Opiniones de Black Sugar Alameda
Yifang has amazing fruit teas. This Taiwanese boba chain has a nice history as Yifang is the name of the grandma who owned a pineapple plantation. Anyways, the fruit teas are the main draw. I've tried to the other milk teas- and although its good- the fruit teas are superior. It can get a little packed and there are only 2 ordering kiosks, but there is plenty of space to sit and wait. There are no indoor tables, so most people just order and go due to the space. The parking - is a free parking lot, and even during busy times- it's not bad to find parking. Anyways, enjoy!!
During my rounds for Alameda Restaurant Week, I visited Yifang Taiwan Fruit Tea to capture their beverage offerings. What sets them apart is their use of real fruits in their drinks, not just flavored syrups. The result is super refreshing teas that taste light and very tropical - perfect for a warm day. If you're looking for a healthier boba option, their fruit-based drinks offer a nice alternative to the heavier, sweeter versions you might find elsewhere.
Atmosphere: such a cute spot with friendly staff. You can order at the kiosk or at the cashier. Service: staffs are friendly and helpful. I got my drink in less then 5 mins Brown boba milk latte: boba comes out warm and I got lite sweetness (that’s what is recommended on the menu) I def will be back. Best milk tea spot near me besides from happy lemon but they don’t have warm boba.
Highly recommend their mango pomelo sago -- probably one of the best, if not the best in the east bay. Matcha brown sugar latte is also pretty good! Excited there's a nice outpost in Alameda now. Interior of the store has a nice japanese / Taiwanese aesthetic, will be nice once things open back up
Ordered the Almond Milk Tea with pearls. Easy on the sweetness. Tremendously refreshing. Outstanding value as well. Will definitely return!

By far my favorite location to get boba and have very good drink options, Although it does get very busy but the staff are always nice i just wish it was a bit more clean and organized
High quality tea, fast preparation. 2 for 1 special with the salted cream teas is a good value. Fruit teas use fresh fruit, not syrups. The boba is always the perfect texture.
Expensive but good boba tea. Plenty of variations. Not much space to sit indoors, like like they removed all the tables during COVID and never brought them back out

Large interior area with seating. They only have one kiosk to take order with card payment. Countertop only take payment with cash. Lots of fresh fruity drink choices here which they are famous for. Taro latte with no sugar but still really sweet. They use real taro not powder here which taste great! Good place for a boba drink with fresh choice.
The drinks were good but the store has been dark and uninviting for a while. There is a “play area” bench seating but no table seating. The seasonal Halloween decorations did not help. This place could do with a makeover to make it more appealing.
Nice atmosphere and quick service. The drinks are really good and unique, but some are not for everyone because the drinks are very unique to the culture, since it’s a Taiwanese Boba tea cafe!

Stopped by b/c I was craving a matcha latte. Pretty mid I’d say. Only slightly better than what they have in Starbucks (which I know isn’t great already). Order was a Large, 70% sweetness, and Less Ice. 3/5 b/c past drink orders have been good
Hmmm, the boba tea was good and the service was fast. The matcha latte though was not anyone's favorite. Also the space is odd. They have enough space for tables but they've removed them for some reason, and so it doesn't feel welcoming (including a taped off bench swing that says 'keep off' ?!).
I recently tried Yifang Taiwan Fruit Tea, and my experience was pretty average. Their menu is packed with tons of drink options, which might excite some but felt a bit overwhelming for me. The pricing is on the higher side—we paid around $8 for a medium-sized drink, which seemed overpriced for what we got. The drink itself was okay, but nothing about the flavor really stood out to make it feel worth the price. The interior of the shop was fine, though it had a "just opened" vibe that made it feel a little underwhelming. On a positive note, the boba was served warm, which I liked, but the texture was too mushy and lacked the chewiness I usually enjoy. Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience, but it didn’t leave a lasting impression either. It might be worth a visit if you’re curious, but I wouldn’t rush back.
recommended sugar levels are a joke. the yifang fruit tea recommendation was 50% but it was way too bitter and not enjoyable at all. i think if it wasn't recommended on the menu and we didnt order it at 50% it would have been good. the sugar cane drink was pretty good.

Ekkk I wanna say this drink really sucks I had to throw it away. Very weird combinations wasted $8 !
Ordered a Chocoberry Bliss, too expensive for the flavor. Dollar store chocolate milk tastes better. It had a weird chocolate flavor and I tasted no berry.

There was no tea flavor and no sweetness. Despite the color and foam, it tasted like plain water. I ordered shortly after the store opened, so maybe something went wrong with the first batches of tea. I tried two different tea flavors with sea salt foam, and both drinks tasted like water. This was very disappointing. I’ve given this location many chances, but the drinks are consistently watery and diluted. This time, though, it was literally like drinking water. The store also seemed understaffed—there appeared to be only one person working. I had to wait a long time for my order to be handed to me even after it was already made, because the other staff member was busy preparing additional drinks.
I visit many traditional tea shops as well as boba tea shops. I’ve always like to try one thing: Green Tea with sea salt cream. I ordered a Green Tea with salted cream, 100% sweet and less ice. First sip, I was disgusted by the taste. It tasted not like green tea at all. Nutty, but not in a good way. For some reason it was also very watered down and was dull in sweetness— Tasted so bland with that strange tea taste. I also mixed in the salted cream which apparently didn’t help at all in giving it flavor. Overall was a disappointment, not worth the money or visit. This place as well as the Green Tea with salted cream is at the bottom of my list for tea shops. If you want actual delicious green tea with cream, try Plentea or Chicha San Chen. Those are high quality and award winning tea shops that have served me excellent and flavorful tea.
I asked the guy for more pomelo in my drink. He responded with o can't it's not a topping. Then I asked him to charge me for a topping he said he can't because he's not a topping it's free. Then I said perfect put more in it. He then says to me that there is a law prohibiting him and told me to type it in my self in the kiosk. After I called him out on his lies, he just stands there and says I'm still not doing. You guys need to hire better employees
