were somewhat small.
It was my first visit. There was a very classy gentleman playing the piano inside, which really elevated the atmosphere. The ambiance was lovely. The hostess at the door was doing her job properly—friendly, yet focused solely on doing her job right. I ordered a glass of Cab first, but when you order wine here, the server brings it straight from the bar without showing the label or offering a taste. For a place this classy, that felt surprisingly low-tier. The server was a middle-aged woman. She was polite and did her job professionally. However, even though I asked for my salmon to be medium well, it was undercooked. I felt uncomfortable, but I had no time, so I had to eat it. Overall, I’ll definitely be coming back.
We've eaten here several times over the years, and we've always enjoyed the food and service, plus the ocean views can't be beat. Besides inside, you can dine outside as well, where they have firepits and heaters. They don't take reservations, so we knew to get there early. We were second in line, so we were able to get a window table with a view of the ocean. Our server Juan, was very good and friendly. You get slices of sourdough bread that's very good to start with. We shared a bowl of their seafood chowder that was really good. We had the grilled salmon and the seafood louie with dungeness crab, and both were so good! In fact, you get a lot of crab with the seafood louie. We didn't have room for dessert 😫

good food, good paella. very crowded and loud with piano music. difficult to hear. excellent view to the ocen excellent service just too noisy!!! and crowded
I was a little disappointed with the calamari, almost tasted like they opened a frozen box and heated it up… my mom had a pasta, looked delicious but even she wasn’t too impressed. My husband got the crab ravioli which he states wasn’t too bad. We come from Bodega Bay area which the seafood is fished that very day and super fresh. Our waitress was amazing, and very attentive! Location was beautiful though! Lots of history with the building, and there are old photos everywhere of the history.
Very nice restaurant with good food but serving size is really small. For the price I was expecting a bit more. Crab cakes were nice and the grilled prawns were good and the sauce that came with it was superb. They have a parking where you can park. And a patio seating with tables side fire. Drinks were good and the collection of beer just standard. Views from the restaurant itself were very good. The restaurant is right on the beach and off the highway.
Haven't been here in 14 years..used to be our favorite stop on the way to Santa Cruz. Very poor service from the waitress. We got our drinks (water and iced tea) after our food was delivered and had to ask for them twice. When we walked in the host made a random comment that he doesn't speak Spanish cause "we're in America". ?? I am not Spanish but the people behind us were and they were definitely offended. Also, the food was nowhere near as good as it used to be, much smaller portion and just not as tasty. Not a fan anymore of this place that held such great memories of being there with my husband (now deceased). 😔
I struggled with my rating. The view was fantastic. The outdoor seating was refreshing and our waiter Claudio was amazing. In the end though this is a restaurant and food quality weighs heavily on any evaluation. The soup was very good but the calamari was completely tasteless. My main dish the seafood paella was barely average as the shrimp and fish was cooked to oblivion. The apple pie was average. The drinks again were average.
View was pretty nice. But the food was not so good. We ordered chowder, fish and chips and salmon.
We wanted to be near the beach while dining and Miramar Beach Restaurant fit the bill. There's lots of people working but somehow it seemed like they were stressed. It took a while to get our food, and the presentation was amateurish for the price point. There are restaurants that charge nearly half as much with better presentation and flavor. Only four of the items we ordered had decent flavors (Grilled squid, lobster pot, and clam chowder). But they looked like they were put together in a rush. Some salt and pepper helped, but only so much. The staff were helpful and nice. The customers seemed intrigued with outsiders entering, but we're used to that. Unfortunately the experience wasn't enough to justify the price point. See for yourself.
Food was ok. I ordered crab melt. Hummm. All the crab was slammed in the middle kinda made it hard to eat. So I spread it out. Then found so many shells in my mouth. Had to spit them out at a t…
It’s a shame that such a wonderful place, atmosphere and spectacular views but the food is getting worse and worse…. You’re basically paying for the view, not enjoying the food.. overcooked greens, tasteless fish…..
We were on the patio and the view was spectacular. Aside from that and the history of this place, the food was mediocre, at best. The seafood chowder claimed it had crab and shrimp, but this was simply not true. The inside is much nicer than the patio. From the pictures, it looks neglected and in need of a lot of TLC. Many better choices in Half Moon Bay.
First time here and most likely my last. Really nice location in a beautiful setting. Was seated right away (1:30ish) so busy but not packed. Very pleasant waiter took our order after waiting 20 minutes. The food took a hour and a half to arrive. It was hot so just made but the most disappointing fish and chips I have ever had. For $22 I'm expecting a little more then what looks like a frozen piece of fish and the potation was very small.
Threee of us visited with our dog (who unfortunately jumped up on to the patio seat) - the waitress Valerie was exceptionally rude to us regarding this (in fact she was abrupt and rude throughout o…
