Ihawan Woodside Reviews
The food was excellent. The service was great. The staff was very friendly.
My Lola told me she wanted me to try her favourite restaurant. This area has a little Filipino community that my Grandmother loves. So of course I’d be eager to visit. The food was delicious! Service was so fast. Everyone was so friendly, lively, and lovely. I’ll definitely be coming back, the food was authentic and such a great atmosphere!
Ihawan is so good, I went one week with my sister, and we came back the next week with the rest of our family. We had the 6 people platter and weren't disappointed. We also shared an order of fried pork lumpia and the special, fresh lumpia they serve on the weekends. Everything was good, but the standouts were the tamarind soup, pork lumpia and lechon kawali. I'm looking forward to returning very soon!
Moving here became better after discovering this nearby restaurant. Their commitment to quality ingredients extends to portion sizes. The food impresses, the mood feels easy, the service stands out, and people look happy. Helpful, down-to-earth, and authentic. The experience here satisfies all needs.
Ihawan was a wonderful opportunity to try Filipino cuisine and my first time! We got a large platter (meant for two people but fed 5 people adequately). It included a variety of meat and veggies, and was gorgeous and colorful! Every aspect of the platter had a unique flavor and felt fresh and well-seasoned. The staff was really welcoming, especially accommodating for our friend who is a vegetarian! Ranking a bit lower because of the atmosphere and interior design.
I frequent this Filipino restaurant because I absolutely love their Sizzling Salmon (with special sauce) as well as their Sizzling Steak. Whatever is in that ‘special sauce’ is quite addictive. These two dishes are pricey, though — salmon ($33), steak ($40) — but so worth it. They’re good for 2-3 people who have small appetites. The service is topnotch. All the servers are attentive and proactive — they anticipate your needs and cater to them without being asked. We always receive 5-star service from this Filipino resto. The vibe is also reminiscent of The Philippines. While dining, they play Original Pinoy Music (OPM) and Filipino artists are often featured. Ihawan is always a good idea whenever you’re in the neighborhood.
Casual Filipino spot with great quality ingredients and friendly service :) My friends and I never had Filipino food before and so the best thing to get was the platter. Great selection. Fish and BBQ chicken are definitely standouts. Loved the vegetables too. My friends and I also got some juices, I liked the coconut one best, really fresh. Our server was really helpful and nice, especially since we were first timers. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Went with a group of 12, and luckily, they had seating. Prices are decent, good selection is varied, and the place is small, yet quaint. We ordered 2 platters, and it was amazing. It was my first time having Filipino food, and everything tasted great! I'd love to eat here again!
Possibly my favorite Filipino restaurant in Queens. Good, hearty comforting food. Get the lechon kawali for that perfectly crisp and crunchy bite 🤤 Servings are generous and the staff is so warm. Entrance is a bit confusing - door on the left is for pick ups, door to the right leads to the stairs and the restaurant is on the second floor. Definitely coming back when I miss the flavors of home
I loved my visit to Ihawan and wish I tried Filipino food sooner in life. This place is very much a hole in the wall vibe with wonderful people and a family feeling, we loved seeing all the celebrations and people enjoying good food. I liked the lechon sisig but I’d hands down come back for the grilled meat skewers, they go so well with the garlic fried rice. The food here is delicious and there’s no frills, would definitely recommend coming here if you’re looking for a good vibe and homemade cooking.
A little hidden since it is on the second floor of the building to dine in but staff was helpful to help locate. Service was great. Some formalities were spoken in Tagalog which was appreciated, being Filipino. Food was freshly prepared and was served smoking hot. My friend and I had ordered the Ihawan sampler, pancit bihon, sisig, and some halo-halo with the mango drink I forgot the name of (lol) for dessert. Pretty good little spot to have some authentic Filipino cuisine. Would come here again any other day.
On a Friday evening, walked in and was seated right away for 2. Staff were friendly and loved that they sold merchandise there as well (I love to support the small businesses). Ordered the Lumpia Shanghai, Pancit Palabok, BBQ Chicken & Pork Meals with rice, and they provided one complimentary bowl of sinigang. The food was delicious: the bbq was succulent and juicy (not dry!), same with the palabok, not dry; and lumpia was also delicious (one note is because of the leaves it is served on, some lumpia became moist). The iced buko juice was sooooo yummy!!!! Friendly and attentive service by Chesca, Oliver & the gentleman wearing the Pogi shirt.
Went with family to try their platters! Definitely sent us back to the Philippines! 🇵🇭 Very accommodating staff is definitely a plus! Even the Filipino music! 🎶🎶🎶 We chose the Platter for 4 people and it's pretty adequate, just the right portions, it is worth the price i would say.. We had fresh lumpia for appetizer, and we all love the sauce! Overall it was a good experience and would definitely come back to try their other dishes!
Restaurant is located in the 2nd floor so you just walk up the stairs. Came here around 6 pm on a Friday and was able to get seated. It got busier throughout the evening with every table full by the time we left. Staff is friendly here and they accept credit cards (one card per table). For food, we ordered, Pork BBQ, Lechon Kawali, Lumpia and Tokwat Baboy (fried tofu and chopped pork). We got the garlic rice (for $1 more) instead of the white rice that comes as default. All the food was so good especially the pork bbq skewers, lechon and lumpia. For drinks, we ordered the Sago and the Mango Juice. The Sago was on the sweeter side, one friend did not like it as it was too sweet.
It’s very traditional Filipino food. Upside: decent bbq and lots of meat. Too much. Downside: long wait. For food and for table. They take rsvp for larger group. Food - they are good. Either grilled and packed with sweet. They can’t go bad for that. You will end with a sugar high easily. Beside that, portion is a lot. Love the noodle and seafood. Grill pork is very easy to get addicted to. Ambiance is casual with family friendly environment. Service is friendly but they get busy.
I’ve been here twice, first time I dined in at night time, and it was a pretty good. Food and service were good. I went a second time in the middle of the day and ordered takeout from downstairs, and the food didn’t taste fresh. Something about the sisig and pancit tasted off. The Shanghai lumpia’s were the only thing i was able to eat. Was a lil pricey so I probably won’t return. Nice people tho.
I like the staff and their hospitality. They were friendly and have a sense of humor. The Kabayan meals and platters are the best value which are shared family style. The grill items and pork are most popular as well I'm told. I recommend the lumpia and grilled eggplant. The grilled pork chops were also good. Kare Kare was decent as was the egg omelette with eggplant and pork. Sadly the fried crispy pork was too dry this visit. Disappointed.
