Triple R BBQ Whitewright Reviews
We tried Triple R Barbecue in Whitewright, Texas for the first time, and overall it was a great experience! The sandwiches are fully loaded. They definitely do not skimp on the meat. We ordered ours chopped lean, and it was piled high and full of flavor. The real star of the show was the sandwich and the sauce — absolutely delicious and what truly made the meal stand out. The barbecue beans were good, and the French fries were great, crispy and satisfying. I appreciated that they offer potato salad; it had good flavor, though I personally prefer a chunkier potato texture rather than a smoother, almost mashed style. The mac & cheese was okay, not my favorite, but still decent. Overall, if you’re craving a hearty BBQ sandwich with generous portions and tasty sauce, with great prices ta’boot, this is definitely a spot worth trying! The banana pudding was tasty, but not my favorite and I didn’t care for the rolls. P.S. the loaded mashed potatoes were good as well!
This hidden gem in Whitewright, TX is a must visit if you love Bar B Q! Went for lunch 3 days in a row and it was delicious. Everything homemade and fresh each day. The restaurant and bathrooms are so clean and neat. The owner takes pride in not only preparing incredible food but delivering an amazing experience. Highly recommend and a must go to for the best BBQ!
The best pecan pie I had ever had and I had many the food is ok a little pricey but ok overall
Great little gem of the town!! Food always delicious, ribs tender and juicy. Great selection, great people and a great comfy spot. Def will return!! 10/10 highly recommend!!
This place is my new favorite place to eat. Everything is made from scratch and I just love it. It is a very big plus because it is only less then 30 min. from me. I discovered this place by accident and sure glad I did. I was hankering for bbq for about a week and they did not disappoint. I will be back For Sure. 😁😋
We’ve driven by a number of times and decided to stop for lunch. We got the window special- sandwich, side and drink. We got a sliced brisket sandwich and cheesy potatoes, both very good! Banana pudding for dessert.
A Texas BBQ Experience Like No Other – Triple R BBQ is a Hidden Gem! If I could give Triple R BBQ more than five stars, I would in a heartbeat. From the moment I walked in, Kim and Matthew made me feel like I was part of their own family — not just a customer, but truly welcomed in the warmest, most genuine way. Their hospitality was nothing short of extraordinary. You can tell they pour their heart and soul into not just their food, but every interaction they have. It’s rare to find that kind of care in today’s world. Now, let’s talk about the BBQ — oh my goodness. In a state like Texas, where BBQ is practically a sacred art form and the competition is fierce, Triple R BBQ rises above the rest. The brisket? Melt-in-your-mouth perfection with just the right bark. The ribs? Fall-off-the-bone tender with a smoky richness that lingers just long enough to make you crave more. Every side dish tasted like it came straight from a beloved family recipe passed down through generations. It’s clear that every bite is crafted with passion, pride, and a whole lot of love. Triple R BBQ isn’t just a place to eat — it’s an experience, a memory, and a feeling of home. Whether you're a seasoned BBQ aficionado or just looking for a comforting meal, this spot should be at the top of your list. Kim and Matthew, thank you for treating me like one of your own. I can’t wait to come back — and I’ll be bringing friends and family with me next time!
A no frills BBQ restaurant with really good BBQ meat. The chopped brisket sandwich was good, my daughter got the pulled pork sandwich and really liked it, and her boyfriend got ribs. I should have got the ribs also they looked delicious! Overall it's a small restaurant and not a lot of seating. Will definitely be back to try the other items and sides, but will get it to go instead of dining in.
1st, I should say that I have never eaten here, BUT I will be stopping in to get some myself the next time I am passing thru. The story is....I am a truck driver from Texas and was on the phone with another truck driver from California. He was headed through your town with a load going out west and said he really wanted to try some Texas BBQ. He had not had a chance to eat all day due to the loads he was on and was really hungry. So I followed his route and found your place only 20 minutes ahead of his location, with plenty of room for him to pull his rig over on the shoulder, jump out, go inside and pick it up and hop back in his rig and go. He said the brisket was great, and he wolfed half of it down before he realized it. Super tender and juicy, and the sides were great, too. For a great price. So, now I am jealous that I haven't tried it yet. But I do pass thru once in a while and will be stopping in the next time. Be looking out for me and my rig!!
Triple r is an establishment that feels unreal in how it rest. First the building reminds me of a home style barn you could walk out too. Second it's one of the last mom and pops that makes you feel like your in your grandmother's dining room in an authentic way that doesn't feel forced. Third its probably the best baroque you can get for a damn good price. If you chose not to eat here because of any other reason than your not feeling it then your just not doing it right!
I got a 2 meat plate with 2 sides- the price was right and the portions were generous. I enjoyed the brisket and the jalapeño sausage but was a little disappointed with the sides. The pinto beans were ok but the baked potato casserole was all dried out and lacking in flavor. My wife got the baked potato and said she really enjoyed it. I would visit again if I were in the area.
This place was recommended to me for a BBQ lunch. We got the lunch special with a brisket sandwich, one side and a drink. Price was good but I wish they had toasted the bun or at least warmed it up. I didn't care for the potato salad, no chunks of potatoes, more like it was made with mashed potatoes. We shared a side of banana pudding but it was made with banana flavored pudding and not a piece of banana in sight. There aren't many options for food in Whitewright and I would grab a sandwich and chips for a quick lunch. I do hope they stay in business. Seems a lot of workers in the area go there for lunch.
We've eaten at Triple R BBQ multiple times over the years that we have visited this area of Texas. Several great meats as well as several good sides. I rarely miss eating here because it is good, but I honestly can't think of anything that I think makes it stand out from other BBQ restaurants. It's all just good and worth making your meal stop in Whitewright. If you have room after eating, I like that they have desserts available such as pecan pie, peach or apple cobbler, and banana pudding.
Great people, and good food! The spicy sauce is fantastic, and I really liked the sausage and brisket, it was very tasty. I would have given 5 stars, but the ribs were pretty close to jerkey status around the edges, you could tell it was excellent earlier in the day and was fall off bone for sure. If I could offer one recommendation, it would be, don't be afraid to tell a customer your sorry, but you're out, or we just can't serve that as it's past it's prime, because it was only an hour before closing. That sends a loud message to the guest that you only serve the best!! The sweet tea was also excellent, a big big deal for me at restaurant's! All around, I was pleased, and delighted to find a real bbq place in my immediate area. Thank y'all, I'll be back : )
Sides was amazing but the pull pork sandwich that I ordered was alright but the smoked flavor isn't as strong as I liked for barbecue.
This was my third visit to this restaurant, and I’ve ordered the ribs every time. The first two visits were great—the ribs were flavorful and well-cooked. On this third visit, however, the ribs were mushy, almost like they had been steamed, and lacked flavor. Very disappointing.
Since I can’t reply to the owner, I wanted to update my review: Underneath my name at the top of this review, it states that the services we used were Take Out. Since we ordered to-go, there was no way we could’ve “talked with the manager.” Yes, we really were “that unhappy with our food.” The passive aggressive response from the owner of this establishment further ensures that we will not be returning. Thanks. We just moved to the area and were extremely excited to have a BBQ place so close, but man oh man…this was more than disappointing. The only good thing was how kind the staff were! We got the two meat plate (Brisket & turkey with Mac n cheese and banana pudding) and a rib plate w/ Mac n cheese & the loaded potato casserole. The mac was ok. The banana pudding was ok but was really just vanilla pudding with what tasted like banana flavoring sprinkled on and exactly 2 cookies in the serving. The brisket smelled like cat food and was the driest brisket I have ever had. The turkey was just cold deli meat slices. The loaded potato casserole was so dry & only tasted like sour cream. The only thing that was actually edible were the ribs, they were tender and actually had seasoning. Sadly, after they sat for a couple minutes it dried out. We were so turned off from the smell and tastes of everything else we ended up only eating 2 of them. This is the first and last time we’ll be dining here. For over $40 and only having 2 things be edible is just ridiculous.
