Clean and bright coffee shop located in the Crystal Springs shopping plaza of San Mateo. Very large menu, full of classic breakfast and brunch items to choose from, and the crepes are free! Efficient and friendly staff. Large free parking lot is shared with Safeway and several other restaurants, so it can get kind of busy.

Very comfortable diner with lots of breakfast options and for lunch, they have burgers, salads, sandwiches and more. My turkey melt sandwich was decent with a buttered and grilled sandwich bread. The fries were McDonalds style: thin and crispy. Very strong. Dining room is open and spacious with a community vibe. It’s easy to overhear other conversations, for good or bad. Service is so friendly.

Ordered fish tacos with coleslaw slaw, and everything was delicious from the salmon tacos to the cole slaw with very little cream just the way I love cole slaw to taste.

Ok this is one of those places you discover and wonder how in the blazes is this place so close to me and I never knew it was there? Absolutely, 100% great breakfast place. Had the egg scramble with pancakes and was shocked at how good it was.

Great diner with all your classics. There's more seating here than at the Burlingame location. Staff is friendly and our food always comes out quick. I really enjoy their breakfasts and they make a good liver n onion 😋

Classic diner/coffee shop atmosphere with friendly and attentive service. I ordered standard breakfast eggs, hash brown, pork sausage, and sourdough toast. All cooked exactly how I ordered, not greasy, and tasty. They give you butter packets to add to your toast. Hard to find these sweet classic diner type restaurants with counter seating option. You can also see chefs cooking your food.Very nice experience with food and people.

Excellent cafe menu. Anything you order at this restaurant like yhe teriyaki grill chicken sandwich and the steak dinners where off the hook. Always my first stop before heading to half moon bay. Also the service was very comforting and helpful.

Absolutely love Neal’s!! I usually get their soup and salad combo (vegetable soup is the BOMB!!!), tho sometimes I order their salmon plate with veggies and rice when i want salmon and salmon done right. Sonia is my favorite server—so sweet, kind, personable, never makes you feel rushed. She’s great! The kind gentleman, who remembers what I drink, brings me a glass of soda plus one of those metal canisters that they use for the remainder of a milkshake! Very smart!! It’s like a family there. Very nice place.

My work is not far from Neal's Coffee Shop. My co-workers are the ones who turned me on to Neal's. I fell in love immediately with their food, their service. The chefs are kind, and considerate. They always try to prepare the food the way that you want it. I've been ordering by delivery lately, and they never disappoint. The last time I ordered, and I wanted Onion Rings. They wrote on the receipt, "Sorry we don't have Onion Rings", and they sent me an order of fries. I thought that was so nice, because I had initially said no sides in the order, if they didn't have onion rings. Each time I go in, it's like stepping into a family kitchen. That's the vibe I get. Thank you because I personally don't experience too many places where there is actually good customer service. If you're ever in the area, and you're hungry, consider Neal's. Whatever you get? Breakfast, lunch, or dinner? It's going to be good. Thank you so much for listening.

I discovered this nice stop on the drive down 280 and enjoyed a solid, but basic, breakfast. There was lots of seating (a bit too much for the size of the space), the staff was friendly, and prices were a bit higher than the menus online. My breakfast was good and my tea was strong, I'll be back.

First time here. We sat outside d/t having our pets. Food was good and it tasted fresh. I deducted 1 star for charging $1 for a side of dried up salsa.

Old school diner vibe. Cool counter to belly up to. Straight forward food at a good price.

A good place with nice food choices. I got a burger and it was a good one. Prices are quite cheap too. I wish there’d be more selection of coffee. The atmosphere was good, but not something special. The service was great and caring.

Typical diner atmosphere- busy, loud, bustling, cramped, casual. This is a place to get food and hang out with friends like you would for Starbucks. Coffee is strong, breakfast is fantastic. Been here for lunch and nothing to write home about, pretty average but solid, but breakfast will really surprise you with how yummy it is. Big portions and flavor is phenomenal. Service is unapologetically loud, but they have to be. Attentive to refills and needs of the table. I would say this is a place you see a lot of elderly blue haired people, not so many young people unless they're with families. To be honest, they know whats up. All in all, this little tucked-in unassuming place is the hidden gem of Crystal Springs.

Made a stop up north and came across this breakfast spot. The food is ok but the service was great. Really fun and inviting staff.

It’s a traditional coffee shop. Not the modern one that the younger generations would prefer with their cappuccinos or lattes. This one probably is probably fitted for a 70-80s type. This one probably would be preferred by older generations more. We ordered a Berry Waffle, Neal’s Cheese Burger and an iced vanilla coffee. As I said, they don’t have those Italian coffee like cappuccino or latte or cold brews, they only have regular coffee, with an extra vanilla flavor if you don’t want it black. The waffle smelled very nice, but the strawberry and blueberry were less fresh, especially the blueberry. The cheese burger was decent though.

Nice looking place and the Monte Cristo was good. The beef dip however was skimpy and some kind of cheap lunch meat. It had a weird tooth. My fries were not cooked and raw in the middle. Would I go back? Prob not. Coffee was thin and tasted cheap. Lots of seniors enjoying Sunday morning.

Food was edible..but barely. Not much flavor at all on the burger. Fries and slaw was pedestrian..coffee strong. Prices reasonable for what you get. Not a memorable culinary event here folks. ...it wont kill you.

For me it had the feeling of a care home cafe for both the staff and customers. I was charged 9.5 dollars for 2 small drip coffees. Just Wow Ow on the pricing.

I spoke to a local about my family's experience, and they were surprised that we were served inadequate food, as they come here all the time and love the food. The local said that they must have gotten a new cook or something. With that said, here is my family's personal experience, with star ratings beside the item. Chocolate chip pancakes: 4/5 Beef gyro with fries: 3/5 Worst gyro that I have ever had, but gyros (in general) are delicious, so it was tolerable. Fries were well cooked. Beef gyro with potato salad: 3/5 The potato salad was not good, had one bite and pushed it aside. Egg and sausage plate with crepe: 0/5 The egg was unpalatable, the crepe was undercooked and gelatinous, the sausage was not pleasant, even the steamed rice was bad (steamed rice is a daily staple in our home, and it was simply not cooked right). I had one bite of each item on the plate, and it was absolutely horrible. We did get a refund of the egg meal, without issue from the staff. For a coffee shop, the coffee was not palatable. I typically have 4 cups with breakfast, and I had one....and barely choked it down. Walking out, 3 out of the 4 of us had an ache in our stomachs...we had arrived having fasted for 19 hours....we were hungry and the food should have tasted like heaven on earth, but it was all so bad that even when famished...it was simply not good.

Came here only cause the restaurant I wanted to go to had a two hour wait. Honestly though; this restaurant serves very generic and bland food; don’t expect anything out of the ordinary. Just commercial grade; c+ grade quality food. Only thing nice here is the restaurant ambience. It’s not too noisy and friendly’ish.
