Taco King West Hempstead Reviews
It may be part of a chain, but this one is better than all the rest! Always a go-to when in the area
Best grab and go tacos. High foot traffic so food is always fresh. They make the soft shell tacos on the spot. The steak taco is delish.
My favorite taco spot on Long Island. This is the best spot and I travel all over the island.
Nice little local taco joint. I would suggest visiting on taco Tuesday. Good food, fast service.
Absolutely overpriced for a medium to low quality burrito. Spent $16 for a drink and the one pound chicken burrito. I won’t go there again.
The food is good. You can complain always see anyone I drive by decided to stop. I'll recommend it to anyone.Excellent place to go
It’s been 2 hours since my meal. We had comb meal chicken hard taco and quesadiIla still can taste it. So fresh and delicious. Looking forward for our next visit. Thank you
I got the chicken quesadilla and it was so delicious, so was the chicken soup. The owner is nice and the rest of the staff are so well mannered. I would definitely recommend sitting down to eat here. I don’t even usually like tomatoes but I’d say it added to the dish.
Great tasting food, attentive hosts, great atmosphere… My colleagues and I are present, at least, once a week. Some of the best food we’ve enjoyed, along the local Hempstead strip!
Service is good
One thing I miss about living in Long Island are the Tex-Mex restaurants. Yes, they're not of the highest quality, and usually they're in a cheap location, and the horrible customer service is always a given, but I do enjoy the food every once in a while. After searching for a Tex-Mex restaurant, I stumbled across Taco King. This location is actually pretty big with plenty of sitting space. My usual go-to dish at a Tex-Mex place is the Grilled Steak rice platter, so I decided to stick with what I like. I thought the steak here was excellent. It came with one flour tortilla, rice, beans, salad, guac, and chili. The quality and proportion was better than what I expected. However, it was crazy expensive. I know I sound old, but I remember that only a few years ago, the same dish was about $8 or $9. Now it's over $17! I would gladly eat here more often if the price was cheaper.
In this economy it’s places like those that I am thankful for. Their fajitas by the pound are delicious and for the price totally unbeatable. Just add some salsa or make quesadillas and stuff the meat in and voila! Dinner is ready. Giving it three stars for ambiance because this is mostly a takeout place with no real ambiance.
I’ve been coming here for years, food has always been very solid, but they might’ve gone a little crazy with their prices. I’m not sure in what universe 6 tacos should cost over $50 but I guess the cost of grocery is rising for everyone so I suppose it’s understandable. It’s just unfortunate that $50 will have to serve me better elsewhere going forward..
OMG, what happen to this place. Went there 2 days ago, skimpy on steak in my fajitas, tortilla was hard. The salsa was pure hot sauce. Used to be great a few months ago. I don't know who took over but they suck!! Guess I have to find a bew taco place.
meat is not fresh. I ordered nachos and tacos and as I was sitting waiting for my food I was quite surprised nothing was cooking on the grill. It was completely clean and not in use. Then I heard a microwave beep as if the food was done warming up. So I looked and it seems like the microwave is on a shelf behind drapes. I saw the cook take something out and plate it. I will not be returning. completely turned off
A really cheap Taco Bell, the food is over priced, and poor quality. A little on the dirty side and a very unkept environment. No axe to grind just really underwhelming. I should have gone to Quiznos next door. Feels like they opened it and never lifted a finger to keep up with it. Dated, corny “Mexican” decor and dirty floor and tables. Fool me once not twice.
Pass on this spot and go for a place that brings flavor, of any kind, at all. There are about 6 other better places to eat less than a block away in any direction. Spend the $35 you would’ve at one of those. Rice and beans should be hearty and seasoned. These were bland, as if cooked with a single can of store bought salsa and maybe an onion. Moving on to the “salad” of chopped iceberg and watery tomato. For a second I was excited there was a tiny reservoir of queso in the center of the platter but do you know what it was? FrEnCh DrEsSiNg. Why on the good green earth would they do that? I nearly cried. The guac was onions coated lightly in avocado. I had the chicken and it was actually ok. Kind of had the vibe that it was cooked hours ago but the flavor was inoffensive and no weird textures or anything so it was fine. I also had another platter in my order with steak and idk something about it looked like it sat on a cutting board for too long. The best part of the meal? The one (1) single tortilla and the chips. Both had good texture and flavor. Overall it was edible. It was our second visit in 5 years and our last.
