Came here on a whim. Truly amazing thai food. We got papaya salad, roti with curry, mussels for appetizers. Papaya salad was on point. I would say that the mussels are the best I ever had. Love the roti as well. We in fact got another serving of them both. Grilled beef and curry for mains. The beef was tasty, note that the portions are a little smaller than you might expect (not a big deal, tasted good still) If you are looking for great Thai food in the area, do stop by. The only thing I would change about this place is that the disco lighting is really not conducive for dining.

Great place for dinner, a simplified, modern and tasteful version of Thai food in SF. Recommended. Nice selection of drinks too.

Funky Elephant is arguably the best Thai food one can find anywhere! Every dish is bursting with flavor, the staff and owners are unbelievably kind, and the ambiance instead is fun and playful. I easily get their food two or three times a month! Some must try’s are the crispy rice salad? Brussels sprouts, drunken mussels, pad Thai, and wholesome noodles. Ask them for a Thai tea Arnold Palmer too! So good!!!

Phenomenal! For a place that embraces its non-traditional offerings, I found the flavors and spice levels refreshingly authentic. The papaya salad is a must try!

Absolutely phenomenal food. Would dine again and try more things on the menu. I had the chicken Yellow Curry and it was amazing. The curry slapped and the chicken was so so so well cooked. It was the juiciest, most cooked chicken I could have expected. They deserve the Michelin Guide oof.

I LOVED this restaurant! The staff are so friendly and helped give us great food recommendations. The food was also 10/10 -- I've never had this kind of Thai food before, it was so different and so delicious.

The food was delicious here! Our favorites were the chicken wings and yellow curry, but the pad thai was a close follow-up. We'll have to go back to try a few more things!

Delicious Thai food in a fun party-like space. Yum Kai Dao (Fried Egg Salad) - crispy egg with a tangy sauce that cuts through the fried flavor. Would recommend as it's not a dish you'd readily find in other Thai restaurants Pad Thai - sweet, spicy, and packs serious spice Kao Mun Gai - chicken was tender and rice was flavorful. I also really like how the chili was spicy and tangy

They said spicy and they meant it. I was sweating. My gums were burning. My lips are on fire. Me enchile. Still, fantastic. If you’re gonna do spicy you better mean it.

The flavors in the dishes packed a punch! We throughly enjoyed the Jungle Curry - very spicy and flavorful. Haven’t had good Thai like that in a while! The drunken noodles were also good, but did rank up too much to the curry. Would love to come back and try more dishes! The plates were smaller than most Thai spots, but felt like they were more focused on overall taste.

Phenomenal restaurant which is shockingly not busy. Every dish I've had has been great, but the coconut beef, the curries, the sweet roti dessert were highlights. They have a great wine selection and also do corkage.

Got the vegan Motherland Curry and it is a revelation. Yum is not sufficient. Wow! The Thai lime tea is also sublime. Do not hesitate. This place is innovative and slightly weird and delicious. If that sounds good, go go go!

This place was interesting. I ordered the pad thai. Pros: - ingredients felt fresh/high quality. nice tofu and shrimp. - good balance of flavor on the pad thai sauce. - presentation was nice Cons: - imo there was a little too much pad thai sauce -- it was a little too "wet" for my taste. - i have a very high spice tolerance but i felt even for me the pad thai was slightly too spicy. like I wasn't crying or anything but i felt 10% less would've been appropriate. then again most places don't make pad thai spicy enough for me, so i appreciate them going in the other direction. - no mango sticky rice on the menu :( - no Khao Soi on the menu :( neutral: - slightly loud party atmosphere, neon lights etc. Honestly if they just dried up the pad thai just a slight bit I'd probably be happy enough to give a 5/5.

Came here with a friend and were seated immediately! Good: - Great ambiance for catching up, a little dim inside - The Pad Thai was amazing, a ton of flavor and the shrimp inside was jumbo sized - The crispy tofu came with a really tasty sauce - The rice salad was great too! It had a lot of crunchy flavor and it was fun to eat Bad - Took a bit of time for the food to arrive to our table - A little hard to flag down the servers Overall the food was excellent and thought that the only downside was the service.

Food was excellent so was the service. One of the pictures on the wall stunned me, having a two year old. What do you think of the baby smoking a cigarette in that picture on the wall.

No A/C so be warned on warm days! I sat in the parklet so that was okay. The decor is really cute; disco balls and rainbow lights everywhere, including in the bathroom. Overall, the food was a 4/5. Everything was quite salty and I’m glad I ordered a side of sticky rice. Honestly the sticky rice was my favorite part. The menu was introduced as spicy, but honestly the hot salsa at Chipotle is much spicier than even their “most spicy” item, the pad thai.

It's not as funky as I expected it to be ... This place could be pretty much anywhere in south east Asia and some of dishes would do as well in S.E.A as much as they do here , prices aside . The one dish that disappointed was the crazy jungle Curry. It might be crazy but it wasn't any thing that resembled curry. Not thai curry, not Japanese curry, not Indian curry, not Chinese curry. It was rather soupy a bit of spice but lacked the texture. The other two dishes papaya salad and the pork salad were pretty spot on. As you can tell by the color of the photos the funky lights in the restaurant made that tribute

Delicious food. Service is good but slow. I would not come here if I was on a time crunch. No service fee but the cost of the food is a little pricey compared to the amount of food you get. I think I only had 5 shrimp in my curry. It is good, though. 🤔

“Funky” is definitely the right word to describe this place — not for the faint of heart, it’s got a creative and sometimes strange menu full of Thai flavor. The Pad Thai Old Skool is 100% the star of the show. It’s got a great mouthfeel, smooth flavor, and a nice crunch with the granulated peanuts. The Super Jungle Curry was… not what we were expecting. It was less of a curry and more of a broth, with a few bites of meat and some string beans. To be honest, the portioning was smaller than we expected, and the flavor was not at the same level of the pad Thai. The heat was good, but it was the only thing exciting about this dish — we wouldn’t recommend it for first time visitors. The service was decent, albeit a bit hard to grab the attention of — we had to try a few times to get our bill (the servers seemed pretty swamped, so we understand that staffing issues are generally out of the service worker’s control). We were perhaps most surprised that rice was not included with any of the dishes, so we had to pay for a small side. The silver lining? The Butterfly Pea Jasmine rice had a lightly herbaceous flavor, and the natural colors dyed it bluish-purple! Definitely a fun aspect that really put the “funky” in “funky elephant”. Overall, the decor and atmosphere are fun and creative, but the food sometimes felt like it was trying too hard. Not for the faint of heart, but an adventurous eater could easily fall in love with it.

Paid $25 for Jungle Curry—got 8 tiny pieces of tofu in pepper paste, no veggies, no rice (that’s extra at $2.50). When I asked, they said “It’s organic tofu.” Sorry, that doesn’t make up for the portion. The Drunken Noodles were small too—not rice noodles, but egg noodles. Flavor was just okay. Only three people running the whole restaurant, so don’t expect service. Small portions, high prices, and not authentic. Won’t be back.

When I received my food, I found that the drinks had been poured over.which was the most disgusting thing for me. I found that there was some white foam in this cup of milk tea that did not disperse.never used door dash 🤢🤮🤮🤒There is no doubt that it is the restaurant's problem, but the drinks in the fresh-keeping package were opened, which is very unsafe for takeout. Chicken wings taste good.
