Jack's Prime San Mateo Reviews
Love this place. Been eating here for years. You can't go wrong with whatever you order. The staff is super sweet, grateful and approachable
We’ve been here once previously and wanted to try it out again for a date night and we were not disappointed! First of all parking was ample in their parking lot or you can park on El Camino. We went on a Friday night at around 5:30 and they were pretty busy inside and with plenty of take out orders. However we were seated right away. Server was friendly and gave us time to look over menu. We ordered fried pickles with a dipping sauce as an appetizer and they were yummy. We leisurely ate them enjoying the tangy flavor. Shortly after we finished our burger and chicken club came out. Really good flavor! Of course fries were crunchy and tasty too! Spent about 50 minutes there and during that time constant flow of customers from couples all ages to families with children! Fun evening! Personable, helpful, and conscientious staff too! Definitely would return! Check them out!
Food was delicious, fairly priced, and service was great. Excellent vegetarian options. We are not usually picky but I was pleasantly surprised when our waitress asked if we wanted our fries cooked in separate soy oil instead of beef tallow.
Best place I've ever eaten in my 40 years. Best food best atmosphere and a very nice waiter. I have never ate something so good. When you order a milkshake it comes with extra milkshake. Love this place. I finished very speck.
Runaway Freight is the way to go! So so good! I also had the onion rings instead of the fries and I would definitely recommend!!! Crispy, tasty, and delicious!
I was there around 1130 on Friday and sat down right away, no wait. Parking in the adjacent lot was easy. The $15 lunch special is a great deal imo. The burger was juicy and cooked to my liking (med rare), and the fries were crispy and hot. Good natural light and lots of booths plus some counter seating.
When you are craving a burger, you need to get a burger! And this is a place to go for a burger! No, they're not cheap. If you want a cheap burger, head to a fast food place. These burgers are high quality, and delicious. Well worth the price. Service was friendly, fast, and professional. Can't say enough about the fried pickles! Also, I love the casual and family friendly vibe. My only regret is that we were too full to enjoy milkshakes as dessert! This is probably my favorite burger place in this area. Will definitely be coming back!
I've been meaning to try the Burlingame location for a while now. Sometimes, we'd get catered lunch from there. I was surprised to see a grand opening sign when we were driving, low and behold it was Maverick Jack's location. It was super packed, and a lot of people were waiting outside. I took a chance and figured we'd try to place an order for to-go. I was greeted and helped right away by 2 ladies. One seemed to be in training. While I was waiting for my order, someone came up with my shakes. He politely asked me, "Do you want me to put it in the fridge while we wait for your order?" Amazing customer service. As I sit and wait for my order, I can't help but notice the retro lights and cute tile decoration. It gives it a warm and inviting kind of vibe. There seems to be more seating areas in the back as well. They were very fast in bussing tables, and I appreciated that they wiped down the menus once they were given back to them by customers. I feel like a lot of places have been more lax after covid. I ordered: 1. Outlaw burger - Bacon cheeseburger with bbq sauce, onion strings, and Chipotle mayo. Instead of the onion, strings this one had jalapeños which gave it a kick. The fries were fries 2. Onion rings - crispy and juicy when you bite into it. 3. Strawberry shake - creamy, but the straws were a little too thin to drink out of. Which made it really difficult to drink. I had to wait for the shake to melt a lot more. 4. Chocolate shake - delicious as well. Overall, I had a great experience. Great service, and the food was amazing even considering how busy it was. Can't wait to come back and try their other items.
Never had a bad experience here. Classic American food items that are always well seasoned and cooked, friendly and efficient service, and laid back atmosphere and ambience. The parking lot is on the small side, and be careful parking on El Camino as it is a very busy street. Great place for kids!
One of the BEST burgers we have ever had. We always wanted to try this place and we finally had a chance to. We walked 45 minutes from our house, was seated right away by the sweetest hostess ever. I asked what she would recommend for the burgers and she showed me which burgers were savory, sweet, sweet-spicy, and if you want a lighter option, there’s the chicken sandwiches. We ordered the fried dill pickles for an appetizer and got the ultimate bacon + upgrade to onion rings, and the Whiskey Town + regular fries. The fried pickles were HUGE. They were so delicious. They were in a beer batter and super crunchy and fluffy and then you get the tangy pickle inside. We had leftovers to bring home. The BURGERS: The ultimate bacon was perfect, it had a very bacony taste, like maybe bacon fat was used to grill the patty or something. The American Buns were out of this world, soft, fluffy, and sweet bun. The lettuce and tomato worked so well to offset the bacon grease. The whiskey town was sweet from the caramelized onions, it had plenty of mushrooms inside. The bun was so so so goood!!! We love burgers and are always down to try burger spots. This place exceeded our expectations and we would love to come again to try a different burger!!
One of the best, if not THE best, burger and shake joints in the Bay Area. Burgers are cooked to absolute perfection and super fresh and juicy. The buns are soft and the sides are all tasty. Delicious. The shakes are super creamy and clean. We had the chocolate peanut butter and the salted caramel on the way out, and they were the thickest and smoothest I've ever had. The simple, small and easy selection of draft beer and wine is also good for those who have trouble deciding. The cleanliness of the diner is astounding and the service is utterly top notch. Linda is wonderful! The booth tables were very long and can accommodate 6 diners comfortably, or super spacious for 4 or 2. There are plexiglass dividers between booths for comfort and safety. My new favorite burger spot. I can't believe I hadn't eaten here before. When it comes to the many burger places around, you haven't found your favorite until you at least try this place. It's an absolute must. 🍔🍺👑👌🏾
First time eating here in their new location and new name. Formerly known as Jack's Prime. Very nice and spacious restaurant, with ample parking. The food was very tasty. I had the $15 lunch special, a classic hamburger with cheddar cheese, bacon, fries, and a root beer float. My cousin had the Runaway Freight, a burger with Cheddar cheese, bourbon-glazed mushrooms, crispy onion strings, and Maverick's Burger Sauce. The float was a bit too sweet for my taste as was the bourbon glaze. Ethan our server was awesome, super friendly, welcoming, and accommodating, which is why I gave them four stars.
This place is spacious inside with its own parking right in the front. It was clean, and the service was great without having to wait in line. The burgers were tender and juicy, but the sauce was on the sweeter side. So it covered the flavor of other ingredients. The bun was soft and fluffy which was the right size to grab on to without ingredients falling out on the side. The burgers were a bit smaller than what I'm used to, so I was still a bit hungry after I finished the fries, and I'm not an even big eater. The fries were okay and not much to it. They were thick cut but the outside wasn't cripsy and a bit hard on the inside. Overall, this place offers burgers that are better than many other restaurants but I would try to avoid the ones that are sweet.
Definitely a good place for burgers! Had the Great with Beer and Whiskey Town Express, two burgers with it's own unique features. Loved the bourbon-glazed onions which gave a nice sweet balance to the whiskey town express and the deep fried pickles on the great with beer which went really well with the mushrooms and swiss cheese. Will come back again to try the desserts and shakes.
The location is great. The menu is average. The prices are way too steep. I went to Maverick Jack's because I was starving. I didn't have much money but enough for a burger. I decided to order off the kids menu. Two sliders with fries were $10.00. I realized as I was deciding what to order that lettuce, tomato and dressing cost extra. What?? Seriously?? I ordered anyway and I got 2 sliders on 2 buns and French fries. No lettuce, no tomato and no good. I couldn't believe how little I got for as much as it cost. No way I'm going back there.
I went to buy a burger with my niece. It was $52 for two cheeseburgers. They didn’t put cheese on the burgers we waited 45 minutes for a hamburger. They were raw in sight and cold. They were too busy talking to each other. People are waiting for their food. We ended up leaving our burgers there. very bad service food terrible I don’t understand how they would be able to get a five star or 4 1/2 star did I just go on a bad day when I was walking in there was a lady and I said I’ll never come back here that should’ve been assigned to turn around and leave but I went anyway terrible How can you get a cheeseburger with no cheese on it?😢
We are long time customers of Jack (back when it was at the old location too). It’s our monthly ritual to come here for lunch with the kids. I was more than shocked to notice how TINY the two chicken tenders (they were smaller than the fries, and a little bigger than a chicken nugget) were that are part of the Kids Meal. We order this regularly, and I’m disappointed that for the same price, we are getting less food than what is usually plated. I have no way of sharing this, hence this post here for the manager and owner. We love you guys, but this has not left a good experience for me.
