Finally got to try out this restaurant I had been eyeing for so long, and had a great experience. The set menu was very filling. I added the pate because i really wanted to try it, but did not realize the size of it. In retrospect, I would not have gotten it as I was absolutely stuffed by the last dish. To drink, I started with their sparkling option (pictured below) which I loved. Also added a red later on in the meal (pictured) which was also nice. My favorite dish was their mackerel, which was constructed with such detail and I could see the chef working in front of me which was cool. Their dessert was also a light perfect end to their otherwise hearty meal. Can't wait to come again once their seasonal menu changes!

Truly enjoyed our dinner here. We ordered one additional dish alongside the fixed course, and every single plate was delicious and beautifully presented. I especially loved the variety of ingredients—particularly the vegetables, many of which were new to me and incredibly fresh. The flavors, atmosphere, and service were all excellent, and the price was very reasonable for the quality offered. Highly recommend!

Fantastic four-course dinner with truly outstanding service and a great atmosphere. The flavor combinations were unique, and every dish was thoughtfully and skillfully executed. If you can, grab a seat at the bar. It is a treat to watch the chefs plate each course. Highly recommend.

Food was great and ingredients were very fresh. Lamb was not gamey and the monkfish was extremely delicious. The bread was slightly burnt though but it was still tasty once we removed the burnt crusts.

Absolutely one of my favorite restaurants for a fancy date night or a celebratory dinner! The chef & team create a delectable tasting menu each time, putting emphasis on each ingredient & developing cohesion between each flavor. I cannot wait to be able to go here again!

Came here in November 2025 and will definitely come back! 4.5 for food because i don’t really eat rare meat and their steak was cooked more on the rare end, and we didn’t get asked on options. Otherwise, each bite here was just at a different level of amazing experience compared to most french fusion places in the city. Couldn’t ask for better service and ambience. And as of food, below are my faves ( a must if you could! ) crispy head cheese 4.5/5 - on the saltier side, the beet companies the cheesy pastry perfectly, the texture inside is very fatty and maybe a little too (fat) juicy. two bites were tbh more than enough for me. and don’t expect cheese in it!! halibut, fennel, granny smith apple 5/5 - the lemongrass sauce was def cherry on top. the crunchiness of fennel and 🍏 green apple combined with smooth, (non-smelly) fish with perfect chewiness were so good !!! scallop, brussel sprouts, smoked butter 5/5 - perfectly seasoned, scallops were seared to perfection that it tasted smokey, and had hidden (gem) nuts underneath 🥜

French bistro meets Japanese creativity, the result is explosive... in a good way! The blow torched hamachi or the scallops with a saffron infused bernaise were veey impressive. I would suggest broadening the wine choice beyond natural wines but otherwise a perfect spot

I felt like we were back in a Michelin starred restaurant in Provence eating here. I loved sitting at the counter and watching the sou chefs prepare and dress the dishes. It was the first time since then that we got to enjoy Monkfish. A rare find! And cooked beautifully with a light curry sauce. We did the 4 course option and were stuffed after, it was a lot of food but well priced! The strawberry gelato desert with geranium foam was a memorable and perfect ending to the rich meal. The staff was attentive. We will definitely go back as they change their menu daily. Truly an unexpected gem to find on a random corner of the mission.

5 stars just for the mackerel course alone. mijote is a neighborhood restaurant just serving some no frills tasty french food. wine is well priced and food is delicious. worth a try! would recommend getting a seat at the bar to watch them work early girls tomato: freshest ingredients and great appetizer to start mackerel: perfectly smoky and cooked. one of the best fish dishes i’ve ever had. horseradish cream paired perfectly. duck: a little disappointed by this one. crispy skin was tasty but wasn’t a fan of the duck texture.

The overall experience work the guest chef was incredible. Whoever stated the menu was too heavily carb or fat intense clearly did not do their homework. The flavor was insane and the overall selection of food was beyond what was expected for the menu of the day. I was blown away by the service, atmosphere, and chef collaboration. I wish I would have taken more photos but was enjoying my time in the experience of it all too much. Kelsey was overwhelmingly helpful with the drink options too. I will be back for more!

The ever changing four-course menu is thoughtful and beautifully simple, with flavors that surprise without trying too hard. Sitting at the counter watching the chefs work feels personal and special, like being let in on a secret.

We loved it! My fiancé and I had dinner here for his birthday, and it was fantastic. Both the food and the service were excellent. While making the reservation, I mentioned in a note that we were celebrating a birthday, and they brought out our dessert with a candle and celebrated with us—it was so thoughtful and sweet. We asked for a wine recommendation, and they paired it perfectly with our food. My favorite dish was the beef tongue, which practically melted in my mouth, while my fiancé loved the halibut. Considering the quality and portions of the food, along with their warm service and cozy ambiance, it was surprisingly affordable. We’ll definitely be back!

Absolutely loved the 3 course menu and the quality. Daily changing menus - local. Great tasting food. I had the wine pairing which was also very reasonable. Chef was also very accommodating to change the mains (steak to duck confit for my pregnant daughter) which speaks volumes for the service and passion level for customer experience.

I’ve been eating here since they first opened and have brought tons of friends. Hands down, one of the best value meals in SF. It never misses. The wine list is strictly natural, so if you prefer classic wines like I do, just be prepared. That said, at this price point, you can definitely sense some compromises on the ingredients. But the talent is undeniable—if the chef ever opens a higher-end spot with a bigger budget, I’d be the first to support it.

The seat was a little small, and we seated in a corner bar table. The appetizer was really good, and you can see they cook in font of you. My main’s steak was a bit under cook, I don’t think it is the color of a perfect medium rare. The restaurant was kind of full, and you can see all the cook are in a rush making all the dishes. Our addon duck confit was really good, the skin was very crispy and not greasy. The price was quite reasonable for the experience. I kind of feel there are a few apprentices in the place as occasionally seeing the chef correct the at some details during cooking.

Overall, an ok experience with real opportunities to make the place great! - the food was great, it was definitely french inspired but with some fun unexpected twists. We were served crudo, quick seared tuna and steak as the first 3 courses. My main feedback is that all three courses were served pretty raw (intentionally). Nothing wrong with that but after 3 courses of raw food, I was kind of ready to move on. - the service was good. However, although the staff was nice, no one really explained the add ons for the evening and each dish was presented with a generic overview of the ingredients. I guess I just wanted a bit more (tell me why this wine is being served with this dish! Tell me why the chef was inspired to cook a particular dish!). It was also kind of a rushed experience, we were out within 1 hour and 15 minutes which I think is so fast! I think with a few tweaks, this place could be great.

The food itself was good, but the pacing and service issues overshadowed the entire experience. It took approximately 75 minutes to receive our second course, during which time multiple tables that arrived 20–30 minutes after us had already caught up to our table. After waiting for an extended period with no check-ins, we eventually asked for the check because of the delay. At that point, we were told that the issue was that we weren’t “used to the pacing,” which felt dismissive and inaccurate. I’m very familiar with long-format and Michelin-level dining, and this was not intentional pacing—it was a breakdown in service and communication. When I specifically noted that it had been 75 minutes between courses, the explanation shifted to the food being prepared “in batches,” which may describe the kitchen process but doesn’t excuse the guest experience—especially at $100 per person. Proper pacing is part of the service, regardless of how the food is produced. When we asked to leave, the meal was comped. While that gesture was appreciated, it wasn’t what we were looking for. I would have been happy to pay; the issue was the time and lack of attention, not the cost. Given how infrequently staff checked in, it’s hard to know how much longer we would have waited had we not spoken up. Additionally, seeing staff socializing, taking photos with friends, and drinking during service felt unprofessional given the price point. Good food alone doesn’t justify a nearly three-hour meal with this level of service inconsistency. I wanted to love this place, but the experience didn’t match the expectations set by the pricing.

When the main is pork/fish/lamb loin/leaner proteins, I think it’s worth going. If they’re serving the fattier lamb or any beef mains I’d skip given how suspect the sourcing for those items can be /cooking can also be pretty off - they’re usually really really flabby meats cooked HARD so char on outside but inside has not rendered nearly enough. Appetizers/early courses usually the best part of the menu though, desserts are always white chocolate stuff that isn’t great or fruit stuff that is pretty good

My friend took me here for my birthday. Overall, very disappointing. Can’t understand the hype here. After the religious experience I had at Californios this was such a let down. Starting with a turnip broth as the amuse bouche. Why would you serve something so bitter to excite the palette? And the bitterness was the theme for all the courses. Chard with halibut (bitter). Fennel with duck (bitter). And Asparagus ice cream (bitter). These were not flavors I would ever seek out for a special meal. Each dish had something interesting though; the halibut had what we think was a sweet chutney, the shrimp was the most successful with asparagus and butter foam, and the duck was perfectly cooked in a nice jus and mustard. The ice cream had a rhubarb crumble underneath. The service was harried and it was freezing cold so I had to wear my jacket the whole meal.
