I always enjoy myself here! It's truly a treat for any group size. The food is fantastic and always prepared fresh and to order. A stunning display however the only down side is that it can get very noisy because of the acoustics and loud groups. Everything you receive is photo ready so keep your phone(camera) ready📷📱!
Great food, atmosphere and service! Hanger steak was cooked to perfection with a nice char from the grill. My wife's bone in pork chop was also prepared perfectly. From the drinks through the whole meal everything was great. There special blend of coffee is fantastic..
Delicious! Pricey but worth the splurge. I had burger, fries, salad, drinks...all were wonderfully elegant. Yes, burgers can be elegant. Served with warm bread and butter. Props to the chefs! I will return.
What a wonderful evening! Great food, excellent service. Don’t miss out on the Nicky Pizza.
To say my dining experience was excellent is an understatement. The food was cooked to perfection by masterful chefs, and every visit brings the same pleasure. The staff was kind, and attentive. Do yourself a favor and try the peanut butter pie. It's to die for.
We came here last night for dinner. Food was delicious, service was great! We had the Pork Chops and Halibut. Both cooked perfectly. We mentioned we were in a time crunch since we had to get to a party. They were very accommodating.
The food here was excellent. A little cramped on a busy Tuesday night for our larger group but we made it work. Our table did seem to be broken and slanting to one side which was odd but again we made do. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed.
Absolutely a great place to eat! Food was great! Atmosphere was lovely. Didn’t feel out of place at all even though we were the only coffee crumbs in the sugar dish. The service was the best from the time we walked in the door until John served us with grace and professional courtesy! First time eating here but not the last!!!!!
Another winner in my books is 800 Maple. Excellent flavors in food and eclectic/chic atmosphere. Drinks are always on point. This place has it all. Sometimes is very hard to get a spot but I love going here with friends and family because of it's upscale foodie tastes.
The aesthics and wait staff were wonderful! I wouldn't order the vodka pasta dish again because my husband's steak dish was MUCH better. The Flatbread appetizers were the highlight of the meal and the desserts were delicious too !
Staff was great. Food delicious
My friends and I went here for a birthday brunch after a last minute cancellation at another place. It was by far the best brunch we have had. Every one of us loved our food and the drinks were good too. The breakfast potatoes were our favorite! The staff was very friendly. I would recommend to anyone!
We had Roman as a server and he was great!
Hidden Gem. Stopped for a decent dinner while traveling home after spending the weekend in Buffalo. Every single detail and flavor of each dish was sheer perfection. Our server, Alex, was in every way outstanding- professional, attentive and knowledgeable but still approachable and kind. Genuinely engaging in conversation that set the atmosphere. We can't wait until next time. ~Thank you again, Alex~
My mother in law made a reservation for us on Thursday before a play. I have never been there before but she assured me that they had vegan gluten free options. I know that not many places cater to my dietary needs, I expected to get a salad or some sides. Our wonderful waitress said that they may have tofu and she would see if the chef could make a dish for me. They did! They were able to alter a special to make it vegan and it was incredible - so good for that we went back for dinner again on Saturday and they made me another meal that was just as good!
Excellent bar service! The bartender made me the perfect old fashion. Our server tool the time to explain several dishes to our table. I ordered the Louie pizza and it was incredible! All dishes were exceptional. Overall very satisfied and I will be back!
The Wood Roasted Lemon Garlic Chicken was made perfectly with a crispy skin, and the roasted fingerling potatoes were spot on. The Grilled Faroe Island Salmon was incredibly tender, fell apart under the fork, and paired beautifully with a smooth Pinot Noir. Will recommend either of these main courses. For the appetizer the Burrata was delicious, although the sweet corn pepperonata was slightly sweet for my taste, it balanced well with the wine. Overall a great dining experience!
One of the most welcoming restaurants in Buffalo. Even when calling to place a takeout order, the staff that answered was so nice and when we asked for bread said of course, I’ll make sure there’s bread and butter for you. Upon waiting inside for our takeout, my husband was offered a beer sample. The food was prompt and came out right on time. And as always, the food is absolutely delicious but special kudos to the wonderful staff.
In town visiting from Chicago and friends took me to 800 Maple. From the time I entered, seated and served, the staff and atmosphere were extremely friendly. I took a moment to thank Peter, the GM, for a great experience and he was very grateful and highlighted his strong staff and I would agree. Oh and the food! The Milanese was fantastic! Have to think anything you choose is just as good :). Will absolutely return!
We had brunch at 800 Maple, I had not visited in years, but I now know what I have been missing! Build your own bloody mary?!? Delicious, bagels with lox and cream cheese, gluten free flatbread, something for everyone in our large party! The service was great as well! I would definitely recommend!
Great breakfast! It was on special so I don't know if it's normally available but the salmon Benedict was VERY good. Service was attentive and friendly.
Another visit, unplaned , but they were able to accommodate party of three. Food was great, drinks were strong, and ambient just perfect, as always. There is never less than great experience with this place.
My family had a wonderful time dining at 800 Maple. Food was phenomenal, drinks were on point, and service was outstanding. It was my husband's birthday and our sweet waiter came out with a happy birthday candle and comped our desserts. Even the gentleman filling our waters was so personable and fun to talk to. Above and beyond during an already fabulous evening. The food is great, but the staff gets 10 stars!
800 Maple is always on point! The food is amazing and consistent. The staff is absolutely top tier. They are always professional, very happy and kind, knowledgeable, and also consistent. It says a lot about a restaurant culture when they have good employee retention and consistency to the quality of food. The menu changes periodically and the specials change fairly frequently, which is a good blend. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!
I had dinner with 4 friends at 800 last night. Two people had an amazing steak, one a salmon and two had pizza (one of them vegan gluten free). The classy and delicious meals came on time, very well prepared and presented. The service was exceptional as well. A bit expensive but totally worth it.
We recently hosted our Baby Shower at 800 Maple and were thrilled with how the event went! We had a Saturday morning brunch and it was great to be able to rent out the entire restaurant space. Working with Peter leading up to the event was smooth and easy, and he was willing to work with us to provide the exact type of food menu we were looking to have. The service we received during the event was exceptional! The servers were walking around offering mimosa refills as guests were eating and all the staff working the event were very friendly. The food was incredible and the chef made a lovely gluten free option for guests without hesitation. The restaurant was set up beautifully and has a very warm atmosphere. Overall, from start to finish, we had a wonderful experience and would HIGHLY recommend 800 Maple if you’re looking to host an event.
800 Maple is PHENOMENAL! There's no other way to put it! If I could give them 10 stars I would! Actually 20! Took fiancée for her birthday dinner and they didn't have filet on the menu that night but the waitress went in back and found that there was some similar from the night befores always amazing menu! From the bread to the desert EVERYTHING was OUTSTANDING! Our waitress was unbelievably helpful and we can't leave out the young lady who boxed up our food and kept bringing us the bread with the delicious sundried tomato butter. Our waitress looked exactly like the actress from Vampire Diaries and the young lady who boxed our food definitely doesn't get the appreciation from other customers she deserves. Well THANK YOU to everyone at 800 Maple!!! YOU'RE ALL WONDERFUL!!! 2nd So just took my new girlfriend and I cannot say enough! The owner, the staff, the food, the setting and the service IS SECOND to nowhere! Not even close! Thank you so very much, it was our first date and we are now a couple. Thank you to everyone on staff! Just THANK YOU!!
Top of the line for a fine dining experience. Food, wine, cocktails and a very nice whiskey list. The calamari was prepared perfectly! Scallops, pork chops steaks, all a magnificent size and perfectly cooked and presented. Service was above and beyond. Well worth your time and money
All was great, i'd suggest a bit softer and slower music to comliment tasty food and great service.
We recently hosted a baby shower at 800 Maple. From the first phone call with Peter to packing up the gifts at the end, the experience could not have been better. The food was excellent, the service was outstanding. We were delighted!
Absolutely phenomenal. I mean the best meal I’ve had in Buffalo in a while. My dad and I booked reservations and everything was flawless. The timing of the wine and bread between the apps and the actual meal was perfect. I had the Long Island duck breast and it is the best duck dish in WNY. The service was awesome and everyone was super nice and welcoming. Thank you for an amazing experience!
This was such a great place to go for an anniversary!! Was it expensive? Yes. Worth every cent. The servers were very pleasant, the food was incredible, and the drinks were great, too! We weren't rushed to get out or anything, just provided excellent service.
Went in just before closing and they totally were accommodating. The waiter he was amazing. We asked for certain things for our meals and he asked the chef and we were accommodated. Just awesome food, wine, and service. ( I believe the waiters name is Romano) I'm sorry not sure of spelling)
I’ve eaten at the bar at 800 Maple several times now, and it never disappoints. The food is always top-notch—this time I had the margarita pizza and the fruit tart, and both were absolutely delicious. The pizza was perfectly crisp with just the right balance of fresh ingredients, and the warm fruit tart was a sweet, satisfying finish. Drinks were just as great! There's a reason I keep coming back—everything from the food to the atmosphere and service makes this place a go-to spot.
This was our first experience at 800 Maple and we were extremely pleased. The atmosphere was great and our meals were delicious. I had the filet, and added the cherry pepper demi glace. My husband had the strip steak and added the brandy peppercorn sauce. Both steaks were cooked to a perfect medium rare. The veggies & whipped potato were great as well. Our server was prompt with drink refills and we will definitely be back.
I had brunch here for my birthday and the food was amazing and the service was exceptional. We were constantly asked if we needed anything else and our water glasses were always topped up, and the food was just amazing and we highly recommend it. We had the eggs Benedict, the open omelet, and the breakfast pizza.
Great experience this evening at 800 Maple. We were welcome by the host right when we arrived and we're seated at a comfortable table. The cocktails we got were phenomenal and we ended up ordering about six drinks total between the two of us. One of the drinks was a pear flavored martini And the other was a Sicilian mule. We ordered the crispy artichoke hearts and the calamari for appetizers. The calamari was one of the softest calamari I have ordered at a restaurant. The artichark hearts were different than anything I have had but I really enjoyed it. My husband ordered the pork chop which was cooked very well and I ordered the prime strip steak which was very flavorful and cooked properly. We did order the homemade macaroni and cheese. You can also get a version of this that is lobster macaroni and cheese. You definitely can taste that it is homemade and that there are many different cheeses used in this dish. It was very rich but my husband was head over heels for it. The best part of our experience was the dessert. It was a homemade tart with peaches and blueberries with vanilla ice cream on top. It was served warm and You could really taste that homemade flavor. It was kind of like peach cobbler but a hundred times better. I would highly recommend that as a dessert if you visit the establishment. I really would love to come back to this restaurant to try a couple more of their dishes and would highly recommend this restaurant to my close friends and family.
Excellent alternative for special occasion or business dinner. Excellent atmosphere and incredible service. The bar is amazing and has an extensive choices of cocktails. Their Dirty Martini is definitely one of the top 5 I’ve ever had. The food is simply delicious with delicate presentations. The Tuna Tartar is probably one of the best things they offer. Their chicken cutlets are good, but they offer by far better dishes. I was not impressed with their Espresso Martini, but everything else was just FABULOUS! Nice parking lot. 100% recommended.
Great place for a delicious dinner or brunch. For dinner the crispy duck breast and cavetelli are amazing. For Sunday Brunch my favorites are the Monte Cristo and Eggs Benedict. They also have excellent new specials every day. Restaurant staff is very friendly and always make it a great experience.
Hadn't been there in many years. Food was good but was a little shocked at the final bill. Close to 300$ for family of 4 and two of us had pizza!. This inflation is ridiculous!
Good food with pleasant staff. Food was a bit overdone though. My husband wanted medium rare for his steak and it was more well done. My fish was dry from being overcooked. Have been there before though and this was not a problem last time.
I've been there for dinner as well as brunch. They don't really have a wide variety for vegetarian, vegans on either menu. However the staff are very friendly and do try to make accommodations. There is more than enough parking, a bar if you just want to grab drinks, table for two or table for eight they accommodate. Overall nice dining experience with a family atmosphere. I'm somewhat pricier side but still affordable.
Always a great place for a great pizza and a fabulous wine selection. Food is always on point, but please tell your wait staff to stop wearing cologne. Sat in the bar area last night and our waiters cologne was truly awful.
The brunch section of the menu is small. They have a section of wood fired pizza as well as lunch. The blood orange mimosas are great! The eggs Benedict are very well done - even the hollandaise is good. Service got slow when the bar got busy.
We went on a last minute reservation. We started at the bar for a drink then went to the table. I had a masccato and my boyfriend had their Harvest Old Fashioned (was amazing). Appetizers were crab cakes and the corn cakes. Dinner was the chicken and arugula pizza. We were too full to try dessert. I would recommend and if you can get there before they take the harvest old fashioned off the special menu.
Wife and I came here for our first time. I ordered the Berkshire pork chop and I’m not huge on them so I was nervous ordering it and it was very good. Atmosphere is terrific, waitresses and waiters and hosts are awesome. Wife loved her filet mignon she ordered. Service to get our wine was slow and we waited a little longer than I like to get our check but I would definitely recommend and I will be back.
The restaurant group this is part of is very good. The menus are very similar so you get a similar experience. We usually have great luck and a great time. The food, service, and atmosphere were great. The only thing preventing this from being a 5 star was the wait for food. The restaurant was busy, but however they timed the tickets out for everyone made it very slow. We waited quite a long time for both our appetizers and entrees. We arrived at 725pm and didn't get entrees until almost 9pm. We will still be going back and hope they can speed up the food because it was delicious.
Food was great. One of 8 orders was not received (order was not placed to kitchen). Service was a fiasco afterwards. Another order was wrong and the one that was missed was asked to just be put in a take-out container as everyone else had ate. They brought it out on plate anyway, with items missing. The filet was amazing!
Had takeout (Burger and Nikki Pizza). Burger was thick and cooked prefectly. Quality cheese! Pizza was small and thin and a bit much for $24 IMO. Dine in with drinks, be prepared to spend but get what you paid for.
The food was good. Had to ask our server multiple times for refills, finished dishes were left on the table for 30 minutes and we felt that for a more expensive restaurant the attentiveness was overall lacking. When you pay 300$ for a meal I personally feel like you pay for more than great food. Probably won’t be back.
My husband and I had a lovely dinner on the Valentine's day at 800 Maple. Host Peter is a super funny, friendly and professional thanks for him a lot! So we ordered pizza and a grilled fish, french fries. The pizza was hot, super thin and dry a bit, pineapple juice was great, we also ordered a champagne, but we didn't know what's the name. The pizza had a bit salty and dry, thin. Although it was tasty. The fish was delicious😋. It was great! It's a small but busy restaurant so you should keep in mind to book a table before you go. Also price was $100. But between "Neat" and "800 Maple" I would give 5 stars to Neat!
I am vegan, the chef did good job preparing my food, my girlfriend had pork she really enjoyed. There is a good atmosphere and we spend wonderful time. But we felt uncomfortable because we were asked so many times:” if we are still working on our food” It felt like they wanted us to get out even is case when my girlfriend was still drinking her whisky and the glass of whiskey was finished yet, and our plates were still full with food. I think for such expensive place it is not right manners. That is why I gave 4 stars to the place.
Dinner was delicious about out to the chefs, Alex our server was great and Nicole stopped to say hello and was polite and friendly
This was my first time going to this restaurant. It appeared smaller than I anticipated. Tables were a bit close together but it still made for a nice warm date night vibe! Let’s get to the food: Appetizer- I judge a lot of restaurants by their Caesar salad. However I stepped out of the box this go-round & tried an asparagus salad. Really loved the flavor profile here, & it kind of gave me a bit of a Caesar salad vibe in its dressing! Main course- I did wood fire grilled chicken with creamed spinach & fingerling potatoes in a jus. DELICIOUS! The chicken was very fresh! Everything blended together nicely. I even loved the plating. It was designed with high ridges that makes sliding the food around to grab more sauce very easy! My only critique was that it was supposed to be lemon garlic chicken- & both flavors were scarce to be detected on my pallet. Probably would’ve been better to have had the chicken marinating in it. Dessert- I did a slice of peanut butter chocolate pie. Really loved how balanced it was. Peanut butter mousse was very smooth both in texture & flavor. The peanut flavor wasn’t overwhelming & left room for the sweetness of the chocolate ganache. It was a great finish! Server was nice & wonderful! Great environment! I would recommend & dine again!
We made our reservation online and when we arrived (7:30 for 7 people), they were surprised that we were able to make the reservation (at 7:00) so we had to wait for our table, which was fine. We had a few glasses of wine and cocktails. My cocktail was great (fig blossom). By the time we got sat, ordered and served, it was after 9:00 pm. Yes, it was a Saturday night. Yes, the food was amazing. It just seemed to take a little too long considering it wasn’t at capacity. Our server was very personable. It is a little noisy in there. Everyone was happy with their meals
Went here with a friend for brunch. Was refused a table and given a bar stool with barely enough room for you to place your arms on to eat. No waiter initially came to us until we waited about additional 45mins after made to wait 25 mins for a bar stool. When there was a empty table “reserved”. Food was alright looked fancy but flavors were not as aspected. Despite the pleasant ambiance would not be returning. Nor would I recommend.
Basic Italian American options with a few other items. Fried green tomatoes were over fried and had a ton of pimento parmesan on them. Black truffle risotto seemed to lack truffles but the asparagus was nicely cooked. Scallops were a little over done as well. Service was attentive and not overdone with interruptions and too frequent check ins. Atmosphere was pleasant but a little darker than necessary, maybe to hide unattractive dishes?
I used to frequent 800 Maple on a weekly basis a few years ago and never had one complaint it was always great food and service in every aspect whether it be a glass of wine and a bite at the bar or full on dinner and drinks, I would have highly recommended it which is the basis of my 3 stars for past performance. Lately it has been lacking in both food quality and service. Recently I had an experience that really turned me off to the place. On a slow Sunday morning our server basically forgot about us, she was seen standing around chatting with other staff neglecting to refill drinks or follow up on the order despite even forgetting to put half our order in since we never got the food and what we did receive was severely over seasoned and cooked. Perhaps I just had two bad experiences in a row but I'll be taking a break from 800 Maple for a while and hopefully they get their issues sorted out.
I didn’t care for our table in view of the food prep. It was where all the servers congregated and resembled a breakfast diner. I especially didn’t like watching the chef chewing gum as she prepared all the food orders.
I have been going to Maple 800 for over 20 years. I have held corporate get togethers for my employees as well as invited numerous friends for dinner from all over the world. Overall the experiences were satisfactory. However, I went in at about 5 pm today (Tuesday, Nov 13) to have a glass of wine and pizza at the bar. The woman bartender poured a glass of wine and never came back. I motioned to the attendant, called Greg 4 times as I wanted to order pizza. He saw this , ignored and did not even acknowledge. After half an hour I cornered him, he stated he was’ kind of busy’ and was rude.i left the wine glass half finished , signed the check which he thrust at me and left , stating I would complain to the manager. As I was leaving at the counter, he came back screaming. I left a voice mail for the the owner but so far no response. If I do not hear from the owner by tomorrows, I intend to file a law suit. I encourage potential customers to boycott this restaurant till this issue is resolved satisfactorily.
Went for the first time last night after being recommended this place a while ago. The ambiance is nice, a little small but cozy. for being a fine dining resturant the service did not impress. The food was dropped by a food runner or busser and although it was good it took our server forever to come check on us to see if we were happy with our meals or if we wanted another round of drinks. Mind you our drinks sat empty for a while and we wanted another before dinner came out. Probably would have had a 3rd if she was more present. It also wasn't that busy. The food itself was good, but the lack of service made the night not as enjoyable as it should have been. Not sure if we would be back.
Ordered medium rare steak. It came as medium well. Dry & lacking “juice”. Waitress had an “attitude”. As is being at “800” in and of itself as what it was all about. Food a minor point. Disappointment at best!
800 Maple is a beautiful looking upscale restaurant, that falls a bit short of it's class. I say this because, I expect more from a upscale restaurant. When you look past the beautiful decor, you have to judge a place by their food/drinks. After carefully looking over the menu, my wife and I found it to be lackluster. My wife ended up getting the asparagus salad, and I ordered the roasted chicken. Initially, we did not place an order for a appetizer. But our waiter suggested that we should, just to help pass the time. Because the roasted chicken could take up to 30mins to prepare, so we ordered the truffle fries. While waiting for our food to arrive, our drinks was ready and was brought to us. Tai ordered the Cosmo, and I ordered the Manhattan. We were both disappointed by our drinks, because they both tasted watered down. By now our fries showed up, and the first thing we notice is the fries are lukewarm. We are starting to wonder, if these fries was just sitting under a heat lamp. The main entree's arrive, after about 20-25 mins wait time. I had no problem with that, I felt that was reasonable. Tai like her salad, but grew tired of it after several bites. I had tried some of her salad, and understood why she felt the way she did. You get a strong taste of boiled eggs in the salad, so if your not into boiled eggs. This may not be a salad you would want to try, or just omit the egg when ordering. My roasted chicken was huge, and the skin was nice and crispy. What I didn't care for, was the cognac peppercorn sauce. To me it tasted more like a foie gras sauce, than a peppercorn sauce. My final thoughts of this place would be this, the food is not on a upscale restaurant level. There is nothing exciting, bold or daring about the dishes. I feel this is a neighborhood favorite, that is better than Carrabba's, Scotch and sirloin, and Red lobster. But does not compare, to the upscale restaurants in the downtown Buffalo area.
Nice atmosphere and the food was great once we finally received it. Our party waited over an hour to receive the entrees, with no explanation as to the delay. Would not recommend if you are pressed for time or would like to get home prior to 9:30pm. We watched parties be seated after us get their dinners, eat, pay and leave.
The overall atmosphere is nice. The service is great. The food on the other hand was less than satisfactory. I really wanted a wood-fired pizza. I asked if I could get a pizza without one of the included toppings and the waitress told us "no, they really don't like it if you mess with the pizza" They are charging $25 for a small pizza and they refuse to make it without a topping? So we ordered a different pizza and it was barely warm. It looked like a child threw it together. Needless to say, I will not go back.
The organic chicken with gnocchi was salty. For $35 not worth the inflammation. The chicken itself was salty, probably brined. Although crispy and juicy, too much salt combined with the salty sauce made it almost inedible. However the Pork chop was very good. The Bathroom is dark and you can’t even see if your lipstick is on straight, plus you can hear the boys talking through the mutual sink.
Not my usual experience here, but it was bad enough that I am reluctant to go back. Service was exceptionally slow and poor. After finally receiving my scallops entree, it was filled with shells. Although my meal was taken off the bill, the very slow service made it impossible to order anything else, including a desert. Left hungry and very unhappy.
My daughter made reservations at this restaurant for her graduation dinner. We were the last appointment for the day and although we were a little late, they were very accommodating which we appreciated. We sat down to order and I asked our server for recommendations. She said the chicken and the salmon are her favorites so I chose the chicken. When the food arrived everything looked delicious except the chicken. I have never seen cooked chicken looking so white and unappealing. I decided that I did not want the food but I was still going to pay for it. It was my daughter's day and I was going to go with the flow. I returned the food untouched, but informed our server that I would still pay for the meal. Soon after, the manager came to the table to inquire why I did not want the food. I informed him that I eat with my eyes and the food did not look appealing. I reiterated that it is not a problem, I will still pay for the meal. He asked if I would like something else and I informed him that I am aware that we got the latest appointment and I did not want to inconvenience anyone. He insisted and I relented and accepted the salmon as I figured that would be easy to prepare. To my surprise, that's when the manager got nasty. Initially, he was standing beside me and speaking so that only my table could hear. As soon as I accepted the salmon, he proceeded to walk around to the opposite side of the table loudly chastising me for not accepting the chicken that was specially prepared for me. He also informed me that in his 12 years of managing the restaurant, no one has ever refused a meal before tasting it. It makes no sense that the manager chose to make an issue, when it was made clear by the customer, that there was none. Again, I told him that it is not a problem, I will pay for my food. Everyone at my table was aghast. At this point my daughter started crying from embarrassment; saying I was livid, is an understatement. My daughter's friend graduated a year before her and had his graduation dinner at this restaurant. She liked the restaurant and decided that she wanted to eat here for her graduation. One year of anticipation culminating in disappointment. Needless to say, we will never return. Giving credit where credit is due, the servers were pleasant and attentive. One kept congratulating my daughter and making small talks. I left a 20% gratuity for them which the manager did not accept. Everyone at my table said that the food wasn't bad but they lost their appetites. We wanted to make this day special, my daughter worked really hard and deserve to be celebrated. It is extremely unfortunate that the manager's ego could not stand someone not wanting to try the specially prepared chicken.
The food was decent but we sat at the bar and the service was TERRIBLE!! It took over 10 minutes to get a drink and the bartender was less than attentive the whole time we were there. She never checked on us, we always had to flag her down (the bar was full but it was late so most patrons were just finishing their meals/drinks so it wasn't crazy-busy) for refills, she never asked how our food was, and it took FOREVER to get her attention and our checks. She also seemed to get into a disagreement with a server over something, not sure what, but it was right in front of us and certainly unprofessional. It was our first time there and we had heard good things, but we both agreed after having that experience, we would never return. At those prices, I expect exemplary service. What a letdown! I would recommend sitting anywhere other than the bar if you want good service. There didn't seem to be a manager around to stay on top of issues and to keep an eye on that side of the house, maybe they should start paying more attention.
The food was absolutely amazing, the service and atmosphere were not. We went to 800 maple to celebrate our 7 year anniversary as we had celebrated last year there and had a phenomenal experience. The wait staff last year were beyond incredible and attentive. This year we were sat next to a table of 7 celebrating a birthday. We know what they were celebrating because the girls at the table continually shouted. I am not sure what was worst the fact that they kept screaming profanities and making comments about how they didn’t care about other guests in the restaurant. The fact that the wait staff didn’t make an attempt to quiet the table for other guests. The lack of attention we received from the wait staff because all attention was on the table next to us. The fact that I couldn’t talk to my companion because we couldn’t hear each other over the shouting. Or watching our waiter taking a shot with the part next to us like we were in a cheap bar not at a nice restaurant spending nearly $200 on dinner. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. After last night the tradition we started last year of spending our anniversary there is going to be short lived. If management reads this we were the party of two that dined there at 7:30 PM 11/12/19.
Went with family for brunch on father's day. Wasn't what I would consider "fine dining." We sat in a private room off the main dining area - cool spot except carpet was filthy. Service wasn't the best as each time we were brought a beverage or course she didn't know who to give it to - again not what I would call a fine dining experience. Ordered the chicken sandwich - undercooked in spots, roll looked like something from a grocery store and was later crumbled and the side of chips were stale. Overall, disappointing experience and certainly doesn't justify the price. As a positive, the iced coffee was great and the gentleman filing up the water was very pleasant. Oh how could I forget, 1st thing the server said was "no one told me you guys were in here."
We have been going to 800 Maple for a number of years. We took a reprieve from visiting after a not so great experience during covid. Since then the food and service has been consistently good until this Friday night where we had a less than enjoyable experience. Four of us went out to dinner for my mother's birthday and were seated promptly. It took almost 15 min for the server to take our drink order and bring our drinks. Not terrible but I could tell that they were what appeared to be short staffed. We ordered by 7:30 and had our apps by 7:45. At 8:20 the server said that she apologizes for the delay and that she has no idea how much longer it will be. A table that came in well after us was already eating. We got two of our meals at 8:45 and had to wait another 10 minutes for the other two meals to arrive. Everyone’s food was perfect except my pork chop. I was very much looking forward to this meal as it is one of the best in the city. I ordered it medium rare. It came out well done :-(. I only ate a couple of bites which should have been a clue that something wasn’t right. Nobody came back to the table to check on us until we were done eating. Needless to say I won’t be going back for a long, long time…
Came here for our 5th year anniversary and left feeling underwhelmed. We were seated and our table was immediately broken. Service staff was incredibly helpful in trying to fix it but ultimately needed to move us to a new table because the leaves were hitting our legs while we were looking at the menu making it uncomfortable. The next chair I was sat at was also broken so 800 maple may be due for a remodel in its near future as both the tables we sat at had broken furniture. Our waiter was very sweet but bit unprepared for a busy Sunday. He had served my partner the Ithaca flower beer rather than the flower wine we had actually ordered but had left the table before we could correct him to go serve his other tables. We were rarely checked on to place more drink orders in throughout the night and getting more cocktails was slow process. Food was overall pretty solid. As a pizza snob, I was hoping for a bit more from the pizza. We ordered the Anthony and it was a softer crust and could just use a bit more flavor. Desert was excellent as I can never say no to a crème brûlée. The brookie was next level rich but still delicious. We are walking distance from 800 maple so we were a bit let down that this couldn't reach our expectations of our new special occasion spot.
800 Maple has been on our radar for some time, and while we anticipated an exquisite experience, our initial visit may regrettably be our last. The restaurant's ambiance, adorned with soft, dim lighting, added a pleasant touch to the evening. Our server, proficient in his role, contributed to the overall positive aspect of our dining experience. We opted for the harvest salad, butternut squash ravioli, filet mignon, and mac n cheese. The salad, while satisfactory, fell short of our expectations. Unfortunately, the butternut squash ravioli deviated from the simplicity we had encountered elsewhere. The overpowering presence of what seemed to be sage overshadowed the intended butternut squash flavor, and the undercooked squash pieces detracted from the dish's appeal. The filet mignon lacked the distinct flavor and expert sear characteristic of a well-prepared cut. On a brighter note, the standout dish of the evening was the mac n cheese, a delightful highlight amid our underwhelming dining experience. In summary, the culinary offerings at 800 Maple left us with a sense of disappointment, with the mac n cheese being the sole highlight of an otherwise less-than-impressive dining experience.
I stopped by today with my family for brunch, and it was a bit of a rollercoaster. The breakfast pizza was great. My wife's Eggs Benedict? Not so much – it came out undercooked with the egg having that slimy feel. We pointed it out to our server, and she seemed to shrug it off with a casual "okay". Not the ideal response. However, the truly alarming part was when my 4-year-old, who typically loves orange juice, barely touched it. Curious, I tasted it and was shocked as it tasted just like a mimosa. Expressing our concerns, we were met with a dismissive remark that "people say that a lot." The taste of carbonation was undeniable, and having had mimosas before, it was insulting to be brushed off. This raises a few questions: 1. Was there a mix-up with glasses? (unlikely, considering it was a juice glass, not a champaign glass) 2. Was the orange juice funky and fermenting? 3. Or even more concerning, could they be recycling leftover drinks? What was most disconcerting was the apathetic attitude of the young waitstaff. I don't even know if management was made aware of these issues considering how quickly the staff brushed it off, but it seems like the staff clearly needs more training. The onus is on establishments to ensure safety, show empathy, and value customer feedback. Disappointing to say the least.
I took a date here and I had to listen to staff refer to me in a derogatory term the whole night while they tried get a reaction from me. One waiter even refused to serve us and then when we asked to box up our main course because we felt so uncomfortable, another waiter had to do it because the first one who refused to serve us wouldn’t, so they took our food to the back and took 15 minutes. I threw that food in the garbage because I’m certain it was tampered with. Will tell everyone I know to never think about touching the place, good luck!
The food was not fresh, and my girlfriend and I had dinner there, ordering rack of lamb, beef ribs, and two appetizers. Within an hour of leaving the restaurant, both of us experienced stomach issues. We hadn’t eaten anything before or after the restaurant visit, so we are concerned about the quality and safety of their ingredients.
Definitely the worse experience ever. The pasta was served hard, not Al Dante, raw . When we told the server she came back and said the chef said it was perfect. Unfortunately we could not eat it and a replacement was not offered. We were a table of 7, received 5 slices of bread and enough butter for 2. Requested more but it never came. Beverages were in a small glass packed with ice. When we requested refills we were charged for each one. 14.00 for iced tea. Ridiculous. Don't waste your time or your money. Absolutely horrible customer service.
