Roast & Rice Westlake Village Reviews
Friday date night! Very delicious Salmon sashimi, Red Dragon Roll, and Rainbow Roll! The wife got Veggie Buns and Spicy Eggplant! Very tasty! This place is always a great place to eat at! Not sure why it’s not more busy like Lure next door! Stop by you will enjoy the food!
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST!!! This place has the most unique menu items that blend flavors from all over Asia, we got Japanese, Indian, Thai, etc all fused in unique items and the service is always so friendly and they remember me and my family whenever we go. I recommend the kimchi fried rice and the roti and chinese scallion pancakes
Albacore Tartare was so delicious not just good looking!!! Garlic Noodles was yummy too!! Jane was exceptional with her service!! Thank you!!! I will be coming back.
We came here to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint. The food was terrific--very flavorful. My wife ordered the panang curry with tofu, and she loved it. I tried it too, and it was very well balanced and not too sweet! I ordered the Kung Pao tofu, and it was otherworldly. You can tell the dish was made over extremely high heat because the vegetables were seared, yet tender crisp, and the flavors were really, really vivid. My 8-year old son had the garlic noodles with broccoli. He loved them and cleaned his plate. We also ordered a vegetable roll, which was terrific, as well as ice cream for dessert. Everything was top notch, and we would definitely do it again. I highly recommend this place for any occasion.
6/14/2025 Had a wonderful dinner tonight at Roast & Rice. Honda, Puchung and Apple were our wonderful servers. What a terrific place. We started with soup and drinks. My wife had the tofu soup and I had the dumpling soup. Both were excellent. The hibiscus ice tea was fantastic. We ordered several entree dishes and took plenty home for lunch tomorrow. We had the fried rice, orange chicken, beef & broccoli and a wide noodle dish. The food, service and ambiance was excellent. Highly recommended. Previous visit Stopped by for dinner at Roast & Rice. Maria, our server was very nice, professional, and attentive. We ordered the "OH My God Sushi Roll", orange chicken, Mongolian beef, and steamed rice. The food was hot and tasty. The ambiance was peaceful and serene. Maria was a bright star in this establishment, and we appreciated her insight and recommendations.
This restaurant is amazing!! They have an incredible variety of foods and every single thing we ordered was phenomenal! The service was also wonderful! Between us we had shrimp fried rice, wonton soup, cucumber salad, miso soup and even sushi. All dishes were very tasty & authentic. The sushi was delicious - a good combo of flavors and great quality fish! In my opinion the sushi was on par with the Landing on the Lake. On top of this, they were knowledgeable and very careful in regard to allergens! I have Celiac, so I have terrible reactions if I accidentally eat wheat/gluten. They went above and beyond and actually made me a gluten free ponzu sauce to go with the roll I ordered! They even told me they can make me fried rice gluten free! Also, my step mom has a serious shellfish allergy and they made sure to be very careful in regard to this as well. Try this restaurant if you haven't. You will definitely find something you like! We will certainly be back! P.S. The food display was also wonderful, so please forgive the photo... I got overly excited and ate a few pieces of the roll before I remembered to take a pic. :-)
Did a quick search for a restaurant in the area and this came up so I decided to try it out. Solid Asian fusion restaurant. I started with a Thai tea latte iced with boba and that was pleasantly delicious. The spam musubi was on point but I should of got “easy rice” and was hoping it was at least two pieces. The calamari was also delicious and the sauce was great. The crispy hainam chicken is one of the best I’ve had. The garlic rice wasn’t too garlicky but it complimented the tender/juicy/crispy chicken pieces. The miso soup was also good and I added the leftover rice to it for a little finishing dish. I’d definitely come back again and try some of their other food offerings.
Really cool find in Thousand Oaks. I liked the idea of trying some Asian fusion dishes. I tried the Thai Mein which had some really good flavors. My wife tried the sushi which seemed on par to other good sushi restaurants. Our servers were really kind and attentive. There is a nice outside patio with heat Ed and really cool indoor seating if you prefer that. I could definitely see myself coming back to this restaurant. If you are in the area give it a try!
The overall dining experience was great! Walking in, I was greeted by the waiting staff and a cozy atmosphere from the decorations. I had the roast duck with rice and it was made well. It was cut in a way where there would be no bones. Back in NC, I would get a whole roast duck for special occasions and the taste and texture brought back some memories. I do understand it’s an acquired taste, but it never hurts to try once (unless you’re allergic). I do sometimes wonder if I’m able to buy the whole duck. It also came with a small bowl of soup and sauce for the roasted duck. For specialty dishes like this and the economic pressure on prices, it was fairly priced, especially if you’re just eating out with friends once every 1-2 months.
Great little Asian Fusion place. Service and food is exceptional. Try it when you like some sushi or curry rice.
It is a great local place to come and enjoy sushi, Thai, Chinese, and American favorites. The atmosphere is wonderful and the service is great. Indoor and outdoor seating. Had the Curry Puff pastry, Crunchy Roll, Mission Soup and the house salad. All very good. Would recommend the fried bananas with coconut ice cream for dessert.
LOVE ❤️ LOVE ❤️ LOVE ❤️ Roast & Rice!!! MY FAVORITE RESTAURANT in all the Los Angeles area!!! Formerly Prawn & Basil, moved to Westlake Village as Roast & Rice with a brand new menu. Excellent, exotic, unique and highly innovative spin on Thai and Japanese dishes to create a wonderfully tasty version of Asian fusion cuisine. I have traveled in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Cambodia, plus I am Asian and I love R&R food!!! Head chef Jan is constantly coming up with delicious, new dishes. Can't say enough about how good this food is! EXCELLENT!!!
This place is so legit. All of our dishes were out of this world yum. We had crispy tuna cut roll, spam musubi, chicken pho, chicken larb, and the Mongolian beef noodles. You have to come and try this place. We're definitely coming back.
I love the stir fry here. They were on Thousand Oaks boulevard called prawn and basil. They don't have lunch specials anymore but the food's delicious. They also have sushi in many other items.
Ordered the Green Avocado Curry with chicken and they did not disappoint!! Some restaurants will skim on the chicken, but from here, my meal was loaded with meat and vegetables… there was enough for a 2nd meal. Also the curry was perfectly spiced. I would highly recommend!

Great service, great location (if you are staying at Residences Inn), and love the fried banana with coconut ice cream 😀
Amazing Asian fusion restaurant. Amazing service and sweet staff. They have delicious sushi, Thai food, and Chinese food.
This was my first visit and I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken. It was good and there was enough for a second meal. I don't know if the owners read these reviews but I do have a suggestion: get rid of the plastic table cloths. There is no reason for them. It cheapens the atmosphere. Let people enjoy their meals on the nice tables already present. If I'm going to pay $16 for a noodle dish, I don't want to feel like I'm sitting at a picnic table.
We just came in for some Hot Sake while we waited to be seated at Cicis. The decor inside I really enjoyed. Plants, lots of natural light and spacious seating. I will be back to try their sushi and upgrade the post

I had high expectations maybe, my first time here. Service is good and asked server to recommend. She recommended spicy tuna rice cake for appetizer. This was good, a tad salty but overall good. Then she recommended crispy chicken over rice. This was like zero stars. The chicken tasted stale, like leftover next day chicken. Very bland. I couldn’t eat it. Loved the boba Thai tea. Not sure if I’ll come back.

The food was fine, and the service was fine until the check came. I gave the waitress my credit card, and she brought back a check for $75. I tipped $20. (As shown in the photo, the check on the left was what I saw, I didn't see the itemized bill and just assumed we ate about $75 worth.) As my friend and I finished using the restroom and were about to leave, the waitress runs back to me and says that she gave me the wrong check to sign, and my total check was actually $100. Mind you, this is AFTER she saw that I tipped $20 on a $75 check. So they decided to make a customer feel REALLY uncomfortable and awkward, because they accidentally undercharged me $25, which was THEIR mistake. They take my credit card back, cancel the first transaction, create a new check for $100, and have me sign again. Tsk tsk, Roast and Rice. Tsk tsk. Very bad form. This was YOUR mistake, so YOU should have eaten the $25 and avoided this awkward situation, especially after I tipped generously the first time. But you didn't, so here we are.
Ordered the red lady roll and got food poisoning. The creamy sauce on top of the roll may have been left at room temperature too long or was expired. Other wise the rest of the food tasted great, just be cautious of the sushi
I ordered rolls and fried rice. The rolls were fine, but the fried rice was badly overcooked with a burnt, bitter taste. After eating some, I felt very sick, had to rush to the bathroom, and ended up vomiting until nothing was left. Honestly, this was a terrible experience. The rice completely ruined the meal
