Toloache New York Reviews
The food in this place is amazing. We got reservations bcos we stayed at the marriottt and the concierge got us in. The service is ok but that is also because this place is packed. If you like Mexican food, definitely try Toloache. I will definitely go there again. We had a little bit of a wait to be seated but I was glad we got in.
I love coming to this place, especially after catching a Broadway show. It's strange that I've never left a review before. The atmosphere here is charming, and the food never disappoints. What I enjoy the most are the drinks - they serve perfectly balanced tequila cocktails with fresh juice that are not too strong or sweet. It's just perfect! I'll definitely keep coming back whenever I'm in NYC.
The food at this place was amazing. The service provided to us by the restaurant was superb. The place was nice and warm, even though it was snowing outside. They were even able to add a touch of Christmas in their restaurant. Definitely recommend to go to this restaurant for lunch. We had the veggie quesadilla and burrito.
Toloache is a cosy Mexican restaurant in the heart of the theatre district. Our first time here and we were impressed by the decor, friendly and efficient service and the delicious food! Our server, Vivian, was very friendly and politely answered all our questions. Since we had limited time as we were going to see a show, we ordered the Quesadilla De Camaron, the Quesadilla de Tuetano and some drinks. Both were freshly made and delicious! Highly recommend this cosy and elegant place and will definitely go back to enjoy some of the other things on their menu!
Visited this past week and had a great experience! I had the Birria tacos with rice and beans for my meal and it was all delicious. Ahead of that, had the Fritos Medium guacamole which was also delicious and fresh. For dessert I wrapped up with the Flan which was creamy and very enjoyable! Service was spot on and I highly recommend eating here and I will be visiting again soon!
Had the arroz con mariscos before a show, thought we would grab a quick bite. In turn, I got one of the best dining experiences in NYC! Great drinks and service, but the food was divine! Everything fresh and perfectly seasoned, totally mouth watering just thinking about it while I write this. Def recommend
Impeccable service & amazing food!! I stumbled across this place while in New York seeing a play on Saturday and it has to be the most amazing food I’ve had in a long time. When I walked in despite them being absolutely packed they managed to find me a nice seat at the bar. Not only that they very graciously offered to charge my phone for me (which saved my life)! My server Arturo was a delight he made sure to check in with me and his suggestions were absolutely fantastic. I’m vegetarian andnonalcoholic, both with his suggestions for a drink and the main meal were absolutely amazing! I enjoyed it every bit. But the most amazing part had to be seeing the team and the way worked together! I have worked in restaurants my whole life and it’s really hard to get a team that not only gets their job done but also helps their colleagues without asking. Not a single minute was being wasted standing around! Everyone was either attending their tables, helping their coworker or checking in on diners. Despite being packed not a single customer was ignored, one had to simply look in the general direction of a sever and they would make sure they got you what you needed. Needless to say I will be returning and telling everyone that they absolutely need to eat here!
Came here for dinner after a Broadway show and was a great way to cap off the night. We got there a little early and so they sat us at the bar while we waited for our table to be ready and we ordered some margaritas to start things off. I had the tamarind and my girlfriend had the strawberry, both delicious and you can tell that they use real strawberries too, not just some mix, was the freshest I've ever tasted! Once we were sat, we started with chips and guac, and they give you more than enough fresh chips to snack on. For dinner my date had chicken and steak tacos and I went for the beef short rib quesadilla with a side of sweet plantains. All of it was fresh and delicious and left you feeling satisfied without feeling too full. Service was great, both at the bar and at the table, and even just waiting for our table, they definitely made sure we were taken care of at all steps. Its a little expensive, but for the quality you get and being in midtown Manhattan, you can do a whole lot worse. Would be happy to come back to this place for some upscale Mexican fare and cocktails anytime.
Give them a Michelin star already! This place is amazing—absolutely delicious. Every dish, from the drinks to the appetizers, was expertly crafted. We chose the lunch special, and it did not disappoint. The flan was so incredible, it brought me to tears like the critic in Ratatouille having a life-changing moment! Highly recommend! We were in a bit of a time crunch for our showing of Wicked, and the staff made sure we had an amazing experience and got out just in time.
Just had a great time at Toloache on 50th St. for their Mexican Independence Day special. The menu was packed with bold, vibrant flavors, and everything we ordered hit the mark. The mango and hibiscus margaritas were standouts. Fresh, balanced, and just the right kick. Service was warm and friendly, which made the whole evening even better. It can be a little pricey, but it’s a solid pick for a pre- or post-theatre meal, or a fun dinner with friends and family.
I like to jokingly say that this restaurant was imported from Mexico because the decor seems so authentic (see my photos). I had their strip steak ($45) which was very enjoyable. I had a side order of black beans ($5) which were delicious. I tried their Tres Leches De Limon dessert.with berries. In my opinion, it is an extremely poor version of a Tres Leches dessert. From my experience, good Tre Lehes elsewhere have not included a fruit on the side of the plate, they let the Tres Leche speak for itself. This restaurant is the only occupant in the two story building, which is uncommon and helps account for its attractiveness. Try to get a table on the upper level, it is charming.
The Mexican food here is fantastic, with the guacamole being a standout. They offer plenty of seating both upstairs and downstairs, but it does get busy, so I’d recommend making a reservation, especially on weekends. The churros with caramel were also a highlight. Portions are on the smaller side, and it’s a bit pricey for Mexican food, but the quality makes it worth it.
Some unique dishes, but the execution was nothing special. The best dish we got was by far the Carnitas de Lechon plate. Also, the atmosphere is not pleasing; the place is dimly lit and seating is overly tight. Service is quite inattentive, though pretty timely. Would recommend going somewhere else in the area.
If you're looking for an excellent Mexican place in Manhattan, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a decent place to get dinner in the theater district, it fits the bill. Flavor was mid. Had higher expectations for the tortilla soup and huevos rancheros. Enchiladas were the standout of our group. Prices were as expected for the neighborhood. Ambiance/ vibe was good. Wish they spent a little more time and attention on the food bc we wanted to love this place!
