Cobani Kebab San Mateo Reviews
Ordered the mix plate with French fries and loved it. Plenty of food. Served hot and in about 10 minutes. Only one other person there. Food was delicious. Will be back.
Great Mediterranean food, everything was fresh and super flavorful. The falafel was the perfect texture and the beef kebab is tender and flavorful. I also appreciated the two tvs playing sports in the dining area. Seating area isn't huge, and the place is popular so come early to make sure you get a spot. We'll definitely be back to try the other options on the menu!
This restaurant was on my way to a different destination (I stopped to grab a bite). The staff are very friendly, the food portions were good and flavorful. Prices are resealable and many choices to pick. You guys are great. Thanks for the good food.
I need to talk about the falafel situation at Cobani. Listen, I've had falafel before. I thought I knew what falafel was. Turns out I've been living a LIE. These golden orbs of chickpea perfection have fundamentally changed my understanding of what's possible in this world. Crispy on the outside? Check. Fluffy on the inside? Double check. The kind of herbaceous flavor that makes you close your eyes and question every life decision that led you to NOT eating this falafel sooner? TRIPLE CHECK. I'm not saying this falafel cured my existential dread, but I'm also not NOT saying that. I've already been back three times this week. My wallet is crying but my taste buds are throwing a party. If you're in San Mateo and you don't stop by Cobani for this falafel, are you even really living? Asking for a friend (me, I'm the friend). 10/10 would marry this falafel if it were legal.
The mixed grill plate was very flavorful and delicious. A little pricey, but the portion size was good. Definitely recommended for trying authentic Turkish cuisine.
This is a family owned little local gem. If you like Mediterranean and/or Greek food, you will definitely love this place! Cute atmosphere, delicious food, fresh ingredients, friendly hosts, and a great variety of dishes. My favorite dishes: Beyti and Alexander kebap And highly recommend getting their delicious baklava!
I tried this place for the first time, and it’s officially my new favorite! The food was incredibly fresh and absolutely delicious. My coworker picked it up as takeout and treated me to lunch — and what a treat it was! I’ll definitely be coming back for more. Highly recommend! I had the Falafel plate, with a side of chicken.
Food was so gooood! Rice was seasoned and was such a pleasant surprise. Good portions and served on cute wood boards with great presentation. The salad was well flavored and hummus and pita bread with the plate was delicious. They also had a Turkish beer we usually do not see in the U.S. and were so happy to have found! Bomonti What a great find! Highly recommend!!
Cozy Mediterranean restaurant located on 25th Avenue in San Mateo. The airy interior is decorated with bright colors, which makes it easy to enjoy the delicious beef gyro or the chick gyro plate. Rice is well-seasoned and cooked perfectly. Friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of free street parking.
We ordered the Chicken Gyro Wrap, Chicken Kebab Plate, Babaganoush, and Chicken Kebab with Baklava for dessert. If you haven't been to this place before, it’s a decent-sized, clean establishment with a few tables on the sidewalk. You order your food at the counter, and it is brought to your table when ready. Our order arrived quickly, though I must point out that the place not very busy at that time. The food was amazing—finger-licking good and generously portioned. Both the wrap and the kebab plate came with a fresh, crunchy salad. For the price, the food was worth it. Although I am not a resident of California and found it a bit expensive, it may not seem so to locals. Regardless, if you enjoy Mediterranean food, you should definitely check this place out. We loved it and highly recommend it.
I had the salmon wrap and it had salmon in almost every bite. Loaded with veggies and came with a small side salad. The dressing on the salad was so good I asked for more to put on my wrap. I will drive 20 min just for this wrap so please don’t change a thing. The manager was super nice. Thanks for a great meal!
Nice little gyro place at San Mateo! Extensive menu… lots to choose from. The guy behind the counter was not very helpful with recommendations even though he did not look very busy! But whatever I tried was delicious so would definitely recommend this place.
I recently went to Cobani for lunch with some friends. We had high expectations due to the ratings, but unfortunately they were not met. The food was very average for the prices we paid, and we'd recommend going elsewhere for Mediterranean food. The other aspects of Cobani are fine. The decor is cozy & well-done. The service was friendly enough and the food took the expected amount of time to get ready. But now we get to the food itself, and this is where it mostly went wrong: - The hummus was not good enough to be worth nearly $10. - The Lamb & Beef Gyros Wrap was a sufficient portion for the price, but the meat was not seasoned well enough. The other wrap fillings were average. - The other kebab plates were similarly mediocre, and they are less worthwhile given the quantity of food. The only well-received dishes (in terms of taste) were the beyti and lamb shank. But I'd expect better from the "bread & butter" of any Mediterranean restaurant. Overall, maybe it was a bad day for Cobani, but I don't see much reason to return. Even on the Peninsula, there are more trustworthy & reliable spots for gyros & kebabs.
We drove here from Southbay for a late lunch! The food was great as usual but I was surprised to find huge price hikes on the menu! The same chicken Kabob which was priced $13 dollars has been bumped as much as %38! I did not realize the prices here are tied to the inflation rate in Istanbul ! I can appreciate the increased cost of row material and labor; bur 38-40% hike is going to make our 45 minute drive much harder to justify the long drive! Visited the place tonight and the food was great as usual but they forgot our French fires order which came AFTER the meals !
