Taka House Webster Reviews
I love Taka House. It's a mom & pop shop, but they are so kind. The sushi is delicious and I love thier crab tempura as well. They offer call ahead carry out, but I always enjoy getting a booth, sipping some sake and waiting for a cold, fresh chirashi bowl or a sushi sashimi combo. Their miso soup is savory and perfectly balanced. The green salad has a nice ginger/carrot dressing, not the creamy kind. If you are in a hurry, get take out, but if you have some time, definitely dine in.
Best sushi in Rochester, hands down. Always fresh, great portion sizes. Has been our family’s favorite for over 10 years.
Tucked away in the Webster Woods Plaza, Taka House is a true gem, a testament to the charm of family-run restaurants. From the moment you step inside, the warm, inviting atmosphere greets you, a stark contrast to the impersonal feel of larger sushi restaurants. We’ve been visiting Taka House for years now, along with every other possible sushi restaurant in the Monroe County area and it was truly time to capture our experience. The sushi itself is exceptional; each piece is crafted with meticulous care, showcasing the freshest ingredients. The crab, shrimp, tuna, salmon and yellow tail melts in your mouth, and are presented in the popular uramaki and maki roll method along with the sashimi and nigiri options that are all perfectly balanced and a symphony of flavors & textures. Be sure to add miso soup or ginger salad to your experience. What truly sets Taka House apart is the genuine hospitality. The owners can always be found working alongside their staff, greeting and treating every customer like a cherished guest, creating a dining experience that feels personal and heartfelt. Whether you're a sushi aficionado or a first-timer, you'll find something to love. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an authentic and delightful sushi experience.
First time here, very clean, comfortable. Their food is out of this world! I brought my best friend out for her birthday and I couldn't ask for better service. I ordered again for Mother's day, this time tale out. Food was ready on time and the presentation wowed my family as well. I will be a new regular there.
Simply the best sushi place in town. Very cozy mom and pa style place with owners always on the floor: Mr. Taka is preparing food and Mrs. Taka serves it. They really do magic. One suggestion: make sure you experiment and try all the specialty and premium rolls - you will definitely rind something that you will crave forever. And one more thing, this is the place that you send someone to try sushi for the first time! Edit 05-2019 Been coming here since they opened and they only get better and better! Very dedicated family business, and still best sushi in Rochester!!!
The food was delicious! My wife and I got the combo sushi platter. Was extremely good! Some of the best I've had around here. Small, somewhat initmate location. When we were there it was empty, so there wasn't much distractions. But I can imagine that even when it's filled, it doesn't ever get too loud in there. I recommend it!
I'm not sure I agree with the claim that it is the best sushi in Rochester, but I will say that I think it's among the best sushi VALUES in this area. Overall the food was very good. We ordered a Bento Box A, edamame, two rolls and an order of dumplings. The Bento Box A was simply a massive amount of food. It could easily be split between two people. The salad and soup are standard fare and reasonably forgettable, but definitely not poor quality. The five pieces of sushi and the California roll were fresh, well made and tasted great. The dumplings were delicious. We set aside the teriyaki chicken as a snack to have another day because there was simply too much food to have at one sitting, and the vegetable and shrimp tempura were very very good. We got our food to go but went in to get it. The interior feels a little rundown, but appeared to be clean and was comfortable. I would definitely order food from them again.
Good place for sushi. I came here Friday evening (Valentines day) around 5:30pm, and the restaurant was half full. The decor really gave the Japanese vibe. The restaurant only has 1 chef and 1 waitress at the time I came, so the waiting time for table, got order and food was served was 30 minutes or so. The restaurant was packed shortly after I got my table, and take-out ordered kept coming, to the point chef couldn’t take anymore orders. I got dinner combo, which 4 rolls sushi and 2 salad. Sushi was great. The ginger salad dressing is not bad as well, but definitely can be improved. I would definitely come back for sushi, just need to avoid any holiday due to the waiting time
We got take away. I was good, sadly most of the rolls seem to have a lot of cream cheese as a base. Not my favorite type of sushi. We did find a few really good rolls without it. Avoid the spring rolls. They tasted...... not fresh. We ordered 7 rolls. All really good.
This place has acceptable sushi- if you’re craving sushi, this place will provide average quality sushi at a reasonable price. The restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly and attentive. The tempura had a slightly oily flavor, however, the tempura was well cooked- especially the vegetables.
They sneak wasabi into the maki rolls, which is a really disappointing surprise when you get takeout and everyone in your family hates wasabi and you have $80 of food nobody will eat. Beware :(
ordered 2 rolls for the table and they were the best part of the meal. everything thing else was terrible. the hibachi all looked boiled and the steak was rock hard. The salmon was a tiny puck that looked like it had seen better days.
I ate there and spent a $77 for a meal for my boyfriend and I. That’s completely fine as I saw the pricing for what we ordered. But to not only get a cash tip of $20 and I rounded it up for an additional tip for my card to make it to $80 and I get a alert they gave themselves an additional $10 on my card than what I had left? I WILL NOT RETURN. Be careful, they seem to want to take the money if you pay with card with what they think they deserve.
I hate writing bad reviews for local businesses but I would not recommend Taka House. Friendly service and reasonable prices but the chicken hibachi was almost inedible :( boiled chicken covered in gloppy teriaki sauce, steamed unseasoned vegetables, and I paid $3 extra for fried rice that must have been reheated in a microwave. None of the meal ever touched a grill. My husband got the raw Bento box and he said the sushi was fine but had a strong wasabi flavor despite not adding any to the pieces. Miso soup and salad were standard. Maybe we just ordered the wrong items? Sucks since the other reviews for this place are mostly good.
Terrible atmosphere. The music playing is totally uninviting and weird. There is mediocre fish that tastes bad. Other dishes are terribly salty and tastes like soy sauce. The server made everything so much more confusing. I would not come here again.
