The restaurant had a warm and inviting atmosphere, and the owner was incredibly welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious and had a unique taste that left a lasting impression. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience.
Great food and customer service was great. They were very friendly to my 9 abd 6 year old and making then laugh. My new go to sushi spot.
Excellent food and service! :)) Came here on a Sunday at 7:15 PM. I recommend calling ahead of time in case there isn’t enough space at certain hours. Shared a sashimi deluxe with two friends and the fish was so fresh. Our waiter, who I believe is also the owner (wore glasses), is a very jolly and humorous man. They play football games on TVs here as well!
What special little restaurant. I received an incredibly warm welcome by a fun, kind, gregarious man who I’m assuming is an owner. I was given a free roll, a free water, and a free beer with my order which is the most generous restaurant experience I’ve ever had. And the rolls matched the service and were delicious.
WOW WOW WOW!!! I seriously cannot say enough wonderful things about Sqwers. This was my first time at Sqwers and it definitely won’t be my last. The food is amazing, fresh, and it comes out so quickly. The staff are all so kind and add to the dining experience. The owner Simon has a heart of absolute gold! We came in for a birthday dinner and he went above and beyond to keep both our bellies and cups full all night long! He was constantly checking in on our tables, sharing laughs, and drinks, truly making this dining experience unique. He treats everyone like a part of his family, saying hello and welcome back and thank you to all costumers who walked through the door. If you have the pleasure of dining here, you won’t be disappointed!
Been coming very often after moving to SF. Food is incredible for the price but the service is beyond amazing. Super friendly staffs and the whole restaurant has a family like vibe to it. Hats off to Lee and the team. Truly a local gem.
We found this place while we were in the area and gave it a shot. The food was very good. We really enjoyed the food and our time here. Very friendly staff. We prefer the sushi over the ramen in here. We look forward to coming back.

Amazing Sushi and everything tasted amazing. I would definitely recommend getting the Lion king Roll, its absolutely amazing! The staff is so friendly and welcoming, they make you feel right at home.
Lee, Simon, and the team at SQwers make this a place where you feel cared for and at home with the care and attention to their patrons. Their food is great and consistently high quality and delicious as a patron for over many years. My go-to spot in the city.
This is my favorite sushi restaurant in our neighborhood. We come at least once a week and the staff feel like family. The food is great and reasonably priced. Come by! You won’t regret it!
Sqwers is one of San Francisco’s true neighborhood gems. I’ve been coming here since they first opened, and being just around the corner from me, it has become a real extension of my daily life. What makes Sqwers so special isn’t just the food (which is excellent and consistently so), it’s the people. You see it in the way Simon, Lee, and the rest of the team engage with guests — not in a scripted, transactional way, but with genuine warmth and humor. They make you feel like your being there is something they actually look forward to. Add in spontaneous sake shots, easy laughter, and familiar faces, and it’s the kind of place that quietly becomes part of your community. The menu is reliably delicious. I’ve tried just about everything over the years, but I always come back to the sushi rolls — the Lion King and Crazy Roll are absolute must-tries. The dinner combo is also one of the best values in the neighborhood; it easily stretches into more than one meal, which feels like a small gift in a city where dining out can add up fast. And on a chilly San Francisco evening, their udon hits exactly the right note of comfort and warmth. Sqwers isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a place where regulars are remembered, newcomers are welcomed, and everyone leaves feeling a little more taken care of than when they arrived. I feel lucky to have it on my block, and even luckier to be part of its orbit.
This is our favorite Japanese restaurant! The staff is friendly and accommodating. I like to order my tempura with just shrimp and broccoli—no problem! The sushi is also great and reasonably priced. Our family loves coming here again and again!
The friendliest, realest hospitality out of any SF restaurant I’ve been to. Simon and co greet everyone with a smile on their faces, and sometimes even give us appetizers and shots on the house. All the food I’ve tried is also great and reasonably priced. We come here all the time!
I canta say enough good things about this place. I live in the neighborhood so we go here often. Food is amazing and priced correctly. However, what makes this place the absolute best are the people that work there. All the staff have been there for many years and like working there. When my daughter got sick on a weekend and went to pickup food they made a special juice for her. If you go in there later at night and order a couple beers expect a sake shot on the house.
Favorite sushi spot in Laurel Heights/Inner Richmond! The food is consistently fresh and high quality, with generous portions at a great price. Simon and Lee, the owners, are incredible hosts—they make everyone feel welcome and remembered. The atmosphere is warm and casual, perfect for a quick bite or a relaxed dinner. My only complaint? I eat here way too often because I love it so much. If you go, try the Lion King roll or a classic negihama roll. Big thumbs up!
Great sushi and even better service. Loved every minute of our meal. Creative rolls, fresh sashimi, and classics. Affordable and delicious. 100% recomend
Best Japanese and locally owned restaurant in SF. Delicious food at a reasonable price, with absolutely incredible service. The team at SQewers feels more like family than just another restaurant. Personally, I’ve lived in various neighborhoods in SF, and always find myself coming back to the inner Richmond to have a memorable night at SQewers. Best sushi spot in the city!
This is a really special place. They treat you like family. Their prices are so much cheaper than what I pay for the same exact meal in Marin. They have made a repeat customer out of me.
I don't think I can love Sqwers any more than I already do. And yet, every visit, Simon, Lee, and the crew manage to surprise me. I've going to Sqwers for I-don't-know-how-many years. I know them. They know me. I know what I like. Every once in a while, when I visit with a less-frequent-customer friend, I'll try menu items that are new to me. But last night, it was just me and my boo, and we branched out all on our own, training wheels off, dammit. She chose the "Red Hot Chili Snapper" roll, and I told Lee later in the evening that it's instantly my new favorite. Then we tried a roll that he recommended, and were equally blown away—texture, flavor, love. What to expect: A fun, funky, jovial atmosphere, all punctuated and enhanced by the intimacy of the space. The food is always tasty, heartwarming, and creative, and the hospitality is unmatched. But the value often surprises us when we get the bill, too. Thank you, Sqwers, for creating so many meaningful (and delicious) memories! Bravo!
Delicious food, tasty drinks, and an exceptional atmosphere hosted by Simon (the owner). We joined here for a larger party and I could not recommend it more. What a terrific night!

Lee and Simon are the best! Local, reliable, go-to japanese spot. Love the udon and salmon quality.
Great food and super friendly staff! I can’t eat fish but they had great vegetarian options, especially the tempura roll.

This has been my neighborhood sushi spot for a while. Lee, Simon, and the rest of the sQwers team are always hospitable, welcoming, and want to have fun and want YOU to have fun. Our go to's are the 49er roll, British Columbia roll, and our new favorite is the Red Hot Chili Snapper. For your 2026 resolution, head to sQwers, have great sushi, and some fun.

We were welcome by Simon and right away the ambiance for the evening was set. It was my grandson 15th birthday and Simon brought him a stuff toy that was just perfect and special drinks for both my grand children. The food was great and we will definitely come back again.
Average Japanese food. But what an amazing server. Always saying I love you and super energetic. He was this like 5 foot 6 Asian man. Love that guy. Super funny, asking if we wanted more beer and sake. You could tell he was just happy to be there and always have a good attitude. I even saw some people come in and give him a hug. Don’t come here for the food, come here for the Asian server. The food is good, to be fair but I thought the experience was totally worth it. If I ever come back and that man is not there, I will be very sad. Definitely recommend.

Wonderful atmosphere and very polite and friendly service. I felt welcomed and that they were happy I was there. Sushi was good and fresh. Prices are commensurate with sushi quality and service. I would come back here.
