Pericos San Antonio Reviews
Pericos Mexican Restaurant is truly a hidden gem. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere pulls you in — the beautiful artwork and vibrant décor give the place so much personality. It feels warm, lively, and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious. Every dish we tried was packed with flavor and tasted fresh. You can tell they really care about quality. The service was just as impressive — friendly, attentive, and genuinely hospitable. I went with my family and we had such a great time. My kids loved their meals, which says a lot. Great food, great service, and a great overall experience. Definitely worth every penny.
The Empanada plate was amazing! Love the picadillo and the queso. Tortillas are so good and their chips and salsa is fantastic. Service is wonderful. Love this place. 10/10
We had a great time celebrating 2 birthdays.
Still good after all these years. A good smell walking up and the salsa with the chips is great. Their Fajita plate is always a good bet. No complaints.
Alexis the server was great! Super attentive and made sure to help our big party well. Food was amazing as well!
Went for a late lunch (1:00) with a friend. We had excellent service. Tristan was on it making sure we had everything we wanted. The enchiladas Verde and the flautas were excellent as was the guacamole. 😋
We had such a great experience thanks to our waitress, Emily. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. Her service was exceptional — our drinks were always full, and she checked in at just the right times. Highly recommend asking for Emily if you visit!
I love that they have an outdoor area. When the weather is nice and it's such a great place to sit with friends. The food is good and the drinks are great
My Wife and I placed an order at 9:40 when they closed at 10:00 (which we hate doing that to restaurants but we had some circumstances that prevented us from ordering earlier) and when I picked up the food the manager helped us. I apologized for placing an order so late and he told us: “At this restaurant, I train my employees that when we say we close at 10:00, that means we are open till 10:00. So if someone places an order at 9:59, we will serve them just as well as if they came in when we opened.” I was astonished and thanked him for caring for us well. He reached out to shake my hand and I gladly shaked his. This service is rare these days. I will be back. Oh and the food was indeed excellent.
Pericos is a great restaurant and a family staple! The atmosphere here is great and the servers are actually kind and friendly. The atmosphere is fun and there's more than often a party going on! Perfect spot for lunch or dinner with family and friends.
As soon as I walked in I noticed the music they play! Cumbia time foo! Next the staff all greeting with smiles and cheerful. Chips and salsa good. While waiti I noticed that they do bday cheers. It's super original, creative, and I love it. Great way to boost bday human spirits! Next food was very delicious. I had a carne guisada plate with their MOST spicy salsa. Delicioso! Their Sopapillas are very tasty. Will be returning for business. Thank you Pericos Mexican Restaurant!
This restaurant is great. It's been a while since we have gotten great service! The is also good. The name of our waitress is Summer. She is the best waitress my family and I have had in years. If I were to nit pick my only gripe would be the margaritas weren't the best. Their margarita recipe needs a little work, but that would be nit picking.
Fausto did great! He is a very attentive and efficient waiter who graciously took care of each one in our party. I appreciate his excellent service, especially being kind.
The drinks were great! I tried three different margaritas and had me a reposado Don Julio. The margaritas weren’t too sweet, which is a big plus for me. The restaurant layout is awesome too, they have a nice outdoor seating area. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to eat but the table salsa and chips had a homemade flavor, so that’s a good sign.
This amazing place is one of the best Mexican restaurants in all of San Antonio. The food was perfect, and the atmosphere was super warm. The manager (Ivan, aka boss man) accommodated us like no other. When you’re thinking of having a perfect meal, remember this restaurant’s name... Pericos. Excellent services, they maintain cleanliness and take care of your every need. I didn't get the waitress name... She was absolutely incredibly fabulous.
Came in during spring break, very relaxed atmosphere and quick service. Restrooms were clean which is a must for me. I had the chamoy mango margarita, absolutely delicious! My enchilada’s sauce was the best I’ve had, usually tastes like it’s from a can and gives me heartburn. My husband had the mole enchiladas which he said were made perfectly sweet and beans were on point. My daughter had the enchiladas and loved the red tortilla but more especially the rice.
We have been coming here since they first opened and before Google maps 😆! Always a wonderful time, be it for lunch or dinner! Well no need in reviewing older times we've spent here so, let's do ours for today! As we are welcomed for dinner the young man (host in front from Arkansas and the young lady next to him) were so welcoming as our party was not complete to be sat down. Once seated, one table server (Andrew) was not only attending to us but another larger party at the time immediately informed us that he would be right with us! Long story short, we ordered drinks, appetizers and food. All things were delivered with much communication on how long we'd wait for each item! We left after closing because we were still eating and drinking, NO RUSH, weird looks or any uncomfortable feeling from staff that was working at all! This was such an incredible experience from a restaurant in which we've in the past have had nothing but amazing service and food before! Thanks again and see you again soon!
Not a whole lot of razzle dazzle on the (To-Go order) packaging. To be quite honest the packaging was very generic (Lacking any color) I eat with my eyes. The food was a different story! The tortillas were very soft, I’m assuming homemade. The flautas were full of flavor, very delicious. The enchiladas looked down right mouthwatering.I absolutely would go back again. I spent $24 and some change on 2 plates of food and 1 drink! If you’re curious. Not the cheapest (Mexican food) but definitely tasty!
App was great! Service was great, Seth the server did a great job of interacting with us, in providing great customer service. Main meal was a little burnt and wasn't the best. Overall, would give this place another try due to the great customer service.
Service was great. Food was a bit disappointing. Perhaps it was an off day. I will return to give this attractive restaurant another try. As always, this might have been an off day for me, too.
The warm salsa served with the chips is awesome!! Be careful not to fill up on it before your meal! The chicken mole enchiladas were the perfect combo of spiciness and sweetness. The El Perfecto Margaritas were delicious enough to order a second one to share. Reggie our server made us feel like family on my first visit in 13 years. I remember there was an all female mariachi band playing back then! We'll be back soon, thanks for letting us hang out.
Service and atmosphere is pretty good, the food on the hand (and the price) so so. Not bad but not something to write home about (gets the job done). Total costed about $47 (including tip). I'd come here for drinks and chips and salsa and maybe share an appetizer to split with friends but that's about it.
I tried this place during a brief trip to San Antonio. I had the BEST server anyone could ask for his name is Davin. He was very attentive, he had great recommendations, and he was very proactive and able to mitigate a food issue we had with the kitchen. It was a great experience. If I'm out that way again and I go back. I want Davin every time. I had the Vegetarian Quesadilla and the Vegetarian fajita with refried beans.
I was absolutely excited to come here cause my parents celebrated their wedding at this place many years ago, but our time was pretty terrible. The cheese was sliding off the nachos and waiter was pretty rude. The enchiladas were decent and the fajitas were nothing special. (Also there was a bad ant problem on the side walks) I hope this place changes for the better!
The good: - No wait to be seated. - Warm salsa which we like. - The server was nearby most of the time, which was good since we had to call him over to fix the things he messed up (see below). The bad: - The server brought out the wrong fajitas (chicken though we ordered steak). - Then he didn't give us tortillas. - Then he charged us for both chicken AND steak fajitas! It was a good thing that I looked at the receipt before paying. Food was meh. Drinks were meh. We'll be going somewhere else next time.
The food was meh. The flout is fine. The chicken soft tacos were ok, but a bit lacking in flavor. The steak nachos were a disaster--the steak was not good and the American cheese is an interesting choice for a Mexican restaurant.
First time going. I may try one more time to give it one more time. The staff there is horrible or at least the young lady taking my order. This is my first time, and I had questions about certain dishes and drinks. They seem like it was a bother. The weight for the food wasn't very long. The food was halfway decent. My son had a noodle dish. I had a teriyaki bowl, and we got an appetizer that was terrible. I guess it's the popcorn chicken it tasted like they dumped a whole box of salt into the chicken, extremely salty! The quality of chicken they use for it was also very bad. Very chewy. Ask for the tea. Yeah, they're decent. Extremely overpriced, in my opinion $6.50 and some of them go even higher than that for relatively skinny tall cup with no refills. So many other places out there that offer the same but better quality better service for your money.
Pericos used to be excellent. Went yesterday with a friend. The chips and salsa was awful. The salsa had liquid smoke in it to make you think it was fuego sauce. Disgusting! Ordered empanadas with queso. Empanadas were flour tortilla breading stuffed with bland hamburger meat and potatoes then deep fried served with queso. The Queso was from a can of whey... it was grainy and gross. Ordered Parrot Tails drink. I have 0% tolerance to alcohol and I didn't even get buzzed. Next was the rotisserie chicken that looked good. The chicken was dusted with flour and spices that burned up during the cooking process. And finally, the dessert was Sopapillas. Looked nothing like tgenpicture on the menu. It was a large flour tortilla cut in half and microwaved with a little sprinkled sugar. Provided Honey and Caramel from bottles in Spanish made in Mexico. It was disgusting. The service was very slow. Waiter was chatty with the other servers. No napkins. Then someone was having a birthday. The staff were so loud it was deafening. Pericos has lost their touch that once made them famous.
